[Q] GT-I9205 Modem - Samsung Galaxy Mega

Has anyone had any luck flashing the modem only?
I have flashed the whole ROM and then using CWM updated the system and data directories but it seems long winded.
I can't get ODIN to recognise the NON-HLOS.bin file and I am not game enough to use CWM on it!

They have the same issue on the s4
Currently no way to flash the modems yet apparently

Is there a way to do it using ODIN, or do you need to flash the whole ROM, then re-flash the recovery and then update using CWM?

The files persist.img.ext4 and tz.mbn from the Rom are for what? The modem not need this?
EDIT: No, not need for this. Confirmed.

I tested it and work.
Extracted from Stock Rom XXUAMG4 the modem NON-HLOS.bin, created a .tar.md5 whit TOOL tar.md5.Packager.
Flashed by ODIN v3.07, .tar.md5 in PHONE and alright (not PDA). No issues on flashing and the 4G work.
Here the .md5 : https://cloudpt.pt/link/4002563d-3752-4342-bee0-81b7f7440423/XXUAMG4_modem_LTE.tar.md5 (i9205)
EDIT1: Tried second time to have the Thumbnail
EDIT2: /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/modem /firmware vfat
EDIT3: 13.08.2013 : The Modem is XXUAMG3 from Rom's MG4 and MG6.
EDIT4: 15.08.2013 : New Modem XXUAMG5 from Rom XXUAMG7 See it HERE.

On updater-script form META-INF You call /firmware to modem partition?
The Odin call that Firmware like on this:

This method works on my side. Tar only apears to pass but does not actually flash. Must be tar. Md5 to flash correctly.
It feels good to learn something new every day.

/Modem, /Radio, /Firmware
I compared this on some phones type:
Note N7000 -> /modem -> mmcblk0p8 -> Mount Points : None -> Partition type : Unknown
Note2 N7100 -> /Radio -> mmcblk0p10 -> Mount Points : None -> Partition type : SD/MMC card -> Device type : MMC
Note 10.1 N8000 -> /Radio -> mmcblk0p7 -> Mount Points : None -> Partition type : SD/MMC card -> Device type : MMC
Mega 6.3" I9205 -> /Firmware -> mmcblk0p1 -> Mount Points : /Firmware -> File System : vfat -> Partition type : SD/MMC card -> Device type : MMC.
On Mega the Modem is installed on a vfat File System /Firmware like the /storage/extSdCard, also vfat.
Is here the difficult from CWM to flash on a vfat file?
I'm not Dev but would like understand this also.

Modem is very confused now. New Odin v3.09
See HERE what said arco68 DEV about, and use this new Odin to flash Stock Rom whit good modem on S4 Mini.

[Q] G1XXKPQ stock recovery rom with Odin

Hello there !
It's my first post, sorry to disturb you (by the way, the video for the noobs is great ! ). I'm French, so please excuse me if my language isn't fluent. I used the search function, I don't think there's already a relevant thread.
I've got a problem with my YP-G1. I tried to flash terrasilent, it worked, then I tried to flash CM10, it didn't : my device started the install, rebooted 3 times as expected, then rebooted in the new recovery mode, but it crashed, rebooted and did it again, indefinitely. (if you have a solution for that too, please tell me).
Now I'm trying to get it back to the stock rom. It worked a first time by flashing the stock G1XXKPQ INTL with heimdall. But then I tried to flash pacman, and it did just the same thing. Plus, I think I messed with the drivers, and now heimdall doesn't work anymore (I can't get zadig install the good drivers). But Odin seems to be working perfectly. Can somebody tell me how to convert this heimdall package (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850) to Odin ?
Thank you for the answers,
Antonin
Your problem concerning your installation may lies in the fact that you don't have a good efs maybe. Also have you tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them? Maybe it will help you reinstalling the heimdall after.

knostut not
Thank you for the answer.
I'm trying uninstall and reinstall drivers. I'll let you know.
EDIT :I must be a complete noob ! well, it worked. I already tried this, but this time, zadig managed to setup the driver. Hurrah ! I'm now running the stock rom.
Any idea on what's the problem with CM10 and pacman ? I just checked, my EFS folder is not empty, at least. But the files are maybe corrupted, or something like that ?
I'll try to describe you what happened during the install of CM10/Pacman, but it's quite difficult to do so in English. Well, as I said, the first steps (kernel preflash and beginning of the full setup) were good, but right after the 3 reboots, when the new recovery interface started, it shut down (showing a picture of the android lying down, and an error message, which disappeared too quickly for me to read) and rebooted.

EDIT : another noob question : does flashing custom Roms work on a non-rooted device ? Or maybe flashing a custom kernel (Terrasilent) automatically roots the device ?

My device isn't rooted. Has it something to do with that ?
Moreover, I just had a problem when flashing terrasilent, so I just did a restart from scratch using the recovery with heimdall (YPG1IntlRestoreHeimdall). Is it supposed to fix my efs anyway ?
EDIT : Root permission given to ES explorer. I was able to copy-paste the file. But a lot of files from the "dummy" efs seems to be missing to my efs folder. Is it normal ?
EDIT 2 : Now that the drivers for heimdall are working, Odin doesn't work anymore... Can I flash TerraSilent with heimdall ? Or maybe I can skip this step ?

userdata.img is /data not /sdcard.
Yes /sdcard is technically /data/media but this is omitted from userdata.img

Thanks for ur information, I just wondering if there are any ways to transfer 3.7GB data to over 1000+ i9300 pba only, adb doesn't work as those pba w/o LCD
now i can just flash, then transfer files using MTP and click several times skip/don't convert, it is really annoying...
Windows and Linux will both have options to "do this action for all". In other words, you should only have to press "skip" or "over write" once.
You could zip the data, move the single file then unzip it but this will take longer.
Alternatively you could make a cwm flashable zip that unpacks to where you want - again, a lot of effort.
Dragging off and dragging back via MTP is quickest

skip one time, don't convert one time, 8 devices at once = 16 times...

[Q] GS3 I9300 Bricked? (/eMMC)

Hi there i recently upgraded to CM10.2 experimental and all worked fine. After playing around a bit i decided to go back to my CM10.1 rom and that went off without a hitch but my phone sat in the boot for over an hour so i decided to go into recovery and wipe my data when i was faced with (unable to mount /sdcard. Partition file (.PIT) for our S5

Does anyone have the Partition Info file (.PIT) that can be used in Odin to repartition our phones if needed?
It will be very good if someone can provide one
But that I have seen posted anywhere yet.

Just FYI of anyone searching for a TMB S5 PIT file, it can be found in the thread that philow cited. Note that this is for a standard, 16 GB phone. If you have a 32 GB phone that means two things: I am envious and you will need a different PIT.

Yes.. Delete the .md5 from the firmware file..now extract it using winrar...now delete the hidden.img now use this toolkit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3101195
To make your own firmware and flash it with Odin..
Chik0 please give Feedback if you Can Flash without FAIL.
I tried already with deleting the hidden.img . I deleted the hidden.img with PowerArchiver from the .tar file. It didn't work.
€dit: It worked.
What I did:
1.) Downloaded an unbranded Firmware from sammobile.
2.) Installed PowerArchiver and opened the .tar file with it (removed .md5 before) and deleted the hidden.img
3.) Used this toolkit to flash with odin: http://www.skipsoft.net/?wpdmpro=unified-android-toolkit-v1-4-0
3.1.) Just follow the instructions from the toolkit.
4.) Done

What do you mean with "to be s-off"? The "different partition layout to flash" is the pit file the OP is looking for
Yes there are differences. I found an article about the new S6 devices and there were screen shots with less data used by the system. There was more data "free" than the whole actual size of my /data partition.
So I inspected my partition layout and found that the biggest partitions of my device are /data (~20 GB) /system (~4 GB) and /hidden (~4 GB).
So I'm looking for a different pit file to minimize /hidden and maximize /data

What do you mean with "to be s-off"? The "different partition layout to flash" is the pit file the OP is looking for

ah sorry for misunderstanding..if I say in the past...I mean HTC times..I forget to say that sometimes..and on HTC phones you must have security off..while the phones come with and boatloader looked..boatloader can be official unlocked for root and such things but to flash different and selfmade partitions you must have S-off..
anyway so you needs an pit.. I saw the best way is if you are rooted and you needs it for the 32GB model..so I can't help..mine is 128GB..
that's the thing I don't know..is there any possibility to change the sizes of the partitions from the extracted pit from the phone...
and if there is such a thing
(if you don't) root it..so you can extract the pit from the phone...

I have same problem in my S6 edge (Model G925F), I used CF-Auto-Root-zerolte-zeroltexx-smg925f.tar.md5 to root my device then my device hang with error
Recovery Is not Seandroid Enforcing
I download TWRP recovery and wipe everything and make return to factory settings but no luck same error appear
I download XSG-G925FXXU1AOD4-20150409145130.zip stock ROM but it gave me error NAND write error
I did what mentioned in this thread to delete hidden.img and use SkipSoft ToolKit to generate the ROM without hidden.img
now it pass NAND write error but give me failed after cm.img.
