I flashed a custom ROM today, it worked at first boot... But then I reboot it and it got stuck at the Samsung logo.... (Where the phone model appears).... I cant boot into recovery... What can I do? D:
You soft bricked your phone..
Probably your bootloader must b locked..
That resulted into this..
For locked bootloader you should go for a stock Rom..

Locked bootloader.
Using xperia sOul enGinE.
Can you get into download mode (vol down, home button, power button)? If so just flash a stock rom, and start again.

Before you try to help others, I suggest you do some reading and get your facts straight yourself.
I9100 does not have a locked bootloader. Full stop.
In addition, no, the key combo which has been posted is download mode.
So, helping others is great. Giving others basic info which is blatantly wrong is not great. I'm not saying you have to be right 100% of the time, but get the basics sorted before you confuse others please.
OP, if you can get into download mode then flash a stock Rom via Odin, re root and then flash away.

No offense dude !
Thanks !

Yes, you did. And whichever way you want to spin it, that was incorrect. You might want to learn 'the basics' about this phone before you start giving other people advice about it.
nope!
no spining

Well, I just received my phone today and I decided to root it by following a guide. Little did I know that firmware I was rooting was not meant for this phone. Now the phone shows the Samsung screen for a split second and then it turns off.
Is there anything I can do to restore it back to normal? I only have access to download mode right now.
Pm howtomen hrs helped someone earlier today in irc. not sure how. But you're still ok

Ohh ok thank you both for the quick replies. This sucks, I don't have a phone now untill I can get this fixed :\
So where did the dev forum for our phone go? Is it mixed in with the other major 4 US carrier versions?

It seems to randomly disappearing and reappearing.

If you can get into download mode you're ok. You need to flash a stock rom and you'll be back to normal. Don't flash chainfire's root from the international thread because the kernel is not the same.

Already done
Hi
I have an S3 coming tomorrow so decided to check out the forums and get a head start.
I have gotten a little confused, my first android phone was the xperia play which requires me to unlock the bootloader to flash roms and is also reliant on being an unbranded version.
Is this not the case with the S3? I have done alot of reading already but don't quite understand the process.
My phone will be an orange handset, so is it just a case of flashing cwm and then flashing a Rom? I'm also used to using fastboot which I believe isn't compatible with the S3 is that correct?
Sorry if this post is annoying but I need to get things straight in my head as alot of what I'm reading goes straight over my head lol
Thanks for any help

Welcome to samsung. They dont behave like morons by locking bootloaders. If u want to flash a stock rom pc/mobile odin is the tool. For custom roms u just need to get cwm to flash.

Fastboot.
you cant get stuck on fastboot if your phone is not connected to the PC or am i wrong ?!
flash a new firmware via flashtool you can download it in the Android development section
to get the phone to flashmode press volume down, hold it and connect it to the PC , flashtool will recognize it.
then click on the lighting on the upper left and choose flashmode, then choose the firmware you want to flash.
im stuck in revovery guys :S

I got it... You must have flashed a wrong kernel for your phone.
Are you on gb/ics?
Choose the right kernel for your os.
Then choose the appropriate kernel for the firmware. (it's like .452,.45,etc)
Now flash the kernel through command prompt using fastboot method.

Installing cwm is possible only by flashing a pre rooted kernel through command prompt using fastboot method.

ROM Manager
hi,
yes, it works, indeed (LT26i 4.0.4)! And in opposite to RecoveryX. Fortunately now I can get into recovery mode but is it compatible with ROM Manager from CWM? Because for me it seems not.
Need help!
I rooted, installed cwm properly on my friends neo L. But after installing optimax Rom I m unable to boot my phone, I followed all the steps properly.
It even seems usb debugging is disabled as adb doesn't detect the phone when on Sony logo. The gets stuck on Sony logo and I'm unable to boot into recovery. Boot loader is Locked. What to do please help!
Thanks in advance!

Ya.. But whenever I flash optimax Rom even on .587 stock firmware the phone gets stuck on Sony logo. The bl is unlocked but still can't get into recovery after flashing the Rom. So Every time I have to reflash the stock Rom and follow rooting process again, did that thrice! Any advice?
Is there any other requisite before flashing the Rom?

I thought you said bootloader was locked...if its unlocked then just flash a custom kernel...nd you'll have recovery. No need to repeat the whole flashing..rooting process again.

Can you suggest a good kernel which won't cook the phone, and why doesn't the ROMS have kernels built into it? Is it because the ROMS are built for all the neo phones?

No kernel will cook the phone. You only have to use GB kernel for GB ROMs, ICS kernel for ICS roms, etc. A new kernel will change nothing at your rom.
Sony doesn't allow flashing kernel via a cwm zip like on Samsung phones.
