WEP Cracking with bcmon? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys
I wish to learn WEP cracking on android using the following: http://bcmon.blogspot.ca/
I have a SGHT989 running CM 10.1. Please could someone provide a simple tutorial. The monitor mode is working well for me... I can use all functions including running aerodump, wash, besside-ng and bcmon terminal. While running besside -ng, it even said to use aircrack to open a .cap file to see WEP key. I was not able to find this .cap file.
I would really appreciate some guidance.
Regards

Bump.. please help. If I can get this working, I will post a youtube video as to help others who may also be struggling.

location of *.cap file
I also just recently got bcmon running on my device (hisense sero 7 pro). After much searching through the sdcard and internal memory, I have all but concluded that besside-ng simply is not saving a .cap file.
Even though after running it on my old router it claimed it had a handshake and saved the information for the WPA key in WPA.cap.
I'm sure its something simple I'm just overlooking. Does anyone know where the cap file is stored? Or how to get besside-ng to save the cap file? I'd appreciate the help!
For future reference though, I'd like to add that I have not been able to get reaver for android GUI to work. It appears to activate monitor mode but keeps getting stuck when it waits for a beacon from the target device.

First you check that your android support to monitor mode. Because bcmon only supports monitor mode supported android.

[Q] Working Ad-Hoc for Gingerbread 2.3.4 - is it possible that nobody can solve it?!

Dear friends,
I have searched tens of forums and googled requested for a days,
but I didn't have chance that find any answer
And it seems that nobody speak so much about that problem here,
people are in race for newer and newer firmwares,
is it possible that nobody can't find the way to solve that problem and succeed to modify wpa_supplicant to work on new Gingerbread 2.3.4?
I can't belive that I have 500€ phone witout possibility to use ad-hoc WiFi at my home
Download this file - http://www.mediafire.com/?ap3alfyf2asu1ca
Disable the wifi...Copy-paste the file in system/bin using root explorer... reboot the phone...done, your phone running KG1 can connect to ad-hoc networks
oops.. i just tried on KG1. Didn't connect to an adhoc network setup with WEP.
I even set the properties of the file like:-
owner: Root Group: shell along with proper file permissions.
Still no working.
Huh, god knows, maybe it depends of type of installed ROM.
Galaxy S2, Lightning ROM 2.2, rooted, exchanged downloaded wpa-supplicant with original without changing any owner properties using Root Explorer and Mount R/W and R/O option,
and - it works, after reboot, sure.
I heard that gingerbread 2.3.x does not support ad-hoc wifi but froyo 2.2.x supports it!!!!
There is a file in the sticky thread. wtf it works fine. Im using it on M250S - 2.3.4
delete the file first ,than paste the new file back ,reboot
guys, is there any conclusion from this thread? i'm getting desperate too

Working on stock KG3, Litening(all versions),Villain(all versions), others i didn't test...
I tested using Bzeek wifi hotspot creator on windows Vista, if you can't connect to WEP, try Bzeek, its open network but password is needed to use it
I have the LG Optimus 3D and I wanted to use my old WinMo phone as an ad-hoc server. I searched a lot and finally found the solution:
First of all you need a rooted device.
Go to Market and install "ZT-180 Adhoc Switcher". Run this program everytime you want to connect to ad-hoc.
The device acting as server needs to have its SSID to "AndroidTether" and require no password.
Don't forget to revert back to "infrastructure" mode after ending your session otherwise you won't be able to connect to normal hotspots.
There is no guarantee that this will work on all devices. Just try and see...

[GUIDE] WIFI revere TETHER over Ad-hoc for WINDOWS and UBUNTU

This guide teaches you to reverse tether your Android phone via WiFi. That is, it allows you to use your Ethernet connection of PC on your Android phone. It is useful for those who do not have WiFi routers and data connection. So if you have unlimited data plan for your computer, why not share the connection with your phone?
I am not the developer of the files supplied
Requirements:-
1.Rooted Phone
2.Wifi enabled Laptop or PC
3.Root explorer or any other application which gives system access
4.File in the attachement
Procedure :-
Phone:
Download Wpa_supplicant.zip and extract "wpa_supplicant" from it, save it on your SD card.
Open Root Explorer, and grant it superuser access when asked for.
Navigate to system -> bin and long press on wpa_supplicant; Select copy, and paste the file into any folder on your SD card.
Now navigate to the file you downloaded, copy it in same way, and paste it back to system -> bin. Note, you might need to mount the system as R/W instead of R/O by pressing a button on the top just before pasting the file.
Reboot.
▬▬Ubuntu (Must work for other Linux Distros too)▬▬:
Open Network Connections
Goto Wireless tab, select add, and set the following:
SSID: <Any_name_you_like>
Mode: Ad hoc
Leave other things unchanged, and go to Ipv4 settings tab
Set method to Shared to other computers
Go to Wireless security tab and set Security to WEP 40/128 bit key and set key to a numeric password (or hexadecimal one).
Check the connect automatically box on top of the tabs and press Save.
Your Android phone must now detect this network, and you can establish the connection by using your security key.
▬▬Windows XP, Vista, 7▬▬
Download and Install Connectify from www . connectify.me/download-lite/
Start Connectify Hotspot by giving a name and password to your hotspot and selecting the Ethernet connection to share. Make sure the security type is WEP or Open.
Disable your firewall (Simply adding it to exceptions doesn't work for AVG at least)
Now your phone should be able to see the hotspot and establish the connection using the password set.
Known Issues :
1.Random disconnections (Very less frequency)
2.Disconnections due to screen lock / sleep on laptop
3.For me Security mode does not works
HIT THANKS IF IT WORKED

For windows, "virtual wifi router" -> Download is free, and imho better..
Do not download the installer version though

i think the problem is "wpa_supplicant" file. i moved my backup "wpa_supplicant" back to system/bin and now wifi works fine..
There is a much simpler way to reverse tether. Just search for the app in the play store. It's name is “reverse tether" it costs $4.99 but there's a trial version for testing purposes.

please read the thread before you post. That app works only on usb connection. and the op is discussing wireless tether. i don't think anybody would like to spend 5 dollars and then be physically tethered to the pc.
Also, this sites name is xda-developers, we are here to develop and find solutions. If you just wanted to buy 5 dollar apps, then why visit here?
so other people can get it to work? i wonder why doesn't it work for me, tried it again but still facing the same problem, i'm on arconium gb 8.2 and doom kernel v22 :/

u r attaching the binary file
i tried this several times with several file source ALWAYS FAIL(i didn't try yours)
maybe the the wpa_supplicant.conf file , that located in /etc/wifi/
or the other one located in /data/misc/wifi
r regenerating the binary file the wrong way so it overwritten
is it possible to attach above mention file so we can follow same
NOTE:THIS FILE CONTAIN UR WIRELESS NETWORK PASSWORDS U CAN REPLACE IT WITH *****
Why not just use connectify?

Just activade it at developers settings
Pull with ABD the file
/data/misc/wifi/ wpa_supplicant.conf
to your PC. There are saved all wifi-passwords

If you need to recover the pass directly from the device, you need root. There aren't any other way.
Sounds suspicious to me!
If it's a work phone why do you need the wifi password?
If it's already connected why do you need to know the password?
Why don't you just ask your network admin the password if you are allowed access?
Please explain yourself before I report you..

Oh ho.. cool man.. we are in need to test an application which needs internet.. earlier we got the password for a wireless network used by the adjacent team in one of our device.. now my manager is reluctant again going back to them begging for the password.. so he asked me any other way.. even i know how to do it when the device is rooted, but unfortunately the device is not rooted and i cant root it since its not mine.. and there is no adb setup available as well..anyways we got the password..this time he sent me to beg for it..

Wifi passwords are encrypted on my S4 4.3!
Am I the only person that has thier Wifi passwords are encrypted in thier "wpa_supplicant.con" file by default. If not does anyone know how to have it decrypted by default so I could see my wifi passwords. Thanx
worked like a charm on my original tab 1
Used Wifi Key Recovery and never had problems, got the HTC M8 and now when i open the app it show zero protected networks, even though i am on wifi, changed over to Wifi Password Recovery, this one does show all the networks i have logged into but when i press on one of them to get the password, i get HTC=ENCRYPTION:then bunch of letters, non of which are the passwords. Can this be disabled in the HTC, or is it a 4.4.2 issue. Thanks in advance for your help.

I've yet to find any solution to be able to see the passwords, even is i use /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf, they are still encrypted btw, love the motogp avatar
I found the keys but they are in Hex format. Even with the usage of a an escape (0x) the wireless card fails to connect using these 24 long passwords.
Does it mean they are encrypted? if so how to decrypt.

Yes, they are encypted. How to decrypt? hard to know before know what type of encryption they use, the result of encryption is a number show in hex... maybe transforming into pure binary and then transforming on something could work... but I really dont know... maybe is just a new type of encryption and the only way to decrypt is to create multiple password you know the result and compare the hex tags.
Hope someone could help us to avoid that kind of work xD

[Q] Galaxy S3 - Read web requests or apk decrypt?

I was wondering if there's a way to read the data being sent from my phone.
There is app that I'm working with and I need to read what kind of requests it makes (eg. Either GET or POST and where)
I installed Charles and Fiddler but the app doesn't load fully. I also did a TCP dump, and nothing.
If this is not possible, is it possible to fully decrypt and apk?
I used apk to java but I get a bunch of errors when I load the output on eclipse. It looks like there are code missing.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
PS: Yes, I did search before posting.

IPC8600 CCTV Tester - apps?

Hi Guys
I have a IPC8600 CCTV tester that run Android of some version - probably 4.4 or there abouts.
The apps that the manufacturer provides, when he does, have a TLW extension, not the usual APK.
Has anyone heard of that file format?
The device ignores any APK apps - I have thought of just renaming and trying but thought to ask before doing anything silly!
Thanks in advance

Hy David. I myself own an IPC Tester and by mistake I unistalled an app (ip-discovery) and now I cant reinstall it. Technical support is very low or inexistent but I found a few apps with TLW extension. I have some more aps with pc2 extension that work on another ipc tester. I can provide you some of them if it helps. Maybe you have some too

Hello friend, I am reading about your problem with the IPC8600 CCTV tester, and I want to ask you, have you tried Ajax systems? I had a similar problem with an old camera at the entrance of my house but when I updated with the new software (I installed Ajax system) to be able to see all my cameras at the same time on my mobile, I think that updating solved my issue, I suspect that something similar may be happening to you, I do not know if there is any other way to fix it or what is the technical nature of the problem but that solution worked for me
Software update
www.cctvtester.com
This is the link to the IPC 9800ADH plus firmware.
1. Remove the SD Card
2. Connect SD to laptop
3. Place APK file in Update folder
4. Place SD with Updated APK in the CCTV Tester.
5. Boot/Power-up the device.
This automatically updates the unit.
I would imagine you can place new apps in other folders doing the same.
This fixed my "No Touchscreen" problem.
Hi Guys,
We have also IPC8600 and after a factory default the tester starts but no icons-apps at the menus.
We try with <<Place SD with Updated APK in the CCTV Tester>> as @John Mulvihill suggest but does not This automatically updates the unit.
Also we found that with POWER + Menu + Zoom Key the tester goes to recovery mode....
We see the Android logo and say Installing System Update... But after 5' restart and we dont have anything again... no icons-apps at the menus.
Any help?
Hi Guys,
After alot of tries I manage to restore my device by making folder inside sdcard called wlt and inside I put a file called wipedata. Basically is a txt file that inside have a line only that right wipedata... without the file extesion .txt. After that recovery mode by power + menu + zoom and after 6' the device start with all the apps and menu.
Maybe someone will use it at the future.
Thanks.

I have a IPC-8600. Screen went black while enabling POE output. When connection the HDMI to a monitor the IPC is booting with Installing system update message and the andriod logo. Somethimes it boots with the start screen but I can't select anything (only picture on external monitor). Tried the SD card with wipedata no result. Do I have to put any command in the wipedata file? I think the flash memory is damaged. Thanks
After few hours the IPC booted normal again but the network interface doesn't work anymore. The IC behind the network port is realy HOT ! The IPC is useles this way.
I know this is an old thread, but I pulled out my IPC8600 with the hopes of making it more useful and had some success. I was about to drop APK files for Android 4.4 into the update folder, install them from the files app and they worked! Android 5.0 APKs do not work. So far I have working (arm versions):
- Hik-Connect - com.hikvision.hikconnect_4.14.1.0407-115_minAPI19(arm64-v8a,armeabi-v7a)
- Chrome - com.android.chrome_74.0.3729.112-372911200_minAPI19(armeabi-v7a)
- Firefox - org.mozilla.firefox_68.11.0-2015711849_minAPI16
- Fing (network scanner) - com.overlook.android.fing_8.2.4-8241_minAPI16(arm64-v8a,armeabi,armeabi-v7a,mips,mips64,x86,x86_64)
- Network Scanner - Network Scanner_2.6.6_apkcombo.com
As you can imagine, I'm pretty happy with the results. I was not able to get Google play store and services working, but that's not really necessary as side-loading from the SD card (with the right app version) is easy.
Thanks.
