If you have a single file firmware, try the Odin flash again......but this time, put the file in pda.......don't touch pit or repartition though.....good luck
Edit.....are you using a firmware specifically for your device model?

Probably best not to try to extract parts of the firmware to flash individually......just extract the whole package to tar format.....then flash it in PDA via Odin......
And if your phone isn't rooted then stock firmware flashing is all you can do........

hi guys i am in a very bad situation my friend asked me to put hebrew on his galaxy s 2 , so as a good friend i tried to help him idownloaded the orange zip file and use odin to flash it and now it got stuck on the boot screen i can go into download mode but i dont know how to bring it back to life
please help
thanks
Zip files are not meant for ODIN.
ODIN normally flashes tar files which has only the necessary files and no scripts inside.
Clockworkmod is used to flash zip files.
I think you used PDA button on ODIN to flash *.zip file.
Find a kernel with cwm , codeworkx's kernel or siyah kernel.
Flash using PDA of odin.
If it doesn't work, flash an entire stock rom using odin, download from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Then flash a kernel with cwm, and flash hebrew zip in recovery
thanks for the reply I have one more question do I need a USB jig and also what custom binary count for mine says 2
is that a problem
If you can get into download mode, you don't need a jig. The binary count shows the number of times you flashed from download mode. It's not a problem, but it's a proof that you did, and it probably means your phone lost its warranty.
You dont need a jig if you can get into download mode but it will reset the binary counter for warranty purposes

Well, some people put the .tar's inside a zip to compress it, so it might be a Odin file after all.
Open the zip file, and if there is just ONE file there, extract it and flash it with Odin. If there are alot of files/folders, it's for CWM
1-How can I flash a recovery .img file?
2-In Samsung devices, is there a fastboot mode?
My device is I9300
running JellyBean I9300XXDLJ1_I9300OJVDLJ1_I9300XXDLID
Kernel Perseus.alpha25
Device is rooted using cf-root 6.4
Already have CWM, but want to update
No fastboot and flash with Odin via your PC or mobile Odin (if you're already rooted)

I can flash it using Odin if it's a .tar file
I downloaded the latest recovery as .img file
Odin would not read it as I know
I used ''SGS3 International ToolKit v5.0'' to create flashable .tar file from the .img file.. but I got an error while flashing through Odin

I did that using 7-zip
compressed the .img file in .tar format, then flashed using Odin
thanks anyway
Does it really work with 7 zip ?

I tried using 7zip to create a tar out of my img file and tried to flash it via Odin, but Odin crashed every time I tried doing so. What where your steps? I'm trying to create a tar file from a cwm recovery.img
Cheers

Just flash the.img with mobile Odin
Got it somewhat randomly
I tried it again with several tar files (7zip, SGS III Toolbox, Mskip's provided tar file) but this time odin did not crash, it just did not do anything. Tried Odin3 1.85 then Odin3 3.07 but it wouldn't work, then i found this other Odin called "Odin3 0.07 for SGS III" and tried again with the file created with Toolbox and it worked! I then noticed the only difference in Settings with this other Odin was, that F. time-reset was ticked. Could that be the reason it worked ?
Cheers
So there's still no way of installing a recovery with fastboot.. ? Just making sure.
And from where do I get Odin?
edit: Well I guess I have my answer:
[...]>>Even for flashing the custom recovery like Clockworkmod recovery or TWRP recovery you will need this tool. androidlegend.com/odin-multi-downloader
can anyone c/d?
Just Download Rashr from the PS and flash CWM recovery.img with it and enjoy
i have my galaxy s3 from orange england i unlock it and root it i conect it with kies i fine in kis a new update after this update i dont fine the cwm icon only SU icon a month after this i instal an officiel rom from sammobile i like it 4.1.2 one week after this i reinstal the same rom and now my mobile cant take updates from kies or odin and i cant root it !!
anyhelp please ????
sorry for my bad english im talking french ..
my galaxy is GT-I9300
is your device rooted? if it is you should just follow the instructions
1.hold volume up + home + power buttons to see the recovery mode
2.intsall zip from sd card (for a custom rom)
if you want the official rom just use odin
1.download odin
2.plug the device in download mode (volume down + home + power)
3.add the official rom in pda section then click the start
if you think u have a u should be clear
Not sure what you mean by odin updates. Odin doesn't do updates. You find a rom yourself and flash using odin. I'm pretty sure kies doesn't let you update rooted phones.
I suggest the same as above. Try installing a custom rom through recovery. You may have flashed unrooted official rom which means you have to root it again to get supersu back.

Well writing in understandable English would be a thing to start with.
You cannot update a phone trough kies when it is rooted. Kies will abort the update and give you a message which tells your device is rooted.
I would suggest you try to get into recovery mode and restore a nandroid backup.
If that's not working try flashing an official rom trough odin and root your phone again afterwards.
You could aswell go to a nearby orange shop and ask a salesman to restore the official firmware. (they have all the packages there ).
sorry
Sorry for my bad english i flash an officiel firemware In odin from sammobile now when i try to updat my s3 in kies i cant and also when i try to flash the last firemwar kies stop on get pit for mapping !!! Itry to change usp ports nothing work
Don't use kies. Just use odin to flash whatever firmware you need.
You won't be able to update using kies as your device status will be "modified". You need to unroot and factory reset to get it back to official.
As for not being able to root your device, flash xxella firmware from sammobile and flash siyah 1.8.7 kernel in cwm recovery. I can verify that definitely works.

Im trying the xxell1 but again odin stop on get pit for mapping ! nothing working
My guess is your pit partition is messed up. I suggest you search for a way to sort the pit mapping problem. I've seen some people recommend downloading a pit file from sammobile for your firmware.
Otherwise you'll have to send it off to repair centre.

I need pit file for my firmware or for the newfirmware that i want to flash via odin ???

The one you want to flash. I think they're all the same. This is an inference from the fact that we don't use pit files when flashing new firmwares under normal circumstamces.

I have rooted my galaxy s3 gt-i9300, my phone details are
AP or PDA: I9300XXEMD3
CP: I9300XXEMA5
CSC: I9300OJVEMC1
PAK
I have downloaded the two files from the website
samsung-updates[dot]com/details/11748/Galaxy_S_3_International/GT-I9300/PAK/I9300XXEMD3.html
One file is kernel file odin flashable (in .tar format 5.2 mb in size) and second is the 1.2gb .tar file which I think is the ROM.
Could anyone tell me.
What is the kernel file odin flashable?
How to use these two files with odin to unroot my smartphone?

I have downloaded the two files
I9300XXEMD3_I9300OJVEMC1_I9300XXEMA5_HOME.tar.md5 (1.2gb in size)
KERNEL-PAK-I9300XXEMD3-1366706762.tar (5.2mb)
what to do with the second file
just flash this one file I9300XXEMD3_I9300OJVEMC1_I9300XXEMA5_HOME.tar.md5 (1.2gb in size) make sure to flash it in pda. this will unroot and install stock kernel system and recovery the second file you do not need. factory reset phone after flashing if it does not boot or continuous bootloop occurs
Follow the link to general > sticky roll-up. Read the 2 return to stock guides. 2nd one has better details about triangle away
