I've had this for a while now, ever since my arc gave up on me. Whenever I flash anything that is not GB (CM10, MIUI v4 etc....) the ROM lags like hell, with the transitions not even going faster than about 10fps. It's really irritating to keep having to choose GB roms instead of having the freedom to choose whatever rom i like. I do wipe everything before flashing, I've tried flashing stock gb ftf too with no results. It's unlike the performance in the all the demo videos...
Anyone has any idea/reason why this is happening?

Hi guys, first of all i would really like to know which custom rom is the best for my xperia x10, i would like it to be fast, but still stable, the animations should all be fluent (best thing would be a fast and very fluent 2.3.x) and "everything" should work properly, so not too many bugs and errors^^
Also, do i need an unlocked bootloader or anything to flash a custom rom?
I've got flashtool and pc companion installed.
My phone is a xperia x10 (as you may have guessed), its sim-unlocked and i've just recently updated it to 2.3.3 (with pc companion, so a stock and original sony erricson 2.3.3) and everything works fine, except that its slow and pretty much all animations are laggy, thats why i want to flash a fast and stable custom rom.
Thanks in advance guys, i hope you can help me
First of all you have to root Your phone. After that You have to Install xRecovery and You'll be ready to flash new ROM. Fastest ROMs are the stock based ROMs
Sent from X10
Use this tool forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415600
I would suggest
1) wolf v7b6-simple and fast
2) ferlab- many 2.3.4 apps and great rom
3) shelly-it just like stock 2.3.4 but very fast
I actually really just want all the animations like changing the desktop page or timescape and the foto/video widget to run smooth, so which one is best in these matters?
Still thanks for the recommendations and how to install custom roms!
OK, i now rooted my phone and installed xrecovery, then i flashed (or installed) the full fps uncap and now its wayyy better
switching between homescreens and all the other animations are now very smooth, for the moment i'm happy with this, but i'll probably flash a custom rom sometime in the future...
I've got a friend's Vibrant who's visiting from out of town. It's still running froyo, and running horribly slow. I wanted to flash an ICS rom for him to get his phone running smooth again, and to give his phone a fresh new look. But after reading a lot of the threads, I'm getting the impression all ICS roms are still quite buggy. I myself have a SGS 4G, and don't have nowhere near the dev support that the Vibrant has. So seeing so many roms, especially ICS roms is overwhelming when trying to pick one. For those that have used GB and ICS roms, would you say that a GB rom would be far more stable and a better choice to flash? You see once I flash the rom, he won't have anyone to flash another rom should he have issues.
Depend's on wich ICS is right now in my own Testing Euphoria is the most stable FOR ME, GB I think is more stable but If you like more ICS themes and all that then you should try ICS.About the Rom Problem, Maybe you can show him How to,Causeit's not too complicated.

clear all market data in app manager, ics is like vista (when xp is like gb), it will be slower but nicer looking i installed xray kernel and created swap on zram disk and now it is much more smooth, almost like gb. but games still lags its ics...
rooting phone will not speed it up, if you want install custom rom, it will probably be much faster (but i prefer clean stock roms with bloatware removed and with uv kernel).
Ok, basically a long story cut short. My Xperia Neo is a bit of a mess. I upgraded to ICS but the phone lagged lots and just runs far too slow. I tried downgrading to Gingerbread but I have some weird version with chinese symbols etc. I'm one of these idiot newbs who thought they knew what they were doing but clearly don't.
I tried searching but got confused by all the different roms and kernals available. I was just wondering if someone could let me know what is the best Rom and Kernal for my phone is keep it running sweet.
Thanks lots in advance.

It depends on ur usage All roms on development thread r good
each rom has unique features and styles So depends on ur use
If you don't want any trouble, use any stock based rom.
Im currently checking these out..
JellySandwich http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880321
IceCream Pureness http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737862
both seem good but cant decide which one i want
I'm on JellySandwich with Nightelf Kernel and it's just awesome.
Jellysandwich , Ice Cream Sandwich Pureness
I had both , and both of them on Night Elf Kernel.
I found ICSP very laggy (until I Flashed the JB Adreno Drivers) which made it smoother but is a pretty neat ROM overall (only thing is that I Don't Like those square icons) ,
JS is VERY smooth, with all those JB Adreno and Tegra 3 Scripts , It's really good , BUT the Aroma Installer is a bit confusing , so I've Installed and Reinstalled the ROM quite a very large number of times which made it quite buggering just like rite now, I'm using it (the last update 6.2.5) aaaand I don't have Gtalk , which I selected on the Aroma Installer, but I DONT have it , and I have XDA apk, which I Didn't selected!, and just a few things like that...
Which I Don't like about them both is that I Can't use the Music Info Download in either of them. which is pretty lame.
another Good option is the X-Gamer ROM which I liked a lot, the only thing it lacks is the ICS UI but it's a pretty good ROM.
Overall good gaming performance, and VERY stable.
battery Life was good too. but as I said is a GB ROM so ICS UI is just NOT there...
and about those Chinese things its just because You flashed and CN tft (it's like the official ROM but...for China)
you have to flash the Global .tft (search for it on google , like ... "Official Gingerbread Global Xperia Neo .tft " or something like that )
should arytgma
I'm right now on Ice Cream Pureness 13 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1738055 and The Alliance kernel 1.5 by Night-Elf http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566871 and it seems pretty good to me :good:
Try by yourseft
All of custom rom in this forum is very good.
recommended: use GB for NEO/NEOV if you want stable, fast, good battery. Try T0x1c V8 or codename 9.1 rom.
Hi guys, I have some experience on xperia mini because it is my gf's phone and sometimes she leaves it to me so that I just flash something.
I remember when it was on gb: really smooth and fast, gameplay was awesome too, in stock rom and in modded rom.
Now it is on ics and it seems to be more laggy, battery sucker and with less stability. It is on stock rom with crossbreeder and lupus kernel, I've found this as the best ics combination for better stability but I remember gb was one other thing.
I haven't tried jb yet but, onestly, I'm not so convinced.
My questions are: which android version have you preferred? And why? Have you experienced my same sensations?

Im also having a Xperia Miniā¢ and received per-installed ICS..Stock OS is ok to me but limited features.Main problem is battery life.So I moved to a custom rom and then I start the flashing war .
I tried lot of custom rom's with varies kernels. I found some good custom rom's which can play HD games smoothly and with more features. So I think custom Rom's are good but still there are some bugs because those rom developers not from SE software team...
Btw,I think ICS is better than GB..Support applications,more features..etc
OP really the only way of knowing is to test/flash for yourself, better yet read thru the forums Development section. If you are allowed to test on the device...
There are to many variables involved in asking others what they prefer....usage/apps so on. Thanks
