This is the full list of development on XDA that is either a recovery, ROM, or kernel for the Verizon variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note II.
Before we get to that, each project will be posted here with a link to the thread relevant to it. For credit's sake, I will also provide a link to the (main/active) developer of each project. *If you can, you should DONATE to these wonderful developers, this is hard work done on their own time!* *If you can't, at least hit thanks on the OP and rate the threads 5-stars to show your support!*
Personally, I can't believe all of the developers who share their great work with everybody, I can't thank all of you enough. By the way, today is Developer Day!
I separated ROM's and kernels into Touchwiz and AOSP categories.

I purposely excluded some development that hasn't been updated within the last 6 months. I realize there is other development for this model outside of XDA, but in the spirit of this great forum that we sometimes take for granted, I want to include only XDA-posted development in this list. I will update this as new development is created. Lastly, if I missed anything PM me.

Wow never realized how many roms are available for the note 2.
If you can't find a rom you like now you may never will...
Thanks! its like a table of contents....great one stop shop.
Great job on this Josh... Very useful!
the link for Devil (Dual-boot) Recovery leads to the kernel page for devil not the recovery. Just an FYI
He has the recovery posted there as well. Disregard
This would be the perfect one stop shop if the TW roms were separated for which are based on Verizon and which were international. Great job!

I was going to but this is mostly to teach new users, it's just a table of contents for the rest of us like shiftr said. So I don't want to dissuade any newcomer from ROM's that aren't on our native base, but I had to separate TW & AOSP because they are very different.
There's lots of different bases that even confuse me sometimes. I mean we have 5 different S/R/D's, t-mobile ports like Tweaked, AT&T one's like Alliance, others like Jedi or the Team Nocturnal ROM's, then you get into international base ROM's like Moon which has been on both international bases, or MIUI-TW which Warlock had to show me the github source code to figure out it was on a N7100 base. Unnecessary concerns when most of these ROM's are pretty stable.

The only reason I bring this up is because certain features like group MMS and network extenders do not function properly unless you are on the Verizon base.

I like TWRP. It's easy to install, to operate. I'm running Liquid Smooth 2.9 with Neak kernel 2.1 LTE. Neak is funny, because it's not made for Verizon, but it's works great. Just make sure it's L T E!

Sorry just saw this. If you flash a kernel, since you're only wiping cache and dalvik, the no need to backup anything because you're not wiping any data. Everything will stay the same with the rom itself.

Adam kernel would be a nice addition to your Touchwiz kernel list. I have used it for a while and it works extremely well. It does not have a lot of customizations, but it is an excellent choice. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2170184
Interesting I haven't seen anyone else say that they've used it but I'll add it tomorrow.

Do you cherry pick fixes from cm9? Such as notification volume fix?
Good news to hear that you work on aokp based rom, will have a try later.

Awesome to see more people feeding our AOKP-hungry devices :victory:
I'm wondering a little about the differences between this and Pier's vanilla builds (which i'm currently using). I don't actually know if he also deodexes and zipaligns his releases, but apart from that it will only be the cherry picks, right?

Seems like there's a lot of confusion in here, let me clear some doubts in here..
There's no official Support from AOKP for Galaxy S2 (I9100 international version), since none of the devs in AOKP own that device. But of course, that doesn't stop us from building from it . There are a lot of AOKP roms for I9100 and all of them are somehow modified in their own way. Resurrection Remix, Hydra, Xtreme etc.. have their own modifications done. On the other hand, there are some "pure" "vanilla" aokp roms out there. Pier's builds are straight from AOKP with some CM changes, but this does have it's disadvantages because, not all CM fixes/features are committed by AOKP. But Pier is doing an excellent job at keeping it as AOKP as he can. RootBOX, is also another "pure" AOKP because there isnt any modifications done to it except for the Lockscreen waves. The only difference between RootBOX and Pier's builds, is that I apply a lot of fixes and essential features from CM even though AOKP team doesn't apply them.(It's called cherry-picking) I also implemented Aroma, which actually gives you the option to add more features to the rom or simply keep it pure.

There's no official support, you're right on that. But you just introduced another Vanilla build when Pier is already doing the same thing. Just my opinion, don't take it offensively..

Try Resurrection remix 2.6.1. Based on ICS and stable as a rock. I'm pretty new myself and been using it for a while.Easy to install and no issues whatsoever. :good:
First of all, are you sure you have an i9100 and not an i9100G, a skyrocket (AT&T or Rogers), a Galaxy S2 LTE HD, etc?
If you do have an i9100, this is the forum for you. If not, try and find your right forum...
I'd look in the SGS2 android dev forums and not the Original Android Dev forums. Alot of cooks have ROMs with SGS3-like themes... And there's possibly a touchwiz5 mod in the themes section. I know the ripple lockscreen was ported too...
To be honest, alot of ROMs exist but it's a question of taste... I know Resurrection remix is a popular one. Alot of people switched to Cyanogenmod when ICS hit though, as ICS wasn't up to par for Samsung's implementation...
Your best bet is to flash a custom kernel with CWM recovery in Odin (Alot of guides to do this) like CF-Root and then grab ROMs and flash them through CWM. If you want a kernel that's able to dual boot, you can use DreamKernel, Siyah, etc. That way you can get one ROM going and test a second ROM as a secondary. Dual booting can be achieved because we have a 500MB partition on our phones that isn't used for anything... Fun, is it not?
And The other rom is pfittech ics rom and is also stable and he is working on stable jb rom as among other devs

I'd go with rootbox. Just because the dev updates more frequently does not mean it's a better rom. The ones who don't update frequently just mean they don't have bugs to fix...

Paranoid Android has more UI choices from normal to hybrid. Really good and stable ROM. Cyanogen will are the main source. You have any problems its them that fix it not Paranoid. I'm on Cyanogen now. Was on Paranoid and enjoyed it. I'd rather stability than anything else.
Please read the rules about posting in the correct sections.

This one I did not closed because the OP is asking about a comparison between two specific roms not asking a general "which rom is best". I feel this thread is ok and tolerable. lol
only thing i dont like about cyanogen is that you cant have a brightness slider, i use paranoid but a recommendation i could make is install the latest siyah kernel then run one as a first rom and the other as second rom and give them both a try i do it for omega stock touchwiz and pa very useful :3

How do you mean by "run as first rom and the other as second"?
He means dual boot, see siyah kernel thread. But quite odd to dual boot with two non Sammy (or 2 Sammy) roms
More logical to use paranoid as it's cm based with more features.
Newb question here:
But, what's the difference between CM10 and Paranoid Android?
Since Paranoid Android is built on CM10 - wont it just have a few extra features? (Hybrid mode looks cool imo.)

Don't you think hybrid is a big difference ? Just flash and compare, no one will be able to choose for you. Ten minutes work, restore is easy with nandroid, you could even try without data wipe as it's same base. But CM10 bugs ==> Paranoid.
I look at the voting poll and it's pretty close. Right now I'm running CM10. I must to say that the battery life rocks. The only thing that I don't like that much is the Contacts feature, a lot of stuffs are missing. Ow and also I can't find Power Saving mode in Settings?

The latest Syiah Kernel allows you to dual boot your phone. So you can have two different roms installed.
I use CM10 because it has faster/more frequent updates. (Usually every night hence "nightly") (could be a good or bad thing though... I feel like I have to flash something on my phone every day. Flashing is sooo addicting lol.)
PA is based on CM10 and will have to wait for CM10 to release its update before it too updates. The PA team is also quick to update when it happens though.
But PA has added features to CM10 that some people may or may not like. Hybrid mode and enabling/disabling hard/soft keys are one of top features that comes to mind.
Dude, first of all.. you CAN'T let other people decide on what you "want"
You just have to try it for yourself..

I'm trying out right now the CM10. Very awesome! I will give a try to PA also.
Just wanted to know which was more stable ..
This is a little off the Paranoid and CM10 but what I tried was this...
Downloaded Omega v29 & Omega v2.0 and dropped into SD Card,
Formatted my Internal Memory, (like completely formatted),
Flashed Omega v29, once done, set it up, and there is S Teaks in the App Drawer, open it up and go across to Dualboot and click the ''Reboot into 2ndROM Utils''
Down the bottom there is dual-boot options, go into that, Format 2md Rom system, Wipe 2nd Rom data/cache and wipe dalvik-cache, and fix permissions, then install zip to from External SD (where you put the omega v2.0 file, and flash that. And the rest is as is comes.
It will reboot and you have a choice to click the home button to go to your 2nd rom or click anything else to go to 1st Rom.
Worth it, due to both those Omegas are different UI, I got Omega v29 for Gaming and 2.0 for sexy show off looks.
i used PA before im on CM10.1 based rom,
PA - i like the phablet mode etc but it has no statusbar transparency
CM - i love the speed, themes and the softbutton below its like a built in. battery and performance are great.
i dont know which is better since i used the same kernel with that 2 cusrom marmite kernel

This is a discussion and information thread for the progress of stock based rom development.
I want to keep you up to date for the current development progress and invite you to join or discuss about new projects.
First I want to introduce to you the people who are involved in this current project.
Hashcode (STS-Dev-Team)
Deveshmanish
Ravikirancg
alteredlikeness
Biotik
Each one here is working on its own projects, but we are statically in contact to help out each other, so this has some kind of a team character. But this is NOT something like a "closed team"! Everybody, every dev and everyone who wants is invited to be part of this new fast progressing kind of development for Roms, Kernels and all other Android stuff. I think we should not longer stay alone with our stuff because we can reach our goals much faster when working together - or at least being in contact and share our knowledge!
In example the last weeks have been full of success regarding to Kexec-, Kernel- and Stock-based development - with the big help of the people mentioned above!
Current Progress
Yesterday we made it to boot Catalyst Rom (VZW .16 - based) on my GSM device with full working service - with the first stock Kexec kernel! This opens many new possibilities and brings our good old Razr on a new level - AGAIN!
Now we have a working kexec setup for stock based roms and I made a GSM- and a CDMA-Patch, so all users - no matter what region their devices are from - can run all stock-based rom - also no matter which stock kernel they have installed on their devices!
First, I will release a "Kexec-Patch" which can be flashed over ANY Stock-based rom to boot it on ANY device - including the needed network patches! The kernel has been finished and I will release it tonight. Note that this kernel is not modified in a way like JBX-Kernel! It is a copy of stock kernel which was made ready for kexec by the STS-Dev-Team!
Next, we make a Custom-Kernel for stock-based roms with mods like JBX-Kernel! The first Rom to run with it will be Catalyst v3!
We don't want to keep our work only for our projects - everyone should have access to it! Each dev should be able to use it for his work! It's free and open source - and it should behandled like this!
Devs are invited to join our group hangouts on Google Plus! Together we will make fast progress in all kind of development! PM me for access!
I will keep you up to date in this thread!

Excellent news! I was wondering, when you said full working service, did that happen to include 1080p video and HDMI? I know the other kexec Roms have these issues.
Regardless of my question, truly amazing work.

On kexec stock the camera seems working fully, yes. But service meant to be Networks.
so... in near future with the "new" kexec + f.e. cm 10.1 and we have everything working ?? or it will only fully work with 4.1.2 firmware... ??
Great ideea !
Thank you
The camera only works fine for Stock based roms because it uses the original cam libs. But we cannot use the cam libs on AOSP roms! Tghe cam drivers are partly closed source, that's what makes it difficult. But Hashcode is working on that.
Edit: Just released the patches, see dev section.
Ok new guy here.... What the he!! is the difference in kexec and catalyst can someone explain all this to me easily?? Im coming from a gnexus and have know idea what this really means. I gather it a good thing for all of us but it's all very confusing to me still. So for being the noob!!!!

So if I flash the Patch on CM 10.1 or AOKP, the camera will not recording in Full HD?

Kexec is a method to bypass our Razr's locked bootloader and run Custom Kernels.
The main problem with the locked bootloader is that we cannot reun custom kernels - usually. And also we cannot use any stock kernel - i.e. when a GSM user wants to use a stock-based CDMA Custom rom he used to wipe the CID (region check) to be able to flash the CDMA kernel which is needed to run this. But thanks to the secure version which are being checked by bootloader users who have updated to Moto official JB cannot flash the VZW kernel anymore - so they cannot use the CDMA roms!
Now we have KExec! This allows us to run any rom on a custom kernel! The metnioned problems are history now.
But besides of that it allows us to run JB AOSP Roms on Custom Kernels - just like my JBX-Kernel.
You are coming from G-Nex? Well, you might know how many kernels are available for G-Nex - and what nice features they provide (OC, GPU OC, BLX, BLN, etc, etc..). My JBX-Kernel provides a lot of these features to the Razr owners All that wouldn't be possible without kexec.

NO! And I explained the reason already. PLEASE FORGET THAT VERY FAST!
And about the battery consumption? After flashed the patch, the battery life will be bad like CM 10.1 and AOKP?

Nope, it will be like stock.
I need someones help! I have to rebuild the moto_crypto module to make the JBX-Stock-Kernel working on VZW-Based Roms!
But I am not really aware of shell script language. Could someone please tell me how to link the Makefile(s), etc to connect this module source to the kernel source?
Or at least read the build script you find in the linked source and tell me what exactly is set there (I understand most parts - but not enough)

Ediot: Nevermind, got it.
Question, using Motorola stock kernel is better than a custom one right? I know it may be stepping your heart dtrail, I experience certain reboot a day due to dos, so in order to get boot again, I will have to flash your kernel again. It is quite annoying indeed. Such problem does not exist in stock rom. You know, I choose Motorola because I trust in its built quality, I trust in its stability.
Apart from that, the new progress mentioned here means we can use Motorola kernel to run any aosp rom, am I figure out in the right track?
Thank you so much!

You misunderstood. Please read the OP more carefully - I explained that question several times now (regarding to the benefits of the current kernel)
To your problem: I don't have that problem. My phone runs multiple days (until 1 week) without any problems (and not a single reboot). And for me the custom kernel is much better than stock because I get better battery life, performance and options. Many users reported the same in the kernel thread. So yours must be a device related or usage related problem.
I don't know your settings, so I cannot help you with that. You can do tjat: Make screenshots from all Trickster Mod pages that I can see your settings.
Although I'm using a Razr XT912,I'm so glad seeing all these development goin' so fast. Thanks a lot,dtrail1. You've been doing a great job for XT910 users especially this Razr community in general. I've been in love with your JBX kernel.

Little update
Currently fixing 4.3 JBX. This could take some more time than thought before..But it will work, that's the most important thing now.
The Stock Core Kernel which is a direct JBX port for Stock based roms is almost finished! I will launch a testing phase this week.
MIUI is kind of special - who knows ? Actually I can boot and run the Stock Core kernel with it but the UI is kind of slow. The log is telling me nothing so I have to dig deeper.
But because I am working on all of these projects on my own it will take time. Be patient and stay tuned!
Besides of the Kernel(s) I am working together with Biotik on Catalyst Project and also currently merging STS-Dev-Team's progress on the completely rebuilt 3.0.31 and 3.0.88 Kernel....Great things are coming, yes! But I have to be on my own - Seems like that!
I am still waiting for someone's contribution into my projects - but also loosing hope slowly...
Thanks man
Is it possible to download it yet?
Is there a stock ROM with DPI controls?
I am currently on the PAC MAN 4.3 ROM and am thoroughly enjoying it.
But just wondering if it's possible to use the latest stock JB ROM for our i717, and have some DPI controls.
Any help/guidance would be appreciated!
i believe both the 4.1.2 custom roms have xposed included, it wont be the great hybrid experience you get with pa's engine, but it will do the job

Hey Jamie! Thanks for the response. I'm still a big fan of your original PA rom work! (Although I am on PacMan at the moment :silly.
I really need the DPI change for the launcher (currently Nova) , and a few other apps like Gmail, and the Playstore.
I wanted to keep SOME of the original features of the stock JB rom from Samsung (wifi direct/all share crap), and few other features. Would the 4.1.2 custom roms with xposed be the route to take?
I am enjoying the 4.3 roms, and other custom ROMs, but am starting to need and lean toward the stability of the stock ROM.
Your "further" advice is always appreciated!
And...would you mind directing me to which 2 4.1.2 roms you are referring to? Thanks!
stability depends on user really, me evervolv 4.3 is rock stable and has everything i need so i never touch stock roms, but check out blackstar if you want a modded stock tw with dpi stuff
