bluetooth issues on AOSP roms? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I have tried several different AOSP roms - currently on slimbean r7 - and it seems that all of them have varying degrees of issues with bluetooth. I have tried to sync my phone with my car and also with a portable speaker (jambox) and have had varying levels of success ranging from not working at all to working intermittently to working perfectly. This is the case before and after a restart.
Question - is there a fix, or is this a known problem with all aosp roms? If i go back to a TW rom will i have this issue?
Thank you so much for your help.

=)

anyone able to help?

[Q] litening rom bluetooth problems

didn't find any comment in the thread and also aren't yet allowed posting in the dev-forums...
i've experienced several bluetooth problems in the past litening rom versions but most of them aren't this annoying as the current bug(?) in 2.7 - regular connections drops when using A2DP. mostly the connections drops when using the mobile while streaming audio but meanwhile it also often happens without any interaction. neither the mobile nor the cars audio system report any error at all, instead the connection itself persists. only the audio stream drops, so i'm not even sure if it's a problem with bluetooth or the music app (aosp app). in fact while using HFP i've never had any problems...
anyone else who wants to confirm this behaviour? any workarounds? unique problem?
I've had the same problem - and also with Resurrection Remix v1.4. Very annoying. No solution as yet

Bluetooth in-call audio issue

Hi all,
I have an issue with bluetooth audio while in a call. The audio quality is so bad, even with a lot of imagination I can't make up what the other one is sating. Normal bluetooth audio (like touchsounds or media) is fine.
This problem doesn't occur on the stock rom, but only on the custom (CM10-based) roms I tried.
I've tried ParanoidAndroid 2.51 and AOKP milestone 1.
I've got the same issue with both my bluetooth headset and carkit.
I also tried different radio's, currently I'm on I9300CEDLI1.
It doesn't seem to be a kernel issue ether. Currently I'm running stock JB with Siyah kernel 1.7rc1 without any problems. (I tried PA en AOKP with this same kernel)
I would appreciate it very much if someone could point me in the right direction.
Regards,
Roel

Bluetooth headset issues on VoIP, On CM based roms

Hi All,
I am sure most of the CM users have had this issue with their bluetooth headsets not working for VoIP calls on apps like Viber, Skype etc.
Sadly the same issue occurs with me too. There are no issues when i use a sammy stock based roms however this happens only when using a CM based rom.
I am using a Sony SBH 20 and also have a Samsung HS3000 bluetooth headsets and have tried almost all the roms including the official CM 11 nightlies, CM 11 by MarkOX, SlimKat, Carbon, PAC so on. none seem to work with bluetooth and viber.
However, the problem was not existing when i was using a Samsung Galaxy Grand (GT - i9082) with pawitp's CM 11 and Xenons Carbon rom (Both based on CM 11 sources) and bluetooth with viber or normal calls never had an issue at all.
Wondering if this is something to do with the Audio part of the roms to be causing compatibility issues with bluetooth because the same issue appeared resolved for roms cooked for an other device.
Pleading for a fix or a suggestion if any audio libs can be copied to the system folder of CM 11 from sammys stock to fix this issue (if anyone has tried it).

Stock Bluetooth stack

Hi ,
I am hoping someone can answer a couple of questions for me.
With my S3 ONLY the stock ROM bluetooth works correctly with my inbuilt car system.
ANY ( I have tried many many different ones ) custom ROMS and I have an issue.
The issue is 2 fold. 1 - very very bad distortion, unable to make out any words - this effects voice calls only. 2 - Music play back plays clear but has random micro pauses.
Any custom ROM does the same. Stock 4.1 , 4.2 or 4.3 work perfect.
Can the bluetooth stack from stock be copied to a custom rom? Is is different anyway?
I like SlimRom or CM11 best , if I could get those to work I would be very happy indeed.
Cheers,

Bluetooth problems android 5.0

I started to get audio dropouts over blue tooth when I upgraded to 5.0. The dropout were quick just like a record skipping. I have tried on several different programs Spotify, google play, and internal phone audio. All were same result. Skipping audio. At first I thought it was the ROM I was on. So I went back to stock, and same issues. I also tried NU player and awesomeplayer in dev settings. Same result. I am pairing with a flexsmart x2. I have not tired any ASOP based roms so I suspect Samsung may be the culprit. Do you guys know if they changed any of the code in lolipop in bluetooth after kitkat? And perhaps did not make something backward compatible?
Let me know if you are on lollipop and having similar issues with note 3 sprint.
I'm having the same issue, I just thought it was my headset.

Anybody tried Rocket Player, and enabling "Double Buffer" under Settings -> Sound?
The only times I've had problems is when downloading over Wi-Fi and trying to use Bluetooth as well, since they seem to use the same subsystem.
I'm stock rooted 5.0, although I'm now two updates behind...
I've experienced this problem, but not to the severity of you. I think other factors may have influenced my issue. I regularly use a bluetooth headset and heart rate monitor and I don't experience many issues. Are you sure its not the bluetooth device at fault? You could possibly have some dying hardware in the phone too.
i have gone back and forth between lollipop and kitkat the problem with the Bluetooth starts at 4.4.4 and increases with lollipop. 4.4.2 is fine.
Have you tried with a different Bluetooth device? I have one in the car that skips for approx. 2 minutes when I first turn it on, regardless of what phone is connected to it, but then it's all good. Same phones on the home stereo and zero skips.
Dan
Have you tried AOSP based ROMs? Obviously you'll lose Touchwiz features and S-Pen integration- but I have personally used the builds by Jdelano (both PAC ROM and Resurrection Remix) and the bluetooth has worked 100% fine on my car stereo (but that's all I've tested it with).
