so for some reason I keep getting the message that the process android.process.media has stopped. it keeps looping and it won't stop.
I can't fix it at all... help?
Lol... Seems like you put more effort in this post. But anyway, what have you tried?
Do you have odin? Do you have adb setup?
Man, you really need to add some more details if you expect help...

The worst the about people who ask questions, is that they don't give details
Haha, sorry guys... I was sorta in a panic rush.
Well, after extensive work in ODIN... I'm back to stock.
But now, for some reason I am having a really hard time connecting to my PC.
Every time I connect my phone via USB, this MTP Device Application bull**** pulls up on my Vibrant, and my comp can't install the driver.
I've tried manually updating the driver, but my computers tells me that it's already fully updated...
I've tried connecting through Kies and Mass Storage.
So, as of right now, I'm downloading the Bionix ROM directly on my phone and will run it to see if that makes a difference.
Do you guys know of anything I'm missing?
Sorry for the lack of info again, lol.
ok i have been all over the place trying to figure this process out. i found everything that i believe that i need and have saved all info. well i did not get far.
here is what i have done so far. i have dl 1.9.0 from dj steve i have created my install .txt file. i tried the fast boot and thats as far as i get. i try the find driver and there is not even a google, inc folder to choose. if possible i would like to get someone on some sort of chat be it yahoo or whatever that could take the time to walk me through this from start to finish. i know that this is a rather large task but if i could get it i would be greatful.
here is what i am working with.
at&t dell streak 5
android version 2.2
build number 14844
i have taken everything back to off of sd card like the rcoverey and install and 1.9.0 files.
that is all that i know so far and sorry if i am not on the right track but with all of the write ups online it is almost impossible to figure out which is best and easiest ect... well thanks to everyone for the help whether i get any or not.
Start here
Quickest way to ROOT access is to
Hold your streak above your head with both hands
Close your eyes
Shout out loudly " OPEN SESAME " (must be yelled out loudly or will not work)
Then with all the energy summoned
SMASH YOUR PHONE INTO THE GROUND
CONGRATS NOW YOU SHOULD BE ROOTED WITH SUPER USER
thanks marvin for the link i already have been all over that and no luck. i cant even get into fastboot. when i try to bring up the add driver and go to select from list google inc is not there. i have gone over every step a hundred times and dont know what it is. if anyone knows where i can dl the driver file that would be awesome. but i have read other places with guys having the same issue and they dont get any help either so, i will just hold off.
also i am trying to do this on windows 7 with x86 i dont know if this could be the issue. if so i have a vista laptop also if that would be more useful. just looking for info,
and yes i have vista in test mode

I also use windows 7 x86, follow the instruction on streskdroid in how to setup qdltool, when you get to installing certificates do not worry if you can nnot install it just follow the next instruction. Dont forget to do that in test mode.

ok i think that i am finally on the right track. i have down loaded and run so many new programs that it is hard to recall which did what but i do know that one downloaded the google, inc folder so i am sure that i will be able to put in the drivers to allow fastboot. i am currently waiting on repairtool to dl so that i can finshish following the qdl tutorial and will post with update.. thanks guy

There is no reason to actually run the QDLTool on your phone because the ROM you have is later than the one it will install. But the download will include the drivers, unzip it and look in the driver folder for what you need.
just finished with the streak droid 1.9 upgrade and first power up is coming up now mu phone just opened with a nice looking streakdroid logo by djsteve. thanks again to everyone that helped me out it is most appreciated.
how can i be sure that my install.txt file took? want to make sure i got my volume boost and density
ok scratch that ^^^^^ it took
lets say i wanted to modify that txt file on the root to make changes do i have to go back and upgrade through clockwork or will it take automatically with a reboot?? thanks guys
ok well to answer my question lol post whoreing.
i just pwrd on with the vol keys held went to update via .zip again. this was after changing the txt file and the changes took it also saved all my info and setting so i didnt have to worry about setting up all my email and stuff like that again. starting to get the hang of this.
Ok so i was in my flash happy mood earlier today..
I saw that ICS slim was updated and was going to try that, well i had ICZen on my phone at the time and tried to flash Slim, well blah blah, it didnt work.. The op told me to flash from a rom that had cm9 (iczen has glitch) so i flashed Lithium MIUI--went back into recovery and started to wipe.. i wiped everything.. So i went to go flash ics slim, and as soon as i pressed 'Yes, install..' it was installing for a very short bit, then all a sudden a reboot and got stuck on the rainbow screen...
I cannot go back into recovery, but i can go into download mode.. BUT this is where the kicker is......
My computer doesnt recognize my device... ive installed driver after driver to get it to recognize. Well, no avail
Even tried installing the drivers on 6 other friends computers (at my college) and all of them still didnt recognize my device..... SMDH.. been trying to fix this all day and im pissed.
Any ideas what to do? Hate to go out and buy another phone......
And before yall say 'you cant flash miui and then go straight to ics, you have to odin' --- No, i did it all the time.. This time something went wrong and idk what
Wow, 158 views and no replies..
Guess i did permanently brick it.. ok
If you can get in to download mode, you're not bricked.
I've read/heard that since our ICS roms are built off of Nexus code, you need to install the nexus drivers. Have you tried doing that? Also, are you sure it's not a bad cable? Try another samsung cable (if you can get a hold of one) to be sure.

yes, ive installed the nexus drivers too.. im positive its not a bad cable, ive used it on my computer before hand.. and yea, ive tried another cable as well..
I remember experiencing something like this a while back. i softbricked, could enter download mode, but the computer would not pick up my phone. i dont remember an exact solution, i just remember downloading all sorts of drivers and eventually i got it to pick up.

as far as views:replies, you have to realize that even though you are in panic mode (weve all been there, so we know how you feel), that doesnt necessarily mean people are automatically going to have an answer for you. in this type of situation, its virtually impossible for anyone to tell you an exact solution (if there is one) unless they are sitting right next to you.

i honestly wish i could tell you exactly, this was a whiiile back, prob over a year.
all i remember was a lot of installing/uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, rebooting comp/phone, unplugging/replugging....it seemed like there was no hope so all i could do all day was fiddle and just hope and pray that i would do something right and the phone would read
im not going to lie though, it does sound pretty bad that youve tried it on multiple computers. that means your possible problems are (from most to least severe):
1. Busted USB port
2. Wrong drivers installed
3. Malfunctioning chord
Although i WILL say: make sure all of your USB connections are free of lint, gunk, etc. I know this sounds like one of those stupid, default troubleshooting steps, and i always looked down my nose at it. however there was a point in time the the comp wouldnt pick up my phone. i tried eeeeverything to remedy it and nothing was working. sure enough, i looked at the standard usb connector on my charging chord and it was FILLED with pocket lint. once i picked it out, BAM good as new!!

Tried ur method of cleaning usb ports, didnt work lol.. (i blew in them/phone too)..
im currently on C.L. lookin for a new phone, I WOULD hate to have to leave the vibrant community.. yall been great with roms/drama LOL..
im slowly losing hope on this .. but im continuing to try and fix this
Couple of things. Why don't you go over to the Dev section and download the AIO toolbox. Tiber I think has a link in one of the last posts that should still be working. It has all the pit/tar files, drivers (I know, I know), Odin and is very handy. Don't forget to make usre you have the .net files too.
Then try this
Make sure you have ODIN OPEN with admin privileges!
1.) Take off your back cover, remove your sim & mirco sd card.
2.) Remove your battery.
Make sure you have the USB plugged into your PC but NOT your phone!
3.) Hold the volume buttons.
4.) Put the battery in.
5.) Put the USB in.
You don't necessarily need the download mode image to be present. As long as you are getting the COM ID to light up yellow in ODIN, just flash back to stock like normal.

If all else fails, just keep trying. It boots up to Download mode so it is salvagable and not hard bricked. If you do end up finding a new phone on CL and want to donate you Vibrant, i am looking for one to work on some things with.

So the one Rapidshare from Tiber isn't working? What about the one from OldeCrow 2 posts up. If neither of them are working, I can get it to you later on tonight when I get home from work.
Regardless, if you have the drivers and have Odin installed, try the tricks in my earlier post and see it works that way. Panic mode is probably not deep set in, don't worry we'll get it on.
When you say yours (and 6 others) don't recognize the phone, are you talking about Mass Storage mode or do all 6 of your friends have Odin installed on their computers? Might seem like a BS question and I am sorry about that but it is a one or the other type situation. It will be in download mode OR mass storage.
Can you boot into recovery by chance?
Depending on what bootloader you have it will be (Froyo) Vol+/- and power or (GB) Vol+ and Power. Also not to sound noob-ish but just bc you have a GB ROM doesnt mean you have GB bl's. Dealt with that with someone else this week and fought me tooth and nail over it.
if you have clockwork mod installed you can put a rom on your SD card through your computer, wipe your phone and then flash the from with a full wipe.

That is what I am getting at.
If he can get into CWR then he can mount the phone to the computer in Mounts and Storage, put a simple 2.2 ROM on there and get it to boot up so that it works. then figure out the driver thing later on once we can get it to fully boot up.

oh and i did do the little tricks you said, i found that op..
that person had the same problem as me and everyone tried to help, they gave him/her links and everything.. i followed with the links too, and just like that person, none of them worked for me either
saw the download link that oldecrow posted.. its working.. downloading now
Ok. Keep trying once it is downloaded and let us know how it is going. I am getting ready to leave work soon, so I won't be on until later tonight but there are plenty of others that can help.
There's also the One-Click Vibrant DeBrick from Adam Outler. I've used it on my netbook on phones with your identical problem and its never failed yet.
Also, Heimdall on Ubuntu will flash it no problem, it does NOT need drivers like Windows does...

I was using ShishirRom (ICS) since a week. Today I was trying to flash CM9-Stable-Version in the morning. And 2 major problems occurred.
1. While I was transferring the CM-9-Stable-Version file to my phone, I was checking out the ROM Manager (I know you hate me already!!) and I pressed the Backup Current ROM Button instead of the back button on my phone. (**** Im stupid ) But wait there is more!
2. While I was finally able to get into Download Mode after 30 minutes of fiddling and was trying to flash via Odin to return to Stock and start all over again, my dear a$$hole friend pulled the plug while the Odin was in progress. (Yes, I am having one of those worst days)
Current situation: Phone does not boot-up - means NO ODIN RECOGNITION / NOT RECOGNIZED BY LAPTOP / NO DOWNLOAD-MODE / NO RECOVERY-MODE / NO CWM.
I have been googling about ADB and how to use it, but honestly I have not found on a How-to. I have read that ADB can reboot the phone into Download Mode or Recovery Mode, but I don't know how to use it. I don't know how to use ADB does not mean I didn't google it. I just couldn't find a guide to use it in my situation. If you can, please send me a link

Ok so this might look dumb of me, but I am desperate here. I know its a weekend, and everybody is drunk. And probably I am the only lonely trying to figure out what the hell is ADB!
I look up to this site and the developers here. And I shouldn't, but I have, started expecting from all of you knowledgeable individuals. I would be hurt to be let down. Please help!
Thank you everyone in advance.
Not sure if this is what you're looking for but worth checking out.

Im actually in the process of moving interstate. Once its done, I will contact the local AT&T shop to find out more on warranty replacement, since I am still under warranty.
Thank you anyway; even if it didn't start my phone, I still learnt a lesson: NEVER DO ANDROID STUFF IN OFFICE TIME, OR YOUR STUPID FRIEND WILL UNPLUG YOUR PHONE THINKING ITS JUST CHARGING.

I've downloaded all of the necessary files and drivers for Adam Outler's Once click root and bootloader unlock method but it never seems to get started. I run the Casual, and click the large "Do It" button, but then nothing happens. I don't get the prompt to continue and the "do it" button simply turns grey. I've let it sit for a while and still nothing.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled drivers as well as re-downloaded the Casual.
I've flashed with Odin back to stock.
I've installed Kies.
I'm running Win 7.
I've noticed others on YouTube have stated they have the same issue but I haven't been able to find a solution. Any help would be much appreciated.

Wish I could man, but I can't post links yet because I'm still considered a new user.
The best thing to do is delete your current drivers in device manager then plug your phone back in and let windows install them itself. You could also try Samsung Kies.
Here's a link to the Samsung drivers... hope its helps
