Does anyone know if there will be a ROM update for the HTC Hero that is available from Hutchinson 3 UK?
Thanks
Presumably yes but HTC Hero 3 branded is very new at the time of writing so we will have to wait. It is basically same thing as eg Orange or T Mobile with there own spash screen and perhaps home page. There may be Planet 3 , I dont know , only 3 users can tell us here.
3 Branded
I have 3's HTC Hero. There is no splash screen or any branding apart from 2 shortcuts on the homescreen(which you can easily remove) to Planet3 and 3favourites. Does anyone know whhther 3's Hero is running the latest version of HTC's Sense or is it still running the first version?
Thank you for info.
You can check that by going to settings>> scroll down>> About phone or something like that.
I think this thread should have been placed in General section.
Software Version
My software version is 1.0.0.A6288 or something like that. What is the latest one?
Don't look at the software version - look at the build number. If it starts 2.73, you are effectively on the latest firmware.
Regards,
Dave
@yusufdaud - did you get any specific software for 3 network by any chance? (ie skype, msn or anything)?
3 Software
Didn't come with Skype or WLM preinstalled. According to Three's website it should have Skype out of the box though.
WLM to be launched soon according to three portal which will also be totally free like skype.
I think other network subscribers are going to be jealous
@yusufdaud - can you confirm the firmware number on your hero? Thanks
I am having some major issues with this.
I bought a Hero from Amazon last month, not knowing that it would be packaged and released by Three Uk, so essentially I have setup everything : I now have internet etc.
I am a Three user however, so when I called the Customer Support (HA!) line they said I should be able to install the skype client once they release their packaged phone this month.
I was able to install the skype client this morning, which, as it was on my old 3 phone, worked perfectly with using any of my minutes.
The issue I know have is that it does not put the phone back to sleep, even after I removed the installation and power cycled my phone... it is awake 100% of the time even after skype has been removed and my power usage has suffered as a result.
Does anyone have any ideas how to remedy this? I am a complete noob when it comes to this :<
Firmware
Firmware Version - 1.5
Build Number - 2.73.771.62
Software Version - 1.0.0.A6288
Thanks yusufdaud - Seems like 3 UK ship the Hero with the latest version of the firmware
Unlock
Anyone know anyway to unlock 3's Hero? I called Three yesterday night and they told me I couldn't get a code from then until the contract finishes.
yusufdaud:
when some calls you on Skype, does it show the contact who is calling?
i bought my Hero before it was released on 3 and downloaded the official Skype client via Planet 3 but mine always says "Skype Service" instead of the person who is calling. a guy in the Richmond shop told me if i had bought the handset from 3 it would work properly. sounds like nonsense to me.
I have unbranded Hero from yesterday and before that an unlocked orange branded. Both worked very well with Skype on 3. Including caller ID.
Is it related to radio rom? You can update radio easily on rooted one but not sure about "virgin" Hero.
I actually updated the radio before Skype on 3 was released. My radio version is 63.18.55.06FU_6.35.07.08 - I just tried updating it to 63.18.55.06IU_6.35.08.22 and had some interesting results. Now Skype won't work at all - i get a message saying "Skype couldn't connect over your phone connection." (tried uninstalling and re-installing too but that made no difference.)
However, it's the first time i've ever seen all four bars on my signal so that at least is a slight improvement.
Don't know why it wasn't connecting before but it is now. However, it's still not showing the caller.
@Lord Lucan
Can you tell me your Rom and Radio versions please? I tried a 2.73.405.38 rooted ROM (the HTC Generic one) off MoDaCo but still didn't get caller id.
Thanks.
skype on 3 is still in beta testing for HTC hero. both msn live and skype need to be downloaded to the phone from planet 3.
Hi all
This is a question that relates to the Orange UK Branded HTC 7 Mozart.
Has anybody with this variant installed the Beta 2 Mango Test Update? If so, can you please say whether or not you still had access to the Orange branded apps, e.g. Orange Maps?
This is something of a deal breaker for me.
Thanks
andrew-in-woking
yes and no
Ok so as a Student, i installed the tools today.
It works perfectly (beta quality of course) on the Mozart.
The orange branding does indeed disapear. However if you have already installed the orange apps before upgrading they will not delete themselves.
Hope this helps!
Edit: actually it keeps Orange UK orange colour as a theme. All i can see that is still there!
Edit 2: weird restarted and orange selects are back! but like the htc apps can't be accessed. However search for them manually and they work fine.
So i think you are safe
Hi all,
Like many others I had issues after the 4.3 rollout last week - lag on unlock, Bluetooth, general lag. But I noticed something else as well that I cant find an answer to. Prior to the 4.3 upgrade the phone displayed "EE" for the carrier as I was previously an Orange customer. But after the reboot the carrier information is showing as "T-MOBILE [email protected]@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@". The phone and data was functioning fine it was only the carrier name that seemed to be the issue (disregarding the other issues that came with 4.3). I went into the manual settings and searched for the available networks and could see Orange, T-Mobile, O2 etc but no EE. If I select Orange it still shows as T-MOBILE [email protected]@@@@@@ but when connected to my in-car Bluetooth it shows as Orange.
Screenshot attached.
I decided the best way to get rid of the lag problems and try and correct the carrier issue was to flash CM10.2 . Flash went fine and I held my breath as it rebooted......but no the carrier is still displayed as "T-MOBILE [email protected]@@@@@@@@@@".
I called Orange yesterday and they said from their end everything looked ok but they did send me a SIM update in hope that it would be corrected....but that didn't work either.
So now I'm at a loss with it - as I said phone functions fine and data is fine - but just an annoyance. Must stress it was like this before CM10.2 was applied and the phone was fully stock before I flashed it.
Any help appreciated.
Also - loving CM10.2 - quick, good battery life, nice features.
HI All,
nearly a week now and no sign of EE resolving the issue - is anyone seeing this issue since 4.3 upgrade - or am I just particularly unlucky ??

Reading that as a faulty update .
CSC may have changed your network name but above is not in any CSC i have ever seen .
I was promoted and installed the Black update on my ATT 920 which was flashed to a Rogers ROM then back to the ATT DEV ROM. Not sure if its available for the normal ATT 920 Black via OTA yet or not but seems to be listed on the download too for both product codes in NCS if anyone's up for manually flashing it.
All in all, not to bad for ATT this round, only a week or two behind everyone else as apposed to the 3-4 months last time.

Thank u guys...
I will try to update my existing European(French) ROM by OTA or by NSU..
And guys if any of you get the latest Lumia Black ROM(Indian Version) download link for offline flashing, then please let me know.
It fixed my wireless charging issues and added custom notifications for SMS and email. So far it's all good for me.
The only real app update I got was to the Preview for Developers app as well as Skype. The first not really doing anything yet, but looks like its in preparation for the next release. haven't really tested Skype yet. Though I did have a bunch of updates when I initially loaded the Preview for Developer app and updated to GDR3.
Still having some minor issues with controlling the volume on what appears to be single channel audio podcast. But nothing a reboot doesn't fix.
To delete.
Anyone able to flash the official AT&T Black update OVER the Amber Dev ROM? Tried but getting the FFU error.

If your Hardware Product Code is that AT&T, so then try to update the Product Code with NSU, for example.
Not a Lumia 920 owner, but have the Lumia 928 and it too got the update.
I just love how sexy this phone is. Sadly because its a Verizon exclusive (Unlocked) it isn't perfect on MVNO. Works great on T-mobile except that to send messages you have to set it to EDGE.
Works perfect on Net10, internet, SMS, MMS
Almost perfect on H2O, internet, SMS, (can't receive mms)
So I have it as my spare/secondary device. Can't wait to see how it WP8.1 comes out. My main device is Nexus 5, but just love how cool and minimalist the Lumia is.
Anyone had any luck enabling it?

Well, isnt it a feature depending on your carrier (firmware)?
Gesendet von meinem E5823 mit Tapatalk
Yes this is carrier specific.
They will supply an app on Play if so.
Works on EE in the UK, it's a menu setting not an app.
Where exactly is the menu setting for wifi calling? I can't seem to find it on mine. If it matters, I got the Taiwan version of the phone and am with MetroPCS in the States.
For me it's in settings, under device, call. UK EE.
I am on EE and purchased my phone from Handtek hence preloaded with European Generic Stock firmware.
I can only assume @ewans has purchased the device from EE directly, which would have the EE branded Stock firmware which would have that setting built in by the carrier/EE.
I read when researching why I hadn't got this WiFi calling setting that carriers would be sending out firmware updates with these new settings (this finding is based on a different phone but the principle of carrier providing the update must be telling.) Looks like Sony stock unbranded firmware excludes this feature.

Yes, directly from EE.
Guess this confirms it (image attached.)
You require a carrier stock Sony firmware to obtain the feature.
If desperate for native WiFi calling with your carrier then you would need to update your Sony firmware to run your carriers version of it.
As long as your carrier supports WiFi calling and has the z5c officially supported like EE has then you will source the carrier firmware in xperiafirm.
The sacrifice clearly will be the added bloatware you will get with a carrier branded stock firmware.
Yep. I figured out that this was a carrier feature on my own probably around the time you mentioned it here. That sucks, cause my carrier, MetroPCS, has wi-fi calling available, but are highly unlikely to carry the Z5. Dang.
An alternative if you're in the US is to install Google Hangouts Dialer and get a Google Voice number. I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile here in the states, so I just ported my old Verizon number to Google Voice for a one time, $20 fee. With Hangouts Dialer, calls to US numbers are free, and if you're on Wifi, you can receive calls using your Google Voice number.

That picture displays a "T-Mobile" option. That makes me think that there is a chance wifi calling works on the T-Mobile network. Can anyone confirm this? If so, I will be purchasing this phone ASAP.
T-Mobile's website confirms that they do wi-fi calling. At least here in the States.

I know that they have wifi calling but I am 90% sure that this only applies to devices that they sell themselves. (Meaning that unlocked devices such as the Z5C will not have the wifi option). I just find it interesting that the phone itself has an option to select T-Mobile wifi calling if T-Mobile has had no plans to support it. Wouldn't Sony have removed this from the list if it wasn't compatible? Maybe there is hope for the future.
T-Mobile is also a carrier in Europe. The link in the previous screenshot might be referring to the places in Europe that carry the T-Mobile branded z5c. There appears to be a version of the firmware that is for T-Mobile on Xperifirm:
Maybe someone in the US on T-Mobile can try that out and see if there is wifi calling enabled? I am on the .32 firmware and don't want to revert back.
I flashed to T-Mobile Austria, and no luck on the wi-fi calling feature. Doesn't show up on the menu it should.
Hello, I'm on ee new phone but despite carrier saying they have activated and recent update I don't have this option. Those that do, are there Sip settings if so can you share them
EE Stock Firmware
I know this is counter intuitive to most on here but i want to go back to EE firmware.
I work in a Low reception office so WiFi calling had been a dream come true rather than running around the office trying to find signal. I also live in a 4G+ area which was also wonderful so I would like to get both back (broke phone and insurance have sent me an unbranded one with Stock firmware) so does anyone know where I can get the Stock EE Firmware I can flash via Sony's Flashtool?
I've searched google for 2 days and all I can find it posts and discussions on the newest stock update and/or rooting neither of which I want.
Thanks in advance.

This is something I am very much interested in as well, for similar reasons. I wondered if you made any progress on working out a process.
