Hey guys,
I've recently converted to the S3 from the GNex.. I'm used to the stock android feel. I've read that the Galaxy S 3 comes with unlocked bootloaders.. does that mean if I root I wouldn't have to clear data?
Because I'm honestly willing to settle with this phone, I've changed 7 phones in past 6 months and I'm sick of losing my data..
So help me..
Can I root without losing data?

yeah you can just root using cf root
I'm really interested in rooting.. but I'd prefer staying on stock ROM. Is there a way I can root, and modify the stock ROM?

yeah if you just download the lastest cf root and flash it with odin you stay on the stock rom
Okay thanks.. I will definitely give that a try..

Really easy and clean way to root your phone is through the SG3 Toolbox. Check out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488
There are a whole bunch of other very useful tools also included.

Also install Triangle Away 1.51 for resetting the flash counter.

yes you would be able to flash a unbranded firmware just flash it through odin the nonce youve done that set the phone up the flash cf root
Does it necessarily need to be through odin? Will it not work using the toolkit?

I'm used to doing it the easy way like on the GNex... I can't wait for jelly bean on our galaxy s3.. that's why I want to root. Cause I know my carrier will never update..

using odin only takes about 30seconds to do the set up then about 5minutes to flash the actual firmware ive never used toolkit so i dont know how long it takes doing it that way

The toolkit is doing the same thing. It's best that you learn to do it through Odin. It's far more safe this way it's not like you are going to break it or anything.
Let's hope not

Have you physically gone through the methods to unlock it? (you'd know if you have) if not then its locked as standard

i already went through and unlocked my bootlader
thank you very much
now i can flash kernel
Ok. See some people see it says unlockable and assume it already is by default.
What method are you using to flash the kernel? Talk through it step by step

There's no such thing as a best ROM, it generally depends on user's requirements. So try the ones you think are good & stick with the one you like. Thread closed.

Not trying to be rude but just keep in mind for the future that if you can't find anything then chances are it doesn't exist
Yea I haven'tset anything up really because I'm waiting for root to install like a quarter of my apps. I can't wait for this! Hopefully by the end of the weekend we'll have it

Hopefully, soon. I will be the main tester for Niaboc
He just need to work on the WiFi only files as it is the device I have (SGP311).
To avoid wasting time for only 2 weeks of use, I will finally wait to start development on Tablet Z.
eXistenZ for tablet Z will be based on JB 4.3

What a wonderfull new, XTZ is missing good developpers.
Will you focus on SGP 311, 312 or develop for 321 too ?

Being the main tester from Niaboc, I will focus on the device type I have, which is the SGP311. The SGP312 will also have support because the only difference between them is the internal storage. Unless Niaboc finds someone else reliable and that has a SGP321, it won't have any support

i just did it, it booted, but bootloop, i think it is a kernel issue.
so what happens if you did? i just accidently flashed the wrong firmware.. sgp321 on a sgp311 device..
when i connect my charger the led won't even light up... any advice besides sending it back to sony?

Sure the new firmware is a good thing.
As far as i know eXistenZ is based on a stock ROM, which is now ... 5.0.2 on Tablet Z.
I can understand, that for it may be to early for 5.0.2, but at least 4.4.4.
4.3 neither has the speed of new firmwares nor feature. So what is the reason to base it on 4.3

Try volume up+ power or volume down+ power and hold them for 10 second to reset before trying to flash. Might just work!
I've flashed CM a few times in my life and it's great! I love it. But do you know what I love more?
Kill me now,
But TouchWiz.
Love the features. Most of them are stoobid and I will remove once I get root, but I want root, xposed and 4.4 on my Verizon Note 3. I'm not interested in sitting on 4.3 anymore. So! Here's my question.
Is there a way to flash the unlocked non-carrier bloated version of 4.4.2 TouchWiz on my Verizon note 3?
Thanks for your time!
Happy rooting.
