Disable Veteran needs a little help/info.. - Samsung Galaxy Mega

Im a Disable Combat Veteran OIF/OEF, with realy nothing to do at home but take my meds and break phones, Im waitting for the mail man to bring my new i9205. Im was wondering since all that new flashing stuff like Roms and Modems ect. Is theirs a way I can Mod my phone to enable LTE bands 700/1700? Im currently using a Note2 with a broken screen, and Im constantly flashing Roms and themes ect on it. Devs have been able to Mod att units to work on Tmobile ect. Like enabling Aws to use TMobiles bands for wifi calling, so my question is... Is theirs a way I can enable those LTE bands 709/1700 in my new i9205? Whats does csc and ril files means? Can I just flash modems and kernels and make it work? I really lost in the sauce!!! The only thing im really good at is my job in the USMC 0311.. Can anyone guide me through this? Thank you guys...

Can the ROMs that don't say whether they are GSM or CDMA be used for either one?

My question is, I see the CDMA ONLY rom section but there is only 1 ROM in there. I can't get my sound or notifications to work so I have to try another one or stick with the stock ROM. I need sound and notifications or I will not hear when my stuff arrives and like yesterday, I missed a lot.
Can any of the ROMs that don't say whether they are for GSM ONLY? Or can I not use a single ROM in the Raphael ROM development section? If my question is confusing let me know. I have the sprint HTC Touch Pro(CDMA), and I would like to try one of these ROMs that don't say GSM only... Some of the ROMS don't designate which one they will only work on.
I don't wanna brick my phone so any help would be greatly appreciated... Maybe everyone should designate if it's CDMA, GSM, or both so that no one bricks their phone just for that reason.
Thanks for the help and I appreciate all the work. If I find a ROM that i'll use... I will definitely donate.
Dan
Unless they specifically say they are CDMA, assume they are GSM. There isn't a ROM that can work on both tmk.

Yea, most here are GSM, I suggest you check out PPC Geeks, they are mostly CDMA and have quite a few ROM's over there. Thats the best advice I can give you!
Thanks very very much for your answers guys. I absolutely love djbeames CDMA Rom but I just need the sounds and notifications. I beleive he is having progress. I like ya'lls work and responses as I've said, i've been using this site for over a year now. I may check out ppc-geeks but ultimately my final ROM choice will be from XDA.
Sorry if I posted a thread with an already answered question. I always use the search function and this is propbably my first thread since i've started using this site over a year ago.
I've read a lot but there's more and more and more. I plan to read it all but I just didn't have time to look through a bunch of pages or text to find an answer that I couldn't find in the search function. Thought it would be ok if I just made a quick thread asking. Next time I'll probably PM one of you guys.
Thanks for the responses, later guys.

I know you said that you really like xda (I don't blame you) but i have to +1 that ppc geeks recommendation. It seems like they are pretty much the opposite of what you find here in that the majority of their work is for cdma rather than gsm.

Newbie to flashing - Best ROM for Sprint TouchPro

Howdy Folks,
First, I apologize up front about being such a newbie to flashing phones.
I've been reading through numerous forum threads and was just wondering if someone could point me to one of the best ROMs that I should use? I saw a number of them @ ppcgeeks and on here, including Vetvito's, RSTG, etc....but I wasn't sure which one I should use; there's just too many for me to choose! ;-)
Thank-You very much for any tips, I really appreciate the help!

It is really up to personal preference. If you are looking for speed, I would go for the NRGZ roms (at PPCGeeks). I used to use his stuff in my Raphael and they are blazing fast and stable (comes with the price of extended battery drain though).
MightyRom is also a good choice as well. After that, I returned my wife's TP, so I have not had a chance to play with Vevitto's stuff.
One last one, NFSFan... his roms for the Vogue are fantastic, so you may want to take those for a spin as well.
Like I said, ultimately, it is up to you...
Happy Flashing
Thanks for the tips! I guess I'll just have to try a few and see what I like!
One question that I just thought of.... Are there any that have 'good' battery life? I notice the mention of NRGZ being a little rough on the battery; I travel for work, so I don't believe I could handle anything that hits the battery any harder than the stock ROM. LOL
NFSFAN's latest TP ROM update is by far the best out there.

Thanks, You guys are awesome!
Sorry if this question sounds completely stupid (I'm very computer literate, but not very phone literate): I've been wondering about this - I keep seeing the term "unlocked"; does that mean that once this phone is unlocked that I could use the phone on another carrier (if I have a contract with them of course)? For instance, this is a Sprint HTC Touch Pro, and I have a contract with both Sprint (for this phone) and ATT for another phone (that I really don't like); would it actually be possible to use this Touch Pro with my ATT contract?

no, when you bought your sprint touch pro it was locked..you have to unlock it in order to flash your phone.

Actually, you will not be able to use this device for any GSM carrier (GSM meaning any carrier that uses a SIM card in the phone for it to get service). Sprint is a CDMA network, which means that you will only be able to flash it to another carrier by doing two things: unlocking the device to be able to install carrier specific files (PRL and such) and asking your prospective carrier to put your device's ESN into their database and adding it to your account (linking your MIN and MDS numbers to the phone's ESN).
Unlocking for a GSM device works slightly easier. If you SIM-unlock the device, you can change it from carrier to carrier without even having to tell them that you are using a different device.
On the same note, if you do not unlock the device and try to flash a rom, your will semi-brick the device. And if you flash a rom not intended for that device altogether, you will fully brick it.
Hope this helps.
Thanks to all for the replies! I've successfully updated the ROM on my phone and it looks and runs great! Having a slight problem though, it will no longer connect up with my system (VirtualBox/WinXP Guest). Was working fine before the update, so I'll play around with it and see if I can figure out what has changed.
Thanks again guys, I definitely appreciate it.

[Q] Just bought a Motorola Atrix 4G, however...

Hi guys,
I just bought a Motorola Atrix 4G from Ebay. However I was wondering, what ROM should I use, since I live in the Netherlands?
I already noticed a few roms here, however, since I live in the Netherlands, I want to know which one I should use for the best performance within my country.
Can someone please advice me?
Thank you very much.

Sorry I forgot to mention it's the cell phone from AT&T carrier. I already know where to unluck it, thanks to this forum!
I am really sorry if this is a dumb question, but I couldn't find anything on it on the forums for Dutch people. :S
You're welcome.

I apologize for Shaydar. That is an incredibly rude comment to make for absolutely no reason.
Make sure the ROMs are compatible with your network. I know that Canadian users were warned to avoid using certain ROMs at first.
However, I no longer own an Atrix, so you might need to some more research on the subject.

No problem, luckily there are some more decent folk around here. Oh well, I guess on every forum their are a few a..........
I never heard of a provider blocking a ROMs overhere in the Netherlands. But then again we are allowed a lot of stuff overhere, legalised soft drugs, red light district and so on. So I doubt it will going to block a custom ROM, but of course you never know.
So the ROMs, depending they aren't blocked, do work without problems with other countries, right? As a matter of fact, it doesn't matter what or who's ROM it is, the ROM itself doesn't provide the connection (phone/data/gps). Right?
Sorry if I misunderstood. Oh well; even if someone said it wouldn't work, it doesn't matter that much anymore, since the phone will arrive here within 2 days.
By the way, you returned the Atrix 4G? Didn't you like the phone or was there another reason?
I believe Canadian Atrix users have to use certain ROMs due to hardware compatibility. I'm no expert in Canadian Atrii but they've been waiting until very recently for an SPL that's compatible with their phones so I assume it's either compatibility between the ROM and the phone hardware (bootloader maybe?) or between the ROM and the network.
Sorry if I sounded rude.
All roms are just original firmware with skin and some mods.
Guess the guy sold his cell cause the bootloader was locked and some things like the real 4G, 1080p recording, and gingerbread are not yet available for the phone.
I am from france and all the roms avaible on this forum worked fine.
Got a preference for GreyBlur.
Enjoy your Atrix when you got it.
Mine cost me 425€ all costs in.

Okay thanks. After doing some researching I will be going to use the GladiAtrix2v4.2.3 (not themed) version.
Let's hope I manage to get it working properly.
On a sidenote; my phone didn't arrive yet.
One thing: don't be surprised when you don't see the earphones in the package.
At&T just don't provide them.... But there's a HDMI wire.... Weird choice...
And plug your phone to the wall-charger if it doesen't seem to boot.

Ah okay... I don't care much about earphones, though other people might. But thanks for the information.
Also thanks for the extra pointer regarding the wall-charger.
Darn... I also wanted to order the Motorola vehicle dock including rapid charger, but it seems they don't have that overhere yet or in my neighbouring countries. :S
Cleaned the thread, back on topic.
Simple question; is there a way to disable those annoying messages about updates?
I rooted and installed gladiatrix and it has been working perfectly since then. However I am not getting messages about installing an update (4.1.83.en.US).
I select "Install later" every time, however after 3 hours it's back and it's getting annoying. Or is the update safe to use on a rooted gladiatrix phone? If not, how can I disable these messages completely?

I usually don't reply to these types of threads, this time I just couldn't resist.
"I see there are threads about flashing evo's to Metro PCS but i was wondering if they are all work the same for EVO 3D" Simple question, are they the same phone? no. Search, read, comprehend, learn. Root is required to do many things such as flashing to another carrier. If you don't know this then I really don't think you should be flashing anything in the first place. You are the type that will fry their phone due to ignorance and laziness and then try and get Sprint to give you a new one or come on here complaining.
"I want an step by step instruction on how to flash it to Metro PCS with everything working "
You start with "I want" and then end with a smiley like that makes everything ok. Seriously, if you want, do it yourself. Plenty of people on here, myself included, are willing to help. I can't think of one of them, myself included, that enjoys being commanded into what one individual wants.
To sum it up, no you can't. While you're waiting though, may I suggest some light reading.

welcome to the waiting game.
i check these forums every day waiting for permanent root so I can try tinkering with it.
once we have permanent root I can buy an Evo 3D and my first steps will be to test out all the qpst and epst settings from the Evo to see if they work and keep trying different things until I get it working or (more likely) someone on here will.
once there is root i will approach the guy who did the best job getting all the features working on the Evo 4G on MetroPCS (bloodykiller86 i think is his screen name) but until we have permanent root = no dice.
so welcome. wait and be patient.

WTF???? seriously dude....i messed up my first evo when i was trying to flash it boost mobile, i went and bought another one and i was more careful next time till i finally got it working 100%
why do u care if he goes and asks sprint for another phone???
is the money coming out of your pocket??? we are all trying to learn here man. yes we are all ignorant when we dont know something but thats why we try so we can learn. not to get some1 who is a senior member of a forum to call us a bunch of names....u r a developer??? well nice im happy for you, i wish i was as smart as you....but you dont have to be a smart ass to people.
i seriously hate when some1 asks something and some1 who knows the answer starts been a smart ass.....anyways YES you can flash the evo 3d to metro pcs, but talk and text only. i tried entering the profiles in qpst but it didnt work, i tried changin the ppp and mip settings but it didnt work. the settings stick which means you dont need root to change all the profile usernames n pass.
like i said in my regular evo i didnt even need root and the phone would get text/talk and web just by changing the mip n ppp settings. from what i know metro doesnt use proxies anymore......but anyways if you need help with talk n text let me know i can probably help you
you should buy cdma ws.... so you dont have to mess with all those methods to get msl code, with WS all u do is hit read n ur done, its worth the 99 bucks

In a way, yes. As any company finds it less profitable to do things a certain way, they end up reducing perks and/or raising prices.

I don't believe anywhere in my previous post did I call anyone any names, I don't do that. I am not a developer, there are far smarter people on here than me. What I do though is try and learn as much about this stuff as I can so I can help myself and others. If I do have a question, I ask, but is not without extensive searching on the matter first. In many cases just reading the stickies will answer most question people might have.
My tone may have been a bit harsh (I had had about a 12 pack and I'm attempting to quit smoking so that will do it). I still stand be my previous post though, search, read, comprehend, learn. If you still can't find your answer, then by all means ask, don't demand.
You can flash without root if u have the correct parameters, i have mine flashed onto reliance cdma in India and it works very well and root isnt required

Hi Charan,
Do you have any site or any details on how to flash Evo 3d to Reliance CDMA since i am planning to get one. Also does the phone is required to have a clean ESN?
Apart from these i have never used CDMA in India. Can you tell me if Reliance has good internet plans for CDMA?
your help is highly appreciated
Thanks,
Hitesh
Just use the methods for ALL other HTC ANDROID phones to metro/cricket.. Thereis nothing that needs to be done that NEEDS root just get the metro info (your mobile number AND MSID) and have metro add the esn on their network. The esn does NOT need to be clean either that ONLY matters on sprint networks... After u get the info needed ##data# and put the info in. This w ill give u voice/data/sms. Mms may work the same as well (apn backup and restore) and delete the old apns and add a proper one.

I already have a metropcs number and I have the MSID and all those numbers saved from when I put my OG Evo 4G on metro. I also have BloodyKiller86's conditioning guide for the OG Evo. you think following those instructions I could get the Evo 3D working after I add the ESN to their database?
lastly, do you think the APN I used back then for the OG Evo would work on the Evo 3D as well?
can someone please post a guide on how to flash to metro???
Go in the Evo 4G forums here and search for "metropcs conditioning guide" by bloodykiller86. You still need someone to add the esn to metro's database first, no way around it.

EDIT: by the way, until now there is no way (that I know of) to get MMS to work...however, if both people have Evo 3D, TwinPic does send 2D and 3D images over internet so it works just fine over MetroPCS' network. that's how my wife and I share images right now.

1) the LTE has 4 soft buttons in the front (like the infuse).. whereas the original has a hard button in the front. which means "Base rom" would be different, no?
2) I don't this is a big problem but ill ask any ways... All current roms are made for 4G so will that mean that the phone will only work on 4g, assuming the button problem is resolved?
If there is another thread that will answer this please let me know and ill remove this thread. I just could find anything. I clicked search thread, but only threads regarding random discussion about the lte version pop up.
Lol the LTE model hasn't been released yet... Sooooo yeah.

Rogers Samsung Galaxy S 2 lte
The Snapdragon processor will mean a delay on any custom ROM cooking until it is released. I pre ordered but feel confident it will get a lot of the ROM' s and kernels from G S 2 HSPA+ i9000.
What is the device name for the LTE? ~model. Number
