x10 mini pro / cm mod with recovery option - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

hi,
i got a phone that hasnt been tampered with yet and i would like to try cm7 but also be able to go back to the default rom.
first of all, can i still use whatsapp from the google market after doing this?
second, am i looking at a "x10 mini pro" and is it compactible with the software im planning to use:
http://s11.postimg.org/m35z5v8wj/IMG_0245_1.jpg
says u20i - is that first or second generation mini pro? ive read that there are different versions from this phone
----
since this is my first "upgrade" to cyangenmod i woud like to ask if this is the "big picture":
1. root device
2. install recovery program
3. install cyangenmod
is this the correct order?
----
now on to the already existing documentation,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587177
this guide lists quite some options on how todo "things", keep in mind the target is: cm7 with the option to easily go back to the stock firmware
as far as i know there are 2 options
1. xrecovery
2. clockworkmod recovery
which one do you prefer or does only one work on my device?

two ways.
A. Old MiniCM7 prob Bpaul and old variants like GingerDXv21
1.root your phone
2.install xrecovery
3.flash your custom rom
B. latests MiniCM7-2.2.2, and it's variants rom like GingerDXv31b,ZenceFil Sony,MiniCMXMP,Semc Debrand Engine(They are really awesome)
1. root your phone
2. unlock your bootloader
3. flash the nAa-14 kernel(it has built in CWM Recovery)
4. flash your AWESOME custom rom
to have MiniCM9 and MiniCM10 and their variants the installation is the same with Procedure "B" but just different kernel from nAa (nobodyAtall)

ah very nice, could you please take a look at the first link i posted to make sure i really got a "x10 mini pro" - im unsure...says nowhere mini or pro on my phone
also going back to a sony rom with the pc companion software is still possible after all this?

Xperia x10 mini pro (u20i) a.k.a. "mimmi"
also the Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i /SK17a) has a.k.a. mango has a slight difference in terms of appearance with the x10mp.
next is if else you didn't succeed in flashing things, and you find yourself in a soft brick status you can always flash the nAa-14 kernel again and redo the flashing or go to Pc companion to go back to its stock firmware.

ok, so now that i finally want to start...another question:
is it normal that my sophos antivirus says that the superoneclick.zip is infected?
https://www.virustotal.com/de/file/...6cafe072c6eed47c27e1c3b1b7bc99c367b/analysis/
tried different sources...always the same
says here at the end that its normal
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
but i get different malware/virus names even with totalvirusses list from different antivirus products

Yes, because rooting the phone means getting around security-measures, and it is 'suspect' behaviour, that's why your anti-virus may think it is malware.

thx, now ive rooted, unlocked and flashed the nAa kernel.
but now "pressing back" and starting the phone does not put me into any recovery screen. screen just goes black after about 7 seconds showing the nAa screen...what now?

tap the back-button repeatedly, about 2 times per second, to get into recovery, just holding it down on boot doesn't work. You may even start that before the kernel-logo shows.

thx to all your help, it worked
finally cm mini 7

Anyone mind giving me step by step instructions on getting CM7 on a x10 mini pro? (same version as androidfan34's).
I've flashed a Tmobile G1 before but this seems quite different and it's my girl's phone so i don't want to risk bricking it.
EDIT: Should i be following this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=950324
EDIT2: Nevermind, just followed the instructions on the CM wiki and am now on CM7.

[Q] Xperia X10 Mini Pro Firmware

Hi there,
I've not really had any experience with Android handsets, however my wife has just purchased an Xperia X10 Mini Pro and I read that you can't install/run apps from the memory card.
I have also read that as of Android 2.2 this is allowed, however Sony Ericsson haven't released this for this particular handset. Please correct me if I am wrong on this!
So to get to the point...I am looking for the easiest possible firmware (and a guide) to install to allow this functionality. I must also point out that I would like the most stable firmware that can do this, as I do not want to lose functionality that some custom firmwares bring with them.
Thanking you in advance
Easiest way: Root standard rom, partition sd card and use Link2SD
This is also most stable option.
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
You must unlock bootloader... install new kernel and flash, for example, MiniCM Pro v18 (I'm using it and it's totally crash free... works everything... fast)
Start with this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
This post will help you to unlock the phone's bootloader ... (damn sony and their locked bootloaders)
Then follow with this:
http://www.multiupload.com/H9THXDXQZK
This .zip file containst a readme.txt that will help you to unlock/root your x10 mini pro and install CWM (Clockworkmod) ... right after that you need the rom for MiniCM Pro... its here:
http://www.multiupload.com/GPQOE7ZDYJ
You must copy this zip in your SD card... then shutdown the phone, start it again and when you see "Sony Ericsson" in white, tap the back key several times... that should get you into Clockwork recovery...
The best practice is making a full backup (there's an option in the recovery to make it)
Now you must make a Factory Reset/wipe (CAREFUL!! THIS DELETES ALL THE PHONE'S CONTENTS INCLUDING SMS, APPLICATIONS, DOCUMENTS AND ANYTHING YOU HAVE IN THE DATA PARTITION, SDcard files aren't deleted though) and then Install ROM from zip file and select the zip file you just copied on your sdcard.
Once finished tell it to reboot... it will ask you a pair of questions... answer then "no" for the first and "yes" for the second (this questions are because minicm v18 changes clockwork from 3.X to 4.X ... everything is ok)
Reboot your phone and voilà!!
Hope this will help...
Cheers!!

Aaaaah, i guess you just gave me a so much helpful point there. I'm using MiniCM7 Pro v16; when i try and start a v16+ (17 or 18) install, i always get a "can't open archive. Installation aborted (bad)" or something similar.
I installed the v16 the normal way. So is it possible that the v17 and v18 need a new, separate-to-install kernel, as otherwise the installation won't start? v16 is pretty cool, but as WLAN got some attention in v18, i'd like to try it.
To the threadstarter: i can only speak for v16, but concerning this, i can totally recommend this rom. Had absolutely no installation issues, everything worked fine, battery lasts way longer, more options to configure the device (if you want)... the developers did an absolutely great work to complete the task Sony Ericsson was not able to.
If you read carefully what needs to be done (Links were posted), there's not much chance to do much wrong and it'll be worth the time.

Unlocking the bootloader and installing a new kernel isn't needed at all for MiniCM Pro. Other ROMs, such as GinTonic.SE, can also be used with the stock kernel, one just needs to flash the kernel modules besides the main ROM. As he is a new user, I think he shouldn't unlock the bootloader, as it's adding unneeded complexity to the task.

I think the file you downloaded got corrupted.
I'm using v18 with the stock kernel, and I think this is what is recommended by paul-xxx, as you need to manually remove some kernel modules from the ROM if using the custom kernels available in xda.
Please check the md5sum of your file to see if it matches:

I'm not using a custom kernel either... but I unlocked my bootloader because I thought it was needed. Well in fact I had to do it because my phone company installed a custom kernel 2.x.B.5
Maybe the problem is that allyouracid could be using xRecovery instead CWM ? I think v17 and on REQUIRE CWM while the previous ones worked with xRecovery

[Q] how does i upgrade my X10 mini to 2.3 android

guys i just root my X10 mini and i need upgrading android to 2.3...does need to create ROM or just download android 2.3 file install it???i need your respone and a helping hand...thanks
Please use the search function the next time. For your convenience Click Here
And try this custom ROM for starters. It doesn't require you to unlock boot loader and install a custom kernel.
and when you know how to use the search function then I know for sure you can manage to unlock your boot loader and can flash a custom ROM
lol. they will so kill you for this question. It's forbidden to be a noob in these forums.
Here are the steps you must follow in "search" terms:
1. Root (obviously you already did).
2. Unlock bootloader. (google the hell out of it, search these forums. To install a new rom you need to install a new kernel. For a new kernel you need to unlock the bootloader. Search "How to Unlock the bootloader"). You will need your PC.
3. Flash a new Kernel and Install CWM recovery. Generally just flashing the kernel takes care of the CWM installation. (It's some kind of android bios you must install first thing after having unlocked the bootloader. Check "flashtools" and "how to flash a kernel" guides). You'll need your PC.
4. Flash the ROM. It's the easiest part. It's done by hard reseting the phone. check "How to flash a ROM".
gl dude.
There's nothing wrong with being noobish. Everyone is a noob at some point. This is my first Android anything and I knew absolutely nothing before I came here: "Root? Custom rom? ClockworkMod Recovery? What the hell does any of it mean?!"
But there's a fine line between asking noob questions and asking noob questions without doing any research. But hey..at least the OP was polite.

the line would be drawn like n00b vs n3wbi3. n00b - as what my sig says and n3wbi3 - doesn't ask unless there's a prob or question that needs to be clarified. i was once a n00b but know where to start and that is hitting the start button.

Doing your research... Just about every current iteration of GB-Roms for the X10Mini requires a custom kernel, The installation instructions for the ROM you linked to clearly states to unlock the bootloader and install nAa-08 kernel.
If you want to point people to ROMS that run on stock kernel, stick to froyo/CM6.
plz reply me
plz answer my problem
First of all, you lost your network-capability when you unlocked your bootloader, so i hope you made a backup of your orignal firmware. Restore that and then relock the bootloader, your network capability should hopefully come back
You can't run any Gingerbread roms if you're on the X10Mini with a locked bootloader, you'll have to stick with older Froyo (2.2) Roms, just make sure the ROM you choose does not require a custom kernel. The older ones probably have to be installed with Xrecovery too, instead of CWM, use flashtool to get XRecovery onto your phone.

It isnt SIM lock, it is SEMC SIMLOCK CERTFICATE. Try S1Tool what it says.
I have the same problem and I solve like in this tread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225

No need to shout, not every x10 mini or x10mini pro comes with a semc-simlock certificate, if your phone is simlocked by your provider, s1tool gives you simlock-certificate not recognised.
If you unlock the bootloader on such a phone, it is most likely it will disable your radio-capability.
So everytime someone unlocks their bootloader and gets no service anymore, relocking is the only option, and then sim-unlock their phone using Omnius, or (the safest way) with an EMMA/IMEI code from their network-provider.
After that you can unlock the bootloader safely.
problem occured in upgrading
dear sir i already locked my boot loader. but i cant upgrade firmware or flash through sony companion and SEUS. how can i upgrade or restore my firmware. its shown only "Sony Ericsson" in WHITE LETTERS. plz resolve my problem.
its occured any error in flashing? any different kernal is there?
I am on custom ROM right now, phone is rooted though and just unlocked the bootloader a couple days back. I was wondering, if I flashed the nAa-11 kernel, will I still be able to use stock ROM on it until I install some GB ROM? Or do I have to flash the GB ROM right after flashing the nAa-11 kernel for the phone to work?
Just for the record, I like doing one thing at a time then checking if phone is fully stable before moving to the next step... Makes me TOO nervous
The ROM's are all compiled against a particular kernel, so stock rom won't work on the nAa-kernel, and most GB-roms won't work on the stock kernel.
You want to flash the nAa-11 kernel, do a reboot, and press the back-button several times until you get into CWM That's as sure as you can be that everything is stable at that point.
Then you can do the usual steps for installing the ROM, (Wipe data, cache, etc., install from sd-card)
If you forgot to put the ROM on your sd-card you can connect your phone through CWM in the mounts and storage section, mount usb-storage) and then copy the ROM to your phone.

XPeria X10 Mini Pro Problem(s)

I am a... fairly new user with XPeria X10 Mini Pro, I got it for a birthday present in the end of October 2011 and I have been in love with it. This was my first smartphone too.
I installed Superuser in order to remove those already installed apps that didnt want to be removed..
But ever since, my XPeria has been having its troubles..
It crashes when I open up text messages.
Biggest problem >> It wont charge unless in a certain position or not at all.
The music player doesnt work.
It restarts randomly.
Almost every app crashes. (force this program to stop-crashes)
Calls get cancelled sometimes (not that often).
So I dont know what to do, the guarantee is gone because duh.. Superuser is installed.
I dont know what info I should give you on the phone really so I went into the "About the Phone" thing in Settings and heres what I found:
Model - U20i
Fabric Program Version (?) - 2.1-update1
Kernel-version - 2.6.29 [email protected] #1
Baseband version - M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
Revision Number - 2.1.1.A.0.6
I directly translated that from Swedish and I'm 15 years old so don't expect it to be perfect.
Surely you removed something important
You can try to restore your phone using PC Companion (a Sony app) or install a custom ROM (highly recommended).

Do you recommend any custom ROM? And how do you install it? There seems to be alot to choose from O_O
Well... I'm user of MiniCM and of course I recommend it, but you should search for a cROM that use stock kernel.
Why? Because if your phone is very new, surely the bootloader can't be unlocked, and also because is more easy install the cROM on stock kernel.
Choose a cROM (read the bug list, if any) and follow the instructions that are in the cROM post, is all.
stock kernel = sony's kernel (you already have installed it)

Another problem.. My phone won't even connect to my computer.. Same problem with the charging thing here too? And its not some problem with the charger, same thing happens with an another charger...
I really don't know what cROM to pick.. I dont even know how to install them o_o
Can someone help a noob? XD I don't even know what cROMs do.
Are you allowed to bump your own threads? XD

Xperia X10 Mini Pro Rooted...now wont boot?

I have no idea what I'm doing so I thought following a step by step guide would help me...but apparently not.
I followed this guide because I wanted this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1206625
BUT I used xRecovery from here (also I used this guide to get root access):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1682966
I already had the baseband so I didn't do the optional step, but I did download the file after searching the topic for a live link (I wanted all the files I might need before starting so I could focus on the job).
My phone is now in an infinite loop of turning on, saying Sony Ericsson, then shutting down after a minute or so and retrying. I'm not sure what info to provide so I will just list off things I wrote down beforehand:
FIRMWARE: 2.1-UPDATE1
KERNEL: 2.6.29
BUILD: 2.1.1.A.0.6
SI: 1248-0835
I just wanted to let anyone who wants to help know I restored the backup through xRecovery...so it's like I never did anything....but I still really need to get rid of the OS I have and replace it with something clean, preferably what I tried the first time (first link).

You don't need to unlock the bootloader becasue you're trying to install a modified stock-rom from SE, which will run on SonyEricsson's stock kernel with no problem.
I hope you did all the wipes in xRecovery?
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
Go into advanced menu
wipe dalvik-cache
wipe battery stats
Usually a bootloop on a rom that is proven to work is due to left-over junk in the cache or dalvik-cache. You can do these after you've installed the ROM.
Oh okay. I hadn't unlocked the bootloader and I was having trouble keeping my phone off and connected to my puter so thought I had better leave it for a day when I have time to focus on it. That was the part of rooting I was afraid of.
I did the first two cache but not the other two. Will try again in a few minutes and do those!
Same thing. Think I'm going to have to try the bootloader thing.

If you want that particular ROM there is no need to unlock the bootloader.
It is more dangerous than just rooting your phone and only needed if you need a custom kernel, which you don't for this ROM.
If you have flashtool (you can get it from here if you don't have it)
Make sure USB-debugging is on on your phone
Start flashtool
Connect your phone to your computer
Root it using the ROOT button in flashtool (the button with the lock on it)
Install xRecovery using the button with the cross on it.
Use the menu to boot into xRecovery
Choose Install zip from sd-card (no need to rename the zip this way)
Choose zip from sd-card (it wil show you the content on your sd-card)
Choose your ROM's zip
Choose yes
After the install is done reboot your phone.
If it won't boot the zip-file you downloaded may be corrupted.
You can get back to your original firmware by using Sony Update Service or PC Companion, so your phone will work again.

I think i bricked my phone for good

Hey,
I have Xperia X10 mini, 2.1.1.A.0.6 build for stock.
I rooted him, install the nAa-14 kernel and MiniCM7-2.2.1 room, and it worked ok.
It's all beginning with trying to change the the room but then i got a problem, loop-boot.
I thought maybe the kernel doesn't fit for the room so i change for CE kernel, which then i got a black screen.
So, i reinstall nAa-14 and MiniCM7-2.2.1, but still got the loop-boot.
I tried several kernels but nothing worked.
Then i thought maybe the CE kernel doesn't work because the phone is rooted , so i un-root him, and it didn't work.
I tried also the Sopc and Update service without a succeed (i tried the update and repair options but i got no option to reinstall it, just notice me i got the last update)
One hour ago i saw the TUTORIAL]Up/Downgrading, ReFlash/ing, Rooting/xRecovery[For Noobs ONLY]
I'm a truly a Noob.
So i tried to root the phone again(SuperOneClick) but with no succeed, It's stuck on "waiting for device"
Then i noticed that the Sopc recognizing my phone as Xperia X8 (wtf?!)
Install the drivers for X8 doesn't help.
This is a dead end for my phone?

As long as the phone does at least something there's a way to get out of it
Download this, it's original 2.1 firmware for the x10Mini for flashtool, put it in the flashtool firmwares folder and flash it. Afterwards you can do other stuff again, like installing naa-14 and minicm7, or, if you want another rom, make sure you've got the right kernel for it too.

I think the i supports more 3g frequencies than the a, but the ones the a supports are also supported by the i firmware. I think it should work. just try it, it won't break your phone. In any case, it won't get worse than it is now.

Did you by any chance relock your bootloader in your efforts to unbrick your phone?

Then i thought maybe the CE kernel doesn't work because the phone is rooted , so i un-root him, and it didn't work.

(un)rooting and (un)locking the bootloader are NOT the same thing
try this instead.
What is the difference?
I did "Restore" on S1tool
maybe try SEUS
the locked version worked.
Thank you !!
so now, if i want install MIN-08 without break it down, what should i do? root the phone?
btw what it is "locked" mean?

locked means it's got the original bootloader for your phone, the other one i sent you had the 'unlocked' loader. Min-08 works on the stock kernel, so you should just root your phone (use the padlock button in flashtool) install xrecovery (the +-button in flashtool).
Put this on your sd-card and flash it with xrecovery, it will install CWM and replace xrecovery.
Then put Min-08.zip onto your sd-card and flash it with the newly installed CWM.
Good Luck

Hey,
I have Xperia X10 mini, 2.1.1.A.0.6 build for stock.
