make sure that you have installed htc sync manager in your pc,
download adb package
then fastboot flash boot boot.img
usually, boot.img you need is in the zip of the custom rom

Did you follow globatron's guide for Honeycomb and s-off?
If so, why didn't you just flash the ROM zip file in recovery?
Edit: Okay, I see, did you flash the ROM zip first, then fastboot flash the boot image?

If you get into problems with ROMs/flashing, it is essential to include your hboot version in the information you give. Without this nobody can tell you how to proceed.
Got my Desire X yesterday and unable to install the software update pushed on phone from HTC (its a brand new phone non-rooted) because stock recovery is damaged (In my country we do not have phone warranty, so unable to send it to HTC for repair). I have stock recovery.img downloaded from another thread. Kindly guide me how to flash this file(recovery.img) to my phone........
Thanks.
Find fastboot binaries.
Boot phone in fastboot mode.
Then use,
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Done
Regards
Yasir
P.S, your boot loader must be unlocked for above.

you should always make a nandroid backup of your current rom before flashing a new one so you can return if anything goes wrong. right now there are a couple of choices you can make. you can either flash a rom which works with your hboot or you can RUU back to stock.
If you want to run an RUU then you need to relock your bootloader first. boot into fastboot and type "fastboot oem lock" in cmd. then run RUU.
if you wish to install a different rom then first of all change your recovery to 4ext
extract zip file and flash recovery.img like you flashed cwm recovery. then boot into recovery and turn on smartflash in options (this is important as you are s-on. this will flash boot.img for you)
after that wipe everything except sdcard and flash a sense based rom
I don't think you can run ruu. 1.58 hboot is from the latest update, and afaik the ruu will only work on phones that did not take that update, unless you were s off.
You need to flash a stock Rom such as harmonia.
You may need to flash boot.IMG through fastboot to get out of bootloop.
And yes, you should definitely install 4ext recovery, and make sure smartflash is enabled

i tried flashing recovery...
i tried flashing recovery but cwm stayed it wont change
Make sure the 4ext recovery.IMG is the only recovery.IMG in your SDK tools folder.
Other than that, I can't help

I Successfully flashed recovery but i cant install Custom Roms !!! I Dont know why.
Extract the boot.img from your new custom ROM.zip and put it in your adb platform tools folder, Switch on the phone in fastboot, type the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and install the new rom. Again goto fastboot and flash the boot.img again.

Can i flash the kernel (boot.img) without S-off or root ? I Only Unlocked it and flashed CWM ... If I flashed boot.img My Device won't be bricked ?
Dear, it is for those who are on S-ON, you don't need to extract boot and flash it in fastboot if you were S-OFF. Use latest 4ext recovery.

How can I install the new rom when I can't get into recovery. my phone just keeps rebooting or gives a black screen
Even when i try to flash a new recovery like 4ext or CWM I can't get the phone to boot to recovery
Hello,
I have a question ... can we root Htc One X+ from FASTBOOT , that is installing the rooting .zip file from the FASTBOOT rather than flashing the zip from CWR or TWRP...
AFAIK no. without S-off we don't have permission to flash unsigned .zips from fastboot.
Although you could build your own pre-rooted kernel and flash that from fastboot....

Well I do have S-OFF on my device (dev phone) .. so in that case is it possible to just flash the zip.. and also by doing this can I permanently harm my device.
