Hi!
Is there any way to calibrate Samsung GS2's AMOLED display colours to look like LCD display? I think LCD generates more natural tones than AMOLED. Is there any calibration app or tool to achieve such colours on AMOLED?
I noticed the difference when I transferred phone screenshots to my laptop (which has LCD) and also when I compared the notification shade tones (cyanogenmod 11/AOSP) with nexus 4/5 which have LCDs. S2s AMOLED screen shows browner and warmer shade for QS tiles whereas nexus LCD shows grey colour tiles. This is just one example; many other elements like keyboard, pop ups have this kind of difference.
I am sure there must be some way to calibrate AMOLED screen to look like LCD colours. Has anyone tried this before?
Sammy roms and some aosp/cm roms has this "movie mode" which makes colors alot more natural.
On sammy roms it's under display settings and in aosp/cm etc roms, which has device's "advanced options",it's under screen tab.
As for complete r/g/b,gamma,saturation etc calibration solution as some other phones has in kernels or so,there is no such developed for S2 as far as I know.
And you posted in wrong section, ask mods to move it to Q/A

Thanks to @crachel for moving this thread to the right section.
I forgot to mention that I have tried playing with Advanced display options in settings menu of AOSP ROMS yet those options couldn't do the trick.
There is an option to do this. It's not a calibration, but a way to view your pictures with a correction profile on your smartphone.
I have one of these Spyder4 to calibrate the computer monitor for color reliable work. For this Spyder4 there is an app called SpyderGallery for Android. It's free. Once calibrated, you can view the photos of your gallery color-calibrated through this app...

Hello All,
I have looked around different forums hoping to find an app or setting info which allows to modify the screen color, contrast and Gamma . I haven't been able to find any .
I have a Vega Tegra2 replica which has high screen brightness ( faded black colors ) and I am running Vegacomb 8.1 on it.
Can any one please tell me if such an app or modification exists?
Many thanks !!
Anyone has any info?
Sorry, don't know anything that can do it. But it's a nice idea.
It would be very helpful for those that have cheaper tablets/phones and want to improve the screen quality and picture.
Im wondering how come no apps is around? Any limitation on Android OS to handle this or harware limiation?

I found it, can actually change colors RGB, saturation, contrast, brightness, invert, make screen black and white with root access
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.omegacentauri.red
Somsehow work but paid with 4 day trial.
But I actually try to find a type of app that just reduce selected color from screen
Hey guys , I was wondering if it would be possible to bring the option "scren better" from H2OS for OOS.
I love the OPX AMOLED screen , but sometimes shows too saturated images , especially with reddish colors. Don´t you think?

The "LiveDisplay" in Settings -> Display & lights is the same thing, its only available on CM based ROMs though.

it's not exactly the same. the setting on H2OS is much more subtle. almost not noticeable. while LiveDisplay really changes the color temperature.
I miss that setting on my H2OS and that's why I flashed blue_spark kernel to change the colors.
I am including a video link from my google photos Video
Here you can see the display corners and the notch is expanding and shrinking very little after applying a theme or by doing anything related to display overlay such as night mode from developer option! Are you facing the same? If so then it is a bug and we can get a bit bigger screen real-estate!

Yeah I've also noticed it when changing the dpi.
Maybe they've done it for cosmetic purposes. So that the curves are nicer maybe?

Seems like they are after curves but not screen real estate! even the notch will look smaller, Sad
I just switched to the F1 recently and with it being my first phone that has a notched display, there has been some ups and downs with it. I like that with it I was getting a tiny bit of more screen real estate compared to having a full top chin, but at times (especially with landscape apps) I really wished it had been disabled and leave me with a normal screen instead
"Just disable it with Display Cutout - None" you say, sure that works but that's the whole point of what Im asking for - a custom ROM or anything that allow me to preconfigured what app to use which display cutout option. I'm definitely not using MIUI, and I know that there's an option in MIUI specifically for this purpose, but the same thing only available in custom ROM as options for Expanded Display, which isn't even available on all custom ROMs. There's LineageOS that I know of with this feature available, while currently Im using AOSiP and it's not
So anyone with familiarity or experience of using multiple custom ROMs, can I have any recommendation? This is purely on a feature standpoint and I care really little about performance or batterylife of those ROMs
What I really miss is a Display Calibration App/Mod that works on all devices running on customs roms.
An app that lets you set contrast, light, color, gamma, white balance...
There are way to many phones/tablets that have terrible Delta values.
Anyone here know if there is someone on Xda that working on an mod/app like this?
