roms on razr??? Quick question - Motorola Droid RAZR

so i have an xt912. What roms can i run on my razr maxx? I am confused because there is only one section on here but there seems be about 1000 different razr models. How do i know which ones will actually work for my phone? I already got really confused trying to root it and ended up trying to use a utility that was for a different model. I am damn lucky i didn't brick it. This is the most confusing phones iv ever had to work with. can someone enlighten me??? it took me 3 hours to finally root the damn thing. Seriously what is up? I've never had this much confusion and frustration when it comes to a phone.

from my best guess,, just the regular droid razr, only difference between the maxx and non is the battery size.
hope this helps.

all the rom for xt 910-912 are the same exept the difference from cdma and gsm
It's mean that if you are located in the USA for exemple you have to flash the CDMA version of the rom
I suggest this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028020

[Q] Rooting "A shot in the dark"

Have been reading any and all Rooting Posts and I have come to the conclusion that as of now, Most, if not all of the Rooting techniques are a shot in the dark.
If there is one good way that is reliable and doesn't screw up one thing or another than I have not seen it.
Example......Superoneclick....works on one phone but not the next....Roms....need more fixes to get to work than Microsoft.....
Tell me is there a proven way to unlock the bootloader, Root the phone and get Gingerbread to work fully ?
I may be new to this site and believe me I would love to have a open phone....But I have other things to do than F around trying to get a already KickAss phone to work.....Just saying....

you need to do more reading, no one uses superoneclick for the atrix... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1165791
Read the stickies..
Have you ever opened the android dev section?
Almost everything is in the sticky thread of clown.. With faqs guides etc..
Unlock your bootloader depending what atrix you have(att or international), then install the tenfars port of CWM4, and then you can root using the CWM root method..

To build on your Microsoft comment...............Some software is not compatible with all versions of Windows. The Atrix came out with Windows 95, has made it to XP, and with GB will be Windows 7. If you are not happy with the devs work, what they have done for everyone, and can't filter through the threads to get what you want, maybe you should get an iPhone and stick Cydia on it!......Or get a Windows phone because you won't have to "fix" anything on it!
If you want help, then you have started out the wrong way. Your post needs to be objective, and not flaming all the work others have done because you can't implement any of it, and are confused.
Root, ROM's, etc., do not need a bunch of fixes............you just have to READ so you know which ones work together for what you want. If you had actually taken the time, you would know that the bootloader has been unlocked, root is working, and GB is awesome. You just have to check the instructions for what you want on your Atrix, whether it be AT&T, Orange, Bell, etc.
Personally, I am on an AT&T Atrix 4G with unlocked bootloader, rooted, with GB 4.5.91, and have absolutely no complaints ot problems!
Since you don't want to F around, watch that door................it's heavy and swings closed fast.........wouldn't want it to hit you between the buttocks on the way out!
Bell ATRIX, unlocked bootloader, rooted, running 2.3.4. No problems

Where did everyone go? Electrify/photon is still alive

this section on xda for electrify/ photon is just about dead now. this Pisces used to be very active but now seems like everyone left. .... where did you guys go? just in the last few weeks this place went from a very active community to barely there.. .... massage someone should just start an electrify section and just post what ever works for electrify from photon there..... sure sprint gave the photon an eol but it is still an awesome phone! and us cellular still had their rebadged version for sale now.... so as i said. .. where did you all go? i miss you all.

Even knowing this, won't let me go away from Motorola.
After a month using Galaxy Nexus, I decided that Photon is better for me.
I'm still here, not for long, but I'm still here. Others check in here and there, but its getting far and few! as stated, 2.3.5, locked, bootloader!
Not to mention, HTC EVO 4G LTE, SGIII, AT&T Note........And why should I wait "Years" to get LTE (if years) when I can have it now?
nice to know I'm not the only one still here i love my electrify and I'm surprised more aren't working on locked bootloader. if i had any know how i would dedicate all my free time to attempting unlock. i have played with other phones and i love my electrify. only thing that would replace it at the moment would be a droid razr esque phone or a droid4 esque phone our the rumored photon q. .... if only my electrify could have ics..... dang bootloader

I'm glad I'm not the only one still here. i love my electrify. if only it had ics. ive played with other phones and love my electrify. only thing that would replace it would be a droid razr esque phone, a droid 4 esque phone(i do miss my qwerty keyboard), our the rumoured photon q, if any of those come to u.s. cellular. if i had any know how, i would dedicate all my time to attempting to unlock bootloader.

Yeah it feels like recently we're waiting for a new breakthrough or kernel source to appear, I think that would give the forums a kick in the butt.
But there has been some excitement over GSM finally being unlocked for use in the U.S. on the Photon, which is pretty awesome!

Me, too. Love my MoPho. I'm rooted, locked, and surviving quite nicely. The MoPho has allowed me to keep my rootaholic addiction under control. Hanging out here is like being in a bar and just drinking club soda. You can still be with your friends; just don't get the same buzz.
I've been here for a while, I'm not used to comment on threads so often, but I'm always reading new threads and the developers section stuff.
Well, I've had this phone for a couple of months, and I'm satisfied with it. My phone came rooted, I fixed the multitouch thing, changed the bootanimation and I can't wait to unlock it and try the Kitchen Sink rom
Im gonna be here pretty frequently as well

a new OTA update is coming soon. i imagine forms will be active when that happens.
people will be returning to stock to get it and then rooting again.

Link provided above. Btw xda search sucks. The best way to find anything on xda is to search it in Google. For example, for your 8 point mod I searched, "8 point mod, photon, xda" and it was the first link. Anytime I need to find something on xda I always search Google for it and it has always been within the first couple links

seems a bit more action head been going on today. just a bit more but still more. i love this small community here. and thank you tsdeaton for your link and tip.... even though our is almost common serve to use google i just figured allot of xda stuff would not be on google and xda's search would be be good for their open site .... but shears thanks. trucks to all who contribute and help each other here.

I have had this tested on a developer model photon a little while ago. It has some connection issues and does not fix 4g. Not really useful for the most part as far as I can tell.
kinda sounds like the test version i read at a thread somewhere... sucks to hear but thanks.

getting sn s3 in a few weeks...a couple ?'s

i have been using the droid x2 for about two years. it has a locked bootloader, and very limited abilities as far as flashing roms goes. kernels will be a new thing to me. i have noticed that in most rom install instructions, there are no specifications on what version to be on. lol not something i am used to.
could someone point me in the right direction for some reading material on the subject? this phone specifically? i understand a fair amount about being rooted and performing various things within recovery and android in general. i just want to make sure that before i go messing around with my s3, i know exactly what im doing. thanks in advance.
also, i have read a decent amount already, and it seems like this phone is fairly easy to brick,? also not something i am used to. the droid x2 with its locked bootloader was next to impossible to brick.
cant wait to join the ranks.! thanks again.
read as many threads in General as you can

Good choice, mate!
Which S3 is it? I see you're in the USofA. There are several variants of S3 in the world. American/Canadian S3's are the Snapdragon variant, not the International variety, which is what this forum is for. If it is not the GT-I9300, anything you flash from here will definitely brick your phone.

thank you sir. ! i guess i would be getting the non international version. :highfive:
international version has many developers than the other variants. once you start flashing custom roms or kernels or mods, there is no guarantee that your phone will not brick. flashing without damage to the phone depends on how you do that. goodluck.

Yeah Make sure you're in the right forum for your phone. Follow that chart for your carrier.
Also if you happen to be getting T-Mobile,there is a new variant that has the LTE radio T999L which is a hardware difference and not a simple software upgrade. So if you did happen to get T-Mobile, hopefully you have the LTE variant.
