Rooting - HTC Amaze 4G

I was considering rooting my HTC amaze and am new to all this. What's the best and easiest way? Also, does this affect if I want to trade my phone in on an upgrade? Thanks for all the possible help.

Hello!
Well then best way to root in my opinion is to use hasoon2000's toolkit in the development section of the amaze.
If you need to return your amaze or trade it, I would suggest unrooting it by flashing a RUU. A RUU brings your device back to stock. Stock basically means 'unmodified'. Right now you're on the stock rom.

To root your phone use hasoon's aio toolkit.
And than unlock your bootloader through it .
After flash 4ext touch recovery and than flash supersu to gain root access !!
And ya to unlock your bootloader you'll need unlock_code.bin which you will get from htcdev.com.
Go there and unlock your bootloader !!!

S-on Rom help

I'm wondering how to flash a CM ROM on my phone without s-off. I know I have to go through fastboot but can someone give me a thread or something.
Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using xda app-developers app
I dont think its possible without S-Offing, since they require different Hboots.

What I'm asking is if I can go through fastboot to get it to flash
Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using xda app-developers app
fastboot is used to flash the boot partition. This is only useful for sense roms if you are s-on. For CM and aosp based roms you also require a different hboot and changing hboot is only possible with s-off.
I hope you get what I'm trying to say here. you cant run CM without gaining s-off first. There are some excellent guides in the general section on getting s-off. Trust me, it will save you a lot of hassle in the long run

Ok I guess that was the question I was getting at in the first place. I was just wondering if there was a way around the s-off roming situation. Thank you though.
Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using xda app-developers app
Simple steps you can do is use 4ext with smart flash on.
After flashing the rom and gapps.
extract the boot.img file from the ROM.zip and place it in your fastboot directory.
Next use this command to flash the kernel.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Reboot.
Ok any way I can do this ON MY PHONE? just wondering?

[Q] Please someone help me root my HTC One X+

I have managed to unlock my phone, but I cannot root it! I simply want to flash a ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987885
Please help me. I have rooted an HTC Vivid once before, but my knowledge on rooting is very small.
There is no need to root just to flash a custom rom, just unlock bootloader, flash a custom recovery and flash the rom. The custom rom will come with root access enabled.

1. A good way to go about rooting your phone would be to have a look around the forum, and see if any help topics have been posted. Even the most cursory look will likely get you what you seem to be looking for.
2. If you have done the above, then do tell us what you have tried, where you got to, and what error'ed out. That would help people help you.
A wrong way to go about this business would be to post a new topic in the help subforum, asking someone to help you root, without having done any of the above.

Sorry about that. I attempted to flash several ROMs and managed to somehow delete my os. I was able to restore my phone with a RUU after 12 hours of trying to bring it back lol. My phone is currently relocked. I would love to put a ROM with sense 5 on my phone, but I am worried about bricking my phone again. I tried to find threads to help me, but I for some reason was unable to find a thread that actually explained how to root, and put a custom ROM on the HTC One X+. If someone could explain step-by-step how to approach this I would very much appreciate the help.

So after I've unlocked my phone where would I go to flash the custom recovery, and flash the ROM?

Download and copy across a Sense 5 ROM - I use Insertcoin and its great
Just use Hasoon's toolkit to unlock your phone and flash TWRP. your old unlock.bin should work
reboot into recovery, wipe (dont format your storage), and flash the ROM
flash the boot image
Done

I've been doing some reading, and I think I'm an idiot lol. I heard there isn't a sense 5 ROM for AT&T non-international yet (though I could be wrong), and I'm pretty sure that's what my phone is.

Download whatever recovery .img you wan't, and the custom rom.
Copy the custom rom to your internal storage.
Then just boot into fastboot and use the command "fastboot flash recovery xxxx.img" reboot into recovery and flash rom.

[Q] Re-Locking DNA for Warranty/Sale

OK, some background and disclaimers.
I searched as best as I could and read the FAQ and couldn't find anything that would help me--the relocker thread from 26 Nov 2012 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017525) looked useful but too dated. So no flames please!
I bought this phone off a Verizon store manager in early June, who didn't mention that he had rooted it (or failed to return it to bone stock via re-locking it). Recently, it's been losing bluetooth connection to my car, losing the SIM Card connection, and failing to accept the OTA update (which is a daily, obnoxious occurrence). I checked with a VZW employee today and my phone is still under warranty, so I plan to send it in for replacement due to the former two problems.
Problem 1: Transferring a phone between accounts voids the warranty. Solved, as I won't say anything, and am mysteriously still under warranty.
Problem 2: Unlocking/rooting a phone voids the warranty. However, if I can manage to re-lock the phone, then all should be good.
I'm obviously a casual user and have zero idea how to re-lock the phone or even check if it's still rooted. Yes, I am a newbie.
What should I do?
Whenever I try to run the OTA, I am booted into ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.3.1.
Other relevant stuff:
Android 4.1.1
Software: 2.06.605.1 710RD
Please let me know what else you need to know.
Thank you!

Ok. I'm doing my best to do it on my own without asking dumb questions, but the post I found (yours, actually-- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293919) says it's for Facepalm/JTAG/RevOne/Moonshine, which I assume are OSes. But my understanding isn't that my phone is flashed or rooted, just that it's unlocked and I have to get rid of the bootloader, which is the Clockwork Recovery mod.
I just tried this http://www.androidcentral.com/is-my-phone-rooted with ConnectBot and don't appear to be rooted.
All those names are s-off methods...
Just use my lock zip, ruu = profit

Thanks for your help. I had some trouble--mostly because I assume you wrote the guide for an average developer who already has all the SDK stuff installed on his computer, and I didn't. But I figured it out. Much appreciated!

no I am not sure what to flash. I jus went to the international thread and am lost. This is my first HTC root job. I guess I just need a step by step some where
You need to first get TWRP and fastboot flash recovery xXxX. Img. Look at the first page of that post though. I think it's pretty much a rough step by step. You need to get fastboot and adb installed on your computer first if u haven't done that already. Can't remember if they mentioned that

The file you need to flash for root is there but that original link was for if the root does not take. But you may want to install a root checker to confirm root.
after you flash recovery,i used the chairfire root zip instead of the one in the intl root thread, as that didn't work for me.
so flash recovery
flash chainfire's root
presto!
Thanks guys.. gonna try again tonight. I'll let you know .

Help rooting new HTC One M8

Yes if you are on the stock rom with no deleted or modified system apps, however the update will most likely break root and could result in the inability to root in the future. Usually within days of an update, someone mods the new update and posts it in the dev forum for those who are unable to update, at least that was my experience on the S3.

yes, just boot into twrp, don't flash it.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I was somehow able to just push SuperSu onto my phone, no need go into fastboot or anything. After I unlocked the bootloader I restarted my phone and just clicked on Perm Root, it did its thing, I restarted one more time and boom SuperSu was there and root was verified with root checker.
