Greenify? - HTC Rezound

Anyone tried out Greenify on the Rezound? Running stock rooted w/ latest OTA and just installed it. Not greenify'ing a ton of apps. Mainly facebook, some weather apps, and a few others that wake the device semi-frequently. Leaving gmail/hangouts/google+/gvoice running. So far it almost seems like battery is draining faster but betterbatterystats doesn't show greenify as a drain(or the apps I've hibernated). Curious if others have tried it out and their experience.

I'm using it and see an ok difference. Nothing crazy though, granted I'm not a super power-hungry user either, just standard use throughout the day at work etc. My greenified apps are: airdroid; maps; pandora; facebook
I feel those are enough and nothing else is really necessary imo. I'm sure it has an effect just depends on what you use and how often you use it.

I'm using it (on CM 10.1) but I have noticed a difference. Its not huge, but there definitely is one (I've been watching my battery statistics). I'd definitely recommend installing it when you get to that inevitable point where you can actually feel your phone slowing down. A friend of mine put it on his GS3, and the improvement was notable. It's one of those apps that you wish came with the OS. Whether you feel that you need it or not, it doesn't hurt.

For me, it's that warm fuzzy feeling knowing those apps aren't running 24x7. I personally haven't noticed a difference but again, peace of mind. I do like the widget for it but I've only been able to get it to work on 4.2.X and I'm back on EclipticRez and 4.0.3

i use it on my HTC incredible 4g and it works great. on average about 10% more battery life on a super aggressive setup

Built-in Battery Use menu a bit lacking?

I've been using all kinds of TeamWhiskey ROMs for a while now, as well as a few other Eclair ones a long time ago, and the built-in battery use monitor (the one in the settings menu) only shows Display, WiFi, System, and Cell idle. I remember actual apps being displayed there; what happened to that? I know there are other apps to do this (in fact I have one), but since this one is running all the time anyways, why not make it work? Anyone know a fix?

thanks for a good question; i was wondering why as well.. im guessing it has something to do with how froyo handles system processes and other apps and such. but it's still not clear why it would only show just a few random internal processes. anyone?
I actually use "system panel" this will graph usage and a lot more. So if you are want to play battery techie, this is useful. Frankly, I have not had any problem with batter usage since the Froyo roms came out in Dec.
hi all,
yeah I've noticed the same thing. I'm currently on stock 2.2 and don't know why the battery use monitor isn't giving us any info about 3rd party apps. just system processes.
Even playing Angry birds or Gun Bros for an hour a piece with battery draining 15-20% still doesn't make it to the list.
very strange, I've also made a note of it on the T-mobile forums under 2.2 bugs.
Thanks oka for recommending "system panel" does it really provide a good amount of info?

Yeah, it does. That's what I use if I really need to figure out what's killing my battery.

Which ROM are you currently running? Which have you tried?

Just a thread to see what the majority of people are choosing to run right now and which you have tested as well. This is NOT intended to be any type of a bashing thread, just please stick to what you've tested and what you've chosen to currently use.
As for myself, I'm running UnNamed from gtg and have been for a bit now. I've removed a few additional pieces of software that I didn't want and modified the battery icon but other than that, it's pretty much as is.
I've tested and have a backup of CM 7 and I'm planning to test Cognition next...
I am running UnNamed, I had a circle battery mod, but flashed the full update and have stuck with it as-is. I ran Cognition with no issues or complaints, but wanted the extended power menu.

I'm running Cognition as of yesterday. For a few days before that I was running a stock + root ROM.
I must say, my battery lasts sooooooo much longer since installing Cognition compared to Stock. I just now hit 90% and it's been off the charger (getting regular use: some idle, some web browsing, some pp installs) for about 6 hours now.
I love it.

I'm on Cognition and haven't tried others, yet. It works and as ROMs have appeared, I've pulled what I wanted from them. I get great battery life (3 hours of display time, but lately it's been increasing - yesterday I got 4 and today I'm on pace for over 5 hours of display ). I'm really interested in CM7. I hadn't tried it yet because I'm not convinced that it's bug free (which is important for me). What did you think of it?
I'm getting such poor battery life still, even after rooting and removing data hogs (AP Mobile, etc.), running BBS and CPUSpy to monitor, and turning off unnecessary sync. I'm thinking about moving to Cognition, but I kinda like Touchwiz's interface and the safety of running stock.

I liked CM7. I probably didn't give it enough time to make an accurate assessment of it as I liked the idea of trying UnNamed simply because I like the stock build as it is... minus the garbage bloatware and wanted the extended power menu. I'd highly recommend giving CM7 a shot though. I simply get each rom running and then do a full nandroid backup in case I want to go back in the future - barring any major improvements of course in which case I'll start out fresh.

I have to say that I was never much of a believer in Juice Defender but between running that program and doing a battery calibration with the app, BatteryCalibration, my battery life has increased quite a bit. I've still got Gmail auto syncing but I have turned off 'Back up my data' in Privacy and keep GPS off until I need it. Everything else is running as is. Oh and no Facebook or Words with Friends. I login to Facebook via Dolphin HD when I have to check it on the go.
Running UnNamed 1.0.3 and really like it. Clean, snappy and excellent battery life (yes, better than stock rom).

+1 for UnNamed.... love that rom!
Ive been on cog beta 4 for a while and it is perfect. Picked up DD exp kernal a few days ago and its still perfect. Perfect combo i guess. Battery life is amazing. After 15 hour days i am always getting 4 hours of screen on time along with playing music thoughout the day and few calls and messages data and sync always on.
I have yet to have any problems and gonna make this my offical "go back to, stable rom" when others start to drive me nuts. I would like to just stay on this rom and call it good cause its perfect but that never happens.

Wow.... That sounds impressive. I may need to give that rom a whir then.

please help me. How to find laggy performance culprite?

had wifes TB on CleanRom 1.0 and it was great till it wasn't. friend told me to try skyraider (Bamf) a try since he had great experience with it running smooth and snappy. I have had it set up with skyraider now for about 6 hours and it is LAGGGGY! I'm using cpu spy and gsam battery. I haven't ever used betterbatstats but I know a lot of people use it.
What are some first steps I should take to figuring out what is the culprate to causing this lag?
Clear some cache? I did a battery pull. I dont see anything Seriously abnormal in cpu or gsam. Help walk me through a couple steps please!
Different phones run different ROMS differently, even if its technically the same phone.
I'd suggest trying other kernels.

Emo lean kernel works amazing on that rom. And also system panel is amazing for finding what's using tons of resources as well as battery. You can set it to do stats for a couple days or even a week to see what is holding up your device

Get rid of apps that aren't commonly used. I clean out my phone and SD card every month or so from all of the apps/games I try out. IME monitor and battery saver apps do far more harm than good. I also noticed that Facebook is causing all sorts of problems for data connection and performance on all my family's phones (2 TBs, 2 bionics, and a SSGS).
IMO, CM7 is the best daily driver TB has seen. I ran it for almost a year with no issues. Its not flashy or new but its super stable on our TBs.

[Q] Battery drain?!

Hello everyone
I'm experiencing some problems with my battery being drained rather fast. I'm running one of the latest CM nightlies but my phone is empty after only 11 hours.
I've attached graphs made with Better Battery Stat to this post. My usage to was: The phone didn't leave my house and i didn't use the audio. I used it from time to time to play a game (BounceBall) read a bit on the internet (Chrome) or Reddit (Reddit News).
Despite never moving my phone Google Maps/NetworkLocations seem to be run pretty frequent. How can i disable this? And is there anything else that mgiht be wrong with my phone causing a battery drain?
Thanks in advance
Note maps qnd location services. Disable them and you'll be fine.

Open maps and untick the location options.

i'd strongly recommend also to use Juice Defender in agressive mode on. With that, your data connection will be enabled every 30min instead of being always on in the background... this saves me a lot of battery as well.
I have upgraded from ICS stock to JB stock and now my battery lasts much less than before. I am considering donwgrading to ICS 4.0.3
Hope it helps.
I'd strongly recommend you don't use Juice Defender. At all. Ever. That app (and similar apps) was designed to hoover money from n00bs who don't know better.

it's a free app, and I've tested with and without, and for me it makes a huge difference. if you never tried before, you should before saying it doesn't work... it's only 3mb and runs only 1 service on the background (around 6mb).
I did try it back when I was using a black wallpaper so I would get better battery life, on GB!
Trust us, you wont save any juice with any of those apps.

JuiceDefender does nothing you can't do yourself, and you'll pay a drain penalty for the (false) 'convenience'.
Prey is as good as it gets so far as those apps are concerned.
Lol, when you start looking into a device you're thinking about getting, when you're new to all of this, you only get the "battery life" part, hence you become obsessed with it.
The crazy thing is that you don't even know how your device behaves until you actually use it without all these apps, but you don't know that, so the first thing you get from play store, it's a juice saver app.
I should know, been there done that.
Sent from the little guy
Unless you read the advice of people who know from experience that these things use more juice than they save before you get your phone (Which is what I did for over a month before I got mine).
I didn't read any of that until I had already bought green power and weren't even using it.
Cool leaf logo tho.

Use greenify (it's a free app) to freeze apps which usually run in your background, like your maps for example. Check out for a better description of the app in play store

Complete Guide to Improving Battery Life

The G2 has a fantastic battery already, why not make it even better?
I like to see how far I can push this phone's battery. In no way does that mean that you need too as well, but for those of you that do want a few more hours or another day, I'm happy to share what I've learned.
After I've spent time learning the quirks of this phone, and most of its respective ROMs, I've come up with quite a few tricks for improving battery life, some specific to this phone, some just in android general. I now get average 3-4 days battery life, when I use the phone quite often during the day all day long.
It is your personal preference on how much of android's background services that you use compared to apps. This is only suggestions for the users that want to improve battery life.
Heres some of the simplest questions you can ask yourself when you go through the settings center:
Do I really need this feature enabled? Do I use it often? Even if I do occasionaly use it, is it that much of a pain to just turn on when I need it?
Do I really need GPS on 24/7? How often do I really use GPS?
How many apps do I need running in the background?
Do I need to keep autobright on, or keep the screen super bright?
That being said, here are some of the simple things that Ive done.
I keep everything off unless I use it every day.
I keep GPS off 24/7, I never use it.
Out of habit, I always close all apps.
I keep autobright off and keep the screen on 14 brightness. Unless Im right outside in the sun its easy to see, and if I am I can just turn it up with the quick setting.
Some of the more advanced stuff I do, that completely varies on your ROM:
Go through all the system apps and freeze anything you dont use. Example being the Picasa uploader (for me at least).
Leave as little system services running as you need. You wouldent believe how many unneeded services android runs. On the stock roms there are TWO location daemons running.
Currently Im using CleanROM, I switch between it and Cyanogen about once a week, just cant make up my mind on stability v. features, but on CleanROM, some of the stuff I have currently froze
Nearly anything involving Verizon, the carrier APKs are massive bloatware.
I disabled a lot of google services, some people may rely on these, personally I dont, the biggest two google apps I use are chrome and Gmail.
If your on a stock based ROM, disable the LG services you dont use. Textlink wastes a huge amount of power, as does QSlide.
(This applies alot more to carrier based roms than it does Cyanogen/AOSP, but even they do have a few unneccesary servcices.) Be careful when you are touching system services, if you dont know what one does, a google on its function is helpful.
Use a different launcher. Excluding the stock google launcher, most factory launchers are very inefficient, LG Home is no exception. Personally, I use SmartLauncher, a very light and very nice looking launcher with a fantastic layout. Nova I know is very light on resources aswell.
The more widgets you have cluttering your screen, the more power they will waste.
I can personally confirm myself that Kitkat based roms have incredible battery life after they settle in for a few days, the kernel level improvements brought with KitKat are very noticable. Currently Gummy Rom and three CM11 builds exist for KitKat, why not give them a try?
If you have unusually high battery usage, check your wakelocks, and see what exactly is using all the power, and you can disable/turn it off and remove that battery drain.
On a final note, comeon guys turn your phones off at night. I have yet to hear a good reason to leave it running over night, all it does is waste power and most commonly let the notification light run for 8 hours. If you use your phone as a alarm, you could turn on airplain mode overnight.
These are just some of the things that I do, if you have any more suggestions, feel free to post them or message me, I'll be glad to add them to the list.
I do not own this device but whats the point of turning all the feature of your phone off just to get a couple more hours out of it just use it like you should and stop worrying too much...
My 2 cents.

I'll say this again, not everyone is aware of some of the lower level services that android runs that are completely pointless and cause a lot of wakelocks. GPS is not pointless, it uses for Facebook, navigation, weather update, yelp and a lot of apps.. what you deem is pointless is different than everyone...your reason to own a smartphone is seriously wrong in so many ways...just saying man but its your money.
Honestly people should just enjoy the phone rather than trying to make it last longer. If your phone can make it through the day then consider that a successful phone.
I assumed everyone used their phone as an alarm. I never turn my phone off subsequently.
Some nice hints for someone needing more battery; however, I disagree with your assertion that closing applications saves power. Assuming you need to open the application again it would make sense to leave the application running (idle) in cached ram.

It completely depends on how often said application is opened, and what it does while idle. I know out of hand while I'm at work I see several people with 3-4 games left open on their phone, this is more what I was reffering too.
