My Sony Tablet S was working fine up until a few days ago. It was on ICS Firmware R5A and rooted using the recent exploit. The only real issue I had with it was that the keyboard app I was using (SwiftKey for Tablet) was not running particularly smoothly with my chrome browser. Anyways, a couple of days ago I noticed that the tablet had suddenly begun to lag quite badly so I figured I would do a factory reste and see if that helped. On the contrary, it has made things MUCH worse.
First up, I could not start the tablet beyond the lock screen. It transpired that the Launcher apk has gone missing so I loaded Nova and managed to get on the Play Store to download the Sony Home Launcher but now every time I select the Sony Home Launcher it closes on me so I am stuck with Nova. Next thing I have noticed is that the stock browser is missing. Also the Play store keeps closing on me also.
The tablet remains on 4.0.3.r5a and remains rooted after the reset. But I would really like to get the Home Launcher working again and also the stock browser back.
If it were my phone, I would flash another version of the firmware or install the relevant apks but I am not sure whether I can do this on the Tablet S and also where to find the files to install. I am currently installing the latest Tablet S flasher for r5a so that if I need to flash something I can.
Other than that, Any other help on getting my tablet working for me again would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I've purchased one of these tablets - i've tried searching for info on how to root, etc and possibly put another rom on so i can access all my apps that previously installed through marketplace but unlike normal rooting of an android phone the procedure for tablets seems to be all over the place
or would it be easier to just put my mobile sim into an android phone - redownload all the apps and then back them up and restore them on a tablet
thanks
Slatedroid.com have section on their forum for the Hannspree, with details on rooting, google market and a custom rom to get rid of Tap n Tap UI.
My 2 cents:
Follow the rooting and gapps guide on slatedroid at
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/20232-guide-hannspad-rooting/
Install market and take it from there. You can also side-load apps from another phone, but that doesnt work quite as well for some (albeit few) apps.
I changed the launcher from the TnT (yuk) to VTL Launcher and it has made a WORLD of difference.
Also, look in the other G Tablet forums for stuff coming over from the Notion Ink camp (Adam).
For the price the Hannspads are going for, they're a steal....

thanks for the replies, but i'm looking at returning (unless someone can say if rooting, etc will resolve laggyness, etc) this product due to the number of issues i've experienced with it in less than 48 hours
I've had to reset it 20 times because of it freezing and being unresponsive - even at power on it was hanging at one time for 15 mins on the tap'n'tap logo - had to reset the go into recovery to sort it out - it also kept freezing when finally got to the lockscreen so couldn't actually unlock the device - in the basic menus it kept freezing and the same when running apps - overall very disappointed especially as my lg optimus 2x performed better.

Hi all, first of all, I understand this is my first post and I'm already asking for help and I understand I may have posted this in the incorrect thread, however, today I purchased a the Arnova 10.1 for my fiancée, I had a look at the arctools I see people talking about on forums here and there but it just doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong, am I looking at the wrong forums or searching the wrong things for my tablet.
Basically I'm just hoping someone else has got the same tablet and knows what they're doing, if this is you, I just want to know if I can successfully get the market running and some secondary launcher (ADW, Launcher Pro etc) running without any hickups, also, is root possible? Can CM7 be successfully be installed on the 10.1 and any other cool stuff wouldn't go a miss...
Arctools works, atleast worked for me.
I am like a noob on this tablet. Got it like 2 days back. Turned on wifi, went into arctools, selected the version stock with root, then clicked download, and then it went about installing it. I remember having to leave it at some junk screen while it rebooted twice before showing me home screen on third boot up.
Then I realized one thing: the google apps that weren't installed were installed at this time, with the reason being now the tablet is rooted.
So maybe cos your tablet isn't rooted yet, that app is kinda useless. Some options didn't work for me either, but I am happy it installed a custom rooted rom and installed the base market app and other apps.
I am currently using GoLauncher.
Installed Tibu, and deleted/froze the apps I don't want like stock launcher, etc.
Hey guys, I'm really looking for some help...my RAZR MAXX was one of the "lucky" ones that got updated to Jelly Bean on Christmas Eve...and I've been playing around with it, but have stayed completely stock - just as I was before the unexpected update. I decided to try out Nova Launcher (as I've used in the past) so that I could have the persistent Google Bar at the top.
Well, I decided to hook up to my Webtop and noticed that I wasn't too pleased with the way Nova looked...so I uninstalled it. Upon doing so, somehow, it ALSO deleted the phone's default homescreen and now I'm left with a black screen instead of my actual homescreen. NO IDEA WHY!!
I already tried re-installing Nova (by going to the Google Play Store on my PC and installing it via the web) and when I did, I immediately went into settings to cleared my defaults...and even doing that, my phone still only thinks that Nova is my sole launcher. The phone's default launcher is completely gone...even though it shows up under Settings>Manage Apps.
Can anyone please give me a suggestion about what to do? I really don't have time to sit in the Verizon store tomorrow waiting for them to figure it out and then give me a replacement. Please let me know what I can do, if anything. Have you ever heard of such a thing happening? I never had this kind of issue with ICS or GB on the RAZR.
Yea I never heard of that happening, weird.. try reinstalling here. http://d-h.st/H4T

I am not even sure what happened. I was using Splashtop THD Gaming and it lags over the internet. The website says to lower your tablet resolution. So I installed LCD Resolution Root and lowered the resolution. I did that and it permanently ****ed up my user interface. Even after I uninstalled LCD RR my UI was showing some apps big and small etc. I had another launcher installed so I was gonna use it in the meantime. I thought I could fix the problem with my UI by clearing my Amazon Launcher in the app section. I have done that before on 13.3.2.4 and it fixed itself. Well I am on 13.3.1.0 right now. So I cleared the Amazon Launcher and it didn't do anything but now everytime I launcher the Amazon Launcher it kept asking for my language so I would give it then as soon as that closed it would ask it again in a loop. So I tried uninstalling the Amazon Launcher and reinstalling it but it would not uninstall. So I just hit factory reset. The Kindle restarted properly and it lead me to the lock screen. I unlocked it and it gave me a blank screen. When I tried powering it off it showed me the buttons on the bottom: home button, back arrow etc. but it showed nothing else. So I rebooted it and now it just has the Kindle Fire logo and nothing is happening.
I do not know what's going on. I have cleared the Launcher before on 13.3.2.4. I guess the old version I have now is unstable. Is there anything I can do? I can still open safestrap. And this is on my stock OS which is not modified in any way other than root.
Thanks and I am still reading other threads.
Good News I just help with a small detail.
I was able to backup and restore my current mishappen OS to a second ROM slot and although only the lock screen appeared I was able to access my kindle drive on my computer so I downloaded and installed Amazon OS for 13.3.1.0 on a rom slot and it works. So my kindle is useable but what can I do to fix my stock os? The launcher is broke on the stock OS.
FIXED
Well I fixed it. I ended up just restoring and fixing it.
Sorry for wasting space. Still not sure what the issue was.
Good to hear you fixed it

Goodluck.
While searching the web today on my SM-T860 it suddenly crashed and when it tried to reboot it only got as far as the Samsung logo. The power button alone did not do anything. The tablet restarted by pressing all three buttons together. This has never happened with any other Android device for 'no reason'. Has anyone else experienced this?
Same happened to my last night. I was trying to download a jpeg file that wouldn't open and it crashed after setting it using another way to download it. It was stuck in reboot loop without response from the buttons.
I've not experienced any issues. I'm still running Pie OneUi (v1.5) and the SK1 build.
Might be a good idea to post what firmware you're both running to see if one of the newer versions has introduced a bug - Right now, you're not going to gather any useful information except that it's not just your device that has crashed.
My new one did that right out of the box and had to be returned. It would never get past the Samsung logo, could not be turned off with the power button, and would not go into recovery mode. The exchanged unit worked just fine.
Maybe it's the latest update or some kind of bug though and it only works when using the chrome then downloading at this site a wallpaper. You'll be getting a broken jpeg file and after opening it that's where the problem started.

This happened to me 3 times now, almost sent the tablet back to Samsung. It usually happens with I set up a new Wallpaper using a 3rd party launcher (home replacement). Stayed away from messing with 3rd party launchers and it's been working great for me. Scary.
me too still running Android 9 with OneUI 1.5. No crash ever happened yet.
I'm rooted with Android 9, UI 1.5. I had an almost plain red background on my tab (attached?). I had two crashes in abouut 1 week and have had maybe a total of 6.
I have now gone back to the stock launcher and Samsung default wallpaper just today. I wonder if that will make a difference like someone suggested here?

I'm using Nova and no issues.

Bloody hell, it crashed again using stock launcher, not sure if hardware or software issue...
Well, it crashed again and now I have updated to Android 10 with Odin. I did not flash TWRP or root the Tab, bootloader still unlocked and using Nova, lets see what happens......
