The size of the email compose Window in the stock email app (not gmail) on my Xperia tablet z is very small. How can i increase it to take up more of the screen? Thanks for any help.

hi there!
i hope this is the right forum. i have installed cm9 on my samsung i9001 (galaxy s plus) so far so good, beta 2 is running smoothly.
sadly there is no standard email application included in that install, or correct me if i am wrong, at least i couldnt find any.
and whats even more sad is i cant download the gmail app from the market because of my location and something i believe is a name infringement or whatever...
so i am in need of a descent email app. i am currently running a gmail.apk for the v2.3.5. which is kinda buggy...
i think the best for me would be the email app that comes with the sgs+ on stock rom or an up to date gmail.apk would be nice too.
since email is kinda delicate i dont want to use any 3rd party app from the market or is there anything trustworthy?
please help me!
thanks in advance!
Try K9 mail. If an email app is not trustworthy there would be bad reviews.

Im new to android so this may be a noob question, but on my iphone the emails would resize so i wouldnt have to scroll horizontally to see it all. is there a setting to do this on the gmail app on this phone or am i just stuck having to scroll all over the place to read an entire email on my phone?

HAHAHAHAHA shameless!
To the op: yes, you have to scroll all over. But! If you root, and install a recovery, you can flash the leaked Gmail 4.2, and it fixes that! I got mine out of the att one x forums under themes and apps. Works fine on wife's One X +
I tried uploading it here for you but xda wasn't having it
If it is a written email, do you have to scroll horizontally? I don't have that issue except when the email has something embedded in it. For example, if I get an email from Best Buy about a sale. Then I need to scroll because of it being an image, otherwise if it is just a typed out email, I don't have to scroll.
This thing I speak of fixes that...

I have 4.2 and I still have to scroll when I there is an embedded message. It doesn't shrink format the email to show the whole thing. Same thing goes for emails from PayPal and Bank of America.

Found a setting in 4.2 that isn't in 4.1.2 and it fixes it! Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the 4.2 release.

Open up gmail, hit settings, general and in there you'll find a box to check that says to fit the email.

I noticed while reading about the xperia tablet z, the launcher has a messaging shortcut. Look in the top left of the tablet z, third icon. Will the xperia tablet z support messaging???

I think that's a typo, though I agree it is confusing. Afaik you can only send SMS/MMS with a working SIM card. Since the WIFI only version doesn't have a SIM slot (trust me, I checked ) I think it is impossible to send SMS/MMS with the WIFI only version.
You can, however, install Google Hangouts and send instant messages to your Google contacts. I think Hangouts is very promising and could be replacing Whatsapp for me when it becomes more widely used. It also backs up your conversations in the cloud which is a big :good: for me personally.

What makes the LTE version not able to make phone calls? Is the a hardware limitation? Or a custom firmware would manage to do it?
Hangouts (and even Talk, actually) have a pretty good sync with desktop app, which is crucial for me. And I agree, the cloud history is also a big plus.
Thanks and greetings.

Did you got an answer? I got the LTE version... no phonecalls (outgoing/ingoing), no data connection... what is for then? only for sms?
Any body can help / clarify?
EDIT: data connection is solved. APN was not configured at all. Will finally be enabled the voice call on this tablet? (any cooked rom?)
Hello all.
I have recently moved from a Samsung Galaxy Note II to the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and now having issues with ActiveSync on my email. The account can connect fine, and lists the messages fine but when I open a message up, the BODY is blank. Sender, subject and all other data is fine. Just a blank body.
A bit of googling shows that this issue is floating around the Net for other folks with other mail servers (including Zimbra) and the problem is related to the "HTML body size", with some servers being able to set this and some clients misbehaving. AFAIK, there is no such setting in Kerio Connect which is the mail server I am running, and there is supposed to be a workaround built in to the current version for the seemingly misbehaving Sony Xperia Z altho no mention of the Z Ultra.
See here for some info:
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-S-SL-acro-S/Can-t-read-Exchange-mail-body-after-6-0-a-3-73-update/td-p/155919/page/3
Well I cant seem to get any joy out of this at all. The "unsupported client" flag on Kerio has been turned both on and off to no avail. Right now I am having to ActiveSync my contacts and calendar and IMAP the mail, but that is horrible and folder management is inadequate that way (items sent from the phone are put into the phones 'sent' folder which is not the same as servers "sent items' folder so they never show in Outlook 2010 on my PC. IMAP just totally ruining everything. HAVE to activesync fully.
Anybody else got this with their mail server (which one?) and anyone know what to do about it? If dont get any ideas, then my plan would be to unlock the bootloader, install CWM and then flash in the AOSP email client to replace Sony one. Have downloaded quite a few clients from the PlayStore. Problems vary from being ugly enough to stop a clock, to not supporting ActiveSync at all or only over WebDAV. All useless in one way or another.
Anyone have any ideas?!
Thanks,
Asif
Kerio Connect: 8.1.3 build 1711 (running on Windows Server 2008 R2)
Client: Sony Xperia Z Ultra running Android 4.2.2, ROM 14.1.B.1.532
PS I have left a similar message on the kerio forum with no reponse.
I'd try an alternative client, recommend maildroid free to see if it works, never had any problems.

MailDroid doesnt support full proper ActiveSync but only offers WebDAV which is not the same thing.
Also on activesync email not shown as html

No worries pal. Thanks for trying.
newstar - what is your email server? MS Exchange, Kerio or something else?
Think i will end up unlocking bootloader to install CWM and then using AOSP email client (which is shame as Sony one rather nice; certainly nicer looking than Samsung one was although that did ActiveSync perfectly!)
try touchdown, i use it and its pretty decent

Thanks. I ended up unlocking the bootloader, flashing in CWM and then using it to install generic Android email.apk whcih performs ActiveSync perfectly. Much better than paying for an app to bypass Sony's poor implementation of the ActiveSync protocol.
Happy camper now!

Using Google Apps..
Sent from my C6802 using Tapatalk 4
Hello Everyone,
I moved from Xperia to Pixel and i really miss the Xperia's email app. I used to set it up to access email's from work (Exchange server) and i could see the calendar on Google's calendar as well. I know i can do this if i set up Gmail to access work email but Gmail has issues syncing Sub-Folder and the Outlook app is well plain ugly and does not sync with Google calendar.
Do you guys know of any email app that works like Xperia's email app?
Regards
Sanjay
I've not used Xperia mail, so cannot comment on how it compares, but fory work exchange account I will use nothing but Nine. It's awesome and handles sub folders great and also integrates with Google Calendar. It's not cheap, but it is so worth the money IMO.

Imagine Nine being made by Sony and being offered for free, preinstalled on Xperia phones
I am looking for a free app and if i do not find one, will have to settle with 9
I have been using Spark. It is new to Android but, has been out on iOS for a long time. I got use to using it on my iPad and I really like it.
My favourite email app is the LineageOS email app. It can be downloaded from APKMirror. If you use Swift Installer, it won't be able to theme it to dark though, so you might need to install Swift Dark or Swift Black with Substratum if you want a dark theme.
