anyone else running a 4.3 nightly seeing improved battery? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Previously I had been running Rootbox and could get my phone to last about 24 hours with my normal use, but only about 3 to 5 hours of screen on time depending on the use. I started using the PA 4.3 nightlies a few days ago and seem to be getting much better battery life and I was wondering if anyone else trying 4.3 was seeing an increase as well.
This has been about average for my battery life for three days now without any major differences in use, other than using it longer with the longer screen on time. I will say that I tend to keep my brightness all the way down unless I am outside as even the lowest brightness is plenty bright for me (sometimes being lowered further by using screen filter at night) so this isn't representative of most people's use, but still an interesting improvement.

overall yes
I have been only using 4.3 on CM but from reading posts and personal experience, 4.3 does have a better battery life. I'm usually sitting at a desk all day so I don't use my phone too much but when I'm home I do occasionally watch videos and play games. I prefer the auto adjusting screen just cuz I'm too lazy to go adjust the screen according to my environment. I may check out PA 4.3 to compare.

Adjusting the brightness hasn't been too much of a problem for me as I always enabled status bar brightness adjusting but unfortunately this build of PA doesn't have it, so I will probably end up just using the auto brightness since it allows advanced customization for what percent to set brightness at certain light levels.

Havent realy noticed better battery life but much smoother transition animation on 4.3 vs touchwiz or even 4.2.2 love the pac man build based on cm10.2

.215 from. 211... Loving it so far!

Screen shots below. Overall, here is my impression coming from pure stock unrooted .211:
* smoother scrolling, less lag, overall snappier feel.
* significantly less heat coming from my RAZR MAXX when using.
* getting a stronger, more consistent 4g signal... haven't gone into 3g only coverage areas yet, so can't speak to 3g.
* wifi DL/UL speeds appears to be more consistent with less variance in peaks and dips.
* battle life is way up, but that is anecdotal at this point... will post supporting data when I get a few more days use under my belt.
Anyone else have findings to share?

Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
Snappier, better 4g lock, less memory use, and no bugs noticed so far.

Quick update on battery life, this is with what I consider heavy use (WiFi, BT, Corporate push and Gmail, heavy browsing, watched an episode of Breaking Bad on MX Player, etc.):
Batt Level --> 70% with 9h 30m on Battery
Screen On --> 3h 10m (50% brightness)
Significantly better performance for me over .211.
My view from other post very similar to this:

I've run .214 and .215. I've noticed some very slight improvements with these two over .211. I would say connection seems more stable and phone lag been improved a bit. However it seems that these roms don't lock in my gps location near as quick as .211 did.

Edit: 7-16-12, I believe the hand off between 3g/4g and visa versa in .215 is not as seamless as it was with .214. I noticed this using streaming radio.

Is it worth it to replace the S4 with an Ultra?

Hello everyone I hope you all are having a wonderful day.
The Xperia Z Ultra is very cheap in my area right now, $350, and am now wondering if I should replace my Galaxy S4 with this device.
For those of you who have had this device for a while, do you guys think that it would be a worthwhile upgrade?
I also have a Nexus 7, so I sort of understand how this phone would feel in my hands.
Also is the battery life and camera as bad as people say it is?
Thank you for reading and I can't wait to hear your replies.
I would definitely do it. It's not as big as the Nexus 7, but it's still pretty big for a phone. You do get used to the size pretty quickly though. The camera is not directly good, but it's not incredibly bad either. It performs OK in daylight. You can go through the Photos thread and see for yourself. The one posted here was taken a couple of weeks ago by me.
The battery is actually very good. You can check out the Battery thread yourself, but you can expect to get around 5-8 hours of screen time depending on usage.

The camera is ok in really bright locations, if it's anything other than sunny, it's terrible. I just moved from a nexus 5 to this phone, GPe, not sure I'm going to keep using as my main phone.
battery life is great, considering it has such a huge screen
camera is not as great as others. this is a tablet-like phone, not a phone focusing on camera.
if you want a good camera, look elsewhere.
Just learn how to use the camera and it's not too bad in lower light
Battery life isn't bad.. Actually pretty good especially when brand new. Close to two days when new but after many hours of heavy online gaming the battery life has dropped on mine. Still get about a day though.
I recently ordered a Z Ultra online, and now it's on its way!
Can't wait! Thanks for all the reply's! :highfive:

S6 edge - good idea for a first time Android user?

Hi guys,
I'm a long term Android user, but I'm trying to convince my gf to make the switch from Apple to Android.
She currently has an Iphone 4s and is very happy with it except it has ground to a halt as the apple updates have taken up all the storage space.
So she loves the looks of the s6 edge but i've seen really mixed results about the battery life, I don't want her to have a bad experience and then brand android with this issue.
Is the battery really bad?
Many thanks,
Andy
no.....if you root the edge and look for a decent rom (you will find here ) battery life is good, and apps and games ar more cheaper then apple...:good::good::good:
you only pay for the name apple............

Coming from a 4s she probably isn't used to much more than mediocre battery life! And I'm sure she'll appreciate quick charge regardless. Just get package disabler pro and turn off all the crapware. My SOT is 4-5 hours so
I'd say it's has as good a chance as any android device due to TouchWiz features and customisations and the hardware (multi-window, very customisable skin (themes, icon grid, toggles), freedom to drag and drop files, awesome camera and camera software, build/design/feel, quick charge, wireless charge, finger scanner, etc. And Marshmallow coming in the next month or so... the beta is very promising.
Worth a shot....stock android may be too bare for a potential switcher.

Battery life as a normal smartphone

Hi all,
I'm about to purchase this beautiful phone, but as I'm not planning on any heavy mobile gaming ( believe it or not, I just like Asus, ROG, the audio setup and the form factor), I'm very interested in knowing how the battery life is with regular use.
No official review goes too much in depth on this matter.
How is the standby time, SOT, using it as a regular smartphone (mail, social, youtube, camera etc)?
Thanks a lot for your input!
This is the first phone I've ever owned where I get 2 full days. I lose 2 or 3% overnight. Overall, battery life is amazing.
You must have everything turned off. I am not even close to that on stand by ...
I came from a Pixel 2 XL. All my apps are the exact setting and the Pixel 2 XL has a smaller battery and it last longer the entire day then the ROG phone
With this phone I am having to find ways to get better life. pixel 2 XL didn't do any or that. On my pixel 2 XL I even have Always On and music ID turned on
ROG Phone owners will have to wait for custom kernels and maybe even custom ROMs because something is eating the 4000 mah battery of this phone like nothing. Many tests have proven a poor battery life, very poor considering the battery size.
Whatever it is ... It's in the system

Post the picture of the battery usage to zentalk forums too the staff there maybe can give the engineers something to go off of
Battery life is ok, Will last me about a day with normal usage and 8 with heavy ones. I got rid of FB and use metal instead. I use black theme in all The app offering it as well.

Question Do you want iPhone 13 pro Max battery life? There's a setting change to make...

Ok, I just saw this on sakitech but I thought it worth mentioning. Making this change has reduced my power usage to approximately 3-4% per hour with regular use, so far today. Which is amazing for me.
Under settings, battery, go to the bottom, more battery settings, performance profile. Change it to LIGHT.
I feel absolutely no difference on the device in terms of usage. It still feels just as fast. Scream has not dropped in display quality and nor has brightness gone down. But the battery life is just better for me.
Interested to know if anyone else has done this and seen any difference.
I want S23 ultra levels of battery performance, not iPhone. I'm loving the battery life on this thing!

Yes, agreed. It's amazing. This seems to have made it even better.
Just switched over to light, let's see what happens. Though I've routinely been getting 11 of SOT so it wasn't that bad to begin with.

I've tried both modes and I didn't find any diffirence. Both modes are snappy and battery life is about the same. Maybe it's just for me tho. I did a geekbench benchmark and results about the same too
Well my battery is at 70% after nearly 8 hours since I powered up. That's unheard of for me on a Samsung device. I'm usually below 40% by now.
Have given it a go. Cheers for the tip
