Hey,
I have official 4.0.4 ROM on my i9100 now, but minute ago it automatically downloaded Jelly Bean via OTA.
I don't want this update (it sucks, I had this ROM earlier and I downgraded), but it remembers me about downloaded software on the notification panel and via pop-up in 30 minutes.
How to delete this f*%$&* downloaded OTA JB update-package without root ?
Wipe or ROM re-install is not an option.
Please, help. :fingers-crossed:

Ok, I freezed an OTA-***** in app-settings, it works even after re-boot.
Hope, that 4.2.2/4.3 update will be much better than 4.1.2...

JB 4.1.2 wouldn't be so bad if you had done a full wipe after the update (you can always backup and restore stuff).
I have done full wipe... And JB sucks...

Well, you can always Odin a stock ICS firmware (avoid flashing 4.0.4 because of the eMMC BrickBug issue). :good:
I suggest you try a stock JB based custom ROM. Its really good.
I have donwgraded to LQ6 4.0.4 (sane chip).
I don't have enough time to try customs, so I'll use 4.0.4 as far as the 4.2/4.3 will be release.

Rooted and Siyah Kernel.
I was wondering if there is a way to get ICS update through Samsung Kies (when I plug the phone in it keeps telling me it's up to date)?
I want to keep all my setting and data.
I know it's possible to do it through Odin but all my apps and data will be erased
If there is no way to update using Kies what is the best/latest stock ICS firmware available now? Which one will get the latest updates first?
you can backup your apps and data using Titanium backup and flash a Custom ICS rom from CWM
latest stock is XWLP9 and reported very stable...you can get it from here Rooted and CWM flashable : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1292825
don't really want to keep backing up the app every time there is an update. I just want to go back to stock...

You answered it your self, custom ROM......
Stock is buggy. Dxlp9 is good
I kind of want to go completely stock as I mentioned so when new version of Android comes out I can just update using Kies. Don't really want to deal with all backup and restores.
FYI, there is no guarantee a Kies update won't screw up either though. Always a good idea to back up before an upgrade, be it a Kies update, or an Odin flash. And if you're going from stock to stock with an Odin flash, that won't wipe your phone anyways. (still a good idea to wipe anyways, though...)
Is it possible to install/flash a JB custom ROM (based on latest official stock) over my current Stock ICS 4.0.4 ROM without problems & have all my previous data (apps, features, contacts, settings..) back as it is ????

No, you need to wait for your region. You can of course flash one of the releases but you may get problems and end up having to wipe the phone to solve them.
You can get everything back except for your settings. You'll have to do the dance but everything else is recoverable.

I always find it best to wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik at a minum but before that you could always backup your apks and data using titanium backup or Mybackup root

Hi, i have an S3 and i want to install Jelly Bean.
At the moment i have my device rooted using: Odin3-v3.04_Galaxys3ii.com with CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4
Now to the question: How do i proceed correctly to update to jelly bean? And if possible, get root-access as well? But if that is too complicated i would happily settle with stock JB.
I tried to update OTA but got this error (roughly translated from Swedish): "Access to the software update service is provided to the user in the order they request it. try again later."
Then i tried through Samsung KIES. It finds an update but the program just freezes when i try to install it, not affecting the phone.
Thanks for all answers!

Ok nice! So given that im a noob and all.. Do i need to go to stock or anything before this or can i just load this in with odin and it will all work?
they flash in recovery, all you need is root and custom recovery, if you have those you are good to go, I recommend a wipe, but you could try without, if you find that you have problems with f/c 's then go back to recovery and do a factory reset

I've always used custom roms on my galaxy. I was even using in dual-boot, a Jelly Bean Revolt and other stock. I was testing a new stock, and flashed it with Odin Mobile. I ended up losing custom. Since then, I can no longer flashing custom roms, even having problems flashing a new kernel. I use the CWM, do the wipes and flash the* rom, but after the reboot, it starts a boot loop with the galaxy s2 logo. The phone is inoperable. At least the download mode works, and I ended up going back to stock a few times. I even tried and flash another custom roms, but the same problem happens.
Anyone know how to help??

Flash a 3-parted stock firmware and activae "re-partition" in Odin.
After this flash a rooted kernel .tar (cf-root, speedmod, etc.) via Odin.
Now start flashing again.
Hope this works.

I've read about emmc brick. And this problem started after using a LQ6 4.0.4 stock rom.
I even used the "emmc brick check", and it shows "YES. Insane chip".
I flashed now a 2.3.6 stock rom. But i haven't tried to flash another custom rom yet.
Should i proceed as you say???
And sorry for my noobness, but what is a 3 parted stock rom?

it contains a .pit file for re-partition and 2 other files, but u should be carefull in using the .pit file though, since it could potentially hardbrick ur device ma8
instead try updating ur device from GB 2.3.6 to a stock v4.0.3(do not flash any 4.0.4 ICS firmware) ICS firmware either thro 'KIES' or 'ODIN', then root ur phone and try installing a custom ICS rom of ur choice and see

I've already updated to 4.0.3
If i'm flashing Jelly Bam Rom for an example, do i need to install these kernel before, since the rom already has it in the AROMA installer???
And should do the wipes before it/??
Thanks!

Thanks.
It only worked with with previous instalation of dorinmax kernel. So i had to use Revolt Jelly Bean Rom.
When i tried to flash Jelly Bam Rom, got into galaxy s2 loop, after reboot.
At least, i've got one custom rom.
Now it's so much more difficult to install a rom on my phone. Only because i used that 4.0.4.
There's no way back, right?
My warranty ends in November 30th.

That's why I said to completely go back on a stock firmware with Odin.
But 3 parted (and for sure with .pit-file then, forgot to say this) and check repartition.
But u have to choose... A phone which turns screen on an just looping or a chance from 80% to 20% for getting phone working again or bricking it.
I personally hadn't any prob til now, but only went back 4-5 times ins 2-3 years (also did the same with SGS before SGSII)
So u got my answer u have to choose.
Anyway u can send it back because warranty and if they fix it, it's fine... If not u can try it by urself anyway

Send from my SGSII-i9100, running RootBox nightly with Dorimanx Kernel.
Since my SII screwed up during an official Kies update. I've used Odin a couple of times to update official releases.
It's worked great, but the last install was supposed to be the official release but Keis hasn't worked since and I'd like to get it onto Jellybean.
I dont generally mess with it much between updates, so I'm a bit lost
Could anyone point me in the right direction please, I'm not sure what I'm running and what version of JellyBean I should be using to upgrade?

So, what do you want? You want to flash a firmware yourself? And remember, going from ICS to jellybean will wipe your data, (apps, settings) things like photos which are stored on the internal SD is safe. So backup your data, before you flash do one more manual sync.

Hi Sven
I want to flash JB onto my device with Odin.
I know it'll wipe everything (I keep everything I hold dear in the cloud these days)
I mainly need help with the mine field of versions.
What am on? and what should I upgrade to.?
Official if available. But other than that whatever is stable.
(what happens to apps installed on the SD?)
It does not matter which rom you are now. If you want to install JB is recommend the latest, which is LSE. If you know how to use odin, I direct you to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736726 You can download LSE from that thread. And if you would like to take a risk, you can flash without wiping data. I recommend it because of the diffrence between touchwiz 4 and touchwiz ux. I just like to have a clean phone after a update like this.

You are supposed to wipe data etc when changing platforms so everything runs smoothly.
