What i have posted here is the leaked Market APK, from the new Android version i.e. Ice Cream Sandwich. There is not much of the visual differences, but it still seems to be performing better.
It is somewhat, faster than the so called "New Market" that we got on our X10.
Just download and install the APK. If that doesn't works, follow the steps mentioned below.
Rooted Phone is must.
First enable "UNKNOWN SOURCES" in the Application Setting, of your Device Menu.
If you do struggle installing this version of the Market, the follow these steps:-
1)Download the file (Phonesky.apk), and copy it to your SD card.
2)In Root Explorer, find the file you just downloaded and copy it.
3)Move into /system/app and hit the R/W button to mount – then paste the file.
4)Find Vending.apk and rename it to something like Vending.apk1.
5)Long press on Phonesky.apk and rename it to Vending.apk.
6)Afterwards, long press on it again and choose “Permissions.”
7)Change the permissions to the ones in the attached thumbnail.
8)Now hit the OK button and reboot..
Hit thanks button, if you liked it
Wrong post, this belongs in themes and apps.
And we read androidworld to.
I already have it on my phone
Thanks
Actually, I don't read androidworld...
You mean, YOU read it
Not everyone else, haha!
Not development....

Hi,
The thread for AmeriCanAndroid AOSP HD2 GB2.3.7 CM7.1 is now 17K+ replies & I was lost in there trying to find a solution for the Market problem "This app is incompatible with your phone" even for some apps already installed like facebook!
What I did after getting help from lots of replies in the thread is:
1- Install ES file Explorer.
2- in ES FE: settings->Root Explorer (checked)
3- in ES FE: settings->Mount File System (checked)
4- Brows to /sdcard/Android/
5- Click to edit "startup.txt" & chose an editor (I've ES Note Editor)
6- Edit the lcd_density=167 to lcd_density=240
7- Exit editor saving the file.
8- Brows to /system/
9- Click to edit "build.prop" & chose an editor (I've ES Note Editor)
10- Scroll all the way down till you find & edit the ro.sf.lcd_density=167 to ro.sf.lcd_density=240
11- Exit editor saving the file.
12- in ES FE: settings->Mount File System (UN-CHECK)
13- Exit ES FE.
14- Open Android App Manager
15- Select Market App
16- Select "Details/Clear cache/Force stop"
17- Click "Force stop" & "OK"
18- Click "Clear data" & "OK"
19- Exit App Manager
20- Re-boot
My problem was fixed & I installed all the apps without any problems.
Thanks to Warren and Cope
All I did was to force close Market and clear data, no reboot required.
THX I Love It
I am faced with the same issue so was very excited to find your post; however I cannot even go past step 1 since ES file explorer turns out to be one of those apps that the market says are not compatible with my device.
Do you have a workarround for that?
Thanks a lot!
Dude, seriously?
You're opening a new thread in the wrong section for this?
Your way costs lots of time and changes the resolution.
Just change in startup.txt the lcd_density=167 to lcd_density=160.
This won't change your resolution, compared with your way.
Start Android, open the Rom Manager app.
Touch "Fix Permissions".
When it's done reboot and you're ready to go.
Resoution Changed

Is this also happening with you or only me?

I'm glad that your way is shorter - I wish you posted before - I just wanted to share what fixed my problem after going through 1000's of posts in the thread!
I think adding more posts to the original ROM thread is really complicating things ... anyway, the moderators can just move this post to any where appropriate.
Thanks,

Yes, this is what it is all about - but you may try TT5555 method - it didn't work on my device but it seems that every device has its own personality

You took my overreacting post very good, sport.
Well, thanks for trying to help people I think this question has been asked over and over again in the ROM thread, so actually you've got a point there.
Thank you so much for posting this. I've tried both methods and they both work. For me, TT555's method is my favorite. What I love about the AmeriCanAndroid build was the resolution.
Actully the original post has the solution long time ago!!
Do you why that happens "check the original post"!!
Mr. AmeriCanAndroid also recommended to set it 1x0, 240 just back to the way it was!!
@kontradictions:
I use this to control the resolution after applying the fix:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.wemobs.android.lcdresolution
@hkmate:
I said that I got the solution from the original thread but try to look for it in +17000 posts & tell me how to find it
that fixed that problem, does anyone know how to fix why it doesnt let me send pics thru picture messaging

Hi,
I have applied your fix for LCD Density and Market device compatibility. It is awesome and I thank you. I have struggled with this for last few months!
Now I have changed my HD2 to 800x480 to 160dpi resolution and run Fix Permissions. Then rebooted the phone, cleaned Market cache and settings, run it again, and every application that I could not update before now is compatible with device
I have a problem though. There are artifacts on some gadgets, there is artifact on left side of the status buttons (once I expand status bar). There are artifacts on my on-screen keyboard (button images are different, strange empty gaps, transparencies).
Are there any fixes for these problems?

I did not edit the build.pro and it still works. In my case, ro.sf.lcd_density= in build.pro will be changed automatically according to the lcd_density in startup.txt

EDIT:
It now does work and i have no idea why or what changed ...
Not sure what's going on with my HD2 but I'm no longer able to update basic apps like Google Maps, I get the "not compatible with your device" message. Actually Google Maps wasn't even listed anymore so I set the density to 160 with LCD Density, cleared the cache of Google Play and it's back but I still have that error message. Is Google Maps "gone" for good from our HD2s ?
Just wondering if anyone knows a way to remove the writing at the bottom of the lock screen "Swipe screen to unlock"
I'm running stock ICS I9100XXLP6 (XXLPB hsdpa+ radio doesn't work for me for some reason) I also cant take a screen shot for an example not sure if it's a bug or user error lol..

You guys should try Widget Locker in the mean time. Its got an ics lockscreen that works flawlessly
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I'd like a way to remove this as well. I've been reading posts saying "it just goes away" but mine hasn't and I've been on this ICS build since its release on Feb. 9.
Anyone got any suggestions OTHER than using an app like Widget Locker?
Well. OK, but only for who doesn't frigthen himself to use a hex editor and has root, cwm, and so on...
If you have a modified rom or you're about to load one in your phone, you can also do this mod directly in the zip file of the rom.
In every case, in the folder system/framework you can find the file framework-res.apk. Copy it on your desktop, change its extension to .zip (you know it) and open it. In it you'll find the file resources.arsc. Well, open it in a hex editor and "search" the phrase "Swipe to unlock" in your idiom. Change the very first byte of the phrase to hex "00" and eventually all the others to "FF". Save, close, revert the extension to the original ".apk" and copy the modified file over the original. Reboot and voilà, your lock screen is now clean...
I hope my english was enough correct and clear to be understood...
Thank's a lot vanallen !

I tried your method on Galaxy Ace 2 (2.3.6) and it works, but there's a strange effect: if I hold lock button, phone immediately starts to shut down, while, before this trick, a menù with several options appeared (Data Connection, SIlent Mode, Shut Down and others)... is this normal? or I did something wrong?
For stock roms i'm sure there's an option to not show help text on the lockscreen if you go to Display then untick the box

I'm unable to find that option... (translating from Italian)
"Display menu":
-Display (other sub-menus to change: font style, main wallpaper, lockscreen wallpaper, clock position)
-Brightness
-Automatic Rotation
-Animations
-Screen timeout
-Softkeys light timeout
But there's another menu (sorry for traslation again):
"Security and Position menu":
-User's position (other submenus)
-Sim Block
-Find personal devices (submenus: warn on sim change, messagge recipients, remote controls)
-Visible Passwords
-Device Administrator
-Show credentials (other submenus)
-Lockscreen settings with two submenus:
a) Debug mode toggle
b) Set Lockscreen with these choices: None, Pattern, Pin, Password
Pattern, Pin and Password are easy to understand... but "None" does not disable Swipe to unlock, it simply means "not pattern, not pin, not password"... if I select "none", I have always to swipe after pressing power button or home button...
What's the matter?

One word: CAUTION: If you want to back up your framework-res.apk, DO NOT RENAME IT, it will get you soft-bricked!
COPY the file to a safe location, never rename the original file since the framework is used while the system runs!
I must admit that I just made the mistake and had to restore from a backup.
Since updating to 3.2 I have a problem with Swype on the browser. When I type something it auto highlights the last 2 letters of whatever word it is so that when I swype the next word it goes over what was highlighted. It is incredibly annoying.

This seems to be a bug introduced with the newest 3.2 Samsung released. Since I love Swype so much, I rooted my GT just so I could remove the old version of Swype and install the Beta, which I am happy to report does not have this deletion issue!
The quick how-to for removing the pre-installed Swype is as follows:
If you don't already have it, install ES File Explorer
To set up ES File Explorer:
Menu > Settings > Home Directory: change from /sdcard/ to /
Scroll down, check the boxes for Root Explorer and Mount File System
Hit Back
Press the 'Up' icon to get to the root folder
Tap 'System' then 'lib', and find libSwypeCore.so. Long press it, select 'Rename' and change the name to libSwypeCore.so.bak
Tap 'Up' again, and next go to the 'app' folder, find Swype.apk and change it's name to Swype.apk.bak
Exit ES File Explorer and proceed to install the Swype Beta.
Changing the names of the old Swype files to have .bak at the end allows you to easily remove the updated Swype Beta install and restore the old Swype should you ever need to (simply remove the .bak from the file names - it may require a restart to get it working again after restoring these files).

Hi guys and gals. after many attempts, i have working cricket mms on my evo 3d
So... you root and research a good custom rom for you. You flash it, all goes well, it looks cool, feels nice you are on top of the world... (like I was) then you find your mms does not work...
here you go
1. make sure you have es file explorer downloaded
2. open your es file explorer
3. go to settings and select Root settings
4. check all the boxes and grant for superuser
now you are looking at the files on your sd card
5. click the "slash" icon on the top left
now you are looking at the whole phone
6. scroll down and select "system"
7. scroll down and select " build.prop"
it will ask you which program to use. I used the es note editor
NOTE you will be changing the build properties of you rom from sprint values to Cricket values
BE CAREFUL NOT TO CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE!!!
9. scroll down slowly you will see ro.build.fingerprint=Sprint
delete Sprint and change it to cricket
10. scroll down about 1/2 of the way down and you will see additional build properties
you will be looking for 4 lines
gsm.sim.operator.alpha=(change to Cricket)
gsm.sim.operator.numeric=(change to 310016)
gsm.operator.alpha=(change to Cricket)
gsm.operator.numeric(change to 310016)
and about 3/4 fof the way down
ro.cdma.home.operator.alpha=(change to Cricket)
ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric=(change to 310016)
back out and SAVE
REBOOT TWICE!!!!!!!!
11. now go into you es file explorer again this time to system
12. select etc
13. scroll down to a file called apns-conf.xml
delete it!
download this one and edit it with your phone number with notepad+ on your computer
edit the second one, not the value 45
https://www.dropbox.com/s/mqixefjs829t7jg/apns-conf.xml
put the file on your sd card and copy it to your system/etc folder
REBOOT TWICE!!!
16. using the voice dialer say "open apn"
17. delete the one you see
18. select reset to default
now you should see 2 apns and a little circle beside both
click the circle beside "cricket"
REBOOT TWICE AND WAIT FOR THE SYSTEM TO CATCH UP
download this mms.apk (this is not mine.. i found it for the evo 4g somewhere)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/iq42wk65ifolv8u/Mms.apk
using es file explorer, delete your old mms.apk under system/apps
remember, you have to mount es as root rw every time you reboot
roboot and move the new mms.apk to the system/apps and install
next reboot
go back into es file and (set root rw again)move to the new mms.apk.
long press it and chose permissions.
set your permissions like the screenshot in at the bottom
this has been proven on my evo3d
NOTE. if you are a flashaholic, you will store the mms.apk and the apns-config.xml on your sd card so you can do this with every flash
if this helped you, press the thanks button please!!!
I use cricket and I have never changed the build.prop to get mms working. I change the apn and if it is a jellybean rom the mms.apk.

NOTE. if you are a flashaholic, you will store the mms.apk and the apns-config.xml on your sd card so you can do this with every flash
if this helped you, press the thanks button please!!!

why the hell hasn't more people been to directed to this thread with unbeatable mms problems with cricket just changing apn settings DOES NOT WORK for alot of cricket users.
Edit: guess i shoulda seen that it was done on a evo3d as it didn't work for my evo 4g i shoulda known when two lines were missing from the build prop. as soon as i got to the voice dialer with the apns there were no apns listed and hitting reset to default brough nothing. back to the battery sucking no blue tooth everything cricket rom. Ive tried litterally hundreds of roms and mustve edited apns 1000 times and still cant get mms to work except for one rom.
The mms.apk was found on a evo 4g site somewhere. Maybe there is something else. Or maybe it was a 4g LTE. I don't remember now, but I know it will not work on stock versions of sprint ROMs. I tried.....
