[Q] Should I change baseband ?? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I've got bad reception. At home sometimes no bars, no reception, or sometimes 1-2 bars. If I get to a window I get 2 bars tops.
Outside it sometimes disconnects and I have to reboot.
Drives me nuts.
I have another older smartphone at home that's 3g - same carrier - full reception.
In Neo V Battery life is bad. At "about phone" I see it changing all the time, I didn't have the chance to check outside, but due the constant disconnections outside I figure it's also changing.
Is changing the baseband the way to go?
The original BB was 4.1.B.0.587 baseband (77)
Now it appears as 8x55a-aaabqoazm-203028g-77 (under "about phone")
I'm running CM10 nightlies
If I put the wrong baseband can it brick the phone?
Should I flash 4.1.B.0.587 baseband (77) on cm10 (JB)?
Any better baseband than 77 (I'm Israeli on a 850/2100 network)?
Lots of question, you don't have to answer all, any help would be greatly appreciated.

As u say it appears on 77 in about phone, its already on 77 baseband of .587 firmware.. I don't know whether you have got the update of .13 firmware in your place but as far as i know, there isn't any ftf file available for .13 firmware.. The new firmware comes with a new baseband too.. So till then 77 is latest.. just give it a check though.. I told you whatever i knew..

@veepe:
Try different SIM Cards if they give you full reception, it maybe the problem with your SIM Card.
If this doesn't work,
Try reinstalling everything from the scratch. First, Flash ICS .ftf using Flashtool & start your phone.
Check if you have proper network.
If there is proper network, then flash kernel from CM10 zip, Install ROM via Recovery, Then check your network.
Now if the problem occurs, it means the problem is with the CM10 ROM. Then you'll have to wait until it's fixed & stay on stock ROM or try other ROMs...
For more refer this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590383

well, i tried everything - all basebands, flashed different stock firmwares with original kernels for both mt11i and mt11a (mine) - no improvement.
It's definitely something in the phone, the sim works great in another phone. Tried 3 diff sims in the problematic phone.
I'm thinking it maybe related to a water damage I had a few months ago. I went to a lab right after that for a preventive treatment, maybe something's wrong with the hardware.

If changing softwares isn't working, there is a high chance that this is a hardware problem. You should get it repaired then...
Good Luck!

[Q] 2.1.1.A.0.6 Rogers rom on ATT?

Has anyone put the new Rogers rom on a locked ATT unit?
Any market problems?
Any problems removing Rogers apps?
I THINK want to go to one of the custom roms but I'm only on Baseband 2.0.46
and I don't have Dual Touch installed. But it seems that I'm required to update to the higher bb at least, and though I see a BB update only thread, it's unclear if all basebands are compatible with all SE 2.1 update-1. And then I would still have to update to dual touch prior to installing a custom rom.
Since these are two independent flash requirements, and it seems that I have to update to some rom higher than 504 anyway, so I was wondering if I could just go to the Rogers one.... getting dual touch and a higher baseband right off the bat in an official package in one shot, and check it out prior to deciding to move on.
Different basebands work with different firmwares and kernels. You can mix and match, to some degree (for instance, .55 baseband works with .435 or 2.1.1.A.0.6 FW), but there's really no reason to.
I own an AT&T X10a, and I always use the X10i Global Generic firmwares. All the features without all the crap.
Check out the link in my signature for an optimized version of the .435 firmware (dualtouch, etc). Follow the instructions, there's a file for flashing the new kernel and baseband on there.
Good luck!

But even your firmware says I have to flashtool a higher baseband to get it work prior. (Shouldn't you update your screen shots, you show bb 2.0.46 when you really mean 2.0.54) Though what you've put together is very interesting. Do you still have all the SE apps, too, in the collection of applications? (Just asking, I know they have apk's available.)
I'm just trying to avoid flashing multiple times now*, do a straight 2.1.1.A.0.6 update and flash only once and get higher baseband, dual touch and whatever other tweaks there are which don't require flashing. There's no LAM/NAM generic of this version yet?
*flashtool for me a PITA, because I don't have VISTA/Win7 computers generally available and it works better on that than XP which is problematic due to the SE usb drivers which sometimes freeze it in flash mode. I am getting a decent tax refund, I suppose it's time to upgrade to sandybridge and Win7 (since the first SP is out) before they announce Win8.

Please Help Me!!!

Okay so I unlocked my galaxy note just by using a non accepted sim. And I figured it was good since it said unlock was successful. However I didnt test it. I then flashed ICS clc5 leak and a tmobile baseband. No Go... baseband unknown. So I wiped and reinstalled ICS. I ended up with a baseband but also an evil little circle at the top with a line through it. I though well hmmm... I gave up and odined pure stock with a baseband but still no signal. The signal came in and dropped after seconds when I turned it on. I added a new APN still nothing.
I just want to get this working with att or not and I am beat.
I have no signal here is my system complete stock.
ANDROID 2.3.6
base band 1717UCLA1
kernel 2.6.35.11
build number GINGERBREAD.UCLA1
Edit: So much for questions and answers....

[Q] Problem with the baseband

Hello to everyone! I received as present an LG Optimus Sol (E730). I changed some roms and now I've got the stock SOL LX by poogie with Kernel with sweep2wake,BLN,GPU OC etc by xpaum. Since I put the first rom I always had problems with GPS signal. I tryed all the possible ways to fix it (APGS patch, modified gps.conf file in different ways, ecc...) but it's still not working good. I mean, using "gps test" after 10 min it can get 3 satellites but if I use google maps it is always on searching for gps signal. I come from Italy and the original firmware was the v10b brand vodafone. Now I have the v10b no brand. Are they the same? Because I guess the problem is related with the baseband and I don't want to come back to a vodafone brand version but I want my gps back!! What can I do? Any suggestion? Thank you in advance...cheers!

[Q] No mobile network or invalid SIM with with 7/8 ROMS. Why?

I've been using the pac-man ROM for over a year now, but it's a very old version, buggy and outdated. I wanted to try Kit Kat or basically just find a stable ROM, but pretty much ALL of the ROMS i've tried end up unable to find any mobile network or display the SIM card as invalid. Even when I search for networks or try to add a network manually, it still doesn't stick. Occassionally it'll even find the my local network when I go in settings and do a network search, my network being that of China Unicom, but it always results in failure to subscribe, please try again later. This has happened on a good 7 out of 8 ROMS i've flashed. The ONLY ROM i've ever been able to find a network on and thus make it usable has been the old 2013 pac-man 3.99 build. I've searched the forum and google for answers, such as flashing a particular modem or whatnot, but haven't found any solutions.
Does anyone have any ideas? It'd be greatly appreciated. I really need an updated ROM! :fingers-crossed:
If it matters:
Network: China Unicom
I've tried: 4.4.4 CM11, Stone UI hD3, Carbon KK Unofficial 2014-12, CM10.2 nightly, CM 11 M9, KitKat CarbonCN, PC Honami KK RC3, and Xperia Z Z1-1.4.
Only working ROM so far: pa_togari-3.99-RC2-20131104
To use the more modern ROMs you will have to be on a 4.4.4 FTF or you will get baseband issues ie SIM cant connect to network etc

It's been over a year since I unlocked and flashed my phone, and I haven't done any flashing since, so I kind of forget some of the procedures and technical aspects.
I'm going over the FAQ now, and one thing it says is "Never Flash a FTF to a ZU GPe." What is a GPe, and how can we make sure we are not using it?
It also mentioned I should use Sony PC Companion to update to the newest firmware. This means it will update to 4.4.4 FTF right, or do I need to find this and flash it manually? Likewise, after I'm on 4.4.4, I assume my phone will be reverted back to stock. Would I have to root it and unlock the bootloader again?
I remember when doing all this for my phone the first time, since my phone was a Chinese model, 6833 I believe, I went through hell and back for several weeks until it flashed and took the current ROM properly. Something about buggy firmware in that paritcular model, although it's been so long I forgot all the details. I'm worried that I'll run into a similar situation with 4.4.4... Thanks for any help, truly appreciated.

I tried to update to KK via Sony Pc Companion, but it says my phone is up to date. I assume it says that because it's not seeing any official firmware, due to the flashed ROM. Even when choosing the option to "repair my phone" which says it will re-install the latest available firmware, it states that there is no software available for my device. If memory serves me correct, I must first flash back to my oldest stock firmware that came with my phone, then I can use PC companion to update to KK, and then maybe unlock bootloader and root again, and then I'll be able to flash new ROMs and have a working mobile network, does that sound right?
Out of curiosity, since it's 4.4.4 ROMs that don't seem to work (network wise), doesn't that mean 4.3 ROMs should find a network just fine?

I cant remember where/when the baseband changed, it has been updated several times. I would just go straight to 4.4.4 and not worry about PC Companion - Just use the latest flashtool (http://flashtool.net).
Grab a 4.4.4 (aka x.x.x.108 or .118) FTF from the FTF thread in the dev section and flash that. That will wipe all user data (so back it up) and install a new /system image. You will have to root the device again abut 4.4.4 is easy to root now with the easyroot tool. Then you should be on the latest baseband and all the new ROMs should work - 4.4.4 and 5.0.x
Thanks blueether, I'll give that a go and report back (hope you don't mind). Here's hoping (since i know the 6833 chinese model is finicky)...

You mentioned I should get a *.108 or 118 in order to get the ROMs working again (mobile network wise).
I found in the FTF repository: STOCK ROM] [FTF] Xperia Z Ultra 6833 14.4.A.0.118 "VodaFone UK" and also "SRF FR".
I'm using a 6833 in China, however. My guess is these wouldn't work because they require different networks.
Doesn't matter? Or perhaps, I just flash any 118, and that will give me the newest firmware. Then I can flash other ROMs (that use the same firmware), which will have updated modems, and consequently get my network signal back. Is this how it works? Want to be 100% sure before I go flashing with firmware that would make my phone unusable. Thanks for any advice!

[HELP] 925I updated to 7.0... no network connectivity

Hello!
I just updated my 925I (Mexico-Telcel) from MM to N and found out that after that I get no carrier connectivity, wifi works fine. Update was done through smart switch and noticed that imei doesn't match with the one on the back of the phone.
I've always tinkered with my phones and the one time I didn't, it bit me in the ass.
Anyway,
Baseband version is G925IDVU3FQF3
Build Number is NRD90M.G925IDVU3FQF7
I've been reading and reading but so far, I don't know if I can flash an unbloated version (925F) or not or if I can flash only the MM modem in hopes for the problem to be solved.
Any advice will be appreciated.
