hi there.
i can help.
you need to unlock bootloader using htcdev.
install CWM for your international device from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498749
download my stock backup from here https://www.dropbox.com/s/pj9mds5lalg84lu/clockworkmodbackup.rar
uncompress my stock backup to your sdcard.
goto recovery and restore from backup
this will take you to 1.54.401 stock (only hboot 2.47 or below)
if that dont work, your hboot must have been updated. if your hboot is 2.49, then install virtuous 2.02
Thank you boss, i m downloading the files right now,
your back up is being downloaded and i also downloaded
International
Touch - http://flyhalf205.com/getdownload.ph...0.4.5-t6ul.img
Classic - http://flyhalf205.com/getdownload.ph...0.4.5-t6ul.img
Stock - http://flyhalf205.com/getdownload.ph...overy_t6ul.img
will this work for me and my hboot is 2.46.0000.
i already unloked my bootloader from htcdev.
Thank you as soon as i get the results i will let you know!

you need to fastboot flash the recovery on there. downlod this htc one max toolkit found on this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578663
use the toolkit to flash the cwm international recovey.
once flashed, myou can then choose recovery from hboot and hopefully it will boot cwm
so i used the toolkit to flash teh recovery. i pushed the file on the right side of the toolkit where it says flash recovery and it showed its done show how many seconds it took. now i pushed the back-up into the sd card and selected recovery in the hboot menu. it reboots and come back to the same red triangle. i do now know what to do.
i would greatly appreciate it, if you can give me step by step guide. i know i am making some type of mistake.
once again i greatly appreciate your help!
are you definitely unlocked?
need unlocked bootloader to flash recovery.
open a command prompt windows (dos window) with admin (hold shift and right click toolkit folder ond select command prompt here)
navigate to the toolkit folder where the fastboot tool sits. now copy your downloaded recovery.img in the same folder as the fastboot.
make sure the downloaded recovery file is called recovery.img
now type this
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

on your pc, uncompress the zip keeping folders structure.
in recovery, choose advanced and mount. mount usb and copy the uncompressed clockworkmod folder to the phone.
then try restore from backup.
when you use push command, i think its coping to internal storage. you need my backup folder on external.
good luck dude

your sd card should contain this folder structure. clockworkmod\backup\2014-01-07.22.42.20
if all fails, download virtuous 2.0.0 international zip and install that. thats based on latest kitkat update and works

I need some help and advice.
I was on Virtuous Shooter 1.0.2 Rom and tried to install a kernel from the CDMA section.
Before i flashed it i made a nandroid backup, so i could allways go back (I thought).
But after flashing the Kernel it didn't go to the rom, but to my recovery.
So the rom booted just fine, only my recovery was broken.
Then i tried flashing a new recovery by using Rom manager. The phone crashed while doing this.
And now all i can do is boot into the bootloader and fastboot.
Should i use the revolutionary tool again when in fastboot? Or can i do a fastboot restore like this:
Manual Nandroid restore
Make a Nandroid backup, and copy the folder off your SD card to your desktop.
cd ~/Desktop/path/to/backup/
fastboot flash userdata data.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
I don't want to make things worse now, so i could use some advice.
I'm at work now so won't be trying this in the next few hours.
Thanx already
Download and flash an RUU
1. You now need to pick the RUU you wish to flash, a good source is this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208485
2. Once you have downloaded the RUU you would like to flash, run it (it can take a while to load), and stop when you get the welcome screen, which has a picture of a Evo 3D on the left and a red caution notice on the right.
3. Move this window out of the way (it forces itself into foreground), then open up windows explorer and go to:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp
4. Then sort by Date Modified. Find the newest folder with a long random sequence of numbers as its name, go in here and you should see, three files and a folder: corecomp, dotnetinstaller, IBSEW64. (the files may be different on 32-bit OS), now go into the folder which has another long random name.
In there amongst a lot of files (use search if you need to), you will find rom.zip. This is the rom we want to flash!
5. Copy the rom.zip file to the root of your SD Card
(i.e. if your on Windows, X:/ [where X is the letter of your EVO 3D's SD Card])
6. Rename the rom.zip you just put on your SD Card, to PG86IMG.zip (ensure you do not rename it to PG86IMG.zip.zip or it wont work!)
7. Find the "HTC Android ROM Update Utility" Window, and hit Cancel.
Flash RUU (rom.zip)
1. EITHER:
1a. Shut down your phone, then take out your battery and put it back in.OR:
1b. Make sure fastboot is disabled in settings and shut down your phone (This can be done via Settings > Power> Untick "FAST BOOT" at the bottom.)
2. Keep hold of the volume down button and switch your phone on.
3. When it asks "Do you want to start the update", press Volume Up to accept (this can take a while and its normal for the system part to appear to go in a loop several times)
5. Press Power Off to reboot to first time setup.
6. Your phone is now debranded!
7. Remove PG86IMG.zip from your memory card
Thanx, sounds good, but what does this do?
I don't need a new rom, i need my recovery back, so i can restore my nandroid, i believe this only gives me the rom part?

2. How comes that you are flashing a CDMA Kernel?
3. You also flashed a cdma Recovery lol

I was aware that it was from the CDMA section, but as most of the development is going on in there, and on my previous phone the kernels worked on both models. I tried a CDMA kernel, if it wouldn't work i could just restore my nandroid. But i didn't expect the kernel to overwrite my recovery.
And for flashing the recovery, i just used the normal ROM Manager option of flashing a recovery, Rom manager doesn't name a GSM or CDMA model, just HTC Evo 3D recovery, and that screwed up my rom.
Nandroid restoring now
thanx all who helped me :-D
I have come copied the ROM.zip to the SDCARD and rename to PG86IMG.zip
However each time I go into bootloader, it doesnt ask me to Update. It will automatically detect and start loading the zip (with one error image not found or something). You can still see a blue status bar on the right side but once its completely done it doesnt appear anything have happened. Rebooting the phone proves nothing was flashed.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need a FAT 16 SDCARD or goldcard to do this?
Hello Guys, I hope to be in the right section...I have a problem with my HTC Rezound. Few months ago I unlocked the boot thought HTCDEV and I install Amon Ra Recovery 3.13 and after 3.15 and so ever since I was able to flash ROMs etc.
Yesterday I downloaded a new ROM after I did a full erase through the recovery... the installation was fine but when I turn on the device it was stuck on a black screen.
So with adb I tried to flash the room with fastboot on the terminal of my pc... I tried a million of times but after a while I always get the same message:
installing boot
image error (Boot Magic check failed)
I tried to erese the recovery or to install a new kernel or boot etc... nothing worked so far...
What can I do ????
Thanks

Yep yep, also if you are trying to flash BAMF ROM you have to do put the PH98IMG.zip manually in the sdcard its not automated like scott's or bored's (unless this has changed)
didn't work
I was tryng to flash a rom from scott's clean rom and it didn't work...after I downloaded pretty much all the rom that I could find and none of them worked...
also that the rom that I use to flash in the past don't work anymore...
I pulled out the battery... i went through the recovery HBoot etc...but none of them worked
right now I'm hopeless

You can't install a ROM using fastboot and ADB commands, it has to be done through recovery.
Each ROM is a specifically formatted update zip file. It has the files for the ROM, plus an update script/update binary. Recovery knows what to do with this because it was designed to use these. Fastboot, is far more generic, and will only flash files packages in the .img format. These files are meant to replace entire partitions.
My suggestion would be to try to re-flash your recovery from fastboot and see if you can gain access to the recovery.
Ok, I was trying to flash the newest ICS leak and being the newb I am, its borked.
Right now I have an unlocked bootloader with H-Boot 2.11.0000
I have a blank SD card and I just need to know what files to copy to it and what steps to get back to stock or possibly getting the 5/8 ROM leak installed
I'm assuming your s-on still, follow the directions in the OP to install.
Installation for S-ON Devices on Gingerbread firmware
* Copy ROM to SD Card AND PH98IMG.zip AND GB Firmware Patch to ROOT of SD Card
* Reboot to recovery
* wipe data / Factory Reset
* Flash ROM
* Flash GB Fimrware Patch
* Use Developer Menu to reboot to bootloader and flash the boot.img file in the PH98IMG.zip
* Reboot
* Profit!
How exactly do you FLASH the rom without renaming it?

1) Easiest thing for you is to turn USB Debugging on in Settings (Apps > Development), hook up to PC, and use the Hasoon2000 Noob-proof toolkit to reboot directly to recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22696442
2)Many Custom ROMs have Reboot to Recovery in the power button menu
3)Ninja grab the battery at an angle and slide SD Card out, go to recovery, and slide in while mainitaining power connection. (Not ah, recommended but good in a bind)

You need to first flash a custom recovery and then select that option (AmonRa 3.15 recommended, CWM is buggy on charging battery). That Hasoon2000 kit in last post can do that for you too if you don't have AmonRa installed.

That seems to be the biggest issue, can I flash a recovery without being able to boot my phone up... I only have access to the bootloader.
All the instructions fail to mention the requirement for the recovery app... That was the newb boo-boo.
I think there is a zip somewhere, but it's easier with adb.
fastboot flash recovery (name of recovery).img
I recommend S-Off. It makes all of this super easy. I promise its really not that hard. The wire trick looks worse than it is.
Edit: fixed. I'm retarded in the morning.

Yeah, manually you can flash a custom recovery via the same method, a PH98IMG.zip from bootloader. You delete the existing PH98IMG file and replace with one containing AmonRa (what exactly is that zip, do you need it still?)
But, adb fastboot commands when hooked up to PC can flash the recovery directly to memory from an img file. Just need USB Debugging turned on in the Settings on a regular boot to the ROM.
Sooo just use the toolkit on a PC to eliminate hassle if ya can lol. It uses that second paragraph's method. Just need to click an option and it runs the script. Now ya know both ways.
Oh, link in earlier post from my XDA app is not working :/ here is the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22696442
I guess until I find the zip and instructions I have a brick.

Ah, I meant the ROM, but not even the ROM boots because of bad flash. No worries. Don't need to be in the ROM anyway, toolkit works in the bootloader.
1) Ensure drivers for phone are properly installed on PC. (Google and download HTC Sync if unsure.)
2) Download and extract toolkit. Run the All In One exe file. The GUI comes up with your options.
3) With phone off, remove SD Card.
4) Boot into bootloader. Select Fastboot option.
5) Connect to PC via USB.
6) Select AmonRa from toolkit options and install.
7) Power down phone, disconnect and insert SD Card.
8) Connect phone, power it up and select Reboot to Recovery on the toolkit.
From recovery, you can enable USB mass storage option for memory and download/transfer files you need from your PC, delete the PH98IMG.zip, etc.

Several user reports in the forum say ClockworkMod (CWM) has an issue with charging our batteries when the drain gets low. Risk not being able to charge phone at all and brick that way. AmonRa or TWRP from the Development section are still recommended for this particular phone for now.
Hope you get sorted out on the ROM
Sounds like you're getting instructions to do more than you asked.

Yes, just install the new recovery normally, will be okay.
I guess I did end up installing AMON recovery, I just checked. Creating Nandroid right now....
Does a Nandroid basically recover EVERYTHING?
I’m extremely new to the Android community and I did do a lot of reading on how to unlock, install a recovery, and install ICS on my HTC Rezound. The problem I’m having is that I found an ICS ROM to install. I downloaded it, renamed it PH98IMG.zip, installed it onto my SD card through Clockworkmod Recovery, I then tried rebooting into the bootloader to get the zip file installed, but this is what happens in bootloader:
SD Checking…
Loading…[PH98DIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading…[ph98diag.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading…[ph98img.zip]
And there’s a vertical progress bar on the right side of the screen that fills up, but then nothing happens after that. It goes back into the bootloader screen. Now my phone won’t startup at all, I get stuck at the HTC white startup screen. I can get into bootloader and Clockworkmod recovery, but nothing else works.
If anybody can please help me with step by step instructions I would really really really appreciate it. Thanks.
I should also mention that I followed a YouTube video on how to install ICS on my Rezound (I can't post a link of the video b/c XDA website won't let me).
The video had me unlock the bootloader, install CWM recovery, and install something called Ineffabilis-Deus-v1.0.1-Odex.zip. Everything up to this point worked just like the video (which is point 3:30 on the video). After that, nothing else worked.
I've ended up formatting the SD card from CWM recovery so now there's nothing on the SD card. Not even the PH98IMG.zip file. PLEASE PLEASE HELP!
If you still have ADB set up after you unlocked, here's whatchya do.
1. Unzip the P98 file.
2. Move the boot.img into your ADB directory.
3. Plug your phone into your computer.
4. Run CMD as administrator and type in the following commands
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Should work just fine after that. :good:
And I really hope you are at least using the modded CWM recovery from this post and elsewhere, you'll have issues if your phone fully drains otherwise:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27517554
Worry about reflashing recovery on its own after you get the ROM up and running, just be sure you keep the phone charged. And consider AmonRa or TWRP recovery.

:good:

YES! It worked! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Now to figure out how to get Amon Ra installed and uninstall CWM Recovery.
You can download Amon Ra from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23781936&postcount=428
rename img file to recovery.img and flash using fastboot as below
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Rename to PH98IMG and install via boot loader.

Thanks.

My Rezound has the exact same screen when going to the bootloader. I tried so very hard to avoid this but it must be done, I have to ask for help. I have no idea how to fix this phone. When trying to boot it gets all the way to the 4GLTE screen and stops, forever.
This phone is rooted with an unlocked bootloader, S-On, using Hasoon2000's AIO. It was working fine up until I did something stupid and loaded Motioncoding's Beats audio installer. (In case you're wondering I did this in an attempt to have the Beat's audio function while using Pandora, unfortunately this stopped the stock music player from functioning with headphones, I'm and idiot, I know...)
The problem occurred once I tried to uninstall the beat's audio installer using Root Browser Lite and deleting the system files they specified in the instructions. Apparently I deleted one to many and upon restart this is where I ended up. I have tried numerous fixes but the problem I keep running into is I cannot get access to Android via a USB connection on my PC. I still have access to the bootloader and to Clockworkmod Recovery but that is it. If someone can explain to me how to fix this it would really make me feel better and I promise I will never try to do something this stupid again. Thanks.

Did you create a nandroid backup as recommended before trying any new mods? If not, reflash your rom in recovery/boot.img in fastboot, with only a system wipe. If so, restore your nandroid, if you don't boot then reflash a proper boot.img in fastboot.
Yeap snuzzo is spot on. I just wanted to add that it's not a big problem at all, not even something to stress about. We will help you get it fixed up. If you have the vertical loading var, there's a PH98IMG.zip file on the external sd card that you need to delete.
Since it was mentioned in the quote, make sure you aren't running the official clockwork mod recovery. Either run amon ra or fly halfs custom clockwork mod

So I tried to flash a rom and hit some problems, now when I try to restart my phone it gets stuck on the "verizon 4g lte" screen and wont load past there. When I open bootloader there are 3 warnings at the very top:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** RELOCKED ***
*** Security Warning ***
How can I get my phone back to stock? I need this IMMEDIATLY if possible!!
Also make it as simple as possible, I'm new to roms and roots and flashing.

as it was stated, you need to unlock your bootloader again. A recovery image is a image that we use to flash and wipe roms and the phone. Amon RA, TWRP and CW are the ones we can use for our phone. I personally use TWRP and Amon RA depending on my mood. You can find them here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425091
Towards the bottom of the list you will see recovery. You will need to flash one of those in order to flash a custom rom.
Also make sure to read the tutorials towards the bottom. before you start messing with your phone you should be familiar with everything. If you do something wrong and brick your phone, its hard to recover from if at all and you would have an expensive paper weight

1. you need to download fastboot if you have not already. You can find that in the android sdk
2.) once fastboot is downloaded boot your phone into bootloader and select the fastboot option and plug your phone into your computer
3.) place the recovery image in the same directory as fastboot and use the command prompt (windows key +r then type cmd and hit enter)
4.) change directory to where fastboot is and run this command
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
where recovery.img is the name of the recovery file that you downloaded

yeah no problem.
If you go back into the bootloader and select recovery, this will bring you into the Amon Ra.
Download a rom from the forums, I personally like Neo's Roms, Infection 2.8.1 is a good choice. But download any rom and put it on your SD card.
1.) select USB-MS toggle and then select on of the options
2.) copy downloaded rom to mounted sdcard
3.) once copied, hit the power button to unmount and then return to the main menu
4.)select wipe from the main menu and then do each one of these 3 times
Wipe All data/factory reset
Wipe /data
Wipe /cache
Wipe /Dalvik-cache
Wipe /system
then go back to main menu and then select Fash zip menu and select where you placed your rom and then flash...once its flash go back to main menu and select Developers menu and selet reboot bootloader
open the rom using a zip program and pull the boot.img from the rom and place it in your fastboot directory
once you are in the bootloader it should go to fastboot usb automatically and then run these commands
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
it should reboot and load your rom

I have no idea why this isn't working
http://gyazo.com/2627f9963c95e7dc9a03cb118f139aac.png
I did your steps in order, but my phone has been stuck on rebooting... for over 15 minutes as you can see from the CMD. On my phone I just see the booting logo spinning.
I used this rom because I want jellybean: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113140
Any ideas?
Also, what do I do with the MD5? I didn't use it.

Dont worry to much about the MD5,I havent used one if forever. Its basically just a security check to make sure that the file you downloaded didnt get corrupt. But with modern technology and internet, its less likely to mess up while downloading. Still possible, but not likely

If you didn't see my edit, there is an md5 file I can download, but I didn't use it because I don't know what to do with it.

It sounds like you have a ph98img file on your sdcard. Remove the sdcard and Mount it in a PC and remove it. Then remount in the phone. Should allow to get into recovery and fastboot then

thanks for the help, before i got your message i got around the issue in a different way just trying a few things. I figured out the phone would boot into recovery with no sd card in it but i couldnt flash the rom again without it installed so i put the sd in partially and then held the battery against the contacts with out inserting it completely then booted into recovery, push the sd in the rest of the way and i was golden for there.
but i happy that someone knew wat it was on the sd card that was giving me the problem ive got that deleted now thanks for the help
