I am just wondering if there are any Camera apps you can download from Play Store that would work on any AOSP (NON TW) ROM that would restore the picture quality in AOSP that the TW Camera gives?
Anyone?

Nope. I even have a couple that I paid for. I'm on a TW ROM because I can't find a better camera app. I HATE TW.

Situation was the same with motorola phones, I had a Droid Razr Maxx HD, and it KILLED me using the cam on Cyanogenmod, or any of the other AOSP roms, eventually found a APK for moto's cam and I was happy again. Maybe something similar can be achieved with the S4? I dont know how tightly the Cam on this is integrated with TochWiz tho.

You might try CameraZoom FX. I still have TW and this gives better pictures than standard TW, in my opinion.

I don't think so. I think the TW camera is much better.

Has anyone used this app? I see many people using it with the incredible but I don't feel like spending the money if it doesn't enhance the pictures on our phones that much.
There is a free demo version you can try out.

I really like Vignette. The effects and settings are very cool and I think they are much less cheesy than some of the effects on other camera apps.
I second that. I have the full version, and its a very reliable camera app with some powerful features!

In deed i haven't try it, download it and awesome but no solarize effect camera ZOOM FX neither.
Let me try they other in the market.
The Atrix 2 default camera apk has this effect
4th result of a google search for "android camera app solarize effect".
http://www.androidtapp.com/camera-effects/
Same it edit photos after taken. But no live capture with that effect, and neither those can take videos. That's myprimary goal, videos with solarize effect
Try "Camera Pro" by Swiss Codemonkeys. It is a paid app, but it's pretty cheap. Careful, there is another app out there also called "Camera Pro", by someone else.
I don't know for sure if it has what you need, but it says it has the solarize effect.

I've been looking on the market for the best camera/photo edit app out but havent been able to find one. Coming from an iPhone I used the Camera+ app and lover the HDR features along with full control over photo editing and filters. Any suggestions?

Camera FV-5 has become my replacement camera for the stock cam on my Note 2. FV-5 gives you features you would find on a DSLR camera. Pro HDR Camera is great for the times you want HDR and last but not least Vignette camera.
for editing, I like Picsay Pro, Perfectly Clear and definitely Adobe Photosho Touch(A tad pricey but worth it).
Has anyone come across or know of any apps that looks like iOS' camera or gallery? If you know of more than one app that would be even better, but knowing just one would be fine with me.

Hello to everyone from a new forum member
I recently bought the Z Ultra as a replacement for my Galaxy Note II, and was expecting to have to still keep my iPhone 4S in the other pocket as a decent camera.
I noticed that the Z Ultra does take quite nice photos, and indoors they are often better than the iPhone! But I was shocked on zooming in to find that they have no detail at all, and that was explained by the fact all the photos are around 1MB in size (on the highest resolution setting)!! iPhone photos average 4MB, and Note II photos average 7MB.
I asked Sony support how to reduce the ridiculous level of JPEG compression on the photos, but they said it cannot be done. Is this really true? It's shocking if so! What's the point in even having a high resolution sensor if you compress the images so much it might as well be 2megapixel!?
Is there any replacement camera app that can take photographs with sensible compression levels, or would it require hacking the OS? I'd prefer not to root if possible. Can anyone help please? I love this Sony and it would be great for it to be my only phone.
Garry
I noticed this myself yesterday. I took some test photos and thought they looked nice, but then I zoomed in, and holy artifacts batman, that was quite bad. Try using a third party camera app from the play store.

The Z1 camera app is available for the Ultra in the Themes and apps section. Try that out, or install a third party photo app from the Play Store and see if that helps. I haven't installed anything yet since i'm not that interested in taking photos, so i can't tell if it helps or not.
Thx, I will try

Didn't try Z1 cam app yet, but I tried third party apps and the results are the same, even worse in low luminosity conditions (as third apps do not use the hdr backlight correction). I took a look on the media_profile.xml and changed value of ImageEncoding quality to 100/90/80/70/60/50 instead of 90/80/70/60/50/40 but didn't see any improvement. I guess it is ruled by one of the camera files, and I don't know how to find which and even less how to modify it.

The camera is a little better in 4.3. Still not great, but better.

I'm not sure, but I think it's a direct port of the Z1 257 camera app, and the Z1 also got updated to 4.3 with an improved camera, so my guess would be that the 4.3 for the Ultra is also "better" than the 257 port. I can't see how Krab could've modified it to be better.
I have no proof to back up my claims that the 4.3 camera is in fact better, but my first reaction when I took some low light pics the other day was that it didn't look as bad as expected. It may be a little better or I'm simply delusional

OP, Im using Camera 360, it comes with a "Keep Original Photo" setting. Maybe you like to try that. But I have to warn you, I switched it off because it's a pain to keep managing 2 photos for EVERY shot....
Sent from my C6833 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
it looks the same...... are there other ways or apps to reduce the compression?
360 creates two files and for sure they dont look the same when i tested.
Also, try ProCapture and A Better Camera. Both had better low light result details than the stock one. ProCapture for example, has a reduced noise setting which works decently too.
