[Q] Screen goes black after trying to boot 4ext - HTC Amaze 4G

I had CyanogenMod 10.1 on my phone and was going to try Dark Glass.
I formatted everything/full wipe/etc. via 4ext.
I did the install, booted it up and got to the welcome screen. It rebooted itself 3 times and I could not get past the welcome screen.
Now when choosing recovery in the bootloader menu, I do reach the 4ext boot screen where it says "Preparing Boot 0..1" and then the screen goes black.
When I power it up normally, I get the splash screen and then the screen goes black but you can still see that the phone is on.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

***how do I flash the PH85IMG if I can't put it on my phone/my sd card slot doesn't work?
I can't get my phone recognized when running adb and fastboot says there are errors in every ruu I try to push.

Nothing?

I have no access to:
recovery
internal storage
ext storage
The only thing I can access is bootloader/fastboot.
s-on and bootloader relocked.

Bootloader is now unlocked.
I flashed cwm through fastboot.
But I cannot mount sdcard/internal storage or Mount usb storage to drag and drop roms while in recovery.
I can use adb to transfer roms but I can't "install from sd card" in cwm because it gives me an error everytime:
E:Can't mount/sdcard/
I don't have the option "choose from internal storage" either.
When I choose "Mount USB storage" the error is:
E: Unable to write to ums lunfile (No such file or directory)

internal SD card is either corrupted or unmounted only a Factory Ruu fixes this or some adb commands in threads you'll have to search, try 4ext touch recovery also again.
or try to get a phone from friend, put SD card and PH85IMG.zip Ruu, put SD card back into your phone, boot into boot loader let it update, Micro SD USB Adapter should do this too.

Make sure you name it right to PH85IMG.zip. If it's already in RAR format don't add .zip or the file will be read as "PH85IMG.zip.zip" therfore causing an error.

Yes I know this.
1) My sd card reader is NOT working. I tried another sd card and it is not being read. Plugging in my usb cord does not do anything either.
2) CWM will not let me mount my sd card or internal storage or mount usb storage. This is after trying 2 sd cards.
3) I flashed 4ext through fastboot and it said it was successful, but when I try going into to recovery it does not load.
I can download all the RUUs out there, but if I can't even get them on my phone to have them loaded in hboot, than what should I do?

there is an option in HTC Amaze 4G All-In-One Toolkit V5.2 by hasoon
Flash Factory Ruu.zip if I remember right
boot into bootloader-fastboot USB mode connected to pc
rename the factory ruu to ROM.zip and place it in the same folder of hasoon tool.
try that option..

Speed Rom 3.1.0 help!!

I was on S-off leaked RUU ICS running fine, I downloaded the latest speed rom and it gave me this error while trying to flash
Formatting partitions
(system is unmounted already)
E: Error in /sdcard/Speed Rom ICS 3.1.0.zip
(Status 1)
Installation aborted.
I downloaded it again and got the same error.
When i tried a third time i was no longer able to get into CWM.
I tried flashing CWM again using the all in one tool which pushed it fine but it still does not load CWM, I tried pushing 4ext and TWRP with the same results. 4ext was able to get to a screen where it said 4ext is loading 3..2..1.. but then back to the white HTC screen
is there a way i can push the RUU leak file via ADB so i can flash that again using the built in recovery?
Thanks,

The command should be...(put the PH85IMG.zip in your tools folder first)
Code:

If sdcard2 doesn't work try sdext or sd_ext

I tried that way too later on. It gave me permission denied. I think because my rom was gone debugging was no longer enabled and write permissions to the SD card were gone. I was able to get back up and running by using a card reader.

Need help...(yea, another newb)

Ok, I was trying to flash the newest ICS leak and being the newb I am, its borked.
Right now I have an unlocked bootloader with H-Boot 2.11.0000
I have a blank SD card and I just need to know what files to copy to it and what steps to get back to stock or possibly getting the 5/8 ROM leak installed
I'm assuming your s-on still, follow the directions in the OP to install.
Installation for S-ON Devices on Gingerbread firmware
* Copy ROM to SD Card AND PH98IMG.zip AND GB Firmware Patch to ROOT of SD Card
* Reboot to recovery
* wipe data / Factory Reset
* Flash ROM
* Flash GB Fimrware Patch
* Use Developer Menu to reboot to bootloader and flash the boot.img file in the PH98IMG.zip
* Reboot
* Profit!
How exactly do you FLASH the rom without renaming it?

1) Easiest thing for you is to turn USB Debugging on in Settings (Apps > Development), hook up to PC, and use the Hasoon2000 Noob-proof toolkit to reboot directly to recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22696442
2)Many Custom ROMs have Reboot to Recovery in the power button menu
3)Ninja grab the battery at an angle and slide SD Card out, go to recovery, and slide in while mainitaining power connection. (Not ah, recommended but good in a bind)

You need to first flash a custom recovery and then select that option (AmonRa 3.15 recommended, CWM is buggy on charging battery). That Hasoon2000 kit in last post can do that for you too if you don't have AmonRa installed.

That seems to be the biggest issue, can I flash a recovery without being able to boot my phone up... I only have access to the bootloader.
All the instructions fail to mention the requirement for the recovery app... That was the newb boo-boo.
I think there is a zip somewhere, but it's easier with adb.
fastboot flash recovery (name of recovery).img
I recommend S-Off. It makes all of this super easy. I promise its really not that hard. The wire trick looks worse than it is.
Edit: fixed. I'm retarded in the morning.

Yeah, manually you can flash a custom recovery via the same method, a PH98IMG.zip from bootloader. You delete the existing PH98IMG file and replace with one containing AmonRa (what exactly is that zip, do you need it still?)
But, adb fastboot commands when hooked up to PC can flash the recovery directly to memory from an img file. Just need USB Debugging turned on in the Settings on a regular boot to the ROM.
Sooo just use the toolkit on a PC to eliminate hassle if ya can lol. It uses that second paragraph's method. Just need to click an option and it runs the script. Now ya know both ways.
Oh, link in earlier post from my XDA app is not working :/ here is the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22696442
I guess until I find the zip and instructions I have a brick.

Ah, I meant the ROM, but not even the ROM boots because of bad flash. No worries. Don't need to be in the ROM anyway, toolkit works in the bootloader.
1) Ensure drivers for phone are properly installed on PC. (Google and download HTC Sync if unsure.)
2) Download and extract toolkit. Run the All In One exe file. The GUI comes up with your options.
3) With phone off, remove SD Card.
4) Boot into bootloader. Select Fastboot option.
5) Connect to PC via USB.
6) Select AmonRa from toolkit options and install.
7) Power down phone, disconnect and insert SD Card.
8) Connect phone, power it up and select Reboot to Recovery on the toolkit.
From recovery, you can enable USB mass storage option for memory and download/transfer files you need from your PC, delete the PH98IMG.zip, etc.

Several user reports in the forum say ClockworkMod (CWM) has an issue with charging our batteries when the drain gets low. Risk not being able to charge phone at all and brick that way. AmonRa or TWRP from the Development section are still recommended for this particular phone for now.
Hope you get sorted out on the ROM
Sounds like you're getting instructions to do more than you asked.

sdcard mount problem, recovery problem

fairly new to rooting, so sorry if the fix is simple (hoping it is). i have a evo 4g lte, rooted it, been having issues flashing cm10, so i would reflash a previously saved working rom, no problems. i have been using twrp for recovery. so i switched to cwmr (HUGE MISTAKE)to try and see if that would somehow fix why everytime i was flashing cm10 my phone would never load past the loading screen ( android in middle of revolving circle). basically my problem is, in recovery i cant mount ext-sd or the internal sd, i can "see" my saved backups, but cant flash them, when i try it says" no files found" i played with things for a while, somehow got some old downloaded cm10 version to work, so i atleast have a working phone, but cant mount my sdcard under storage which i need done to flash twrp back into my phone. ive been reading on how to use termianl emulator to mount sd card, but cant figuer that out, any help would be muchly appreciated, sorry for long description of my issue, i just want to be able to flash twrp, reboot into recovery and restore back to a previously working rom!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
also... cm update is constantly running, cant stop it, my pc doesnt recognize my phone, cant mount in recovery or in settings. tried copy and pasting the saved zip files using a root browser app to relocate them and trying to reboot into recovery and flashing them, that does work... please help!!!!
If you can get into terminal emulator, then just flash twrp using that. The directions are on their website.

You can update recovery image through fastboot or place the twrp update zip (rename PJ75IMG.zip) on external and boot to bootloader. As for internal being corrupt, boot into twrp and mount as USB storage and format through pc

EVO LTE Semi-Bricked

So I tried rooting my device and got the bootloader unlocked using HTCDev. Then I tried to install a ROM and got stuck in a bootloop. So I got scared and tried to flash the RUU but could not find the 3.16.651.3 RUU so I tried the 3.16.651.3 RUU thinking it would work (facepalm). The RUU update process failed and now my device is really messed up. I can boot to fastboot or TWRP but TWRP can detect my internal SD card. It shows "Storage: Internal SDcard (0 MB)" and I can't reformat it.
Please if anyone can offer any help.
Thanks.
Can you connect to a PC and try to reformat that way? You have to be s-off to ruu.

Boot into recovery and hook your phone to your PC. Then select the "Mount" settting in TWRP and select what storage you would like to mount. You should then be prompted to format on your PC.

After you tried the above suggestions, I am also S-On and when flashing a ROM you have to flash the boot.img of said ROM separately using ADB fastboot commands. That is why you was bootlooped in the first place.

hi there.
i can help.
you need to unlock bootloader using htcdev.
install CWM for your international device from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498749
download my stock backup from here https://www.dropbox.com/s/pj9mds5lalg84lu/clockworkmodbackup.rar
uncompress my stock backup to your sdcard.
goto recovery and restore from backup
this will take you to 1.54.401 stock (only hboot 2.47 or below)
if that dont work, your hboot must have been updated. if your hboot is 2.49, then install virtuous 2.02
Thank you boss, i m downloading the files right now,
your back up is being downloaded and i also downloaded
International
Touch - http://flyhalf205.com/getdownload.ph...0.4.5-t6ul.img
Classic - http://flyhalf205.com/getdownload.ph...0.4.5-t6ul.img
Stock - http://flyhalf205.com/getdownload.ph...overy_t6ul.img
will this work for me and my hboot is 2.46.0000.
i already unloked my bootloader from htcdev.
Thank you as soon as i get the results i will let you know!

you need to fastboot flash the recovery on there. downlod this htc one max toolkit found on this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578663
use the toolkit to flash the cwm international recovey.
once flashed, myou can then choose recovery from hboot and hopefully it will boot cwm
so i used the toolkit to flash teh recovery. i pushed the file on the right side of the toolkit where it says flash recovery and it showed its done show how many seconds it took. now i pushed the back-up into the sd card and selected recovery in the hboot menu. it reboots and come back to the same red triangle. i do now know what to do.
i would greatly appreciate it, if you can give me step by step guide. i know i am making some type of mistake.
once again i greatly appreciate your help!
are you definitely unlocked?
need unlocked bootloader to flash recovery.
open a command prompt windows (dos window) with admin (hold shift and right click toolkit folder ond select command prompt here)
navigate to the toolkit folder where the fastboot tool sits. now copy your downloaded recovery.img in the same folder as the fastboot.
make sure the downloaded recovery file is called recovery.img
now type this
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

on your pc, uncompress the zip keeping folders structure.
in recovery, choose advanced and mount. mount usb and copy the uncompressed clockworkmod folder to the phone.
then try restore from backup.
when you use push command, i think its coping to internal storage. you need my backup folder on external.
good luck dude

the backup has helped others restore their device so it defo works dude.
your sd card should contain this folder structure. clockworkmod\backup\2014-01-07.22.42.20
if all fails, download virtuous 2.0.0 international zip and install that. thats based on latest kitkat update and works

do a full wipe in recovery.
from the main menu in clockwork i did the wipe cache and factory reset. it took out the system and it got stuck again at the htc one screen. i am intalling it again and see. should the sd card stay in the phone the whole time?

sdcard being there all the time shouldnt make any difference.
make a full wipe/factory reset, wipe dalvik
install virtuous roms
reboot
thats all to it.

that's the one. virtuous 2.0 something. then once installed do the virtous ota to 2.0.2
ps install twrp recovey . best recovery to install this rom
and fingerprint sensor wont work while unlocked. relock the bootloader and fingerprint works.
you can lock and unlock bootloader without htcdev as long as you got soff hboot.
