The XTZ's Screen Mirroring is based on Miracast. You need to enable/setup the Miracast feature on your television.

You said your television is an XBR950 model, so it should support Miracast. Go on-line to Sony Support and download a manual for your television and read how to enable the Miracast feature.

Unfortunately, the KDE-55XBR950 is the (no offense intended) economy plasma version of the XBR950 models which does not have the Miracast feature. Nor does it have Ethernet capabilities. Your only choice for playing videos from your XTZ on your television is by connecting a MHL to HDMI adapter between the XTZ and the television.

Thx for that and as I suspected if I understand correctly , I need a miracast adapter for the TV
I edited my post, i was completely wrong.
If your tv is capable here's how to : https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/43134/kw/screen mirroring/c/65,66/related/1
I can only use wifi direct for playing media wirelessly on Bravia, I can't use screen mirroring without the IM750.

A quick check of Amazon.com releaves that Sony seems to be the only one making DLNA speakers. Several Home Audio Amps and BluRay players are coming with that feature, as well as Smart HDTVs. I have a few of both, and am truly enjoying throwing music from my tablet to my home theater via a Sharp Smart TV. Can't help you with a speaker choice though. Maybe a few more brands will show up with DLNA speakers this year.

I wonder if they will work with video from netflix or mx video player coming on the screen still but sound out of the dlna or is it bad idea or impossible?
Sent from my Sony Tablet S using Tapatalk
DLNA support is still a mixed bag as far as my experience shows. I haven't seen any device or app that can split up the audio and video to output to different devices. Anything I can throw video at gets the audio as well. At best you can keep a now playing screen up for audio on the tablet when sending the actual music output to a speaker or amp or TV. Yet if the audio or video is web based, wifi is occupied and I haven't yet found a way to also use DLNA to forward either the audio or video part of it to another device. Not to say it won't be possible in the future, but DLNA is a relatively new technology. I suspect we'll eventually see two wifi channels/chips in these devices, mainly to support wifi in and DLNA out simultaneously.
so what you suggest, should I buy one or wait??!!!??
its actually quite expensive as well..
I have both the tablet s n sans300 dlna speakers n it all works fine for me. Haven't been able to play a movie on the tablet with the sound via the speakers with dlna but the speaker has an audio in port where u can just plug a 3.5mm audio jack in to play as a regular speaker...
Btw, the sans300 is amazing n has great audio quality wherever u r in the room...I just wish that it also ran on batteries so it can just "float" in the middle of the room...

The same splitting problem will still be present as it is not possible for a DLNA Renderer of any kind to play media it is not able to play (i.e. speakers cannot play movies). DLNA just doesn't work like that.
It's also worth noting that DLNA support for me has been far from a "mixed bag" when using the stock Sony apps, so they're definitely a better bet.
When these speakers will be available in Singapore..

why use DNLA ....
..... use bluetooth, logic make a BT connetor that you can use on any speakers I've got one set up that uses all my mobile devices including laptops galaxy note Tablet s etc.
Be wary that using Bluetooth does invoke a certain loss in audio quality, but does enable you to connect without WiFi. They are quite different technologies after all.
As for the DLNA's availability, you might be best asking the Sony Central (or Style) in Singapore about that.
Yes, thats true there is a loss (or so they tell me), but if like me, you cant tell the difference, meh.
The sound comes out of the speakers and the vid plays on the tab, and the logic is only about 30 quid so if you've already got speakers no need to buy new ones.

I have a feeling that you will need the All Cast Dongle accessory in order to stream your screen. I have no proof of this and it should work without on a Samsung SmartTV - I was certainly hoping it would work without as we recently bought a SmartTV.

Actually it could be possible that it works by the TV or dongle registering itself on the WiFi network it's using, and only presenting the option to the phone if a smart tv/dongle is found?
Atleast i found it mighty suspicious that they could only find one TV at the demos, there must've been more than just one right? Unless they were all on different networks.

It seems that ROM shipped with the device doesn't have this feature,, or samsung will provide an update when the dongle is available
Wots the nearby devices do/show if you press on it
And maybe its like a Bluetooth connection you have to make both tv and phone visable to each other then pair them

You'll not need any option.
Buy ezcast, it's 15$ dongle and with ezcast app you'll be more than satisfied.
I'm using it on all my devices (Z1, N7, XU...)and I'm planning to use it on TS.
I have cast screen option on Nexus 7 and it can't detect dongle but as I said - ezcast app is doing great job and.

Video player (inside of app) is capable to show subtitles, that's something I really need...
Cheapest and best wifi dongle I ever had...and I have chromecast too...
This is better device then Google chromecast.
Google restricted many options and it's, for me, best for web and media servers streaming (youtube, netflix)...
But ezcast is best for mirroring and wifi video/pist/music sharing (from other device)

I'm not interested in the TVision service as of yet but the device itself seems interesting (if it can be tweaked like a Chromecast or Firestick etc)

This may be a newly released device from TMobile but it, being an officially certified legit AndroidTV device, shares all the capabilities of other devices on market. Google, Verizon, Xiaomi, Dynalink, nVidia et al all have similar products that are very popular and that share similar capabilities. That's what standards are all about. 99% of core features are replicated with a few minor variations added along the way.
As to your sideload question, of course you can sideload phone/tablet apps. Bear in mind, non AndroidTV apps sideloaded won't show on your home screen. You can access them under apps menu or you can tweak system by installing sideload launcher from the playstore. This will allow them to appear on home screen/desktop of your device.
You may consider /r/androidtv forum on reddit.com as it focuses exclusively on the official androidTV variants of tv boxes
Good luck
yes i have the device, bought it from tmobile. it has a play store and you can remote in with ADBLink and add files. Id suggest going into the play store to grab a file manger and then you can explore the device directories. the service itself is actually very good. we canceled cox cable.
So with Tvision ending and Youtube TV not working on this device, there is an alternative, but that is if we can get this to actually work correct. Here at Xda developers Project Slimbox is for Amlogic devices and I believe they have a device working with the S905Y2 processor. it would be nice to see if we could actually get that working on this device. Tmobile told me that they will be giving account credit for each person that purchased one of these devices.
I was able to get the block names, but as you know there is no external sdcard so it makes it difficult to backup partitions or anything else. I was able to connect to it via adb wifi with no issue.
Hi everybody,
I managed to successfully port and build Maru OS for our Xiaomi Mi 8 based on Android 10 Lineage OS sources.
Everything is working perfectly and performance is really good in desktop mode.
Currently the only issue is that selinux is set to permissive and needs to be fixed for production ready builds.
Basically its an Android build with a LXC debian container built in. As soon as you activate screen sharing or hook up a DisplayLink dock, it starts the desktop environment onto the second screen. It's using a graphical bridge between Debian container and Android system which writes data directly to SurfaceFlinger. This makes the desktop experience extremely good and fluent (not comparable to VNC for example).

Great to hear that someone else also likes the idea of using the phone as desktop device.
Yes, I can do that. But first I need to prepare the Github repository as the source code needs to be fully published before releasing a ROM I think. Currently everything is setup locally for development and testing.

Since this phone doesn't support native HDMI output, you need to use a DisplayLink docking station which requires the DisplayLink application installed on the device. I'm using the HP USB-C Universal Dock (hsa-b005ds). If I remember correctly charging and using my mouse and keyboard simultaneously connected via USB worked without any problems.

Just to be clear; you managed to use the displaylink dock as "secondary monitor", or did you just run the LXC container fullscreen with your display mirrored via displaylink?
I've been looking for a while to get displaylink to act as a secondary monitor rather than (half-assed) mirror my phone to my monitor. It would be really awesome to run (even the build-in android desktop) on a device with a displaylink dock attached.

Just to be clear; you managed to use the displaylink dock as "secondary monitor", or did you just run the LXC container fullscreen with your display mirrored via displaylink?

Exactly, the LXC container is running on the external monitor via DisplayLink. At the same time you can use the Android system on the phone screen as usual.

Thank you for responding.
It's really awesome you got it working like that! I've only seen this demo'd by DisplayLink themselves using a custom build rom they only want to provide to influencers and companies (source, see reply to top comment)
Would something like this also be achievable using magisk modules (or any other form of root method/drivers)? You would really be my superhero if you could help me out on achieving this.
