Hope its helpful to someone
Thanks for your time, if its not too much of a bother please do leave feedback on how I can improve my videos.
Thanks again

The Mega beats the ascend no doubt about it but is the margin of victory worth $150+ thats the reason why people should consider the Mate
Here in the Uk the price of the Mega and the Mate is almost the same so it's a no brainer.
Advantages of the Mega 6.3:
* Has LTE (i9205)
* Has IR blaster for universal remote
* Has removable battery
* Has better support for updates and warranty from Samsung
* Can be operated even when wearing gloves
* Bigger screen (6.3 inches vs 6.1 inches)
* Thinner body (8mm vs 9.9mm)
* Off screen buttons so actual usable screen/resolution is higher
* Has video out (MHL and wireless mirroring)
* Has USB OTG support
* Newer version of Android out of the box
* Has Wifi ac
* Has NFC
* Has Glonass support for GPS
* Better camera (bigger FOV and better UI)
* Better image and video quality
* Better resale value
* More accessories available
* Better performance due to newer architecture (Krait)
* More features out of the box (multi window, air view/hover, smart stay, adapt sound, etc)
Even at $150 extra it's worth it for the advantages plus you will get more when you sell the Mega off.

The Ascend Mate is actually more expensive than the Galaxy Mega in some places in the UK, most have them at the same price of around £335-£340 sim free.
/edit just read gx3ks post above, he said pretty much the same thing.

Ha! I would be upset if I had bought the Huawei.
In Malaysia, the retail price for both devices are the same - £290, but I got my Mega for £260.

Is it a good phone to buy or should i go for another??
Go for widely supported devices. SGS2 is pretty much on the same price range as the phones you mentioned AND it has good dev support.
I agree with cepcamba, its a little frustrating to have an unsupported device.
In my country the gs2 cost around 200$ more than the huawei

What about the original Galaxy S? It has a better GPU and a wide dev support.
As owner of this phone i can say that it is really good for its price. But it has one minus- most of the users come from Russia, Germanny and China, whitch means less support if you are from other country.
It is at the same range as htc desire hd, optimus 2x (they get almost identificial benchmark scores).
If you dont mind small english community go for this phone, you wont be dissapointed nice looks, great camera, adreno 205 (the same as xperia play, it means you will be able to play most of the games), ICS, flash light, led light, fast, sound is perfect and VERY NICE BATTERY. I wouldnt change mah phone to any of lg phones... just saying. Honor is better than galaxy s. You may check out phone comparitions.
Honor is good phone.. runs even better after updating with custom roms
I'm getting tired of waiting for the G4A and all the others that seem will never come out so I have a basic question
Where can I get a 6589 phone with decent specs (4.5" or more, 720p, gorilla glass, 2000+ battery) with a good build quality and good factory and community support and that is actually available and ready to ship and not yet another undisclosed presale that never ends?
Thanks
PS: extra points for any alternatives like that LA-Q1 phone that is impossible to find at not-crazy prices

I was gonna do the same, but then I saw this:
http://youtu.be/T7UKuNms6ug?t=23m30s
Something strange happens...
Also - see how long does it take for AnTuTu tu finish with SD Card Write test.
STAR made some of my favorite (and cheapest) phones in the past, but their quality control seems to be really poor.
i love cheap, but?
I'm really keen to get either the umi x1s (prob will get this one) or the flying f600.
I'd love to take a gamble on the f600 as it's so cheap, but I cant find any reviews of videos on it at all. So I think I will settle with umi x1s.
Or should I wait a little longer for the galaxy s4 (real and clones) to push the price down???
Also "IcedFlame" are you referring to the CPU test where two core seem to be failing in that video as the "strange thing"?
I grabbed a iNew i2000 from geekbuying last week at $258.99. It's now on sale for $239.00 and in stock.

MTK6589, 5.7" IPS 720p, 1GB ram, 8GB nand
I like it so far. I've also posted a quick review at http://www.armtvtech.com/armtvtechforum/viewtopic.php?f=214&t=1877
There's also plenty of videos about it on youtube.
It's getting 4.2 pretty soon.
There is root and cwm available for it too.

Hard to believe
Anyone notice that the actual res on the phones are different to whats stated.
The f600 phone is supposed to be 960 x 540
but in the antutu screen shots its 854 x 480.
the phone is from AnteslifeDOTcom f600
That's why its better to stick with brands you know, there are lots of scammers in this industry because they know the average guy is not gonna bother shipping a phone all the way back to china for the warranty.
BTW check the butterfly and H9500 on PW: both show with 720p screens in both specs and antutu, are those numbers correct or the real specs are actually lower?
TBH my biggest problem with these phones is that good models are too expensive and if you can spend that much you could add a little more and get a Nexus.
Hi Guys,
Just thought I would add my 2 cents here.
Today I just received my Star S5 with the MTK6589 processor from Pandawil and so far I love it, build quality is better than expected, ROM had some items I uninstalled immediately which were Chinese apps.
Battery so far is brilliant (big battery 2500ma x 2) the screen is clear and bright and proper 1280 x 720 resolution.
Dual sims work perfectly here in Australia (only 1 runs 3g though)
Just run a AnTuTu test and got 13206.
Overall I am very impressed and bang for buck its great value!!

I'll put in my 2 cents also. Just recieved the phone this weekend.
The camera is real 8 MP at 4:3 ratio and 6 MP at 16:9 ratio. It intrapolates to 13 MP at 4:3 ratio. I think the quality of the pictures it takes is ok. It's nor great in house with little lighting, but it's better than a Jiayu G3. I haven't watched the pictures I took on my pc yet.
The video can shoot up to 1080 if you choose the highest quality.
I like the phone. It's a little bigger than a Jiayu G3 (the other chinese phone in our home) but it's no lightweight. I personally don't mind. It kind of makes it feel like it won't break anytime soon.
My GPS works after around 4-5 minutes outside so that's not a really great selling point. Works anyway so not a real problem.
I suspected the 13mp mode would be interpolated but no 16:9 8mp mode? That sucks, hope other models are better.
BTW did you guys hear about the G3S? I'm thinking Jiayu has some serious problems with the casing of the G4 as well and not just the ram.
And any news with the Play processor phones? They said there would be tons and I see nothing.
My favourites are ThL W8 and W8+ for now. Next week is is my decision to buy new phone. I will skip S5 and will not wait Jiayu G4. l also looked Goophone i9 but it is not useful to me with his gigantic 5,7" screen.

I don't want a smaller screen, looks like a note instead next time then!
I no was impressed with it as well as the specification and screen smaller than the 6.3.
Looks like I'm keeping the original mega for a while longer
This is going to be the longest I have had the same phone since Windows Mobile 5!
I am glad the Mega is well built though, it is doing very well considering the amount of use it gets.
I'd agree with you I've dropped it many times and its as good as the day I got it. The screen is perfect as is I don't care for 1080p etc if I want hires I'll use my retina macbook. Speed is fine for what I need so looks like I'll be spending the cash on an aoc 34 ultrawide monitor instead so all is good lol

Hey guys. I have a dump of the system.img of this Mega 2. It's deodexed. Just wondering if anyone is interested?
I have pushed and tried: Radio, Voice Recorder, and Clock.
So basically, they all behave just like the ones ported from S5 that I've tried before.
Clock just crashed.
Radio and Voice Recorder both work but the scaling is not right.

Whilst other phablet sized phones, have been up for grabs, since the Mega was released, a little over a year ago, none, in the mid price and specs range, come anywhere close, to ours, for everyday usage.
I am on the Stock 4.2.2 Rom, 64gb micro sd, and with Adobe Flash working adequately, when I need it, see no reason, to upgrade, if, or as and when, the chance arises.
This is certainly an exceptional all-round smartphone!
Well Done samsung!
Exactly and proves a point that specs really don't matter what they produced in the 6.3 is a great all rounder near perfect phone. A good balance of power and performance vs price ratio. Really is spot on. In a way they have shot themselves in the foot as many don't feel the need to upgrade.

Some websites writing the following :
it’s going to have a full metal body but looks similar to the previous model with the same slots for the volume, SIM card, etc… The size is believed to be around 7-inches as well, so it’s not going to be the type of handset you can easily tote around in your pocket – unless you have really big pockets.
The leaked Huawei MediaPad X2 specs is said to sport the aforementioned 7-inch display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200. It will get its power from a Kirin 925, and that will be backed up by 3GB of RAM. No other specs were given

8 inch is more convenient and not much bigger. And makes a difference from 5.5 inch phones, which were called phablets not long ago. If u want 3G/4G, there aren't many alternatives, usually. I still use the original Mediapad S7 with dualcore cpu, along with a much more powerful 10 inch tablet, which I won't use outside, as long as the MP does still its job.

An 8 inch phone is perfectly fine with me, But i'm not aware of any that have 3G/4G connectivity for making phone calls.
As my 10" Samsung Note 10.1 2014 is phone call capable, so should at least part of the smaller Notes and Pads. Though they are more expensive than Huawei stuff while having inferior build quality, like delicate plastic frames.

Lenovo Spark 8
http://shop.lenovo.com/gb/en/tablets/lenovo/s-series/s8/#tab-available_from
4G LTE with call capability, Intel Atom Quad Core Processor with 2GB ram, FHD IPS screen, microSD support, 4290mAh, rear camera has flash (torchlight! cant live without this function!), very attractively priced at ard $280-290
if i m ditching huawei X1, i will seriously consider this
Another gem to consider will be Asus Memopad 8
http://www.asus.com/sg/Tablets/ASUS_MeMO_Pad_8_ME581CL/
Similarly spec-ed as Lenovo Spark 8 on paper, but it has a 'better' screen in reality (very close to X1, imho, X1 has the best screen among the 3, that is the sole reason I m sticking with it atm, everytime it lights up, my eyes too!), AC wifi, but no rear camera flash; also sells for ard $280-290
latest reports indicate X2 will be officially unveiled at MWC 2015, and if the path of X1 is anything to follow, stocks will hit the chinese market ard June this year, let's see what huawei brings to the party!
One phone I'd consider, is the Sony Xperia Z3 compact. Has an 8" scren, which is kind of in that it is the "compact" of the 5.2" "normal Z3..
One major improvement is that the headphone jack is waterproof even without being covered.

I think u mean the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, that is the one having 8" screen; the Sony Xperia Z3 compact on the other hand has a 4.6" screen.
The tablet is a good device, but the price when compared to Huawei's, Lenovo's and Asus's offerings, is not that attractive if one is not looking for IP68 protection.
It is selling for abt $450.
The Sony Xperia Z3 compact which sports the same Snapdragon 801 chipset but with a lesser 2600mAh battery and half HD screen, is $25 less.
Oops! How could I have overlooked the tablet part.
Yes indeed, there is a premium to be paid for the name, IP68, and the extra inch.

Hi XDA!
Please excuse me if I haven't chosen the optimal forum to post this question on XDA. I'm happy for an admin to move it if there is a better place for it.
I'm wondering what the best smartphone is for under $200 in 2020? My requirements are:
* Decent camera
* MicroSD slot
* Headphone jack
* Unlockable bootloader
* Min 4 GB RAM
I would prefer a smaller phone but it seems phones under 6" are rare these days. It'd also ideally have a removable battery but I realise that is another feature missing from nearly all modern phones.
The best phone I've found so far for my budget that meets my requirements is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8. Might there be something better out there at a similar price point?
I post on other forums including phone forums and everyone who has bought a Xiaomi love them

I'm almost certain my next phone with be a Xiaomi
I've edited my first posts requirements list to say I want at least 4 GB RAM.
The only thing I'm not seen keen on with the note 8 is the notch. Why do phone manufacturers have to copy everything Apple does? At least it has a headphone jack and MicroSD slot so its not full-on Apple cloning.
