"Tiger Lab" DS emulator seems just like a proof of concept, but I wonder if anyone's tried it with SGS2 ? It's off the market obviously but maybe someone has the apk and can give it a shot?
Any hope for the future?

The SGS 2 should be able to emulate PSP games with it's power doubt it will because of the fact that theres no emulators, but i'm 100% sure it's powerful enough to emulate the DS.
Try NDS4Droid....

When i use NDS4Droid the games run just as slow as on my old SGS so how did u manage to make it work *brilliantly*?
Powerful enough? The ds is nowhere near 1200 mhz (times two). The ds is running at about two times 125mhz. If I recall correctly!

Hi J.2K4V,
It looks like performance varies depending on game, can I ask what you've run which works at full speed?
Also development on the emulator seems dead, can you confirm you've not had any problems since you bought the emulator?

Emulation isn't clock-for-clock. You can't simply compare the clock speeds- on the phone you'll have to emulate the DS system and that takes a huge toll in performance.
The PS2 is clocked at 299MHz yet my i7-965 at 4GHz and Radeon 5970 desktop can just sorta run GT4 smoothly. On my iMac [i7-860 (3.46GHz) and Mobility 4850] it lags like a mofo.
OP- tried Mario Kart on the Tiger Lab DS emu. ~10fps in the menus and 1fps in-game. (so much for being 100% sure it's powerful enough eh? )
Going to buy/test nds4droid now...
Even Pokemon lags like hell on NDS4Droid
For speed issues it's mostly the emulator that isn't programmed well, wait for updates, the phone should be powerfull enough

I see i had and old version 1.2.
Updated to 1.3 and still Mario Kart runs very slow ingame, menus and stuff is alot faster then SGS ofc. Still runs way to slow ingame.
Might be i only have slow games then, tried following:
Mario Kart = slow
New Super Mario Bros = slow
Smiley World Island Challenge = slow
Lego Star Wars 3 = slow
Im sure its will get better if its developement continues and it gets optimized better.
Tried Yoshi´s Island, looks like it works with normal speed.
So maby people could post wich games they can run with normal speed on current version of Nds4droid?
Still think the emulator needs alot of work before its viable for use.
No customization avalible and controls is abit small and hard to press correctly
It would be great if the emulator was optimized for dual core ^^
Mario Kart on nds4droid is about the same as the tiger labs emulator (1fps in game). It's probably better with 2D games though.

Hello all,
What can you tell me about Chainfire3D for the TP? Is it worth getting the PRO? Also - I've read on other forums that you can get plugins for it. Which ones would you recommend for the TP?
Mainly want to run emulators on it as best as I can.
Thanks

What's it used for mainly then? Can you make the games run quicker? I've overclocked it to 1.8ghz using CPU Master but thats all I've done.
Seems the SNES emulator seems a little choppy.##
EDIT - What do all 3 plugins do? I've got them installed, just unsure which one to use when.

Frankly, no offense, but if you have no idea what it does (which is sad, because research about it is so easy its not even funny), you don't need it. Best advice, stop messing with it before you have bigger problems to worry about...
Of course if the OP hasnt taken the time to look up on these things then he shouldn't be messing.

SNesoid is still running a little choppy, even with playing with Chainfire3D and installing the Qualcomm pluggin. I will give snes9x a go.
Are there any settings in ;

To make games run better or shall I just stick to default?

Hello All,
I was wondering how to improve the performance on games such as mc3, horn, and other high graphic games? I heard from someone that ics roms run games faster than gb , and that you also should overclock your device using an app called tegrak overclock. So my question is this: how well does our player run games, and if so how to make the games run smoother or better. Thanks!

The Player 4 and 5 both use an SGX540 running at 200MHz. I have both NOVA 3 and MC3 on my Player, and it seems to me that Gameloft has definitely not optimized their Android games as well as they could (example: the 4th generation iPod Touch has a weaker SGX530 GPU and less RAM, yet MC3 runs better).
That said, I have seen people overclock the SGX540 in our Exynos 3110 to anywhere from 210-250MHz. If someone can implement this to a Player kernel, we should be able to do the same, and probably reduce some lag.
As far as Android version- from what I understand (and this may not be correct), 4.0 uses more RAM, so some games might work better on 2.3. I have also seen many reports that Gameloft's games do not work well on 4.0 (more lag and/or crashing), but they may have been updated to fix these issues.
I'm running Android 4.0. I've got an overclock to 1.2GHz. I have set the maximum number of background tasks to only allow 2. This has pretty much completely fixed any lag i've had whatsoever. Even on 2.3! I have MC3 and Nova 3 and they both run fine with the odd jitter every 10 mins but you can expect that with any device. I also bought Gangster Rio but I haven't tried that on Remics UX yet. It ran terrible last time Si used it on ICS Crumble but I didn't have the Background process limit set then so i'll get it and i'll see how it gose. But if you've got ICS Seriously, you will be amazed at what difference it makes. I just hope Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour will run as smoothly!

I highly doubt it will run at all, unless Gameloft has a version with highly toned-down graphics. NOVA 3 with all effects and graphic elements set to high is nearly unplayable (though it looks incredible), and we know MC4 is more graphically advanced than N3. Even if these Players had a better GPU, though, RAM would still be an issue, and Gameloft might even skip on a PowerVR-optimized MC4 anyways.
I am making custom kernel atm, show me an example of overclocked gpu that we have. Afaik the were tryind to do so with i9000 without success

If you look around, you'll see that just about anyone with a Tegra 3 device and a Gameloft game has the same problem. Either the Tegra 3 has a weak GPU, Gameloft fails at optimizing their games, or both.
If you set the graphics of NOVA 3 on the Player to the same level as on the N7, the game becomes unplayable, even though it has to push a much lower resolution. Tying that back in on-topic, as MC4 has more advanced graphics than NOVA 3, it is probably not going to work with the Players.

I can run Nova with no lag. The thing that was causing the problem I think was the RAM until o set it to 2 background tasks. And also SWAP file support could be another thing to work on to gives more than a 1GB or RAM.

Its not one day..its one HOUR job..the game has allready options because every game engine has video option..but with a gamelooft you have to extract option file from ogg file then change on off what you thing ..save and then recreate ogg file again..And only game that gice options is rock star ..they are only developers with brains in android world for now..and off course there is no need to recreate textures..its one command in opengl.

I can run it with no lag, too. NOVA 3 for our Players has all the graphical effects disabled, but when they are turned on, the lag is unbearable, which is what I was talking about (I'll make a video showing this). Tying that back in, since MC4 has these graphical effects by default plus a new graphics engine, either the game will not work at all (read: to laggy to play), or Gameloft will greatly downscale the graphics for us (unlikely).

Install Chainfire3d from the Market. Open it, install the driver, reboot, and it should be good to go.
However, a few warnings. Campaign will not work, at all. The only way for the game to load and be somewhat playable is to do a local WiFi multiplayer match with just yourself. I also recommend letting it sit for a minute or so after the map (pick a relatively small one) has loaded.
So no campaign? Oh well I'm completely stuck on a mission anyway ha ha.

Wow, laggy games! Why are you nagging? Buy a high-end phone!
I was wondering which phone to buy and I am currently debating between this and the SGS3. I have AT&T, but I was wondering (I am leaning very heavily on the HOX+) do Gameloft Games work with this device and are they fluid (ie at least 30 FPS)? I will primarily game on this device and I spent many hours on NFL Pro 13 before my ipod got stolen, and I need to play that game.
Anyway, long-story short, I need to know how well GL games work with the HOX+, specifically NFL Pro 13, and other games such as Angry Birds, Modern Combat, etc.

I am a proud owner of the HTC One X+ but i must say that the galaxy siii is better for gaming in general especially gameloft games. The One X+ recquires gaming boost for gameloft games as the cpu is coupled to the gpu and gameloft games don`t utilize all four cores. With gaming boost most games will run very smoothly without full effects however if you wish to mod the games to gain gsiii grade graphical effects most of the games will run around 25-60fps with gaming boost of course. The One X+ is better than the siii for emulators, running fpse with opengl at full speed without frameskip. The unfortunate truth is that the One X+ needs alot of tweaking to gain the true potential of the hardware not to mention heat and battery problems. Overall i believe that the One X+ is a better device than the gsiii due to the great matte finish and screen also THD games are a pleasure to play.
Hi, I am a n00b, this will be my first android/smartphone and I need some clarification.
"The One X+ recquires gaming boost for gameloft games as the cpu is coupled to the gpu and gameloft games don`t utilize all four cores."
What is gaming boost? Is it an app that I can find on the Play Store?
" The unfortunate truth is that the One X+ needs alot of tweaking to gain the true potential of the hardware not to mention heat and battery problems."
Could you define 'tweaking', I jailbroke my iPod touch, so is it similair to jailbreaking an ios device?
" especially if you are going to Flash a custom rom."
What is a custom rom?
Also, if someone knows how to add actual quotes it would be much appreciated.

A custom ROM is a modification tha you can do to your phone's software. The HTC one x plus comes with jelly bean 4.1 and htc sense as its default software. You can change how your phone works when you install or flash a custom ROM. ROMs vary from device to device so you have to pick the right one for your phone. ROMs can change settings, user interface, remove bloat ware, and much more.

The gpu is linked to the cpu to save battery, for example if a thd game like shadowgun is played all four cpu cores will be used and the gpu will scale up to 512mhz, however if you run a gameloft game only one or two cores are used and the gpu throttles down to 50% making the game stutter. Gaming boost optimizes the cpu governor and unlinks the gpu from the cpu. By tweaks i mean scripts, roms and kernels, all that recquire rooting. Rooting is actually much simpler than jailbreaking an ios device, just download the noobproof tool box in the development section. As far a battery life and heat, better than the original One X but a tad worse than a gsiii. This is mainly due to the bright display and HTC`s poor software but is easily fixed with the insertcoin rom which has the option to reduce autobrightness and drastically increase batterylife.

So, which ROM do you recommend? Or, is it possible to root and still have sense 4+? I really like the interface. Is there also a "How to" root page somewhere? and like jailbreaking, does rooting void the warranty?
So only thd games run smooth and others wont? Im going to buy a new phone soon and i also wanna play some games on it.

So, what I am getting at is if I want to be able to play gameloft games (Really, only NFL Pro) and other games (ie Angry Birds, Solipskier, etc) I need to root my device. What about SGS3? Can I just "pick up and play", or do I have to root as well. I have heard that rooting voids the warranty, and I kinda need the warranty just in case something happens.
However, would it be possible to show a video on what gaming is like with and without the boost. I would really appreciate it.
Lastly, which phone, HTC One X+ or Samsung Galaxy SIII is more "future-proof"?
Again, sorry for my many questions, but I am a n00b, and I need to know if I am making the right decision.

No, only gameloft games and some ea games will lag and that is only on stock, if you use gaming boost they will run almost as well as on an siii or iphone, games from other devs should all run well and emulators run better than on any other phone except maybe the new s4 pro phones however they have reduced performance due to heat throttling.

Okay, so I should try out the gameloft games first, and if they are laggy then root or upgrade to SGS3. My follow up question is that I heard that some GL games do not support HOX/HOX+, and I was wondering which games are not compatible, or did they fix that issue?
