[REQ] Black Out Theme - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Will someone please take over the black it all out theming? I really enjoy prstereros work and would like to see some updates.

Yes it would be nice to see someone pick this up. I love this mod. Sucks prstereos discontinued this but it is wat it is

Please? I really want everything on my phone blacked out. If not black, then dark. I am so sick of white. Black is just too sick.

If you want a blacked out rom that is great flash Eclipse!

I was actually considering that, but I am a TW freak. Anything AOSP can fizzle away.. TW was one of the main turn to's when deciding if I wanted iPhone 5 or S4. Thanks anyways though. I really hope SBreen pulls through with his new RLS update coming soon

I'm a tw fan myself but aosp can be fun until breen releases rls8. I was messing around with eclipse ROM on a friends s4. I liked the darkness style I must say
Sent from my Beastly powered S4 using Tapatalk 4

I agree I like the darkness, but being on a ME7 Rom makes the choices even harder. The best I have been able to do if find some Phone and Contacts, no MMS. I keep hoping that Gadget! will release something.

That's one of my main reasons I haven't moved to a me7 ROM. I hate the white backgrounds in contacts,MMS,and phone. Plus I'm a hyperdrive man. That ROM is to epic to switch until breen updates his ROM to me7.

There are only two people that have worked on dark themes, gadget and prstereros. They both have stopped development. Is there anything else out there for TW? Maybe a different modding website I can go to?

I installed the blacked out apps from Hyperdrive hub on RSL7. He may have stopped development on the blacked out Sammy apps, But they all work. At least for me. Contacts. Dialer. Email. Splanner. Calc. Then I went to get nitroglycerin33 inverted gapps and installed those. I'm right as rain. Got my dark look fix.
Also messaging.

I am MDK. This is what im on...
This is where you can come to get your stock S4 apps blacked out! The white background for MMS, contacts, calculator, etc are so bright, and annoying! Not to mention the fact that the S4 has a Super AMOLED display, which consumes a ton of power while using apps with white backgrounds. This is why i have done what i have. If you text a lot, this can help save some battery life, as black pixels take 0 power to display. This will now flash everything in one go (MMS, Contacts, Phone, and Calculator).
This should work on any deodex build (no word on the ME7 deodex yet). The main version is Verizon/Sprint and there's a separate T-Mobile version. I haven't had any reports about AT&T

A: To keep this clean, i won't make separate flashes for each zip. Open it on your computer and delete what ones you don't want.

I have a TW build and a GE build. It just has several AOSP components in my TW build.

Instead of roms or mods, is there somewhere on the internet that will teach me android coding for the s4? I would rather play around with files myself to change colors. I just have no clue where to start.

Throwing it out there but my new thread will be going up shortly. Planning including custom themed and blacked system apps, mods, various flashables, etc. Everything's aosp though at this point. Right now have close to 400 lock rings, glowdots, search lights, full lock screen widget mods, halo mods, and just about anything u can think of in regards to framework and systemui mods (hdpi, xhdpi as well as xxhdpi of course)
Also including my flashable full blackout, holo, and custom themed mods. Banners, boots, and graphics will also be included as requests come in.
Whole aspect of what Im wanting to do is having the thread head to toe custom stuff. My work is far from ordinary or topical. No batch editing and not one request, mod, or themed app is the same & absolutely love it making heads turn. Lol
Soon as I have everything caught up and organized I will get the thread Rollin. I will keep my eye open at that point to see if anyone has taken over/continuing your work.

I know how to theme systemui, I've done it and used my own themes on beans, cleanrom, and eclipse, but I can't figure out lidroid-res.apk.
I decompiled it, edited the icons, recompiled, put it on the phone, and systemui crashed, so I would love something that covers that.
When I get the urge I'll look at framework-res.
I even themed my Gmail, but it wouldn't send/receive, I'm assuming that was a signature problem.

After you directed me towards that guide a few weeks back, I still haven't had a chance to try it. Been too busy with moving/wedding/work to find time. Lack of development?

I'm just curious as to why Verizon note 2 is lacking so much in the ROM development side of things compared to other carriers. Is it solely because we are still only 4.1.1? Just thought it would be interesting to see peoples input!

Only a quarter of a year ago....And even in the thread you linked there were whiny people complaining that someone else at some point had asked the question. Lighten up.
Didn't mean to step on any toes or anything. There just hasn't been hardly any development on here lately so I thought I would get something going. Trust me if I had the time, and the abilities like these developers do, I would throw my hat in the ring. But at my current level of (lowly) expertise I should probably leave that up to the people that know what they're doing

Yet Scott just released a zip that will allow us to flash t mobile, and att roms. Give me a moment, and I will find the thread, and post it here. If you want to see a dead phone, go look at the rezound. The phone is barely a year and a half old, and it is marching into obscurity. The droid incredible has more action. These threads aren't going to produce more roms, just bad attitudes. Try playing with all of the mods we have, and theme it to whatever you want it to be. Morphology, Xposed, and a slew of others. Troll the other carriers threads, and pull mods that you want. That is all we can ask for, unless you are paying the devs a paycheck.

Which have you tried? Both Jedi and Jelly Beans are both great. I am using the mod in my sig right now as I like that it keeps the samsung allshare features working.
With a combination of Jelly Beans, Widget Locker, and a theme you could pretty much get anything done you want. Pick up the odd app or mod here and there to fill in the gaps.
By the way, if you want to give 4.1.2 a go Jedi is running that. It is great if you don't need the Samsung services.

I think this has been my main take away from discussions, and browsing the other forums. Quantity in this case definitely does not equal quality. I don't see the point in having 10 options if only 2 or 3 are viable. However, that is just my opinion.
Most source built ROMs (AOSP) are going to have issues, whether major or minor, and are much easier to customize as you're dealing with XML and java. However, the lack of TW features keep people away from them.
With TouchWiz ROMs, you don't lose any functionality, but there is only so much that smali hacking can do. Most of this is just the time consuming nature of trying to hack a ROM via smali only. You could get everything in your favorite source built ROM if you wanted to take the time to do so. But, given that this is a for-fun thing and not a money making venture, developers aren't likely to take that amount of time if they wouldn't use it themselves.

I would definitely prefer a few quality roms with great support than 27 versions of cyanogenmod that are 98% the same. Beans, MeanBean, Tweaked, Jedi, Elemental...that should be plenty to keep the crack flashers happy.

What is a rom really? To me It's just a better version of what the manufacturer builds. The stuff is basically the same for the most part with the addition of tweaks for better battery performance etc... That are added by the dev. The thing that makes a rom different are the things like themes and different looking batteries etc..., so why have 100 roms that essentially are the same? I would prefer to have 1 rom that performs well with a bunch of themes and mods hence i only use meanbean and love the real icon theme, or morphology. Mean bean is a great rom and with pbj kernel even better.

To each their own ya know. My reason personally for rooting and unlocking is personalization, which is why I tend to end up at aosp more often than not. There's plenty of options and stuff to mix around. The only reason why I made a topic about it was because of the extensive development on other carriers. Not because I'm not pleased with what's here, I just have a hard time staying on one ROM for long

stock android firmware has evolved into something so much better than it use to be...im still on beans build 2 because it flatout works and has all the things I need. Its hard to develop when stock touchwiz is so good out of the box. the only real thing that touchwiz needs is themeing. beans takes the cake on that. aosp was nice on my gs1 because it trimmed the fat and made the ol single core with limited ram run smooth. these quad core beasts are designed to handle bloat and a festure rich skins(touchwiz), so aosp does not have the appeal and performance advantage it use to. however for the folks that
keep this device well past tthe point verizon quits supporting it, then aosp will shine...simply for the fact it will bring the latest android offerings and keep the note 2 alive.
I think it had A LOT to do with TW and Spen/Note 2 specific features. Nobody really wants to lose them, and there's only so many ways to mess with TW. There's plenty of AOSP/KP stuff but look at the involvement compared to TW roms... It's there, but not as much... My take on it anyway.
Edit: Yeah, what Droidstyle said, lol.

Don't forget that Samsung has promised an update to 4.2 for the Note II sometime this year. No real timetable, but when it comes it will be a shot in the arm for development.
Myself, I bounce between Beans ROM and CyanogenMod. The S-Pen features are what generally keep me hopping, but both are good.

Tibu file(s) transfer

Good morning all youz. I am receiving my Gnote2 (verizon) today from swappa. OK, it is rooted and unlocked. It has Keen put back to stock but still rooted and unlocked. Couple of different things. I thought about taken Tibu files I have on my gnex save them on laptop and then transfer it to gnote. Is that 'correct thinking'?
Also, since it is on stock and I have been reading in all the forums about NOT taking the OTA. I am a crackflasher so I get that the roms have the ota in them. So what is the best rom 'in someones opinion's (winkwink)out there. I definitely need wifi wireless hotspot (not detected) so I can use my tablet anywhere.
Thanks.

From what I understand you can take the folders from Tibu and move them to a new phone, but I dont know if everything will work. Its always best to just download all the apps, from the Play Store or whatever other app stores you use, in my opinion. Some apps may not work and may cause issues on your rom, ultimately its your choice though. If you have problems you could go back to a nandroid and then download the apps from the app market.
As for good roms.... Well that depends on if you want to stay on TW, for the S-pen and various other features, or if you want AOSP.
If you want TW I would suggest CleanRom ACE or Beans, CR is always updated to the latest update with a crapload of features packed in and has an Aroma installer so you can choose exactly what apps and mods you want. Beans is a AOSP themed TW rom with a crapload of stuff packed in too and has a bunch of mods that you can flash after the rom. I prefer Scotts CleanRom ACE but it is really up to you as to whether you would have the AOSP theme or go with the way stock TW looks.
As for AOSP I would suggest Vanilla Rootbox or ParanoidAndroid. Those are my 2 favorites and the list of new stuff on them is huge so I am not going to type that out. The downside with AOSP is you lose the special S-pen features and the special apps like S-note. You can add the majority of S-pen features back to AOSP with an app name GMD Spen Control from the Play store, its a little pricey but is most definitely worth it because it even adds new S-pen features to TW.

How many people really have note 3's?

I have noticed something lately, it seems like not that many people are on the note 3 forums for sprint. Is it because it's sprint, the price of the phone or because people just don't want to mess with the phone? What do you guys think?
The themes/apps section the most views are on my thread (spen sound pack) and it has been downloaded over 2000 times from kevinrocksman.com and goo.im put together
Personally I know quite a few people who are just still locked down for one more year in contract..also I see a ton of people with the S4 who love the N3 but didn't want to wait.

Well, I use mostly stock, rooted rom because, well, unlike some previous devices, it's quite "good enough" that other than removing a bit of crap, I'm happy with the rest of it.
I didn't use your sound pack, as cool as it seems because I turn off spen sounds.
And honestly, I've not had many issues to speak of, so since I don't have much to say, I don't post much.
It really is the best device I've ever had in stock form.
I spend most of my time on the general Note 3 forums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3
I just pop my head in here occasionally to look for Sprint specific updates.
I've thought the same thing before. The phone is a niche style phone on the third largest carrier. I'm glad the community we do have is like family and constantly helping each other out.
Maybe after the holidays and tax season everyone will be making the switch. The phone is awesome and all.

I waited til price drop. Bestbuy has them $149 if you add a line so yeaterday i went down grabbed a note 3 and swapped it to my current line. Called sprint canceled the new line and will sell my lg g2 to pay the etf

and these mods can be found over in the generic Note 3 forums as well:
[APP] [v2] PEN Window Manager - Easily Enable Apps for PEN Window
[APP] MultiWindow PLUS - Enable HIDDEN Multiwindow Features - MUST HAVE excellent mod
[APP] MULTIWINDOW Apps Manager - Easily Add More Apps to the Multiwindow Tray
Quite a lot seems to be cross-compatible, but even many of the things that aren't, the devs over there have made an effort to support as many of us as possible. So definitely show some support to those guys as well as the great devs that we have in this forum.
I think in another 40 days or so when i have an upgrade ill get it a sams club or somewhere its a bit cheaper the lack of hotspot hack on this g2 has me itching

I don't like the samsung ui overlay and LOVE stock 4.4 KitKat. I've been using a Moto X for a couple of days and I'm loving it!! If only the note 3 was a 1 device for all carriers like the nexus 5 so the same ROM would work for all carriers. I'm seriously thinking if selling my note 3 to buy a nexus 5 but the camera, screen and lack of sdcard slot really turn me down..
Please pardon my ignorance but Why isnt there a cm/aosp ROM for the note 3? Is it because Samsung has not provided the kernel source?

I only come here when I had a phone that needed to be modded. I dont dabble much so I appreciate all that people do here..
I have a note 3 and just plane love it.. unroooted and all... no issues.. just plane cool!!! still getting used to it... but eventually I will root it..
people say they want to remove the bloatware... I went in and clicked disable on the stuff I didnt want and I know it is still there.. but with the amount of ram I have in it.. I dont care..
so we have what.. 32gb of space.. and i added a 64gb micro sd class 10.. added it right in the store.. got someone to change their mind from an iphone cuz they didnt want to pay more $$$ for 64gb unit... hah...
anyway.. I got so much space free I havent seen a need to remove any apps...
also this is my first "Note" and I will ALWAYS own a note now...
i went from
Sprint Titan with custom rom> Galaxy S2 > Note 3 - so I dont have much experience on the android platform but I love this thing!!!!
I have flashed every android phone I had in the past, mainly because they needed it in order to function and perform properly. The note 3 is a beast out of box, therefore unless there's a super stable and awesome rom that catches my attention, I won't flash. I think more people went with the S4 imo as well.

Best Verizon Note 3 ROM out there....

☢ [ROM][4.4.2][NC2/NC4] *** Got bigginsROM? V5 ***[6/26/14] ☢ I have to say is the best ROM for a Rooted Verizon Note 3. I have tried all ROMs that are stable and form Battery Life to the Visuals, hands down BIGGINS know what he is doing. Keep up the great work and hope to see what's coming in the future. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2733275 . In know way at all was I told or even contacted to post this. I just wanted to help anyone out there that was wondering what ROM to choose. Enjoy it as much as I do.
I agree Biggins rom being a top contender along with Baja's rom. Rite now i'm running Biggins V5 and patently waiting for Baja's and sbreen94 next build. I used Hyperdrive has a daily driver on my S3 and for a long while on my N3. All great developers. Much respect
I totally agree that Baja and Hyperdrive are great ROMs and developers. Many thanks to all their hard work. I had Hyperdrive as my daily driver for a while. As of now, I am loving Biggins V5. Im one of those who loves to change things up, so I am always changing my ROMs. Can't wait to see more to come from all these GREAT guys!!!

Eclipse is hands down my favorite.
Everyone is allowed there own opinion right.
But no one can do true AOSP code on a locked bootloader like @nitroglycerine33.

I havent tried out the newest release of Eclipes. I was never a big nova launcher fan, thats what kept me away, but now with the new google now launcher I might give it a go. Im just thankful for all the hard work these guys do to make our machines BEASTS.

Edit - fixed
I have tried out baja rom, hyper drive, eclipse rom.. My fave rom is eclipse by far, best battery life and aosp styling is nice. The other roms are good and i'm looking forward to trying out rom updates on the new safestrap slots.
not generally a fan of these threads since i appreciate all the devs and the different stuff they create but since the rom isnt mentioned here and has been the most updated rom i have ever used on a locked bootloader device then i have to make sure that @hsbadr with his Jasmine rom gets listed.
he is also about to launch a FULL S5 port with the Note 3 specific features injected.
thanks to all the devs listed and not
I originally opened this thread to see what users had to say about a ROM. I put my opinion and read many others. Since the first thread was posted I have tried other ROMs that were mentioned here. Purpose was a success. THANKS Again to all the hard working developers that make these forums worthy and make our phones outstanding!!! As I have said before in other posts, keep up the GREAT work and can't wait to see what's on the horizon
