Connect as USB Media Storage and your pc should be able to locate your phone. Transfer how you usually transfer files onto a USB

well, that was a real noob question, sorry... and thanks for your help.

Come on guys, he's asked for a method to move them from the phone to the PC using USB. Stop giving him the easy route and give him the hard core route.
In your case I'd get a USB OTG cable, USB memory stick, plug the stick into the USB OTG cable, plug the USB OTG cable into the phone, open a file browser copy/cut & paste the files from your phone on to the stick, remove the USB OTG cable from phone, remove memory stick from USB OTG cable, plug USB memory stick into your PC. Et Voila, you have a long winded method of getting your files off the phone.
Otherwise use your charging cable whilst connected to your PC as the others have said.

5) Boot into Download Mode
6) Connect USB cable
7) Flash recovery via Odin
8) Power off device
9) Boot into recovery
10) Download the Android SDK
11) Set adb.exe in environment path (or drop into system32)
12) reboot windows
13) Start adb shell in command prompt

SG S3 recorevy files problem
about your post, i got a problem and i hope u can help me.
I got a SG S3 -16 Gb, that only can boot in recovery and download mode but not android, and unfortunately i got files that i need to copy from INTERNAL SD.
I already tried with CWM 5.5 and 6.03 to mount /sdcard, but when i select do nothing! (not even and error message) sso the option mount USB storage doesn´t put available.
I tried with PhilzTouch340 and doesn´t show me the option to mount /sdcard and y neigther mount USB storage.
What can i do to copy or pull the files that i need from the phone to PC from recovery or download mode?
ADB option works from recovery mode?
Thanks.

[Q] Trouble transferring large files over wifi and usb

I had BIG problem transferring file(s) over wifi and cable, from pc to galaxy tab.
Tried MTP protocol, 'video sync' by samsung kies, wifi transfer via wireless pro, wifi transfer via 'add file to gt-p7500' via samsung kies.
Each one of it, yields same outcome. "error transferring files", or at the end of transfer, it would say "tablet stop responding" and such.
I had zero problem when transferring files below 400mb. No matter what format the file is and what method being used.
Please give me guidance. I am getting mad!
Did you enable usb debugging? I transferred over 20 gig worth of movies for a long trip I took last weekend, with some movies over 2 gig in size, and didn't have any problems. I didn't try with wifi tho, only with the data cable connected via usb.

Really. HOW on earth did you enable usb debugging and still manages to transfer files over usb cable ??
- When you connect the device with enable usb debugging, nothing and no disk space would appear on windows.
- When you connect the device with usb debugging OFF, Media Transfer Protocol would appear, and this is where large files transfer problem started.

'adb push'
I've had no trouble moving video files over 700 MB and 1.3 GB, using the given usb cable. Windows 7 PC with Samsung Kies drivers installed recognized the GT10.1 as a mass storage with a cell phone icon.
I've also used SwiFTP from the android market to set up my GT10 as a web disk, and then transfer files, which worked slow but without error. The one problem I have seen for SwiFTP was files with non-Western characters and symbols would sometimes get stuck.
You should not need to adb push/usb debugging to merely transfer files.
It seems like getting the drivers for MTP to install properly can be really funky. In my case I can't even get MTP to work at all on my Ubuntu box.
However, SwiFTP on an 802.11n network is around 3x faster than adb push.
(Either our tabs support 5 GHz N, or my router is not doing what it's supposed to be doing...)

This is what happens ALL THE TIME after 16 mins of waiting !!
This transfer was done using MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) - usb cable - debugging off

Bump. seriously no one EVER tried to transfer files over 4gb to their tabs??
As Entropy512 mentioned, use adb push. its not the quickest upload in the world, but it did not time out like transferring via usb or wifi. I have been able to successful transfer a 15GB file and an 8GB file with no issues
Heh. I think the workaround here is to download smaller sized torrents if you're going to watch them on your tablet.

How long you waited to transfer 8gb files? And seriously, how do you transfer 15gb files to a 16gb galaxy tab?
Do the Galaxy tab really have support for file sizes over 4 GB?

[App] mount NTFS Ext2/4 external hard drives & usb flash storage .no 4GB limitation
I found this application in markert https://market.android.com/details?id=com.skidmrk.umswatcherotg that let you mount and read any usb storage device whatever its format , I tried it and I got my 1tb NTFS hard drive to show on my tab , it works with sd cards and portable usb flash drives
I cannot get this app to work for the life of me on SGT 10.1 [P7500] With ICS CM9.
I have tried anything and everything, all with no success.
This app just seems to hang in ICS. Any suggestions on how to make this work?

Tried this app on ICS, but it doesn't even load up - it says I need to download a newer version of busybox, then it freezes at around 96-99% of downloading it.
It seems to partially work (it read some of my FAT thumb drives) but it didn't read my 2TB NTFS USB disk. Still hoping to get it to work somehow

are you guys talking about external hard drives (lets say 1tb) with a power source or just straight up usb powered?
I was under the impression that our tabs can only read NSF drives that have an AC power source as appose to power by usb from the tab.
I was thinking about purchasing this drive but not sure if the tablet will read it.. I know my laptop would obviously.

Other than the Samsung USB connection kit you can go eBay and search cheaper one. I got one USB adapter with SD card slot together.
Works for me
This app totally solved my problem (using galaxy tab as a car computer). Now I can mount a large capacity hard drive full of all my music.

[GUIDE][CM9][HOW TO ESTABLISH - USB Mass Storage]

Hey,
too many users are still asking about theirs problems with 'Mass storage' so there is a small guide:
1. Download latest drivers 3.7.2. Someone can't find so there is a link
- LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN37AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.7.2
2. You have to enable USB Mass Storage so where can I find this option:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. After that windows trying to install MTP drivers what is not working too much on WIN and therefore prevents installation of the USB MS driver so you have to delete some configuration file in:
C:/Windows/INF/
- wpdmtp.inf
- wpdmtp.inf
!BUT MAKE BACKUP FIRST!
After deleting those files windows automatically installs right drivers and you can use Mass Storage.
I did this a few times and when I reinstalled the drivers again, it worked!
Remember to turn on usb mass storage from your drop down screen after the usb cable is connected.
thanks mastershefis.
you mention some files but only list wpdmtp.inf, twice. typo? what is the other file?

Nevermind
isnt working for me, pc detects it but when i click computer> to find it no new "drive" is detected to brows the sd cards files.
Doesn't work for me.
The box for USB mass storage is greyed and I can't select it. I have a p5110.
Thanks
Thanks for posting your success story. It does help others, who are looking for confirmation. Thanks again. I am also facing the same problem and going to try this solution.

Success !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thankssssssss a lot ... struggling to find a solution for this issue for such a long time ... Tried different things (different computers, different ports, PC Suite, Mounting USB Storage in Recovery, and Formatting SD Card). Nothing worked ...
Finally your solution worked. Reinstalled the latest drivers from the link you provided and restarted my PC ... USB connection prompt promptly appeared on the notification area ... gr8 help. Thanks for the link too.
But this works only when I connect my phone before starting the PC. If I restart the PC it works. If I unplug USB cable of the phone from PC and connect it back, it does not automatically recognizes. I have to restart the PC to get the USB related popup on my phone. Am I doing anything wrong ??? Your help would be appreciated.
Few Questions:
1. After trying all these; if I put the 2 files back on "C:\Windows\inf\wpdmtp.inf", will it cause a problem???
2. Will my USB connection work normally if I do so???
3. Without these 2 files, my Windows in my PC won't misbehave right ???
Please do reply. If I find the solution myself ... will try to post.
Thanks again.

Your PC will works normally without these files. but maybe I have solutions for you. Try to find in windows folder wpdmtp.inf and wpdmtphw.inf if you find it in other folder put them to the C:\Windows\inf and replace older ones.
I have Optimus 4X HD right now and I found in C:\Windows\inf inf file from LG which didn't worked so I replaced it those files what I found in other folder and it worked

[Solved] Usb power consumption error on usb otg (root required)

So I was having this power consumption error with my hp pendrives and ssd. Searched the net for a software solution but couldn't find any except the terminal emulator command method which didn't work for me. So I tried to improvise on the idea and finally succeeded. It's basically the same idea but in a different way.
Clarification- this method is to only override the power consumption error which prevents the mounting of the removable device. So the power consumption will be still there and the charge will be drained at a fast pace if used for long time. U can use the method for copy files between your phone and the pendrive or for viewing for a small time. Adequate charge is therefore highly recommended.
Method-
1.plug in the device into the otg cable and then the cable into the phone.
2.wait till the power consumption error message is displayed.
3.using a root explorer(e.g. es file explorer) go to the folder 'root>sys>bus>usb>devices>1-1'
4.open the file 'bConfigurationValue' with a text editor(es text editor in my case). It should be blank. Edit and put the value 1 and save the file.
5.Your device will now be mounted and the message will be displayed in the statusbar.
6.Your device is now explorable.
N.B.- In some cases instead of the power consumption error message, usb devices disabled message is shown. If it happens try unplugging and replugging till the power consumption error message is shown.
Disclaimer -
1.This method worked for me and so I shared. I wont be responsible for any damaged os or device.
2.I dont knw if anyone has shared the method before. Didnt find anywhere when I searched.
Device used- Xperia U on rooted ics. Should work for other related devices too.

if this error is there everytime u plug in the device then it is because of a bad cable or usb storage. I use to get this when I plug in a sd card reader with a bad card or a pendrive formatted as ntfs. plz check whether the pendrive u plugged is mounted in a pc. or try after a reboot of the phone.

Hi, my cell phone is Lenovo K5 Pro.
everything works fine, but somehow it no longer recognizes external entities.
I went to twrp, I tried to fix the error but I get this error.

Problem with USB / PC connect

I have a problem with S9 + (org ROM).
The phone normally charges via a USB cable, while connecting to a computer does not recognize it.
After connecting the USB, the phone only charges and does not send data ....
I tried on 4 cables and 2 different computers .. just the same ... I wonder if any program does not bother USB or maybe something in the options I changed
I checked USB debugging, USB mode (MTM data transfer mode). ... and in spite of everything the problem occurs
Is a damaged USB port? ?
The beam only appears "landing using a cable" << it is not possible to expand the USB connection option
I have uninstalled drivers

I installed Kiess and nothing .. I still do not recognize the device
The problem does not seem to be a cable or a connector (it would not charge if USB was released

Have you updated and configured Bixby? That seems to be needed to connect to the PC. See my reply to the later thread about being unable to connect to PC by USB.
Hope this helps.
how can I config Bixby ? -I can't find your thread
Bixby is the first home screen, it'll ask a bunch of questions to get started.
The thread is USB Device not recognized by Labeled.
My usb port got real flakey. Would not fast charge on cable but would wirelessly. When cable connected to Android Auto was always getting device not recognized error. I took it back to tmobile and warranty exchanged it for another. The new one works great.

I have this problem too, but after a while I realised that if I connect to a computer with a USB-C to USB-C cable, the computer would recognise my phone and vice versa. Android auto would work with some cars, the one tested being an 2017 Hyundai Elantra. I'm not sure why this problem occurs though.
