[Q] Camera laggy? + UI lag? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hi!
I'm running Hyperdrive 8.1 and I've noticed that the camera drops about 10 frames when I show my camera around my closet... Whereas when i slide my camera over to my monitor, it is extremely smooth. Could it be the cluttered ness? Or...
Also there is a slight UI lag... Is there any possible way for me to fix it?
Syncs: Facebook, Google, Samsung Account, Skype, Twitter and Vine. I made sure many of them aren't synced automatically.

I think it has to do with the lighting. When theres quite a bit of light my camera is smooth but when moving to darker conditions it gets a bit choppy when moving the camera around. I.remember stock being similar so i dont think its a rom issue and it doesnt seem to affect picture quality. As for ui lag I always disable the animations and it makes the phone super snappy. The option is under developer options, near the bottom.

video playback too dark and oversaturated

Hey
Ive compared video playback of the s3 with my gnexus and it was really bad.
The whole video was oversaturated and too dark. In the dark areas there is no detail.
The display mode and videomode configurations are complete crap and made things even worse.
Everything else of my galaxy s3 seems good. So i dont know if its a general problem or just my s3.
Hope someone can help me fix this.

Change screen mode in settings / display. Maybe try natural.
Brightness for the video player is managed inside the video app. While the video is playing hit menu then scroll down to settings and adjust brightness there.

Adjust the brightness within this video itself solve the problem.

Yes like in the video but the gakaxy nexus dont has this problem. And the gnex has also an amoled hd.
Making the brightness higher just helps a little bit and the warm cold or video mode natural mode configurations are awful.
And the biggest problem is that dark areas of the video are just plain black with no detail. Brightness can be fixesd by adjusting it manually.
I think its an calibration problem but i dont know how to do it. -.-
Is the video in 720p? Everything I watch in 720 looks perfect

[Q] is there way to unlock other camera adjustments like Contrast or Sharpness ?

I noticed while using the camera that there are no controls for contrast, sharpness ..saturation etc. So I decided to download other camera apps and use those functions in them. The only problem is, those controls have no effect on the image. I can adjust them ...say...in Camera360 or lgcamera but nothing happens. I can tell they are not preset values in the apps because say for Contrast, in all apps the contrast shows a value of 5. It can be changed but nothing ever happens. Is there a way to unlock these settings in the kernel maybe? Has anyone messed with this? Im just so used to always having control over these functions on my HTC phones. It seem kind of silly to lock them out on an amazing phone like the GS4
Bumpity....
Nobody knows anything huh?
I don't know about the third party apps but I know different options are available when you set the camera to different modes. Like in the beauty face mode the you can change iso

ISO is normally available in Auto mode as well as Exposure adjustments. But even in the Auto mode, there are none of the adjustments mentioned at the top of this thread. The only thing im really looking to control is contrast.....otherwise I have to edit most of my photos. The images are really good but because of the ultra high contrast preset in the camera, the whites/highlights get easily blown out.
Ahh.. guess not
No biggie I guess. Im not complaining about this phone or camera. Just kinda wish it had access to those controls.
So I just tried some settings in Snap Camera. Brightness, Contrast and Saturation have NO effect on the image at all. And also the Scene modes do absolutely nothing either. Is this some kind of bug with the GS4's camera software? Ive never used a phone and not had half the stuff working in the camera that typically works on other phones.

[Q] Blur makes things slow.

Hey guys,
I've noticed that any kind of blur in my phone makes it very laggy and slow. I tried for example having notification area blurred with one of those big xposed mods, don't remember the name now, and it was super slow.Going into the camera and changing modes, where there is blur, makes everything too not very nice.
Could you guys check if it's also slow for you in the camera or is it just my phone?

Yeah, happened to me when I blurred the notifications area with an xposed mod. When I swiped down to open it, it was very laggy and the frame rate was very low.

Just reboot the phone after you apply it. It should be alright after that.
And how about camera guys? Does blur give you low framerate?
EDIT: And offtopic question about camera. When you tap to focus, do you hear a sound and the sights turn blue? They only do for me after I touch to focus and click on screen camera button to take a shot or when I click the hardware camera button halfway.

Swift 2+ photos really soft

Got both my wife and mum this phone for xmas, but we are really disappointed with photos taken by it. Even when taken in reasonable lighting conditions, photos tend to look really soft and blurry, despite the preview shown on screen looking nice and sharp. It isn't finger trouble (moving whilst shooting), it appears to either be poor auto-focus kicking in when hitting the soft-shutter button, or it is really badly compressing the images (although it is set to 100% quality). Any tips gratefully received!

Hello,
Try disabling the zero shutter lag in the camera app's settings, that improves a lot for me.
Have you tried changing the mode of the camera (swipe down/up in camera app), or maybe a third party camera app from the play store (if nothing else works) ? Also if possible use flash, trust me it improves your photo a lot.

Thanks for the tips - I'll give them a try when the wife surfaces and let you know how I get on.
Haven't had much joy - perhaps just expecting too much from the phone. It really does look like it is just making a mess of the compression.
Stock camera app is a trash (as most stock apps).
What problem with installing external camera app? Apps like "Camera FV-5" have a LOT of options.

huge stutters in youtube, and scrolling and general ui smoothness.

have a note 8 and a pixel 2 xl atm and notice huge differences in overall smoothness... which is odd because my old mate 9 was pretty smooth.

it struggles to hold a smooth framerate scrolling in settings,
youtube is super stuttery
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9BsmOnvbrM
app switcher stutters ALOT too, especially in splitscreen.
Was wondering if I accidentally turned on some secret low power mode or something. Don't see any reviews mentioning this performance issue.
US version, feb security patch.
Yes even Google map when you are making a turn it is laggy which is super annoying.
