HI!
I own a Sony Xperia tablet z and wanting to use the video and/or pics I royally messed up my son's pictures and videos at his Marathon finishing line. When I saw him arriving, I went back to my tablet but the screen had gone to sleep. By the time I revived the camera, he had already crossed the finishing line.
Why is this happening, how can I correct the situation so that I do not mess it up again?

This isn't the Xperia Tablet Z section, but the Z Ultra section. I do however see how you could make a mistake like this Here's the Tablet Z section.

hi guys, what do ye recommend? The mini or the neo or the ray? im a fan of the smaller size like the mini, really like the size of the phone, but seems that the camera on the neo and ray is a lot better, and camera is very important to me.
which one would you recommend? the amount of megapixel doesnt bother me but the picture quality, yes
any advice?
They have same hardware, only difference is about screen size and camera. U must decide what is more important to you, if you want better camera take the neo and if size is more imprtant then you will take mini we can't help you to decide what u need more.
if you just want android and basic apps, go for mini. if you want to play HD games, go for neo
thanks for the replys, so i was going for the neo, went to the shop to buy it and turns out the neo as reached end of the line, so was going for the ray, well the ray as been recalled, so finally mini it was.

dont know much, only that when i asked for the ray the guy on the shop said they didnt have any, the ones they sold, customers came back with problems and sony recall them back including the ones from other carphones warehouse.
does NFS hot pursuit can be play normally in xperia ray..? i mean,in my x8,the on-screen button is not located properly. i have to touch somewhere else so the onscreen button to detect the touch. example, i need to touch somewhere above the garage icon to enter the garage.
so...does the on-screen button works perfectly on xperia ray..?

These things are affected by the way the developer targets the screen resolution. Your X8 has a 320x480 resolution, standard until a couple of years ago but quite uncommon today and not usually targeted by developers of high-spec games. Consequently they sometimes don't optimise or even test for lower or unusual resolutions.
The Ray has an 854x480 display, a resolution that is already pretty common and becoming increasingly so, and I'm pretty sure that a 'big' title like NFS will have been optimised for all common resolutions so you shouldn't have any problem. Indeed, there are plenty of videos on You Tube showing it running on Play & Arc etc. which have the same resolution.
This link has more on the need to consider differing aspect ratios when developing on Android:

Well of course it is! Awesome phone! And you should ask what to buy and stuff in the device suggestion thread
I've been holding out for the Nexus 4 but I have to admit that the Xperia Z has my attention. I think the splash proof feature is great but taking off the charging port cover every time it needs charging (at least once a day possibly more) would be a real pain. If only they included wireless charging then I would have been sold. If I do get the Xperia Z then I'll probably permanently remove the cover for the charging port and thus lose the splashproof aspect. Luckily the Xperia Z has a lot more going for it. The other reason that I might be apprehensive of the Xperia Z is possibly slow Android OS updates.

don`t worry if you are a even a barely proficient rom flasher (like me ) sony makes it very easy for you to unlock the bootloader with official support It literally took me less than 10 minute to unlock the bootloader and install cm10 plus kernel.
i think this Xperia Z was the best phone from sony...but more interested with Galaxy Note II GT-N7100

I know that custom ROMs make a number of enhancements and improvements over stock but I'm actually really keen on using a phone that is just totally stock (or as close to it as possible).
Plus, I've always found custom ROMs to be more unstable than an official ROM specifically for that phone. I've never tried CM ROMs (mainly been using the Resurrection Remix ROM for SGS2).

when the xperia z come out you should try stock based roms, these only takes a week or two become stable with very minimal changes and because the xperia z has jellybean it should be a smooth experience. And besides I heard sony will be upgrading the z and zl to jb 4.2 shortly after its release

Sure, I appreciate that but Sony would shoot itself in the foot if it hadn't announced a quick 4.2 update after release as it would really hamper sales. I doubt they'll be so timely when the phone is 6 to 12 months old and their attention is focused on a new flag ship phone.
Similar story with the Samsung S2 and S3. S3 gets the JB update very quickly after release but S2 still hasn't gotten JB even though JB was released about 14 months after it's initial release.
I'm really hoping that the N4 will continue to receive updates until it is hardware cannot keep up with the Android OS (which will hopefully be at least 2 years).
Hi
I've just purchased a Sony Xperia Z (second hand). I've run the root programme from Kingo (only via PC worked, not via Android itself).
I've got Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) and want to upgrade to the latest one as this version is precluding me from having a couple of apps that I want and have on my other phone.
Can someone please help me?!
Thanks!!
Hi, I need to sign for a new contract and I can get for one euro the xperia go.
I had a pretty bad experience with xperia phones, since I had an xperia ray, which was extremely slow and in general the software was pretty bad. I have read some reviews of the Xperia Go and they are at best mild, also when they were written the xperia go had gingerbread on.
So my questions basically is how is the performance of the Xperia Go on ICS? Would you advise to get one?
e.g. something I found infuriating on my ray was the music app. Everytime I was adding music on the SD card it would stuck for long scanning the library...
it's good... even better with cyanogenmod installed.
hey! Looking to buy the S Tablet in the next few days but I am not seeing a lot of DEV for it. Are there any ROMS for it and is there a standard root process for it? The tablet looks pretty nice but I wanna make sure I can do the things I have done with previous tablets
i don't think anyone would advice you to buy tablet s right now not even the xperia tablet s, probably not the xperia tablet z either.
Their lot issues atm, and sony is awfully silent.
nope.. we don't have any rom.. only Root on ICS.. and some minor tweaks!

shutdown issues especialy and the fact that sony is slacking a lot on jelly bean for this tablet.
the tablet s is not even known if it will get it, the xperia tablet s would get in february theor not any news yet.
Been promised some tough by sony community manager and some one from belgium.
thanks for your help! I decided on the ASUS TF300t. I has the quadcore 1.2. I do like the size and shape of the sony more but figured i would go with something that, right now, appears to have a little more time with the DEV's.
thanks for your help though

Probably should have waited for the Xperia Tablet Z...that one's developed by the Sony Mobile team (as opposed to the VAIO team that developed the Tablet S) and thus will have infinitely better support (Sony Mobile is really good with that stuff). And it's just a sweet tablet.

Personaly would gone for google nexus.
xperia z i really would't take anything atm from sony with current attitude they are having.
With asus you just have to be 100% sure you have no issues at all aka make sure you have no stuck dead pixels or just return it their quality control can be verry bad.
Hi everyone, I'm considering picking up this bad boy - however I have a few questions that I couldn't find answers to when casually perusing this forum.
1. I intend to use this as a tablet/secondary device - does this phone give annoying nag notifications or even remove key features like the addressbook if you use it w/o a sim? My old Xperia SL did this and I want to make sure this won't hinder usage as a tablet.
2. Are either the Sony or GPE editions of the Z Ultra completely bug free? My old Xperia SL developed quite a few bugs after a few updates which was annoying.
Just FYI, I'm considering either the Z Ultra or an 8in Windows 8 tablet like the Asus Note 8. I currently have an iPad Mini, but the wife has been using my iPad more and more instead of her (bulkier) Acer A500. I figure the Asus Note 8 or the Xperia Z Ultra are good devices that are different enough from the iPad to still be fun. Anyone that owns a small Windows 8 tablet and the Xperia Z Ultra please do list some pros/cons of either device.
1. I have no idea since I, and pretty much all the other ones around here use it as a phone, but I can't see why you can't just kick it permanently into Airplane Mode? That should shut it up (in theory)?
2.Pretty much yes. The few bugs that it does have aren't any serious ones. If you can choose which version to get, then get the Xperia version and not the GPe one. You'll have far more choices regarding ROM flashing and stuff like that down the road. You can flash the GPe build on the Xperia model, but you can't flash the Xperia ROM on the GPe model (yet), so keep that in mind. You're at XDA after all, so i'm guessing that you do want to fiddle with it down the road.
1. In the old firmware it did bug you and shutdown, I didn't look too hard at an solution, just flashed a custom ROM.

Exactly.
There are issues with this phone
No flash so camera sucks.
screen does not turn off reliably during phone call. It is still a phone, a big one though and after a while of direct calls, you feel the heat.
Phone call volumes are bad.very bad.
screen is very reflective. badly need an antiglare.
I rarely use the write on screen feature, so it gives me lots of unwanted touches.
sim tray is extremely flimsy; silly design. Easy to break, loose.
and then some more.
I sometimes use it without sim and it doesnt cause issues. Just reboots when you remove/add a sim.
All said, this is still a very good phone. considering that i have used a Nexus 4 for quite a while, its better in features.
and great for reading/browsing if you can bear the glare.

Thanks it sounds a lot like most of the bugs/issues are related to its phone features. As for the camera, no tablet has a flash as far as I know. All in all, it looks like this would make a great mini tablet and spare phone if I ever need one.
