I'm in disbelief. I cannot believe this does not get more out cries from the masses.
Even after so many updates, this feature appears to have been ignored in the mobile app. Yet, it is a cornerstone feature for Dropbox, and has been for some time.
Why does Google give so much thought to Gmail and the like, yet come out with half-baked apps like drive? It's mind boggling.

Same with Google keep. They took forever to add alarms to that app. Always struck me as one of the top 3 features.

So I think everyone has received the update for google play, atleast stateside.
Opinions? Other then new promotions, does Google play really change the Android market?
and the name....? I'm going to be calling it the Android marketplace for awhile until my mind lets me say Google play without the two words sounding funny.
Anyway just wanted to hear your opinions.
I'm confused on what it actually is...

Very sneaky! I still have the original market on my tablet, and I'm going to keep it that way as long as possible.
I do use google music though. And the refreshed layout was nice. But it seems like
In addition, the update isn't working entirely globally. Out of state users can't access their books through Google Play.
( Sorry couldn't provide links earlier, but there are several blog articles out now)
You're definitely going to want to pick up a copy of the beta. If you follow SwiftKey on twitter, they're giving a direct link to the apk.
Link for the lazy : Tablet version LINK
Here is for the phone version - LINK
Have been using Swiftkey forever.
Swiftkey is nice, Although the reviews 3 is getting aren't great. A lot are saying it's laggy and their "auto spacing" is goofy to say the least.
Worst part about it... I paid for the X version, but now they will want me to pay again for the 3 version....
Stupid...
I'm enjoying it so far. Makes it easier to type without looking at the keyboard.

Purchased swiftkey when it was on offer, great keyboard app.

It's been confirmed that people who paid for X will be able to get this one for free.
I'll try to dig up the Tweet I saw about it, but Twitter is being all wonky at the moment.

I'm really liking the tablet beta right now.

Version 3 is much better than version X.
The last version was a free upgrade, unless you got it as the free app of the day. I'm a swiftkey vip, so I will find out for sure

That's the one thing I don't like about it. Hopefully they add it back in when the finished product that is released.
Wow I was actually getting kind of bored of SwiftKey x once I figured out how it tried to "learn" how I type and all that. I realized that it's algorithms weren't really that advanced in today's world. But they have done a whole lot better with this beta version. Algorithms and ai is better and I love the whole automatic space bar thing it's lovely. I can practically type perfectly now and never want to use swype again

No comma sucks. I went back already. And it lags in certain apps.
Not worthy of release yet, hense why its beta but so far, not impressed

So what would be the advantage of using skx3 to us using different languages and not, most of the time relying, on auto correct functions?

Has anyone tried out the s voice app on the rezound? This is the system app version vs the sideloaded .apk install forms from other posts S voice is a more refined voice search application developed by sammy for the gsIII for those who are wondering. So far i havent been able to put it through its paces due to fc's, but others have had better luck. Here is a link for dl and install instructions http://www.droid-life.com/2012/05/20/s-voice-from-the-galaxy-siii-ready-for-download-we-take-it-for-a-spin/#more-70227 Im just waiting on people to call this a siri copy, Problem with that claim is, voice search was in existence long before siri.
Works ok.. haven't had a lot of time to mess with it, but it does work.

Just finished watching the livestream of the Facebook Home announcement. It was mentioned that FB Home would be coming to several devices on April 12th, including HTC One, One X, One X+, GS3, GS4, and Note 2. It seems to be basically a launcher replacement/UI. They also said it would be coming to Tablets in several months. So I was curious what DNA users think. Do you care? Should we feel left out? Do you want FB Home? Do you think we will get it? When?
People who don't like FB at all, don't bother posting. You don't need it and it won't be pushed on anybody. Hopefully this thread will be for FB/DNA users who are interested in discussing FB Home.
I think it looks interesting but I actually like Sense a lot so I'm concerned about how well it will integrate and whether we will lose out on a lot of features we have come to rely upon, like widgets, etc.
I am getting it one the 12th. It looks pretty slick.

Fb home. The ui and launcher reallyoom nice. I don't use sense launcher now. That phone is a huge downgrade compared to the dna
And I meant on the 12th not one.

Count me out. This is a terrible idea in my opinion because for me like facebook but all the time? Sense launcher for me.

Even for people who are not on FB, it is generally a good thing for the Android ecosystem because, at least for now, it could be driving users towards Android who would otherwise be buying iPhones.
I use FB several times/day, but I don't think I would want this simply because it will take a lot of why I like the android platform away from me, namely, freedom. The UI of FB home doesn't look half bad, but unless you want to be forced to have your phone revolve around FB then you might instead like any one of the hundreds of other launchers currently available from the play store.
Not to mention that it took FB several months to work out some of the more basic bugs from its first android app.
This honestly smells of desperation to overcome FB's member boredom. Google could easily also make a launcher for Google+, or MySpace or Twitter could, and I'd feel the same way. It's pretty bold of FB...
Oh, and His Zuckness also wants to run ADS on the launcher as well.

It's not on iSh*t because it sucks.
If this improves the Facebook experience on Android I'm all for it.. The Facebook app has improved greatly, but compared to other apps, it's not good at all.. I'm always dealing with "loading" ... and "No internet connection" .. constant issues with the application.. We shall see what this does!!
Message
All Im really interested in is the messaging functionality, that was interesting, and maybe the lockscreen, If I could cherry pick aspects of fb home that would be nice, as a whole however I'm not that interested.
I'm always on facebook. That said, this is probably gonna suck given the track record with their FB app. I'd try it if it came to the DNA.

Can't see myself using a FB launcher personally. I like and need the seperation between the two

+1 This makes tons of sense. I wouldn't mind certain aspects running in the background I'm just not sure I want it to take over the home screen ui.
Has anyone tried grabbing the apk from another device and seeing if it works on the DNA?

Modaco's should work if you are rooted and remove the apk from /system/app.
I'm stock OTA so it tells me the signature exists as facebook came with my phone
The hacked version does work on the DNA its a pretty neat launcher if you are really that into wanting a face book phone. Sucks up data fast for those on limited data plans so make sure to check the settings. Not the best launcher, for ease of use, but it is sure different. The future of launchers could be a good start.

Hello everyone!!! I have currently been working on iMessage for Android. However the use of a Mac OSX computer is necessary or you can use a virtual machine. I need a android developer for the app, shell scriptors, and Xcode developers.
If you would like to help shoot me a PM and reply to the post.
If you are just interested post in the forum to show your support.
Right now I can currently send iMessage messages via terminal.
Curious....

This would be great!!! especially if there was a way it could be integrated into the stock app kind of like how Cyanogen announced that google voice is being integrated into stock sms.
I'd be interested in this. Wish I could help ya out though! One day....one day...
Have everything required and I'm definitely interested. PM me! Love to help.

Sure, What it does is uses the iMessage.app program on a mac to send and recieve messages. the messages are then sent to the android phone and can be replied to in a normal style messaging app. It will also allow you to choose which email address you want to send it with.
So will the use need an iOS device to get this to work? If there any way of just getting the imessanger software on android n send like SMS style etc etc

Its not going to be meant to be put into a preexisting messaging application. There are just too many settings that would have to be implemented. I am going to try and develop and app that will work with it and maybe a plugin that adds support for native messaging.
All you will need is Mac OSX no iPhone.
so the only way this will function is through mac osx? it wouldn't be possible to have a native android app that operates straight through the imesage servers?

I think a majority of the people who don't have iMessage don't have an MAC to use. The idea you proposed sound interesting because it gave us hope of by passing any apple product and still being able to talk to apple users!

I disagree. Both my wife and I are android users and Mac users. We left windows 8 year ago and haven't looked back. The customization of Android is what we love and iOS sucks for full Google services integration (especially since both our jobs are dependent on Google services). However we do have imessage on our Macs, and have friends/family that use iOS. While an app that would work without the use of a Mac would be great, I'm highly interested in using it through my mac, or any other way it would work. I'm currently using VZW messenger app on the ipad so i can answer text messages when using that.
