I find the contrast too be particularly poor in my GSII now; I use navigation/dynamic mode; I guess last rom and kernel update didn't change colors.. I use 4.2.2 PAC rom. So that just be me suddenly realizing... Anything I can change to make it better?
I don't really know if it changes contrast, but you can try an app called "lux", as far as i can remember it had a lot of settings for display
No this is a night brightness app.. Thanks though.

the Galaxy S 1 made some huge monuments in development, i hope we can soon see these same achievements achieved on the S2. im trying to make a check list of things from the S1 that need to be done on the S2.. so ill start, please add what you think as well
* ext4 file system (from what ive heard, this is already existent in the S2, so thats a check)
*hacked camera app: ability to use the camera at 2%, and use while playing music
*audio boost: cranking up that music past what comes on board, either AudioBoost2 app, or voodoo sound app
*built in call recorder: record phonecalls right from the dialer
thats what i care about, what about anyone else?
a kernel with BLN support, CWM, rooted and with the lowest brightness level lowered a bit.

theres an app for that!
its called shades or blinds or something.. i think it comes up in the market if you search brightness.. i had it on my galaxy s before i sold it to buy the s2
I've heard Samsung has included some screen adjustment settings, but I would still love the amazing stuff developed with Voodoo kernals. Ie:
- Screen colour temperature adjustment
- Screen and text sharpness improvements
- Sound control and amp
- Ext4 filesystem support
Voodoo Color
Voodoo Sound
CWM
BLN
Press power to take photo

Its called Screen Filter, its great, I use it daily on my SGSI for reading my RSS feeds in bed (when I dismiss my Tasker alarm it opens NewsRoom and turns on Screen Filter - BAM! Morning paper delivery...).
Should also work for the SGSII I would think.
I'd most like to see BLN support, call recording, and Voodoo Sound.
Voodoo Sound. But Supercurio did tweet earlier that - the Sound hardware of SGS2 is INFERIOR to that of Original SGS.
BLN , call recording. That all i need to buy it
All the rest is a plus ofc , but thats the most important for my daily use.
i'm prolly going to add BLN whenever i get the phone
hopefully some people will have proper CWM/root by then else i'll have to add that too
For the sound and screen color i'm sure sir curio will look at it but this is probably a bigger task as it require studying the current solution etc and there's no guarantee of success

Will it be possible to use BLN with the stock kernel at all? Coming from an N900, I really appreciate the notification LED. Since I'm new to Android, I'd prefer not to start hacking/replacing the kernel to get bln support.
Has anyone received their SGS2 yet and tried this?

IIRC that is defined in the framework source code (at least on most source compiled ROMs I've seen), so should be possible to tweak via APKtool...
I love my View but am disappointed with the richness of the color. What we really need is an app that just allows is to turn down the gamma and thus up the color richness.
Any ideas on what is available?
I'm not talking about just changing the brightness or contrast. I'm talking about turning up the blacks.
Thats involved with the kernel I believe...so unless you wanna make a new kernel i don't see it happening.
Hi.. I just flashed my GS2 with Super Nexus rom..So far it has impressed me to the core..everything is working properly. Kudos to the developers.
I just have one slight problem with this rom..the colors of all the photos, wallpapers have very very high contrast..it is difficult to look at them..Is there any way to reduce the brightness, contrast of the phone..I tried the default 'adjust brightness', though it reduced the phone brightness, the brightness and contrast of the photos and wallpapers is still very very high..Is there a way to adjust it?
Thanks in advance

I don't know about super nexus but on Samsung based rooms and even usually on AOSP/ AOKP roms there is a setting to change the screen mode. Try changing it to movie which I think is the "dullest"

Hi!
Is there any way to calibrate Samsung GS2's AMOLED display colours to look like LCD display? I think LCD generates more natural tones than AMOLED. Is there any calibration app or tool to achieve such colours on AMOLED?
I noticed the difference when I transferred phone screenshots to my laptop (which has LCD) and also when I compared the notification shade tones (cyanogenmod 11/AOSP) with nexus 4/5 which have LCDs. S2s AMOLED screen shows browner and warmer shade for QS tiles whereas nexus LCD shows grey colour tiles. This is just one example; many other elements like keyboard, pop ups have this kind of difference.
I am sure there must be some way to calibrate AMOLED screen to look like LCD colours. Has anyone tried this before?
Sammy roms and some aosp/cm roms has this "movie mode" which makes colors alot more natural.
On sammy roms it's under display settings and in aosp/cm etc roms, which has device's "advanced options",it's under screen tab.
As for complete r/g/b,gamma,saturation etc calibration solution as some other phones has in kernels or so,there is no such developed for S2 as far as I know.
And you posted in wrong section, ask mods to move it to Q/A

Thanks to @crachel for moving this thread to the right section.
I forgot to mention that I have tried playing with Advanced display options in settings menu of AOSP ROMS yet those options couldn't do the trick.
There is an option to do this. It's not a calibration, but a way to view your pictures with a correction profile on your smartphone.
I have one of these Spyder4 to calibrate the computer monitor for color reliable work. For this Spyder4 there is an app called SpyderGallery for Android. It's free. Once calibrated, you can view the photos of your gallery color-calibrated through this app...
Hey guys , I was wondering if it would be possible to bring the option "scren better" from H2OS for OOS.
I love the OPX AMOLED screen , but sometimes shows too saturated images , especially with reddish colors. Don´t you think?

The "LiveDisplay" in Settings -> Display & lights is the same thing, its only available on CM based ROMs though.

it's not exactly the same. the setting on H2OS is much more subtle. almost not noticeable. while LiveDisplay really changes the color temperature.
I miss that setting on my H2OS and that's why I flashed blue_spark kernel to change the colors.
