Can't Boot Into Recovery - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I'm having problems booting into Recovery. I used the method here: All In One Root Recovery Installer to root and get a custom recovery on my phone. After installing CWM that was included with the package, my phone rebooted into Recovery once. I was able to wipe Cache/Dalvik. Phone has been running great with no issues except when I try to boot into Recovery it goes straight the the Android OS/Home Screen. The blue letters show up on the top left of the screen like it's going to boot into recovery but it doesn't.
I was thinking about doing two things:
1. Running the tool again and installing CWM again.
2. Downloading ROM Manager and have that install CWM.
Can I do these things without messing anything up?
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] Clockwork Recovery Problem?

I rooted my phone like 2 weeks back and in that time span i have flashed various roms and each time i go to flash a new rom i go into the clockwork app then click boot into recovery. it then boots into the normal recovery and along the bottom it says something along the lines of replacing with clockwork recovery but leaves me at the original recovery and not clockwork. I then have to reboot go into the clockwork app and then and only then does it actually take me into clockwork recovery. Is this supposed to happen or did i do something wrong?
After your phone reboots, as long as you know your phone has clockwork recovery installed. you can select the reinstall packages option from stock recovery which will take you into clock work recovery menu.
I would just try flashing the CWR recovery again, reboot into recovery afterwards, reinsall packages.... reboot.
Next time you click on the go to recovery I don't think you will go to the stock. Perhaps you deleted/moved the update file CWR needs? That's why I would flash it again, no harm in doing it, so it cant hurt.
alright ill try this but this only happens when i flash a new rom

[Q] Recovery img flashing (Stock 2.1 rom)

Hi,
Due to HTC's special touches, the recovery image doesnt stay flashed, and on normal boot its flashed over (meaning if i try to go to recovery after a normal boot, i get the red triangle stuff, and have to pull the battery). I was wondering if this would potentially cause troubles if i was trying to flash a custom ROM from recovery? in other notes, i do find sometimes i have to pull the battery 4 or 5 times to get it to normally boot (thats without holding the buttons >.>).
Thanks in advance.
HTC HERO recovery image flashing problems
I am having exactly the same problem!
I did a quite a bit of research on how to root, backup and flash my HERO and every guide I found describes the process using Universal AndRoot + Rom Manager and it seems there should be no problems. I already rooted my phone successfully, installed Rom Manager and flashed either ClockworkMod 2.5.0.1 or RA Recovery 1.7.0.1 which are able to boot but only once. The next time I reboot I get the red triangle warning and it loads into stock recovery (by pressing vol_up + powroff buttons), so the custom recovery lasts only one boot cycle. I was able to backup but I don't want to risk to wipe and flash since there is a chance it might stuck in the bootscreen loop afterwards and I won't be able to do anything.
There is a thing with s-off and SPrecovery which helps to resolve the problem but it doesn't look like there is anything for HERO.
Any help would be appreciated.
ps I tried to manually flash recovery from inside the phone and from windows command line with the same result.
forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/8182-how-to-root-your-hero
posted some similar comments over there, and the only init script that i can find when in recovery.
Yeah I posted my question there too.
I was able to find some information about the issue (he is talking about Villain ROM but I think it doesn't really matter):
pulser_g2:
Repeat the process again, as I think stock ROMs try and overwrite the recovery each time they boot. When you finish the process, immediately nandroid and flash VR12. That will then flash a new recovery, AmonRA 1.6.2a, and you will be sorted

So it looks like we should just go ahead and flash a custom rom which, in theory, will eliminate the problem.
yeah was tempted to just flash, but sending duck my system img for him to dissect anyway.
yeah worked fine, running cm6.1 now
Yeah once you root you have to flash a custom rom before reboot or u loose the root
I learnt it after lots of reboots and re roots.
but now I wanted to know if I could save the original rom which i have as nand backup to make as an update.zip like custom rom for safe keepimg
I flashed CM6.1 -based TastyFroyo 1.2 and I can confirm custom recovery stays flashed now.

GT 10.1 LTE - EH04 - Unable to install CWM Recovery

I have a rooted GT 10.1 LTE with the EH04 update. I have tried flashing via CWM which results in the obvious breakage. I have also tried installing via Recovery and Odin with the attached files and in various combinations with no luck.
Any suggestions or ideas on what I am mucking up to not be able to get CWM only my tablet?
To note: It was working prior to the EH04 update.
Bump.
Any ideas?
try the cwm here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090289
to a certain degree it is a lot of trial and error as to what parts of the various 10.1 models are common and which are distinct -- at this juncture what is to loose from flashing a different cwm?
Try this recovery ( flash zip)

Then try this rom

Its been working very well for me.

I unrooted to get the EH04 updated using this: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/7718-romleakodineg01-factory-stock-odin-image-vzw-lte-tab-101/ , waited for the EH04 update, then re-rooted using this (which I used to root initially): http://rootzwiki.com/topic/2242-root-recovery-galaxy-tab-101-lte/ .
Perhaps you should unroot per the above, take the update, then re-root as above--worked for me.
i ota'd EH04, lost root. downloaded kernel.zip, applied it, got root back, installed cwmod, clicked to reboot into recovery and it's looping since, i can't do anything but get into ODIN but the PC wont recognize it, although i get a pop up saying android.. installed, adb devices doesn't pick up either. can't get into recovery.

someone warned in the forums and i didn't read it before i did it, used odin to put recovery.zip, now i'm back in action.
The recovery you provided is the same that I attached. What I discovered however is that if I booted into recovery right after installing the CWM recovery, CWM would load. If I booted into stock EH04 then back into recovery, the stock recovery would load. It seems as if the ROM was restoring stock recovery when it loaded. After installing Lightspeed, CWM recovery stayed in place.
Either way, thank you for the assistance. I hope this thread ends up helping someone else.
My steps to install Lightspeed from Stock ROM EH04:
1. reboot recovery, install either recovery.zips above.
2. When the system automatically reboots, hold volume up to boot into recovery again. This time it should be CWM.
3. Wipe cache and factory reset
4. Install Lightspeed ROM

Thank you. Everytime I tried flashing cwm recovery, I would always end up back at stock recovery. Your fix worked perfect.

[Q] Trouble Flashing CWM Recovery [YP-G70]

Hey guys -
I'm having trouble getting CWM Recovery to work with my YP-G70. I've rooted, installed ROM Manager, wiped data and partitions, installed Odin, Used Odin to (supposedly) flash the DD_01142012.tar recovery to the device. Everything looks successful, but when booting back up ROM manager only gives me the option to go to "recovery setup" instead of the normal flash option. Even when I reboot it in recovery, it just goes to the standard android recovery screen. Any ideas on how to fix this? It may be painfully obvious, this is my first root.

Rom Manager does not work for this device ( I think ) and you should not use it. "DD_01142012.tar" is not just a recovery, it's the kernel too. They are integrated. Flash it again and hold power and vol-up during boot up to get to recovery then flash your rom...

Recovery Flash Gone Wrong

I was trying to switch my phone over to CWM from TWRP. I tried flashing using ROM manager but it was always rewritten. I decided to grab the .img file from the CWM site and flash it in terminal emulator like I had done with TWRP before. It seemed to flash but when i rebooted I got the message that the system software was not authorized. I thought the file I downloaded was loki but I guess not. Do I have to odin back to stock now or is there another method?
So I just realized it was being stupid and was stuck trying to boot recovery. I booted to download mode and selected cancel to force it out of this loop. Once it did this I was able to boot the system and restore a proper recovery.
On a side note, does anyone know why flashing CWM doesn't stick. I read some things about the recovery being flashed every boot but all the information was out dated, I couldn't find anything about the S4.

ROM manager does work...try flashing then reboot at least once before booting recovery...and if you are running a stock tw rom some will attemt to overwrite custom recovery...in newer cwm it will ask you if you want to disable recovery install...clicking yes will stop the process keeping custom cwm
