I recently rooted my xperia live n I face one problem that everytime I install a ROM recovery gets deleted..is there any solution?
I asume You have locked bootloader. So recovery is installed somewhere in phone internal memory. So when You wipe Your data (system, data partitions) You also delete recovery. The only solution is to unlock bootloader and use custom kernel with built-in recovery.
Bolussimo is right..
I hav the same fone and had the same problm until i contacted a developer personally and got this matter solved..
Install xparts from market.. U can easily install recovery each time u flash a new custom rom..

Yes, service menu works only on stock and stock-based ROMs (at least it should).

It works really well, except... for installing ROMs ('cause most if not all of them expect that your bootloader is unlocked).
You can use this for:
- nandroid backup
- flashing anything other than full ROMs
- clearing battery stats etc
Can we flash custom kernels using this app for se live with walkman
no. you need unlocked bootloader.
The status of my bootloader says: bootloader unlock allowed - no. What method can i use? the test point method or will the official unlock method work?
you need to network unlock means sim unlock via setool or wotanserver first and its paid.
and read rules before posting. post in correct section. this thread in for CWM installation not bootloader unlock.
Oh ok. I hit thanks by the way
I want to Flash custom Kernels in my phone which is a wt19i . Can someone tell me how to do that
There are many post that teach you this.
First unlock your bootloader and you can flash the boot.img or ftf with either fasrboot or flashtool

SE Bootloader Unlocking v1.6 by quangnhut123
hope this helps!
It's your phone sim locked?
If it is then: do you have access to fastboot mode?? ( turn off your phone hold the volume up key and connect the phone to your computer without letting go of the key, the notification led should turn blue. That is fastboot.)
If yes then you will need to unlock your bootloader either the official way here http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com or the test point method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285285.
If you don't have access to fastboot then you will need to simunlock your phone first and as of what I know and at this moment you will need to pay for it.
Once you unlocked your bootloader you have to flash the kernel of your choice using flashtool here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351309

well i know of people able to go into fastboot with locked bootloader the problem is when you have a sim lock and the bootloader unlock allowed: no message in the service menu then you will have to pay to unlock the sim along with the fastboot.

Download and install it where ever you want it then folk the steps below
1) go to the flashtool folder and there will be a sub folder called 'driver" install drivers from it.
2) plug your phone after enabling android/USB debugging (settings -> apps-> development-> android/usb debugging)
3) plug your phone to the laptop while flashtool running
4) flashtool will recognise the phone and give you some info..
5) you will see plugin tab in flashtool (similar to home, insert tabs in MSword)
6) if your phone is not unlocked then it will show a drop down menu and as far as I remember its the second option which does the unloking)

Hello!, I am new on this kind of stuff, but basically my question how do I know if the bootloader is unlock or locked? I type the code in the dialer and I take this screenshot? What does it means? Bootloader unlocked allowed: Yes
Thanks!
if it says bootloader unlocked allowed:yes..it means that u can unlock the bootloader...not that its already unlocked or anythin..and if u havnt messed with your phone..then u're bootloader is probly locked..

Try flashing a custom kernel. When you succeed your bootloader is unlocked otherwise it isnt.
I unlocked my bootloader via testpoint and service menu still says that it is unlockable although it still is.
When you unlock via Sony method you status will change to bootloader unlocked: yes

Wont it result in bootloops or something?
Hi,
Flashing a kernel of different ROM on a phone that is still BL locked will result in Bootloops i guess :silly: !!
Your thoughts?

No. Trying to flash a custom kernel on a locked bootloader won't work. The flashtool you are using will give you an error message. Nothing will be flashed and the phone should still be fine.
If on gb then of course flash an gb kernel. Ics and jb the same.

Hello,
is it possible to relock bootloader after ulocking it? I need it due to the warranty.
in short, No. please search the forum for details, as this is discussed.
i suggest you just try the luck sending the phone in and not mention anythong about the bootloader. of course should flash to stock rom if that still can be done

Why you want the warranty? Want to sell it later? Or did it already got any fault?

I think, he did not say he is sending to service center. He just said he needs it for warranty (in future).
See how smart these new pals are. May be we are all idiots to unlock it without giving a second thought. lolz
I do not have yet any fault, I just want to try alternative rom and I want to have way back to stock rom
My last phone had after 3 month of use some problem and I must return it. So I just want to know if it is possible
I thought that flashing the stock u-boot & x-boot will re-lock the bootloader.

Maybe this should be in a sticky post somewhere. I have seen a few people ask about re-locking the bootloader.
If this works, we should start collecting u-boot & x-boot images.
There is no way to relock bootloader. Here is good post about bootloader and omap4430, it applies to L9s. In our case ics xloader ,uboot or both simply don't recognize that bootloader had been unlocked and it just appears locked.
I see. Thanks you.
So, you guys with unlocked bootloader, have no problem with fact that your devices have no warranty?
If you don't mention the unlocked bootloader to the customer service and your device has an unrooted stock ROM, there is only a few chance that they check the bootloader if it is for an hardware issue.
It only requires a little bit luck .
If i will make root by this:

cwm requires unlocked bootloader
I think you need to install the "CWM Recovery" bootloader to flash a custom ROM. And with a locked bootloader, you can only have a bootloader signed by LG (not a "CWM Recovery" one).
However, you can try this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095825
It is a "CWM Recovery" which is not directly placed inside the bootloader (instead, it adds a step on Android start). When I tried it on my P760 (when it still had a locked bootloader), it failed (but you can still try).

Actually that recovery will not work on jb,
Ok, that's why it failed for me.
Now, you have your answer, you must stay on ICS if you wish to keep your bootloader locked with CWM Recovery.
However, I would be curious to know what happens if a JB ROM (custom or stock) is installed through using this "locked bootloader CWM Recovery".

I received "Security Error" when attempting to boot when I tried this a while back. It just won't work because the kernel needs to be signed by LG.
So may I at least root phone or even root is not possible without unlocked bootloader?
