I was accessing Google Play Store and an update was needed. It waited all night and it was still waiting. Trying to "fix" things, I accidently deleted the Google Play Store icon. I can go to Setting>Applications Manager and the app is still running, but I can't get the icon back on my Nova home screen. I am using Nova Launcher if that makes a difference on my s4. When I return to the Touchwiz home page, the the Google Play Store icon is there. I just can't move it over to the Nova Launcher home page.
Can someone please help this Android idiot?
Thanks in advance.

I just rooted my NT 8gb 1.4.2 and I can download apps from Google Play with no problems, but they do not show up any where. How do I add them to the library or simply the home page. One last question, would certain apps still not show up in the google play store? I could not find the free angry birds? Thanks
You say you just rooted? I'm guessing that means you are on a stock ROM. It has been a while since I played with a Stock Nook. First try using the search app to search the device for you installed apps. Also try downloading a 3rd party launcher with, Play Store, like Apex, Nova or GO. The apps will show up in the 3rd party launchers app drawer. With a 3rd party launcher installed hitting the home button, will prompt you to choose a default launcher. Choose your newly downloaded 3rd party launcher as default, now you should have easy access to your apps.
I think I used an app named Button Savior to have software buttons: Home, Menu, Back . This allowed me to use the Hardware Home button (n button) to return to B&N launcher.
Hope this Helps you.
What root process did you use? Those I have tried did have an alternative launcher included in the rooting process. You probably had ADW launcher installed with your root. I'm guessing that's where you launched your PlayStore from. Look for the app drawer icon. It's a square divided in 4 parts. Tap and you get to all your apps.
I think in both Brian's and Albert Wertz's rooting posts they have an app package you can sideload. Certain apps that Play Store won't show your Tabket are in there. For example Angry Brids.
Thanks for the help. Right after I posted I found some information about launchers and such. You where right on the money. Thanks for the help.

And can I just install the GoogleHome.apk from that link or do I also need the PrebuiltGmsCore.apk and Velvet.apk?
I'm finally sick of the Samsung default launcher, and absolutely love the Google Experience launcher on my Nexus 7 and don't want to buy or pay for any of the other 3rd party launchers that people sometimes talk about.
So am I good just installing GoogleHome.apk or should I wait until Verizon finally releases 4.4 on the phone so I can download the google experience launcher the correct way from the play store?
Well, I tried it, Just installed the GoogleHome.apk and I have the launcher and everything seems to be working.
Go for it. I put it on a few weeks ago. It rocks. I have had no issues at all. Matter of fact, I put the Xposed GEL Settings and Unicon apps on there as well and love it even more now that I can change the grid size and icons.
I wanted to install and use the Google Now Launcher in my Moto E... But the fact is, After I set it all up, I have noticed 2 things:
a) It takes up a huge amount of RAM
b) The transition from the app drawer to the Home Screen is really, really choppy (laggy)
My question is : Is this a problem with my device or some problem related to the launcher itself?
(I have also used the Nova, Aviate and Apex Launchers before... But they have all been smooth like the stock Launcher)

Click to collapse
Install Link2SD app and move some apps to the SDCARD to free up space, then install the google launcher now, I did it and ran well, to make this you need rooted.
Google Search version 4.0 doesn't have this issue, as the transition from home screen to app drawer and vice versa is smooth. But the only catch is that, as Google Search version 4.0 is only released with Lollipop, installing it in 4.4 unrooted ROMs would make your OK Google search hotword not working anymore. So have to disable OK Google hotword or it keeps crashing. If you don't mind that, then its a prefect launcher.

ya those transitions are really laggy..but those will be fixed in lollipop.!
BUT WHERE IS THAT UPDATE MANNN..!!AM FRUSTRATED NOW
I am downloading Google Search v4... along with the L Launcher...
But the catch is, my phone is not rooted...
So I'll try and disable "Ok Google" and find out.
Thanks everyone
I am using google now launcher w/o OK google and average 450 mb free ram.No lags.
Iv'e used nova launcher for a while and I love it.
there is only one feature I feel missing, the google app in the left page (like in google now launcher).
I was able to have the same thing using the home button to open google now in gestures and inputs.
Is there any way to maybe change swipe right to google now like you can do with swipe up?
Thanks in advance,

So, I was looking for a decent budget phone to act as a backup for my PXL 2XL. Was eying the red 6 GB, 128 GB for long and just got it yesterday.
Installed a P Launcher, and till now all looks good.
However, for the life of me, I am not able to turn on the google feed? I did go into the google app, and set "Yes" to the Show Feed option. But, nothing happens on the home screen.
What am I missing?
Which launcher are you using?
Try searching for rootless pixel launcher on XDA or ruthless launcher (non pixel)
You can use Lawnchair along with Lawnfeed from the Play Store. No root needed
