[Resolved] Play Store & Mobile Network force closing, can't send/receive texts/calls
Hi there!
I installed the Resurrection Remix ICS AOKP ROM v.1.8.1 on my unlocked Galaxy S II i9100 a couple of days ago after factory resetting it, wiping the SD card, cache, etc.; completely getting rid of everything from the previous Resurrection Remix ICS ROM I had on there before.
Spent a lot of time customizing it over the past couple of days and not had any problems. I have a UK GiffGaff SIM which runs on the 02 network. There is a GiffGaff app on the Play Store that copies the correct information into your clipboard so that you can go through the steps of creating an APN easy as pie. However, whenever I go to Settings/More/Mobile networks a dialog box immediately pops up stating "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped." and puts me back to my app drawer. I spent a while trying to fix it, then loaded up the Play Store to look for APN apps, but whenever I try to download an app it comes up with the same message above with "Settings" replaced with "Google Play Store".
I've literally spent hours and hours getting extremely frustrated and would be very appreciative of some help as I currently cannot send or receive texts or calls, cannot use the internet without Wi-Fi and cannot download any apps.
Things on the top of my head that I've tried are deleting the vending.apk (Play Store) in the system/app directory and copying another version of the store over, clearing caches of numerous apps, clearing Dalvik cache, wiping cache partition in CWM, restored some apps and settings from my Titanium Backup backup (which replaced some of my customization that I worked hours on ) and searched for ages for the APKs of some APN apps. I even wiped data/factory reset the phone a few minutes ago, but I still can't access Mobile networks to input the APN and now Google Play Store isn't even in my damn app list anymore!!
Can someone help please?
Edit: Managed to get the Play Store back, downloaded an APN app successfully, opened it and it force closes!
RESOLVED: If anyone else has similar problems, just download the ROM that's installed onto your phone, install it again, boot into CWM, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik cache, fix permissions and reboot! Thanks JJEgan and Sun90

Thanks for the reply! Do you mean downloading the ROM onto the phone, wiping all data and installing the ROM again?

Ohhhh myyyyyyyyy goddddddddd. I love you. Haha, downloaded and installed the ROM, now everything works completely fine!! Thank you so much I'll remember that tip for the future
By the way, are some of the textures and backgrounds in this ROM supposed to be.. messed up? Like, some menus such as Settings have completely dark checkered backgrounds which look ugly o_o And when I pull down the notification bar, there are a lot of blue diagonal textures which again, look ugly.
Is this just me or is it the ROM? If it's the ROM, are these textures being worked on?
Thanks again

Wow, I had no idea we could do this! Thanks a lot, haha, it all looks awesome now! One last thing if that's okay How can I customize what I see after pulling the notification bar down? I done a little Googling just now but kept finding apps that just customize the actual bar and not the bad textures after pulling it down.
Are there mods for that too?
Edit: Ah, will do! Thanks for informing me
2nd Edit: How do I close the thread?
Hi,
Sorry for posting here but I can't post in the development thread because I haven't reached 10 messages yet.
I would really appreciate it if someone could repost in the correct thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678430&page=13#
I have this ROM updated to the latest (1.3a + new kernel), I flashed it on my device after doing a full wipe.
Everytime I add an Agenda widget to the screen, it kills Touchwiz and I can't access that screen anymore (I get a FC).
I have flashed twice with full wipe, tried to fix permissions, clear cache and dalvik cache but nothing helps.
I would like to know if anyone else can reproduce the problem and if someone knows how to remove widget from the screen through the command line or by deleting a file?
The only way I found to fix it when it happens is to do another full wipe which is really annoying.
Thanks a lot for your help
Can anyone help? or at least post this bug in the development forum of this ROM?
Many thanks!
Managed to do it myself.
Thread can now be closed.
Hi guys,
I'm having this error "Unfortunately, Message has stopped." every time I try to delete a message that has an attachment on it. I'm not able to delete even the whole conversation without getting that error.
I have tried several procedures:
1. clear data on message on System app and by TB;
2. Delete all text messages by using SMS Backup & Restore. On this one it actually delete all messages except the ones that have attachment on it
I'm running AOKP Milestone 6 and I would appreciate any suggestion that may help me to solve this issue.
I know that a hard reset will fix this, but I am saving that to my last option.
Thank you.
Maybe try re-flashing Gapps or maybe just the Mms.apk? Delete cache and davlik cache before doing it obviously

Hi Crawshayi, thank you for your reply.
I tried re-flashing Gapps (20120429) and Mms.apk and nothing changed.
I also tried: cleaning cache and data (system app), hit "delete all msg" (MSN backup) and again, everything with attachment wont get deleted.
If I try one by one I get that:

h ttp://imageshack.us/a/img542/9947/screenshot2012100919141.png
(Sorry I cannot post links yet)
Frustrating, but I will not give up.
Hmm I don't know if this will make a difference, but the latest Gapps is 20120726 not 20120429. Get it from http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version/Google_Apps
Let me try that right now.
:fingers-crossed:

No, it did not work.
I tried to install the mms.apk from the AOKP - JB Build 4 and I got:
Parse error, there is a problem parsing the package

.
I'm not sure if that is compatible, but I'm googling a solution for that now.
Update:
I had to re-flash old Gapps (20120429) because a lot of stuffs were having "Parse errors" (Talk, maps...).
Update 10/13/12:
Flashed CM10 today and all bugged text messages disappeared. JB is running so smooth...
All fixed now.
Thanks Crawshayi for your help.
When I call someone or get a phone call i hear my ringtone or the ringing, but once it's been answered I hear nothing at all.
Using CM10 nov,11 update
Under 10 post so I can't pot in dev.
--Just check and the person on the other end can hear me just fine. I just can't hear them.
Are you using dastins gangnam style? Have you tried making sure all the volumes are up?

One of the first things I tried. Also after I reboot music apps force close and the second time it works fine.
Lol OK. Have you tried doing a cache and dalvik wipe along with a fix permission?

Try doing a full wipe and reflashing the rom to see if that works.

Did and I still can't hear but I can be heard perfectly clear.
Ok, by now if the issue has not been solved, then your only option now is to post three more posts somewhere in the general section. Then you will be able to post in the development section. At that point go to the gangnam style thread and post your issue with dastin. What recovery, kernel, what you have tried to do to fix your issue and post it with a logcat. If you do not know how to log cat. There's a app on google play called catlog reader. Download it and make a few phone calls with it to someone(ask if they can help with being a test call on your issue first). After that, go into catlog pause the log reader, then go to settings and look for the paste or copy section option and just place the beginning and ending bar where the issue is with the phone calls and copy it. It will make a folder in your sdcard called catlog. There you can post your catlog along with the nature of the problem on his thread. I apologize that I could not help you resolve your problem. Hopefully dastin can help fix the problem for you.

It has been resolved. I'm guessing it was bad flash. I re-downloaded the ROM and gapps. wiped and flashed. Started working as of then and as i was installing apps I would check to make sure it was still working. So it was wither a bad flash or a voicetalk.apk that i used to use.
Sorry for making a new thread, apparently I don't have authorization to post on the cm10.2 devolpmwnt page. For some reason I get a crazy message app wakelock that I am unable to track down. I have cleared cache and dalvik. What could it be?
