Hi,
I had cynogenmod 4.3 running on my s2. I wanted to remove warning triangle which comes while booting, so i bought root triangle away app and used it to reset the counter. But now my device doesn't boot, its getting stuck at samsung logo. I was able to go in download mode but not sure what to do. Pls help to bring my phone back .. :crying:
OK so if you can get into download mode then you're OK 99% of the time.
Flash a stock ROM, re root and then restore your backup.
Just a wile guess, is triangle away compatible with 4.3? Maybe run triangle away just after rooting while on the stock ROM still. Better yet, root by flashing philz kernel from stock JB recovery, that won't trigger the yellow triangle.

same here, what do for solve?
How to solve ? The answer is in that post of Hopper's you quoted; I.E flash a stock rom with Odin in DL mode.
Edit - Also, do not double post about the same issue. no need to create a thread about this issue and post to a 6 mth old thread about the same thing. You've been here more than long enough to know better than that.

Hi
I want to root my phone now but very un sure on how to get the yellow triangle not to appear after rooting??
Theres instructions through chainfire but i can't get my head around it in all respects??
the root process seems ok to do but I wouldnt want this triangle everytime I reboot. .
Thanks
Why do you want to get rid of the yellow triangle, does it hurt you somehow?
The yellow triangle indicates that the running kernel is not signed by Samsung. Obviously to get rid of this you have to flash a Samsung-signed Kernel.
While root usually will still work, obviously other features that are depended on the modded kernel won´t work.
If you're really struggling with chainfire's instructions, there's an excellent total baby-steps guide for noobs here.
But you can learn to live with the triagle - how often do you watch a reboot screen anyway?
Its pretty simple,
After rooting,
1- Flash back the Stock kernel via Odin.
2- Flash the Zimage from your SD card via CWM, which you need to copy to your SD card before step 1 from your rooted kernel.
Regards.

You don't need to do point 1 do you? Can't you just flash the kernel from CWM app?
Also replacing the stock kernel will still not reset the count will it?
If you want to get yourself a usb jig, this will reset the binary counter and remove the triangle. Search the forums for usb jig, plenty info there
Yeah so only the jig will reset the counter.
I assume that the download mode would still show custom unless you reflash the stock kernel as above through cwm app on a cfroot phone?

One thing I'm a little hazy on...
Okay say I have stock phone with KF3 kernel. I root using CF-Root (KF3) kernel and everything is great apart from the yellow box. If I re flash the using the cwm app with the stock kernel again this will remove the yellow box, overwrite the cf-root with the samsung stock kernel (thus removing cwm) but still leave the phone in a rooted state?
In this instance would I be able to install a custom rom using the stock kernel that I now have OR do I need to re-flash (using Odin) the previous CF-Root kernel to get cwm back?
I haven't done this process as yet as I'm waiting for a jig to arrive to do it that way but I'm trying to understand why you'd want to put the stock kernel back (as is shown in numerous guides)?
Also if I use the jig and it removes the yellow box and resets the counter, does it factory reset the kernel or will I still have cwm on there? If the later, will the download mode show a custom rom/kernel or samsung rom/kernel?

JIG it and if you dont know how to jig it ebay e.g.Samsung s jig adapter or build it very simple if your int electronic soildering and the yellow triangle can void your warrenty in short there is a counter which will show samsung how many times youv flashed your fone with an unofficial kernel. hope this info helps.
Hi,
I'm sure there's a thousand post about it but after going through of lot of them none helped me.
I have rooted my phone for backup purposes with CF-Root-SGS2_JP_XSG_KG2-v4.1-CWM4.tar and everything went smooth.
Now I have a signal problem with my phone and I have to send it for repair through warranty. My phone is from Bell Canada so it's a branded phone.
I tried to unroot my phone with Super One Click but it always freeze at step 6 (also tried the unplug/usb debug/replug trick but didn't work).
Then I found the stock rom CSC_I9100MBMCKG2 so I figured if I flashed with it it would work, but im still rooted (still have root word in kernel version, also have superuser and CWM in my apps, and the yellow exclamation mark and lost the M in GT-I9100M).
I did order the USB Jig for the exclamation mark and custom rom counter, but that won't help for the rest.
Any idea? Troubleshooting step?
Thanks,
Dominic
UPDATE: Tried with S2 Root, stays stuck at Remounting /system as Read Only

Doesn't sound like that was the stock rom at all, where did you find it?
Im not an expert here but evrrytime. I flash stock rom via odin. It remove the exclamation mark. By the way i download my stock rom from xda.

I downloaded it from XDA forums, so that's why I was sure it was good.
When I unroot via Odin, do I have to upload any else than the .tar file?
Alright with lots of work I managed to make it work, but I still get the software in my phone, how to remove them?
Hey there,
I wanted to search first but I can't from my phone and since I need an answer pretty quickly I thought I'd just post now. I current run the latest nightly of ICS and was wondering if there is a way to flash back to stock (with Odin or recovery) so that it seems to be untampered with. Another question is will the stock firmware get updates OTA or is that functionality broken now thanks to the modding.
Oh and yes I have run triangle away to remove the triangle
Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.

To answer your questions:
1. Yes, you can flash back to stock with Odin. Just download the official stock firmware for your region at Intratech's thread
2. If you flash the stock FW, you can still get updates via Kies. Samsung isn't that much of a d*ck.
3. Triangle Away also resets the flash counter, but please go to download mode to check whether your current flash counter is correct since Triangle Away can hard-brick your phone
thanks for your help this is exactly what I was wondering
I've already reset the counter correctly with triangle away, but what do u mean by it hardbricking the phone? when it enters download mode it bricks or what?
he was being cautious..... no worries you already done running triangle away.
what he meant to always check what the triangle away says and what download mode says about counter.

I read that samsung has started to load a new bootloader which shows a red exclamation mark whenever one boots into recovery ,so will triangle away work also do you recommend using odin for flashing the stock rom or through recovery

Hi All,I'd be greatful if someone can advise me. My phones counter has changed to 1 annoyed because i wasn't on custom firmware or rooted at the time, i just reset my normal official firmware and the counter went up to 1. i need to change it back to 0 but it seems to be much harder than previous when ive done this.I rooted the s3 and have a custom firware on it just so i could install triangle away and reset the counter but the counter wont go below 1 anymore.i have tried to pull the battery just before the samsung logo s3 but its not working this time. I understand a stock recovery/bootloader would enable the counter to set to 0 without having to try and pull the battery. I am currently running team win recovery project 2.3.3.0.Anyone know where i get the stock from which I can run while rooted I assume or any other helpful tips?CheersFei

What state do you want the phone to be in? Do you want to continue running modified with counter of 0, or do you want to return to full stock with counter of 0?
There are several guides here on exactly how to do this, search and read for the full info.
To my knowledge you will have to downgrade your bootloader to the ICS version before factory reset, run triangle away then immediately flash stock recovery and ROM from Odin.
I've not done the above myself, so I'd recommend you read up first.

I want to return to stock because it needs to go to the shop. But the custom bootloader isnt letting the counter turn to 0 I read this is because its not stock. I tried pulling the battery before samsung logo after triangle reboots after resetting the counter but with this firmware its just not going back to zero. I understand I cant put stock firmware on until the counter is at zero because I won't be able to be rooted to use triangle.
Id just like to know what stock bootloader I should use to reset the counter. Then I can return to stock.
Thank you for replying

There are 2 methods.
1) Reset with triangle away and interupt reboot (pull battery immediately after Triangle away). This may take several attempts to get right. Then you boot into download mode. If binary counter is "0" (regardless of modified status = custom) then flash via odin
2) Flash an old bootloader (4.1.1) which you can get from any 4.1.1 official ROM on sammobile.com. There is a link to an ics bootloader in my SDS thread at the very bottom of the post too

installed the other cfw and managed to reset the counter to 0 but this is my problem having checked a few times the counter went back up to 1 . it did this when i was in stock yesterday hence why i have had to do all this. Why is it counting up on its own?

Bootloaders since 4.1.2 and some 4.1.1 count the binary at every boot, which is why you must flash an ICS bootloader.
You also need to ensure you have stock kernel, stock recovery.
IMHO the best process would be:
Flash full stock with ODIN now.
Root with CF-AUTO root (must be AUTO) as this doesnt modify kernel or recovery
Then you should be able to triangle away and not go back to 1 on reboot.n ***If still not reset, flash ICS bootloader, then try triangle away again.
Flash stock again

Sorry i am getting so confused with firmwares, roms and bootloaders now ive got totally confused. I'll read up on everything again to try and get an understand because i don't want to waste your time and ask something silly. As it stands this is where i am. i have installed cf auto root, used triangle and pulled battery and immediatly gone into download mode where the counter is saying no. Which is good. I was now intending to install the official rom from sammy for uk

Okay i re-installed the stock rom from the download mode i was already on then hard reset after from bootloader, the red exclamation mark has gone, the count says no still and the device status in settings is saying normal. so i assume this is fit to go back to the shop. I dont know why the count went up on its own in the first place, my phone just freaked out and started to reboot randomly and caused the count to go to 1 which is really annoying because i would have been blamed for something i didnt do.
Thank you so much for the assistance
