[Q] Backing up IR remote control database on original Tablet S? - Sony Tablet S

Hello,
I'm having problems with my original Tablet S and need to do a factory reset. I've got a lot of learned codes in the IR remote control app, and I was hoping that there was a way to back this up. I'm not rooted, and none of the backup apps I've tried list the IR remote as being capable of being backed up.
Does anybody know a way of doing it?
Thanks

You would need to rooted for the backup apps to work

Allshare and Kies air alternatives?

Hi guys I am new to android and just got the samsung galaxy s2 from att&t...My 2 quick noob questions are...are there any alternatives to allshare(dlna sharing for samsung tv's) and kies air(a way to wirelessly sync) on any custom rom?
I think those 2 features are pretty important work great.
Also if i were to try a custom rom, is there a way to go back to stock unrooted? like nothing happened?
If i do install a custom rom...is there a way to remove the yellow exclamation mark at boot?
Also after installing a custom rom, what program would one use thats comparable to kies?
Is CWM necessary to install to root the phone?
anyone? bump...
Ill answer what I know only.
You can go back to a stock unrooted rom using Odin. This will remove the exclamation point.
You also need cwm to flash a rom.

I use Wifi File Transfer Pro myself in lieu of Kies Air and it works better for me. Kies Air is way too slow and if you simply want to upload/download files, WFTP works great. It was $1.40 when I bought it but there's also a free version with more limited functionality but you can see how it works.
It's not a full blown sync client though, just data transfer.
As to getting back to stock, I've used and had great luck with Entropy's method here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432 - You can choose to go rooted after a return to stock or unrooted.
Skifta is a great alternative to Allshare. Also, Plex works exceptionally well for streaming to the phone.
Is there any alternative to a full blown sync client for the GS2 besides kies?
Also does Titanium backup, backup to a computer or an sd card or just a partition of the internal memory?
If it uses an sd card, then can it be used for anything else, like storing music too?
SSH.

Best method of backup and finding lost phone?

I am using Samsung Dive, I just tried it and it found my phone, though it needed wifi. I like it, it of course works and I'd be happy to stick with it, but am just curious if there are any potentially better options? I'm hoping for something that would work with just a GPS signal, if that's possible. Happy to stick with Dive, though.
Also, for backup, I'm using my Samsung account and daily backup. I'm guessing this is enough, is there anything again more effective?
Please note I am using stock and have no interest in rooting. Thanks for any help!

Cerberus is by far the best anti theft app out there.
Find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lsdroid.cerberus
Afaik, Dive also has GPS tracking.
Samsung backup only does your settings. I'm sure you have already synced up contacts and are saving new contacts in your google account, so that's taken care of.
The only remaining thing is your apps and you'll have to be rooted for that I'm afraid, either to do a Nandroid or Titanium backup.

I use SMS backup/restore for SMS, very simple.
If you get Google + or dropbox you can instantly upload photos you take.

I use Avast! Mobile for antivirus and theft protection. Does everything Cerebus does, plus antivirus, all for free.
If you are rooted, nothing beats Titanium backup. With a Dropbox or Box or Google Drive account, it will back up your files to the cloud.
Anyone else use Android Lost? Seems good, but hard to say until you really need it.

Thanks, just installed Cerberus, however the Device Admin rights seems quite scary. I'm guessing without that enabled the app can't really do its job?
So when you say Samsung backup only does my settings, what do you mean? The settings of the phone itself? (Display, sound, etc.).
Yes I have Google account syncing my contacts, calendar, etc.
For apps it doesn't seem a big deal, I'll just keep screenshots of my downloaded list if I had to wipe and reinstall. Particularly as I will not be rooting.

Yup, I use Dropbox and have a task in Astrid reminding me to upload all photos every couple days in case I forget
I just tried ultimate backup and backed up all my downloaded apps to the sd card, it seems to have worked? Is it a bs app or have I just backed everything up without root?
There is an option in dropbox to upload photos as soon as they are taken. No need to remind yourself
When I root i will need to try titanium.

Admin rights are only required for the app to become uninstallable. Everything else works without it.

[Q] What to use for backups

I read on Google Play that Sony had disabled Helium. Anyone know why?
I am looking for a backup and restore app that covers everything without the need to root the XZT. There is a built-in app that seems to have covered it but does it? I have just had to re-build my device and used the restore from the PC companion and it was awful. I've spent another day re-downloading and configuring settings and apps.
Is there an app that backs up and restores everything including the folders and icons on the home pages?
Thanks

Is there a reason why you don't want to root it? Afaik you wont void your warranty unless you unlock your bootloader.
Titanium backup never failed me.

Yep, When I rooted before, I lost SkyGo and this is important to me. As much as I would love to be rooted, this is one facility I don't want to sacrifice.

TB works perfectly
the only issue i got earlier with my droid razr was for apps which i move to sd card.
All i can say is wrong section

[Q] Samsung Captivate to Motorola Atrix 4g

Hello Guys and Gals,
I have a problem. My father is going from Android 2.0 to Android 4.0.4. He has alot of notes he took on Memo and wants to transfer them to the new phone. I have backuped all his files on the sd card and external to his new phone but I am having trouble finding both the current app for Memo and the files that contain the notes. I have looked for the creator of the app but its no where to be found on the phone. I rooted his phone long time ago. Super user doesn't function anymore so I cant TB. Any ideas on how to get his notes working? If you need any other info, let me know.

So. Your father went from a captivate (galaxy s, I belive) to an atrix with ics?
What kind of app is Memo, does it came preinstalled or downloaded from playstore?
Usually, all the data files for an app are on /data/data/<appname>
You can download another superuser app from playstore (SuperSu I think was one).

The memo app is the default one. I have already tried installing the different Super Users but they all don't work when I log into TB. I will have to look in that folder. I still need to find that app so I can restore his notes on the new phone.
Ok. Seems to me the only way is re rooting the device. The data dir isn't accesible without root. Then you should be able to use tb to transfer the app

Backup and restore on S6

Hey guys. I ve been using android since the dark ages of Donut and Gingerbread... But have never backed up so that I can restore from Google servers.
I ve been hearing stories about people getting all the apps back on the new phone, exactly like they were on the old one.
As I am changing phones a lot, especially S6, which I am.trying different colors of regular and edge, just wanted to ask how exactly do I do the backup and restore?
I mean, if I check Automatically backup to Google servers, How do I know when the backup is finished? How do I restore everything on the new phone? Will it backup my settings too? I dont need to backup pics or music, just the damned settings and app data, so that I dont have to setup manually each time.
You know what I mean, I am sure...
Thank you for the advice..
