[Q] Edit Manufacturer Name under Setting/extras+info - Nokia Lumia 920

Has anyone figured out how to edit/change the Manufacturer Name in Settings/extras+info? I believe that if this can be edited, you'll be able to install AT&T roms on unbranded and branded 920's that want to go back to, or use, an AT&T rom.
My old LG had a MFG program that could be unlocked and used to really hack the system. Anyway, on the LG, you changed the Manufacturer Name and Mobile Operator to AT&T settings and you could install AT&T roms on that unlocked LG. Did it several times once the proper changes were made.
Any ideas out there?

[Q] Unlock after flashing CM7

(I've posted this in the CM7 thread, although I'm not sure it's specific to that ROM so I shall ask here too)
Hello,
I just got a Galaxy Europa today and I have successfully installed ClockworkMod along with this CyanogenMod port, however I am attempting to unlock per the instructions in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...86&postcount=6
I've managed to retrieve the codes from the page however when I place a different SIM in the phone I'm not prompted for an unlock code and I am instead at the home screen with "Emergency calls only" and a fully functional phone (bar cellular usage).
Should I have unlocked the phone before I flashed CM7? If so should I flash back to the original Samsung ROM? According to the product page I received before flashing the phone my model is GT-I5500YKAH3G, which I cannot find an original rom for or can I flash any GT-I5500 ROM?
Thanks,
I found an original Samsung ROM that would work with my handset, however it seems that after inputting the unlock code my IMEI was set to 000000000000000, which is obviously rejected by every network. I poked around for a while and tried all of the fixes that were offered by none seemed to have worked.
Within the UK this device is only available on the Three network and I want to be able to use it on a different network without paying. I pretty much followed the guide exactly and as such could it mean my handset uses a different method for sim locking? If so should I get a refund instead of having it repaired.

AT&T Fusion u8652 - Need original OEM firmware or help to fix radio

Problem:
Updated my AT&T u8652 Fusion with a Huawei OEM firmware for a u8650 Sonic phone. The firmware upgrade did not finished all the way through step 2/2 but the phone boots up with the new firmware version identified via "About Phone". I did this without rooting the phone and have not back up.
With this firmware installed: I was able to root.
The problem is that this firmware was made for India - in the folder name is specified as this:
HUAWEI_U8650_Android_2.3_V100R001C151B863SP02_India_Trench
After the upgrade seems that all functions of the phone work, but the radio seems to be incorrect, I can no longer connect 3G, only EDGE, and the cell phone sensitivity is a lot lower than before the firmware upgrade.
==========================================================
I don't mind the u8650 firmware, but would like to get the radio portion to be correct for the US.
I have and identical Fusion that has been rooted with the stock AT&T firmware. I made a Clockworkmod/Rom Manager back up of this phone and installed the back up on the phone in question.
The functionality now looks like AT&T original, but the radio part is still messed up. With boot/system/data updated, the phone now has "no service".
==========================================================
I would like to put the broken phone back to the stock setup, but do not know how to utilize the identical phone to help enable this.
Or I would just like to update the radio portion for the broken phone.
Can anyone suggest some ideas to do this?
Thanks,
Rob

I seem to be in the same situation as you, its an ATT phone, but when I put an ATT sim inside it asks for an unlock code! Did you ever figure out how to get the original radio back?

Thanks for your reply. I could never fully overwrite the India firmware where I could get the 3g working. Since I was within 15 days of purchase at Walmart, I just returned the phone. I ended finding a perfect phone on Ebay for $65 and installed the "Zac" rom. No issues ever since.

Possible solution unlocking international I9300 - Missing Samsung Service Mode menus

Hi guys/girls,
Well I had some issues last week with attempting to unlock an I9300T (same as I9300 only it picks up the 2400hz band from the Telstra service provider) anyway, eveyone was mentioning 'Just flash back to ICS to downgrade the bootloader, unlock and flash back again' or something along those lines. Needless to say the first thing I did was root the phone to back up the EFS/IMEI and in the process of rooting via Odin with CF-Root....the task in it's self bungled the EFS anyway. So corrupt EFS, no signal and IMEI displaying as 0049. On a side note I discovered a new and much easier way of recovering your EFS should anyone run into those sorts of issues.
It was told following tutorials from various sources that the Service Mode menu input for simlock works on international SGS3 models???? Well apparently it DOESN'T....so all my effort was wasted I guess? Flashing the phone and bricking it several times. Anyway my point I wanted to make was that there is quite a difference the Service modes available for Australian/International I9300 devices.
I am curious to know (if possible?) transplanting the serviceModeApp.apk from a device where Network unlock can be performed by simply pinning in the service code via the dialer....to un-sim-lock the device??
Would somebody who has successfully unlocked their I9300 via this method be willing to share their serviceModeApp.apk for me to be able to test this theory??
EDIT: Needs to be Android 4.1.1 from what I have just read now?
Oh and just for clarification, I would be needing the serviceModeApp.apk from the version of Android that you were running when you unlocked your device, not the one you are running now if you have updated firmware versions since then? So most likely I would be asking someone to dig through one of their Nandroid backups to extract the serviceModeApp.apk from that particular firmware...EDIT From reading I believe I'll specifically need Android 4.1.1 (Not 4.0.4 or 4.1.2)
The reason I request this is mainly due to the fact that older firmware versions are becoming difficult to come by since the collapse of most of the major online file-storage providers such as Hotfile. Seems like an awful lot of work for me to go through for one apk also ....then to learn that the one I choose for what ever reason was NOT the correct one for unlocking because of the region and/or service provider the firmware was from or any other long list of unknown variables.
So yeah if someone that unlocked during ICS can fish out that APK for me that would be really appreciated, not only that but if it proves to be successful we will have a lot less people bricking their phones
Many many thanks in advance!:good:

[Q] Returning to AT&T ROM

Several months ago, I followed the process many on these forums did of developer unlocking my Nokia Lumia 920 via the Canada Rogers ROM. For a while it was great, but I would like to now return it to the AT&T ROM, as all the updates I believe are caught up. Some of my apps, including some Nokia ones, seem to not play well with this developer ROM, and my WiFi is hit or miss at home now, possibly due to this ROM. Is there any way to un-developer unlock my phone?

What is you Hardware Product Code?
The Hardware Product Code is generally inscribed physically on/in the drawer of the SIM card or on/in one MicroSD card), 059.......
I wasn't able to find any numbers on my SIM tray, and my phone is a Nokia Lumia 920, so I do not have a Micro SD slot. Is there any other way to find this number? I was also unable to find it in the "About Phone" section under Settings.

Extra+info:
Value of Manufacturer Name?
RM-820_nam_canada_246
That is the ROM I put on there about a year ago in an attempt to update early. It was originally an AT&T Lumia 920.

I was wrong, the value is that of the current rom, not the Hardware Product Code. But it does not matter.
Normally your Hardware Product Code is ATT U.S.
So just re-flash the present Hardware Product Code, with Nokia Software Recovery Tool ou Nokia Care Suite (Software Updater Module !).
Nokia Software Recovery Tool does not recognize my phone. If I connect my phone after opening the program, it says it was unable to connect with my phone. If I select that my phone is unresponsive, it asks that I reset the phone via VolDown and Power, and try again. This also does not work. Is the Other option, Nokia Care Suite, my only option? It seems intimidating, but I can try it.

For Nokia Care Suite, you have two options:
- Either you do not fully follow the tutorial and you go directly to the Software Updater module.
- Either you fully follow the tutorial (in having taken the right Product Type and the right Product Code).
There isn't a way to do it, I've tried flashing pre and post portico ATT roms, but once you flash a Rogers RM-820_nam_canada_246 you're stuck with it.
I have not however, after moving to 8.1 tried any of the new roms, or know if they are available, but might be worth a try.
OK assuming Etaduck is right, and I have no way of returning to AT&T's ROM, what am I missing out on?

[Q] at&t hardware unlock

I bought an htc one m8 last week from a friend, seemed to be fully unlocked and tried many sims and worked perfectly. When i tried to update the phone (OTA) from 4.4.4 to lollipop the phone shows that its up to date. I contacted htc chat support and they requested my imei, they told me it's an at&t device and i have to wait for the update, I told them that the device is unlocked, they told me it's hardware locked and i have to wait for the update. I didn't hear of that before especially that i'm not from america, there is no anything referring to at&t, the phone doesn't have the at&t logo on the back and when it boots it doesn't show it. If it's really hardware locked is there any way to unlock it, or is there any way to install lollipop?
SIM unlock that allows you to use another carrier's SIM has nothing to do with how the updates roll out. The updates roll out based on the phone's CID (carrier ID) and model MID (model ID). The only way to change those is with sunshine s-off ($25 US). Otherwise, the HTC rep is correct in that AT&T has not rolled out the Lollipop update yet. And when they do, you won't get it OTA. You need to be connected to AT&T's network for that. But you will be able to update by downloading the RUU to a PC and updating that way.
