Custom rom may or may not have a modem its all in the rom description.

Mostly work across all regions and networks .

It's not about flashing,I'm asking about cooking rom i.e for eg Custom Rom has got KH3 as base and i want to change it to KI3 and flash..!! Any idea how??
Build the rom from the required base .
Their is not a base rom inside a custom rom so to speak ,
Kernel inside base rom yes .

I have 3 questions that i couldn't answer by myself..
1.
Is there any Custom ROM for XXKPP ?
I look at the custom rom list at section android development but i couldn't find for this baseband version.
2.
In BehradGH CyanoAce RC2.2 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1258830
He recommends XKPB 2.3.4 Modem, and my question is :
If I flash my firmware with XKPP or Baseband version 2.3.4+ , is there will be any problem if i use that ROM?

Cyano Ace is outdated. I recommend Infinity ROM. Its making great news on XDA.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
But Tj, is that infinity ROM support for XKPP ? Sorry if this is a stupid question, because i still can't understand about baseband version.
i guess it will support that
just flash it as i tried it and it is fast and nice looking
and lighter too
Click thanks if i helped

Allright, maybe i'll try it.. But if there is anyone who can explain more, i'll be more grateful Thx
1- custom rom doesnt depends on baseband at all. u can flash it on any baseband. just make sure to not mix eg by flashing gb custom rom/cm7 rom on froyo. that would be stupid.
2- suggestion is not mandatory. when i first flash that rom i'm on chinese zckpa rom with chinese baseband, and it work just fine.

You can check it in http://www.sammobile.com
But you must register first, so you can see the latest firmware for your ace.
Or, you can go to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20763943
I think the mod of that thread take all baseband information from sammobile.
Check it out dude

I've updated to HE modem, rooted, unlocked, IMEI backed up, latest recovery. Could someone give a link or answer my noob questions?
#1 Do roms overwrite modem?
#2 Does a ROM need to be written for the HE modem? Meaning, if I have the HE, do I need to wait for a specific update in a rom's development?
Thanks.
Rom in zip format for recovery don't change the modem. Odin ones usually change it.
Rom doesn't care about modem directly, the communication is done by Ril. You can match or try different ril with GetRil app.

YES if modem is included in the rom you need to read the rom description if custom rom .Stock Rom always includes a modem and CSC .
#2 Does a ROM need to be written for the HE modem?
NO Modems roms and CSC are interchangeable but a modem or CSC may be specific to a local area .
Its all in the sticky and guides .

Hi,
In some ROM's the modem is already included in the zip and it can be another different modem than the one you have, so flashing the ROM can change the modem (in case it's in the zip, just need to check the features/changelog of the ROM you want to know it).
You just need to delete the modem in the zip before flashing or reflash the previous modem you had after the ROM.

Problem SOLVED
I have just rooted my Galaxy S2 and flashed it with a custom rom.
My original phone info was
PDA: I9100XWLP3
PHONE: 19100O2ULP4
CSC I9100O2ULPR
Now after custom Rom when i check from settings
Baseband I9100XXLPR
KERNEL 3.0.15-SIYAH
BUILD NO IML74K.XWLP3
My questions are
1.what options I have in case I want to try other roms out there. Can I install Rom for 4.0.4...( I know thats dumb to ask. Its not possible just bear with me)
2. In case I can only Install 4.0.3 based Roms , has it to be LPR- LP3 strictly. or I can install other versions like Omega ROM XWLPG Android 4.03....LINK
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1489197..
3.Finally if I have to be very specific in choosing Roms what option do I have . I haven't came across almost any roms supporting LP3.
Help will be much appreciated
Regards

1. Yes, you can. Install a 4.0.4 rom from CWM (if custom rom - zip file) or from ODIN (if stock rom - tar file)
2. You are not limited to 4.0.3 however if you like to stay on that you can flash any version including XWLPG (choose most suitable for).
3. You don't have to be specific.
There are however some basic rules to be followed:
- if you switch between different roms - full wipe is recommended to avoid any freezes, FCs etc
- if you move from 4.0.3 to stock 4.0.4 don't wipe anything just after flashing 4.0.4 rom due to possible brick bug. Imediately after flashing 4.0.4 stock rom flash one of the safe kernels (wihout wipes before) - eg. PhillZ-CWM6, Siyah, Dorimanx etc.

Yes, u can ma8 remember once rooted u can install any custom rom of ur choice, but the only thing u have to ensure is that those roms are meant for ur model ie I9100 and u should follow the install instruction given by the devloper's of that rom to perfection
