In order to get an accurate response, you'd need to post more screenshots from BBS - things like wakelocks, kernel wakelocks and app activity will help greatly to diagnose your phones battery consumption.
By the looks of the 1 screenshot that you have provided, I can only assume that you are a pretty heavy user...as the device did not have much deep sleep time (only 25%) and the battery per hour rate is 7.2% .

Yes I use my phone a lot during the day. Next time I will do a 100% to 1% and post more shots.

I updated my op with more information. How is it now?

Anyone.

Looks decent to me. Not bad at all for such heavy use

BBS Review
Here is my dump. How is my usage? Is 12.5 hrs till 4 percent good or bad? Note that the awake time is higher because I was listening to music with the screen off. Don't refer me to the BBS thread because my idle battery life is great. Thanks again!

You need to actually read the BBS thread..
If your idle battery life is "great" then it boils down to how you are using your phone. Are you letting it sleep or are you using it a lot?
Getting rid of GoChat will improve your battery life as it is creating a wakelock.
You will gain still more battery life by going into Settings->Sound and unchecking all the boxes towards the bottom. This is yet another known issue..
Looks like you are using it a lot, and getting the battery life associated with a heavy user.
Do you have a more specific question? I'm not sure what you are looking for here really. The main thing you need to do is research this stuff so that you are familiar with it.

I read the BBS thread and have already posted an idle log there. I only posted a log instead of a screenshot cuz I was lazy and didn't feel like taking 5 screenshots. The time that the wakelock was on was the amount of time I used GoChat, meaning the screen was on as long as I was using it. I just wanted a yay or nay of my battery life. I usually play videos from youtube for a solid hour, browse the web intensively, take a couple of photos, use 3g, and send some texts, if that helps in putting a figure on my battery usage from the screen on time vs the deep sleep time, so thanks for answering my question.

[Q] So, is this typical battery life?

Stock battery
I have done everything from Autostarts to managing my processes constantly. I played hanging with friends, got on here, and texted.
I posted an updated battery usage. I have lowest brightness, lowest image brightness, 15s timeout, etc.
i would probably switch to conservative governor vs powersave
This isn't typical battery life
I'd advice you to use better battery stats and cpu spy to se what's causing your battery to drain so quickly
Sometimes I notice "back up" in bbs, and this casus my phone to drain within a day
Hanging with friends does consume a lot of battery, but I play it too, and this does not cause that much drainage..
I have ICScrewed and with a heavy usage, my phone usually last for 1.5 ~ 2 days
With moderate call/text and idle, it lasts for 4 days.

Dang that is high! Are you sure about that? :O At medium usage /w unnamed i only get about 18 hours total. It was similar with ICScrewed too
Holy crap. I'll look into better apps. Could UnNamed be the culprit? Or the kernel?
Should I buy a new battery? The life waslike this for the few days I was stock, I think
I average around 17hr, on a good day I'll get 20h. I also recommend better battery stats, great app to see what's keeping your device from going to deep sleep.
Another great app is lbe privacy guard, you can deny certain apps and games some of the permissions they want (disabling GPS on those that really don't need it etc).
I'm on unnamed so that isn't the issue. Might be the kernel, just check the kernel wake clock in better battery stats to check. I'm on entropy's latest dd, while i do feel i got better battery life on the kernel with the latest unnamed ROM I'm not to sure if it's the kernel or something else.

I'd be curious to see your graph. My battery is dead now, but tomorrow I'm going to get on and upload Better Battery Stats to my phone. I would've paid for it on the Market, but I couldn't find it when I searched. I'm curious to see what other people think. I switched all Powersaves to Conservative. Is OnDemand bad for my CPU as it constantly trips from 500MHz to 1.2GHz? Should I consider going to 1GHz?

I have a hard time believing that. I've done everything I can to optimize my phone and reduce wakelocks and battery drain, and I still never get more than 20 hours on a good day, and that's with moderate usage.
How do you define "heavy usage"?

I agree. This is my latest battery cycle of what I consider "moderate" use
What I'd consider light usage (about 10 minutes of voice, between 5-10 minutes of cellular data, 10-15 texts, and about 20 minutes of total screen-on time) I get about 35 hours.
I have managed to almost completely drain my battery in about 4 hours though... Thanks Game Dev Story!

I realized I forgot to turn off data when I'm not using it, but I installed better battery stats and I didn't really see any wake locks. Should I try a different kernel? Any opinions on an efficient one? NOTE: I already got the yellow triangle for using the Odin way, so I'm fine with doing whatever to this phone.
I added my better battery stats shots. I guess today would be called a very light to light day.

I see two very top wake locks have kept your phone from sleeping for an hour..
That is a significant amount.
Also, use cpuspy to see how hard it's been working.
I would try to get rid of those top two wake locks...
Oh crap! I didn't see them until you brought it to my attention. That explains some of the idle drain. I'll look into CPU Spy. You guys have been so helpful!
Your kernel wakelocks had no data, probably due to BBS being a fresh install. A full charge should set a proper reference point.

If something's holding that many log wakelocks, something might be spamming a log somewhere.
I can't find anything to help with those two either. Or would seem that the keyguard might have something to do with text messages, but I can't see anything that would spam the log. Where might I be able to read this log?
Also, I'll post my CPU spy stats toward the end of the night. It's looking like it spends most of its time at 500MHz.
@wrathofnero You can remove the triangle with a usb jig. Worked for me.

[Q] Any tips for maximize usage time ?

I have read a lot of threads regarding battery life.. But I really don't care having 2 days with 3 or 4 hrs of screen time.
My deep sleep is actually very good 96%-97% in 8 hours... But I want to know what to do to minimize the battery USING the phone while browsing.. Screen brightness I always have it a lowest possible.. Also have it UV a bit, using LiLRom 1.5.1 with entropy 3/5 right now is dropping like 1% in 3-4min... Is there anything else I can do to increase the time for lets say around 6-8min ? I guess 10min/1% will be impossible..
80% of the power usage is due to the screen. That's the price we pay for amoled.
Disabling "Use Wireless Networks" under Location and Security in Settings helps.
That will stop the apps that you are using from unnecessarily polling your location. For example, I've seen Facebook turn on GPS every time I access it even when all I am doing is checking my Wall. Turning off above mentioned option prevents this.

If your browsing the forums, you need to use the black theme in Tapatalk (xda premium). Black is our friend for battery. Could also drop your CPU/GPU clock down 1 step, but the screen will be #1.
There's an entire thread full of suggestions, why start this one?

Yeah I have read your thread and is a very nice one but the problem on that thread is that it became some sort of competition of which combo rom/kernel have the better battery for a period of days.. And not squezing the most of screen ON but using the phone. I did some test a few months ago, and if only the screen is ON but without touching the phone it will get nice times. But once you start touching the phone is when the power consumption is bumped.
But will be nice to see a guide with some values to mess with freq,mv,etc.. to get a balanced consumption between usage and performance..

[Q] Need expert help in analyzing my battery consumption

Hi Everyone,
I know there are thousands of threads regarding battery consumption on the SGII - I have tried many many suggestions and I still have terrible battery life. I was hoping someone could give me a hand in analyzing if my stats are normal or if there is anything I could do to make it last longer - my battery life is just terrible.
I'm running RootBox 3.2 Jelly Bean.
Please find attached my BBS and Battery graphic. Let me know if there is any other detail that I can attach in order to troubleshoot my battery consumption.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Try using 2G networks when you don't need big bandwith. 2G is enough for WhatsApp, WAP sites, messengers.

I have tried being on 2G the whole day with very similar results
Disable all data connections for a while and compare how much battery was used.
Try GetRIL to get a match baseband and see if it improve it.

Your log is not looking that bad considering your screen on time of about 2 hours and the CPU usage.
The cause of the largest wakelocks seem to be your music player and synchronization software. Maybe you could get less wakelocks by reconfiguring them.

So you are saying 2 hours of screen on time draining over 70% of my battery is decent? Not sure how much its supposed to give

No, this is not what I'm saying.
First the battery draining is not over 70%, it is 64% (according to what your BBS log says). Second, the amount of time the phone spends running with a 'high' CPU frequency is quite large, or, in other words, the amount of time your phone runs at 'low' CPU frequencies or even better, is in deep sleep, is quite small.
Taking all this together I think you do not have abnormal or excessive battery draining.

[Q] Battery Drain

Hi,
I would like to ask for some help regarding battery drain. Im currently using S3 with CM10.1 and the battery drain is quite high.
Using BBS, i have gathered some stats and i would like to request for some help in analysing it.
I see that multipdp is taking up a huge chunk of the kernel wakelock. my signal strength is at -85 mostly.
In the battery stats, it also shows that android OS is taking more than 50% of battery, that's unusual right?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Hi,

all the cm roms have the problem of battery drain. i get around 15 hours on a normal usage and around 10 hours with a little bit more usage. try changing the kernels.
:good:
Cyanogen mod roms are known to drain battery much faster than touchwiz.so you cant really expect the battery life to be the same as on stock or stock based roms. you may improve the battery life by using an app called Greenify. it hibernates apps so that they will not run in the backround. this can help considerably. also make sure to turn off gps , bluetooth, wifi. and mobile data when not in use. also battery should improve after three charging cycles

Do not bump before 24 hours of inactivity on the thread. It is against the rules that you agreed upon when signing up for this forum.
CM doesn't have the best battery life, I see some Facebook related things. Facebook is a known battery drainer. Their app coding is atrocious.

Thanks for all the feedback. I accept that CM can drain more battery than stock.
What im quite bemused by is from seeing how other people's battery usage do not have the OS taking more than 50% but mine in fact does.
I just have a feeling that's unusual?
Sorry for not abiding by the rules, my anxiousness to find a solution :crying:

Best battery performance kernel

I am currently running debloated stock .305.
I am not overwhelmed by the battery performance. my z3c with slim rom was much better.
So i wonder if i could flash another kernel and improve the battery performance.
So if you guys have some experiences that they will share i would appreciate it.

I'm on the xpower rom and it's weird: during 8h of sleep it only lost 1% of battery, after 10 minutes of browsing and whatsapp it lost 10% of battery. Unacceptable, "screen" is taking most of the battery as there doesn't seem to be any other battery intense app.
Does anyone have any idea?
Sounds like you have 10% drain in 8 hours with light use. That's 1.2% per hour. I think that's pretty usual... And yes, screen should be the most demanding component unless you don't really use the phone. Try lowering the brightness, the effect is almost exponential

Not really, I have 1% over night (which is great) but then 10% in 10 minutes as soon as I start using it (just browsing the net).
I would assume it's just not getting the levels right just after sleep, in fact you've lost 8% and another 2 while using it.

you think so? I rebooted it several times and it would always show the same %, only to drop drastically as soon as I used it. It's really weird to see the battery going down while using it for just a couple of minutes.
Battery % is always a guess.
It would be much better to actually use the device for a few days and then deduce how much battery time you get according to your own usage.
Im using XPower as well and notice the same issue. Battery can last forever screen off but then drains quickly when on.

Well compare to the latest stock firmware the battery seems to be night and day. I can easily get two days with light use. The battery drain on stock seemed to just be constant.
