i modified system ui to have working navbar
first download modified system ui apk from here http://www.mediafire.com/?mgv6t11i4431n57
after download move system ui.apk to system/app and replace then go to system and open your build prop with text editor and add this line qmenu.hw.maikeys=0 in the end then reboot your device
to disable navbar just delete the line you add
if your device is fc after reboot go to system/app and delete systemui odex

more mods is coming soon

i don't use screen buttons but some people do
I used Pie control then moved to Floating toucher mainly for one handed operation. It's better than having the Nav bar that uses up space.
I just thought I'd mention that you can get the soft keys without modding your systemui.apk
It can be done with a quick edit to the build.prop in root explorer

there is 3 ways to enable navbar
1.enable it with build.prop editing but i am not sure if it will work
2.editing framework-res.apk and change a line this maybe work
3.with system ui if you add this line qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 to build.prop then after reboot your device start to fc then you need to modify system.ui but it has been tested on samsung 4.2 roms only so i don't know if it will work

NOTE: Arc/Neo users, the zip says Xperia play because it was intended, it being my current device! But works fine on both phones just remember you need same phone version!
UPDATE: This is an on-going project! By me!
A lot more is done in a more recent fix i have completed.
I'm also not responsible if you brick your phone, or mess it up in anyway, if you don't know how to replace system apk's and the framwork.apk don't you shouldn't be attempting to install this, i'm not going to tell you how as there is plenty of topics/threads on this.
This is for STOCK rom only.
Version: 4.0.2.A.0.42
What I have done/included:
. Replaced the SE icons with that from ICS,
. Status bar is partially themed to resemble ICS.
. Settings has had some icons replaced.
. Camera looks a bit more ICS style.
. Theres a zip containing the ICS/ Galaxy Nexus ringtones/notifications/alarms/UI sounds.
. Theres a folder with 2 ICS wallpapers and the ICS icons and some icons resembling the folders icon in ICS
.Toast notifications are now ICS style.
.Some notification icons are now ICS style (messages, gmail)
.Tick boxes and scrolle along the right hand side is now ICS style
.ICS overscroll glow.
.Headers are now ICS style
.Contact boarders are now ICS.
.Clock & Date is now ICS coloured.
. NOtifications title and description is now White (readable) some 3rd party apps may still have difficult to read text on the black background, that is down to the app itself not my theme.

The google widget is desktop visualizer with the ICS google search bar icon.
Simi folder widget with the folder widget icon included.
the dock icon for LP is included.

then there's something wrong with you,
i installed and it works well, im using .42 fw
just the camera doesnt change, because the app on the ICS theme named camera.apk , but the arc's named semccamera.apk (if im not mistaken),
so when u copy the camera.apk to system/app , there will be 2 camera.
i like the stock better
the contact doesnt change too much, so do the browser and the messaging app,
but the overall work is awesome
and the icons is super!
but i have 1 issue, when playing music with playerPro,
on the black notif background , the text is also black, i think its the playerPro's problem,
anyway it doesnt bother me much

Make sure u do the right permission.
framework-res.apk >> /system/framework
Bootanimation and audio files (from media folder) >> /system/media
But place it to the right folders.
No the rest of the files that ends with .apk in the ICS theme folderbelongs to /system/app
Example:
systemUI.apk >> /system/app

can Acornium 1.1 rom use this?
Another easy mod for you guys.
This is only for Verizon Stock with root injected
4.1.1
Build: JRO03C.I605VRALJB
Steps:
1) Please mount your system as read/write, extract the files in the attached zip file, and copy:
SystemUI.apk to /system/app
Make sure you are actually replacing the old file and not renaming it
2) Then reboot.
I included the original SystemUI.apk in the zip as a backup just in case.

Wi-Fi toggle, black status bar, stripped version
From sleevasteve - Here is a stripped version of the SystemUI.apk. Includes: Wi-Fi toggle, black status bar. Removed Icons: eGPS, Alarm, Battery, Bluetooth, Silent and Vibrate. I removed the battery icon, but you can enable battery % under display. And removing the Bluetooth, silent and vibrate indicators not only cleaned it up, but now you don't see a gap where the alarm icon was, when going into those modes. Tried to get rid of the ime indicator/switcher, but there must be another one hiding in there somewhere.
http://db.tt/4h4dDk5V
***Be sure to REMOVE the word "Stripped" from the file name, before pushing to system/app! The file name should just read: SystemUI.apk (sorry for the inconvenience, had to differentiate them on my phone, and on dropbox)

Thanks it worked for me as well....not sure if this happened to everyone, but the phone locked up right after i replaced the apk file. A battery pull and reboot and everything is well and good. I would assume this is normal behavior since the actual touchwiz UI was replaced while it was running. Just to warn anyone who might freak out when things go wonky.

I might have been the one you were talking about that was discussing removing the eGPS icon, and I was also able to remove the alarm icon using the same methods. I downloaded hairdewx's zip (with the added Wi-Fi toggle) and removed the alarm and eGPS icon from it for my own personal use, but I'd be happy to post the systemUI with combined mods if anyone wants it(and if I get permission from OP). I just don't want to step on anyone's toes, I'm far from a developer.

You using ADB or root explorer? I replaced the file and the phone locked up, give it a minute and it will respond. I don't like pulling the battery unless absolutely necessary.

HTC One Illusion Rom FAQs
How do I enable HALO?
Go into settings. Under Illusion System Settings, select interface. You will find Halo Options. Here you can turn on halo, and tweak the way Halo works.
Where is my Data toggle in the notification pane quick settings panel?
As of right now, the only way to toggle data is through the Data Usage menu in settings. A fix is being worked on for this. I believe the problem exists in quite a few ROMS for the One.
Why isn't my NFC working?
Don't worry, all you need to do is flash the file at the bottom of this post title NFC Fix. This fix was pointed out by @Pony Express.
How do I enable/Disable CRT animations?
CRT off animation can be toggled under Illusion System Settings>Display
How do I access Google Now?
On the HTC One, the HTC logo is NOT a button. However, in the Illusion ROM (and some other ones), the strip above the logo has been modded to work as a button. Long pressing that stip will give you instant access to Now
Are there any other Bugs I should be aware of?
Not sure if it is mac only, or whether this will occur on PC as well, but if you connect as MTP, mac does not recognize it. ADB and PTP work fine. It is only MTP where this issue occurs. At this point, I feel the issue is with Macs being unable to recognize the MTP protocol. I was able to work it on a PC.

Great rom. I just flashed an hour or 2 ago and I have had no problems. Is it possible to get rid of the background on the halo bubble? Also, it seems like whenever you uninstall an app, a pop-up comes up and says "settings has stopped." the app still uninstalls but just a FYI. Nothing major.

This Rom use Xperiacles mod to Change from Tablet, Phablet, or Phone UI w/Floating Multiwindow with just a click of a app and a reboot.
The ROM is based off the latest ota VRAMC3....so no gps or INTL ROM troubles
Its optimized for tablet at 160dpi with 200dpi optimized TWlauncher with Landscape...but you can change to whatever dpi or UI mode you want, thanks to Xperiacles mod!!!!!., No need to install Xpoesd...Xposed framework with App Settings and app settings preferences baked in and active at boot up. Touchwiz launcher 6x6 optimized and sized for 200 dpi 1280x820 with Rotation, tablet dialer and contacts, Multi dpi white Samsung keyboard that works on all three UI's. Tablet MMS, DownloadsUi, Task manager, Music player, My files, Multi window, Note 8 wallpaper chooser, etc........If you plan on messing with the dpi of TW Launcher, I recommend installing a backup launcher as TW will FC sometimes when you change dpi..Just clear Touchwiz home app data and it should stop.
you can also enable or disable home or back button in status bar on tablet mode via the UI Switcher. Once you enable or disable turn off the screen via power button and turn back on to take affect. Also you can change the quick launch icon on the statusbar(screen shot icon) to another shortcut or disable it for space with the quick lauch setting in Settings app.
IF YOU PLAN ON USING PHONE UI WITH THIS ROM (WICH I DONT KNOW WHY YOU WOULD) I LEFT THE STOCK APPS IN THE /SYSTEM/APP AMD THEY ARE ALL RENAMED TO WHATEVERAPP.BAK, BEFORE SWITCHING TO PHONE MODE AT LEAST CHANGE SecContact.bak back to SecContact.apk AND CHANGE PERMISSIONS..THENCHANGE SecTabletContacts.apk to bak AND DO THE SAME FOR MESSAGING APP...THEN SWITCH TO PHONE UI WITH UI CHANGER APP SO AT LEAST UR DIALER AND MESSAGING WORKS
One small instruction...before or after flashing, use root explorer on phone ...or 7zip with a pc.Navigate to system/etc/ . Got to the apns-config.xml, long press if using root explorer and select "open with text editor" or if on a PC use notepad++ and you will se a couple lines that read
mmsc="http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms?X-VZW-MDN=5555555555"
Just change the 5555555555 to you telephone number so it looks like
mmsc="http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms?X-VZW-MDN=412699776"
If you do this before you flash your fine. If you use root explorer make sure you save the edit, then change permissions to rw r r . Then reboot and you'll send MMS fine****If you don't do this you'll be able to text and receive MMS, but not send MMS*****Also if you want to revert to stock phone MMS app you will not need this fix because this is a stock Verizon based ROM.....
Beside that just boot in recovery
If coming from version1 just wipe cache and dalvik
If coming from another ROM Do a full wipe(Data,Cache and Dalvik) You can wipe System also if coming from a AOSP or INTL ROM
Flash ROM ....wait patiently and Reboot
First boot takes a while also...your not boot looping
After first boot If you don't like the set UI or dpi, change it via the ui switcher app and reboot
Experiment and if any of the app layouts look off.... change dpi to your liking via xposed App Settings app
Stock phone apps run best at 240-320 dpi and tablet apps 160dpi to 213dpi with [email protected] 1600x900 or1280x820

Changelog
7/19:Fixed xposed app settings to work on boot without changing permissions
Fixed siszing issues with system ui (Multi window traybar in tablet and in phablet at 220dpi notification pull down fits screen)
Added the original apn-conf.xml to system/etc and renamed to apn-conf.bak in case you wanna use stock or 2nd party messaging apps
Aded xposed xtoggles(gives you the ability to theme notification toggles(thanks xperiacle)
Added xposed x backroud (gives you the ability to change the backround almost anywhere..still in beta though..(thanks xpericale)
Added xposed multiwindow apps manager **important** this app will not work to add/remove apps to the traybar in tablet and phablet..but if you go to settings of the app on the top right hand corner it gives us the ability to resize floating windows to our liking, then reboot for changes to work
Some more fixes I cant think of.....
Next update will include aroma and some more tweaks and fixes..this is a work in progress. Deckoz is working really hard to get settings to work in dual pane without a work around.
Also if you use the shortcut fix for dual pane settings you can download a app called icon changer from the market(its free) and it gives you the ability to change and rename icons with stock or custom icons on touchwiz. Just use it to create a settings shortcut and use the stock settings icon and name the shortcut settings and you have a stock settings icon that launches dual pane settings!!!!!
*******This is a Beta release, you may find bugs***********This is a Beta release, you may find bugs**************
Bugs; Right now Settings will only work single pane at any DPI but the DP/Resolution must be at 480x 854 or will FC. Deckoz2302 and I are currently trying to find a fix for dual pane and he is pretty close. If you want settings in DualPane tablet mode the work around for now is change dpi to 160dpi @ 1280x820 with Xposed App Settings, then clear data of settings in App Settings. Now go to widgets and select settings shortcut/display click the icon and settings will launch fine in dual pane. Thanks to Deckoz2302
Xposed APP settings not stickingSome are problem having trouble with the xposed app settings not sticking. Here is the fix

EDIT nvrmnd...dl works now...
I have big plans for this ROM......Just wanted to give some people a lil treat that have been asking to help out...
Sent from a unlocked and cocked GN2!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll be hopping on board to get this rom up and running with most of the functions our other roms have but geared toward tablet.
Biggest thing right now is getting a fully unlocked settings to include all or most of the hidden menus as well as launch in tablet mode

Flashed the ROM, almost all setup...definitely looking forward to the dual view settings !
ROM has a great start for sure!
Have it set up and running. Love the fact that besides the mms edit, you don't have to edit or adjust anything else.
I used the UI Switcher to set it to tablet mode at 213 DPI, and its running smoothly.
Thanks for all the hard work guys!
Running nicely so far. Is there a way to remove apps from multi window yet?

Sounds weird...Its works fine for me. Stock kernel was working fine. After you enable or disable home or back buttons with UI switcher you need to turn off screen via power button and then it should work. Also you can change or disabler the quick launch icon on the status bar(Screen shot) via quick launch option in settings.
No more one handed operation?

Works well...however
Still thinks it's a tablet in the market....
Not too, too bad, assuming I can change the dpi setting to match the settings for a phone (320 dpi). Also trying to make the phone work in any configuration is tough (at least I'm feeling dumb). What could the proper dpi for the phone be? (works in tablet mode, but if I switch to phablet or phone it craps out. I tried setting it to 320 dpi...I might not be doing something right)
Otherwise, feels really good and fast..

If you use the ui switcher it tells u tablet, phablet or phone dpis....Our phones stock dpi is 320 though...but in phone mode stuff like tablet dialer might FC because its ment for tablet or phablet..If you like normal phone mode .I lwft the phone apps in system/app.Just navigate there with root explorer and rename the tablet app to xxxxx.bak and the stock ap to xxx.apk, set permissions and reboot

Insructions for phone mode are now in OP but all tablet apps will work in phablet mode..just not phone mode.......

Also as stated in the op. THIS IS JUST A BETA RELEASE...IF YOU FIND A TRUE BUG PLEASE PM ME. ONLY FOR TRUE BUGS...I APPRECIATE ALL FEEDBACK TO MAKE THIS ROM BETTER
Sent from a unlocked and cocked GN2!!!!!!!!!!!
I noticed that I can't seem to change the DPI to 165 and make it stick, and the back and home buttons persist regardless of what I do. Initially after disabling them they were gone, then after a reboot they came back to stay. These are minor though.
Overall this ROM is great. I have been using Moon, but never could get the GPS to work. It works perfect with this ROM, it's now my daily driver. I'm really looking forward to the final product.
Great job....running nicely. Can't wait to see where it goes with updates.

This worked for me... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40364125&postcount=363 - my changes are now sticking.
Here is a couple of flashable zips I put together a couple months back and thought for those of us who still prefer stock, why not share them.. so here we go.......
Please make sure to read the entire op, as I did my best to make it perfectly clear LOL... failure to do so will be obvious by questions you feel the need to ask...
NOTE
These are for stock firmware and roms only. It is also a good idea to be deodexed. They will not work in any CM or KitKat roms as far as I know.
Also, when you install them, they will remove any modifications to status bar and lockscreen that you already have on your phone.
Now having said that:
First is a status bar that is transparent. It also has transparent notification panel (as best as can be with the shadowing that occurs when you pull down your notifications as I have not found a way to change that, yet). It also has lidroid 23 toggles with thanks to the developer of that (please note that the flashlight and reboot options will not work still). It is themed blue with blue quick start buttons for wifi, data, gps etc., and the top panel is a blue also. There are seconds on the centered clock of the status bar and in the notfications panel. The date in the notifications panel is centered also. On the top right of the notifications there are buttons for settings, recent apps, and clear all notifications. Only thing other than notifications is the brightness slider. The font for notifications, and ongoing have been made bold and light in color for easier view in outdoor conditions There are no battery icons on the status bar, so if you want to see your battery level you need to go to settings, then display, and select show battery percentage. Wifi, signal, clock, and battery percentages are white (they will not show with apps that have white statuses on top but for me that is fine). See first 3 screenshots.
download:
23toggles_blue_transparent_Seconds-5.zip
Second will install Ink Effect, 4 way reboot menu, 5 shortcuts on lockscreen option, and transparent status bar on the lock screen. See last 4 screenshots.
download:
Inkeffect-4reboots-5LSshortcuts-TransLS.zip
Make sure when you install via your choice of recovery (CWM or TWRP) to mount your system and preloads before you install. I also strongly suggest you make a complete back up of your phone so if you don't like the changes you can revert back to how your phone was before.
Here are some screenshots of both mods in action on my phone. I have installed these on several versions of firmware, the latest is UBLPK from Argentina and they worked fine. I wouldn't install on any older firmwares before XXLQI. Will cause strange things to happen in your phone when you are asked to select default settings.

I dunno, I doubt very much changing anything in systemui would remove music player. One thing you should do before making any changes is back up your firmware with cwm or twrp.

Did you go to settings>lockscreen>lockscreen options? That is where you can set up shortcut and ink effect. You have turn on ink and shortcuts. Also are you using deodexed?

There is no option for the ink-effekt. and only 3 shortcuts with 2 names extra (ShaoNV, Kaiti). Never seen before. And probably odexed.

Ok, first you are probably rooted and have twrp or cwm for recovery. If you are rooted, you need an explorer with root access. Go to system>apps and find secsettings.odex and rename it to secsettings.odex.bkup then reinstall the zip file. Clear cache and dalvick cache then reboot. Are you using only the ink, shortcuts, transparent status bar on lockscreen mod? or both?
Edit: You can always install a deodexed firmware that matches the current firmware on your phone.
Shortcuts now ok, but the inkeffect is not working. I see the option and can change the colour, but cant check it , it doesnt safe?
My phone is rooted/twrp.
