[SOLVED] I9100 Data Partition Corruption Finally Solved - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

as we all know i9100 has a bug where data partition gets bricked and is no longer accessable sooo i made a fix after bricking my phone
1.Download the attached Data Fix .pit file And The Attached Siyah Kernel .tar File
2.Open Odin And boot ur phone in odin mode or download mode
3.Flash the Phone With siyah kernel as PDA And Data Fix.pit file as the PIT . NOTHING ELSE.
4. Reboot to siyah recovery . Wipe Data . Go in mounts and storage and mount usb storage with ur phone attached to PC . When internal memory shows on PC Format it.
5. Thats it ur phone is fixed . Now Flash a stock firmware using odin or flash a rom via recovery its upto u but dont flash with the pit file .. if u have to use a pit file always use the data fix pit file from now on the original pit file wont work on our phones now
Note: u will lose 2gb of internal storage but phone will be fixed.
ill attach the Data fix.pit file below
Only For i9100 16 gb ill make one for 32gb if someone needs

I've heard dangerous things about PIT files, I cannot format my /data partition or flash ROMS through Odin so I came here, can anyone confirm or deny if this may help. Is this even safe?

look bro try it if it dsnt work u can just flash ur original pit i myself have tried it i had the same problem its perfectly working for i9100 16gb

it actually creates a new data partition removing the previous one. it wont cause any harm to your phone that much i can assure u .
and every step is well thought so dont skip any step.

amazing
I tried everything to unbrick my friend's i9100m. This is the only thing that worked. So simple and easy to do!

Nice thread

Do you get random freezing on your device after applying this fix ?

actually yeah but its very rare I dont think its caused by my solution
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium

can you confirm ?
then only i can use it or sec rom is is good too

dude I confirm it
I made this pit file myself
the freezing is just like once in a week. then u just have to restart the phone so dont worry theres nothing wrong with the pit file the freezing is due to the corrupt data partition.

[Q] Mount Storage from CWM

Well the title pretty much says it all
I ****ed up pretty bad and i have no Roms on my SD Card
Is there any way I can mount the storage from CWM so I can copy a rom into it and flash it?
I've tried Mount USB Storage from the Mounts N Storage Menu but that doesn't seem to be doing anything
It has to work if you did that but theres always a second choice you can select the option DOWNLOAD MODE and odin and once you finish odin you can xopy the rom you want on your sd card and flash it via cwo recovery..
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Yea.. It's weird
The drives show up on my computer but I can't actually access any files
I guess I just didn't want it to come to that but oh well, downloading the TAR file now
Thanks for your advice
Edit: Guess Someone Should Close This

Odin question

I odin'ed back to stock but the internal sd did not reformat. Should I have done that myself and if so when in the process...
It worked fine but now im having random problems that I didn't have before.

I have never had Anything residual in my phone after odin'ing back to stock ever but you should:
Odin back to 2.1 JFD stock (make sure you check repartition box), if you did not check Repartition then , you can have problems
If you Really want to clean the int sd card then back up EVERYTHING on you Computer, then......... you can format the int sd card and then odin back to stock
I odn't think Odin formats the int. sd.....

It does not, but depending how different the rom you are coming from it can cause it to wipe data, but if you do not check the repartition then you in essence are just flashing over some data and not removing it which can be bad.
Like I mentioned before read up in the noob bible in the Q & A if has all the complete info you really need there

Thanks man. Personally do u think there is any benefit to reformating it? I went to bionix-trigger-biwinning-trigger. I did make sure I repartioned it.

I ve done it once in a year and that was only to try it out and to rid myself of backups I no longer wanted on the phone........
remember on any computing device when you delete the program, it usually just deletes it out of the index file. This means the data on the program is still there, but the device can now overwrite it and install new programs. Formatting just erases the actual program as well and writes a "0" in the sector instead of having data there.

Any ideas ?

Looking for a rom I can install via Odin . Needs to be a tar file but I cant seem to find one at the moment......any pointers very welcome.
Thanks
sr
You don't have custom recovery working to flash .zip?
Can flash stock firmware found on Intratech thread. Will lose root, but can flash CF-root kernel from Chainfire thread to get root again...... All with Odin.

Sorry
...quite new to all this. I have installed a rom on the sd disk but when I go to install zip from sd card can't see it !!
If its ok could you explain your method ....as Im a bit of a thicko !!
thanks
sr
Depending on what version of cwm 4 or 5 you have will make a slight difference but essentially these process.
Place the Rom zip on your internal sdcard not the removable external sdcard.
Navigate to flash .zip from internal sdcard in recovery. If you are changing versions if android or. 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 or flashing between different Roms, maybe best to factory reset, wipe.cache, and wipe dalvik (in advanced) from within recovery. Immediately flash ROM, and then reboot, give it a few minutes. You will lose your data etc, but will help to ensure you don't get boot loops or force closes etc

Thanks
...for the prompt reply, problem is I can only get rom onto the external sd card. Can't see a way of getting it onto the internal one !
Guess this looks like my evenings planned with the wife moaning at me!
sr
Boot up. Connect USB to PC and transfer the file.... If your still not sure if your putting it in the correct "sdcard", power off and remove extrenal sdcard.
You could also connect cable to PC in recovery, then "mount USB storage",. Transfer file to USB storage, "unmount", then flash from internal sdcard (look for the USB storage within).USB storage is just a sub directory of the internal sdcard.

Oh yeah, about the moaning. Know the feeling full well......... (good or bad
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Me again..
I have the phone working but the PC will not recognise and storage on the phone which means I can't update etc. Do you have any ideas of what is needed to fix this. At the moment the only thing that I can use is Odin. I did have another rom on the sd card but cant open it.
Sorry about this !!
Steve
Have you installed Samsung Kies? You need the diverts from that installed to PC. Just remember that you need to close kies before using Odin.
Edit :You have selected connect from the phone (maybe have notification on phone status bar?)
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Phew....
Managed to open another rom zip and installed, things back to normal (and before the wife gets home) !
One last question .....I install roms on the internal sd as I can never see them when installed on the external sd, guess I am missing something simple ?
Thanks for your help this afternoon
Steve

Yay, my first day of flashing roms and already ****ed up...
I whiped everything for flashing a new rom and before flashing i seen the option "partition SD card" me like a retard partitioned it whiping everyithing off the card (lol). now my phone has no ROM. SGS2 Internal Memory shrunk after rooting

Good day, really sorry if this topic has been covered before. Unfortunately i have read a 100 threads and i am not able to get an answer for my problem. Please guys do help me out.
I have a SGS2 I9100 with 16gb of internal memory. I rooted the phone and put the F1 Nexus custom rom. Everything worked fine, until i decided to Format the Internal SD card/ Memory of the phone via settings. Immediately after that my internal memory has shrunk from 16gb to 4gb. I was just shocked. Also when connected through USB it shows 4gb of memory and also say that it is a Generic Volume, instead of FAT 32.
I have done every solution -
1. Flash stock rom through ODIN, worked but memory still 4gb
2. Wiped cache, data, factory reset, fix permission, delvik cache, everything basically wiped and installed either custom or Stock rom.
3. I have used custom recovery cmw, install through zip, everything installs but memory is stuck to 4gb.
Nothing has helped so far, please do help me out as i am not able to do anything now with 4gb of memory.
I am hoping someone will look into this, also is there a reason why this would happen. I dont think i will want to root anymore.
Have you flashed a stock sammy 4.0.4 rom with the pit file? If so that may be the culprit. Some people were experiencing that problem last month. All they did was flashed an older pit file which brought back their missing storage. Unfortunately i have no link for that post but you may search for it in the threads over at the general or Q and A forum. Or if someone passes by here maybe they can give you a link to that also.

You need to flash a .pit file with Odin. But I have no idea where to get one.
You need the one for i9100, not i9100G/M/T. If you're not sure which one you have, go to settings-about phone.

I have done that

Thanks guys for the quick replies. I have not tried flashing an older .pit file...will get one and see if it works.
If anyone has any other solutions..please do let me know
dont format through windows or phone.....use a special software to format mmc.....it will be recovered.....search on google[sd card formatter]......i also had this issue with pendrive and this helped me
I have flashed with 404 with pit file, same trouble, re flashed with original ROM with a pit file found with a generic search in Google (after I've tried everything on this earth), then internal Sd came back to the original size after formatting it.

I have a formatting tool, the problem is that it is not recognized as a drive: by windows 7. So basically i cant see the drive to format it.
Neither Linux can do that, pit file will do the trick (I think) than format with the command you can give with your phone, not with the pc, lol.

Pit files are far from same for all Gs2's. Flash a wrong file and you have a very expensive paper weight. Not exactly to be messed with just like that...

I just went from 4GB to my 11.5 GB on my i9100.
The steps follow are:
Make a backup of my offical i9100 ICS ( I'm being careful !!)
Mount the storage in the clock wise mod
Delete the 4GB Partition (via disk utility on Mac)
Create another partition (via disk utility on Mac)
Restart the phone
Format the USB storage
& here you go with 11.5 Internal Storage Back !!!
Hello,
I just bought a used samsung galaxy s II on ebay. It is not rooted as the owner said. I have checked using RootChecker application and seems it is not.
version: 89100XXLQ5
kernel: 3.0.15-I9100XXXLQ5-CL753921 [email protected] #3
compilation: IMM76D.XXLQ5
And it seems it has the same problem. Only 4GB instead of 16GB. What should I do? I do not want to root it, if it wasn't before, probably it can be solved differently.
I do not own a mac to do what was suggested. SD Formatter do not see the card in win7.
Please help, if you have a clue how.
Cheers!
