[Q] Just bricked an Eken a90 clone & boy are my arms tired - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, thanks for taking a look.
My Eken a90 clone is now merely lighting the backlight of the display and not much else.
My unmodded device went into boot loop after I uninstalled an apk & I decided then was a good time to finally look into rooting it and installing custom firmware as the factory firmware is not available for download from the manufacturer. First I flashed cwm6028-a10-9part-v2.zip and I was able to boot into cwm. Then I flashed cm10_a10_20121011.zip and CM10 installed wonderfully and I was thrilled. Next I was supposed to flash gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip but did not. I had confused myself and mixed up my steps. Instead I flashed t02_compatibility_1.2.0.zip which may not have been the compatability zip I even needed. I did not realize my error until it was too late and now the device has no display and I cannot enter recovery. I can push files but I cannot flash to it. I have tried pushing the cwm & cm10 .zips to sdcard but this has had no effect I felt I should ask for help. Though I have used android devices for years, this is my first experience with custom firmware.

Thanks for that. I downloaded and installed it, drivers and all. Now I'll be good to go if I can find a suitable factory img. I have access to a second unmodded tablet of the same model, perhaps I can get an img file from it somehow.

[Q] Option 3 brick or something else? Sad TF201. [solved]

Hi there.
It seems that I can't help myself anymore.
Got a prime with JB bootlader 10.4.2.18 and TWRP 2.4.3.0 on it.
Flashed SuperSU using TWRP and, after that, tried to flash
ParanoidAndroid for my device. (pa_tf201-3.10-07MAR2013-190411.zip)
Right after starting the flashing procedure TWRP seems to crash.
(It immediately shows it's splash screen again and gets laggy.)
I also tried other TF201-JB-ROMs but it happens with any of them!
I can access TWRP and Fastboot! But I got no ROM on the device
and aint able to flash one.
After hours of searching and reading it still looks like a Option 3 brick
to me and I don't know what to do next.
Some ppl tell to write the original blob from Asus' 10.4.2.18 stock rom,
others advise against that because it will get hard-bricked. I'm stuck.
Any ideas?
Seems to be solved.
Instead of using my MicroSD-card to install the new ROM I now just
used ADB to transfer the file directly onto the device.
It worked fine for cm-10.1-20130308-UNOFFICIAL-tf201.
I'll try AndroWook_Hairy_Bean_v1.51_FINAL tomorrow, or shouldn't I?
trust me andro wook HB 1.51 is the best at all !
i tried each and every one of Roms and no one can beat HB !
if u can live without changing themes or multi user features Andro Wook is best choice for u ...
must annoying issue in other none stock based Roms is that no one of them can play movies in HW acceleration mode . ( image quality will be very lower in other modes )
u should wipe system before flashing new Roms (specially after CM Roms ) ...
its a little risky but best results will come from it !
sorry for my terrible english

[Q] MT firmware reboot non responsive screen

Hi ,
i have updated the firmware on my nook tablet 16gb version for multitouch and when the device rebooted everythings up cept the screen is non responsive, i have CM 10.X ver 4.2.2 on the device and everything worked before so im guessing that something either went wrong or that this version doesnt support multi touch ?
anyways can you guide me as to how to either revert to old 2 point or get multi touch up completly ?
any links to tuts would be awesome thanks
spyder
To go back to 2-touch: you can burn one of Succulent's CM10 SDcard images (http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2013/02/18/cm10-1-jellybean-android-4-2-2-for-nook-tablet-0218/) to SDcard, boot up CM10 on SD, then use the Touch FW Flasher app to revert back.

hi, i checked the link you sent me and the download is the same image i already have on my sd card. I am redownloading it now and will try it again. i believe i did something stupid . i used the firmware flashing tool without adding anything , i didnt download a file and add it to the directory i though it was already there and after the firmware flash the system auto rebooted , upon coming back up i had a totally non responsive touch screen, when i reboot to the main system BN stock os i got the same thing. i think i need to learn how to adb into the tablet and push the either MT firmware file or 2 point and flash it over ADB , is that possible and if so i could use some help , im not new to firmware flashing but on this tablet this is my first attempts,
thanks , i previously also read the MT firmware .zip instructions and saw that you are supposed to add it to the file structure on the tablet , this i did not do ,
any thoughts ?
thanks
OMG THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO very very very much ! i did what you told me and its now responsive again i though i was doomed to crack it open to find the chip to manually flash you saved my bacon thank you

Custom rom installation

OK I've got a tablet here Mach Speed Trio Stealth Pro. Not main stream I know. I want to flash a rom to it. I've got the rom cm9_nightly_20120721 a file called gapps-ics-20120429-signed and lyf1_compatability_1.2.0 From what I've read I'm to intstall the rom first then gapps then compatability. I'm just not sure how to deploy it. I can put this tablet in recovery mode but only from within the OS. I've tried the button combo that's suppose to do it but all I get is a blue light but nothing on the screen. So hopefully this can be done in one swoop.
So should I put everything on the SDcard and then tell it update from sdcard and then choose the rom? I've never flashed a custom rom before so please forgive my noobness and my lowly tablet. After the rom is installed I'll have to be able to do the other 2 files before I boot because without them nothing will work. If this goes right I'll have a lot more functions when it's finished. Most notably bluetooth support.
Also I'd like to backup the factory rom first. Not sure how to do that either. I have the full version titanium backup and backed up all of the system files but I'm not sure that will get me back to stock if this goes wrong. I believe CWM is device specific so unless there's a generic version I'm out of luck there.
Thanks to all who bless this noob with knowledge.

[Q] Rooted, but can't install custom recovery...

Ok, so I've rooted and put custom roms on numerous phones. I've been trying to put a custom recovery, twrp or cwm, whatever, on my wife's phone, but have got a wall. I know for sure, 100% that I am rooted. I tired to install twrp and cwm via their respective apps, ends up in either bootloop trying to boot into recovery (and FYI, the screen shows that a custom recovery is installed, just doesn't load into recovery and restarts). And tried both via Odin, but got the same result. Have never ran into this problem before with any of my phone's, all of the galaxy's and Galaxy Note's since the S2. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks homies!
Just to add, yes I made sure double checked, triple checked that I was installing the correct recovery for the phone model. Also, she has done all the ota updates that sprint has pushed as of last week (2/9/15).

OK, from your post it looks like you have done this before. To be sure lets go through the motions one more time.
Your device is updated to 4.4.4 NK4 the latest KitKat version. It's rooted you have supersu icon and run a root checker. First download again ( in case you got a bad download ) a copy of Philz CWM version 6.48.4 here is the link https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/hlte/ use "phil'z_touch_6.48.6-hlte.tar.md5" . I like to use odin version v1.85 it's little older but very stable, here is a link https://mega.co.nz/#!oA5xzTAL!LXoVWB...ZlOMSWdRGVX6Uo now flash the .tar file with odin. Make sure you let device boot up on it's own back to the OS, do not pull the cable and boot the device yourself. Then try and boot into recovery.
If it bootloops again, I would backup all your data to the PC desktop, and then do a factory reset get back to bone stock ( that means when your in download mode it says Samsung Official status not custom ) so many times I have seen folks with an unrooted device where the bootloader still says custom and you end up with a dirty flash or worse. It may take a couple factory resets to get back to stock, it doesn't always take the first time. When I flash a custom rom and then decide to go back to stock, I flash the rom two or three times to make sure I'm bone stock.
If the factory reset doesn't work you may have to flash a new stock NK4 OS. Then root again and install the recovery. Here is my thread with all the info you need http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/general/samsung-note-3-rom-flashin-basics-t2896440 , Enjoy !!!
Thanks for taking the time to give me a detailed response. Sounds like I'm gonna have to wait till Wednesday or Thursday when im off work and have some time to do this, but yeah, I was thinking maybe just a factory reset, but I'll use your links and try it one more time first. I'll let ya know. Thanks again
Do you have another link to the older Odin (1.85).the link says the file isn't there... Thanks again
Never got to test it out, but she didn't really want a custom rom anyway, just the WiFi hotspot, and I finally found a method that works, big shout out to idone for his awesome app. If anyone else is looking for WiFi hotspot without root that sees this, check out his tread in the apps and themes, for this phone. Worked like a charm. Thanks again jimzweb1. Much appreciate the reply!

Samsung Galaxy Note3 SM-N9005 Android 5.0 - no recovery

Hi All... help...
I have a Note3 SM-N9005 which is rooted. I have been trying to get CWM installed.
I started by using ROM Manager and this just didnt work at all - the recovery partition stayed stock.
So I downloaded the Samsung Note 3 (International) recovery image (6.0.4.6) (non-touch) from https://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager.
I used Cygwin to convert to a .tar file and then flashed to PDA using Odin.
All looked OK and Odin passed the install - however when I tried to reboot into recovery my Note3 just gets stuck in a boot loop - the only way I could get it working again was to re-flash using Odin and when it reboots it starts and works normally - but if I reboot into recovery mode it just keeps re-booting!!
Any thoughts on how to fix this or whether the best option is to flash a whole ROM with CWM already packed? Alternatively - any ideas on where I can get a CWM file which will work on my Note3?
Also - now this has started getting messy, any advice on backing up EFS (just in case )
Thanks in advance
So you reflashed the whole stock firmware via Odin and recovery still isn't working? Very strange. Rom Manager sucks and has for years now. Why didn't you just grab either CWM or TWRP (which I find way better for most phones) from the subforum for your phone here on Xda?

Hi es0tericcha0s
Thanks - TBH I have only just replaced my S4 with the Note3 and just set everything up - so didnt want to reflash with a custom ROM so followed the instructions for installing CWM... and failed I did install TWRP a while ago and couldnt really get on with it - if you think it is better I might reflash the whole phone with a new ROM and give it a go.
I think I did download a CWM img file from here and when I flashed it to PDA the phone wouldnt boot at all - from memory I am sure it came up saying it couldnt boot and enetered "Odin mode"... I will have to back up my important stuff and try again tonight.
Any recommendations on a good ROM to play with? Need a stable product ideally as I dont get much time to play
Thanks
I would just restore the entire phone with the stock firmware file and start fresh. TWRP here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494245 As far as roms, I haven't played with the international Note 3 in awhile, but I typically recommend stock based roms for less potential issues (I personally prefer CM based roms, but I have more time and experience with dealing with possible problems than most). I would take a look at AllianceRom if you want to customize a lot on stock based http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2571255 or Omega http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470441
As always, you should read through some of the stuff other active users are saying about it to make sure it fits your needs, but those development teams support a lot of Samsung devices and usually provide solid updates.

Thanks es0tericcha0s - I downloaded the TWRP tar and flashed to PDA - all worked first time... I will give it a go and see how I get on, when I get more time I will do a clean flash too!
Good deal. Lemme know if you need anything else.
