no browser as yet (correct me if I am wrong) is capable of correctly displaying flv video content within the browser windows (flv movies as used in YouTube and similar sites)
I did manage to get a version of Web&Walk to do it some time ago but it stopped after a short time.Even then it only allowed a tiny part of the video to be played.
Best way at the moment as I'm led to believe is the following

Youtube app as default player

Youtube videos on the Hero open in the HTC flash player, which would be fine if it weren't for the crappy quality, choppy video and distorted colours. On my G1 I was able to open youtube videos in the Youtube application, which is of a considerably higher quality. Is there a way to do this on the Hero
Sorry if this question has been asked, I did a search both on the Forum and on Google but I was unable to come across an answer.
Thanks
I have the very same question. I've been searching the forum and the web without success so far. Anyone?
It is built into the Modaco ROMs. I'd suggest either installing one, or downloading one and seeing if you extract and install the APK.
Regards,
Dave
Which APK? The official ROM already has the youtube app, I just want it to be launched when I click on a youtube video within the browser...
Any other way without changing ROMs?
I'm still looking for a way to do it without switching ROMs, too. If anyone has any ideas please let us know
I would (also) like to know how/if it can be done.
Currently, when I need to play a link in the YouTube app, I copy/paste and load the page in the Steel browser. Steel will let me choose to either use the HTC Flash Player or the YouTube app.
I would have liked the HTC people to at least leave the option with the users...

[Q] Javascript and Flashing

I had some issues with my phone i think, When i use any Navigator, like skyfire or the default navigator, i get this warning "The javascript is disabled in your navigator", but it is ON, well it only show this when i try to watch the site in the mobile version (fayerwayer is an technology news blog like gizzmodo) i came to think it maybe the Firmware i had, i have the 026, but maybe have some issues, i tryied to follow the tutorial from above, but i get an error about something like java do not exist or something (i do the patch for java) but still have the same error, beside it cofuses me that the tutorial is for X10i phones , and i have an X10a :S. Now another issue i have in my phone, i can't watch videos from Youtube HD on my phone , and i can try to load it, but always get an error... If someone can watch videos from youtube HD with the youtube app on the phone could tell me what he do?
PS: sorry my bad english ? xD
Hi.
Our phones aren't Java enabled which is why you're having issues with your browsers, and the YouTube app streams the content so not sure why that isn't working for you.
thanks for the reply,
i didn't know about the java, and i had to researh about why isn't streaming the youtube videos in HD...
Thanks again

[Q] I can´t close advertising's windows

Hi, i need help please! In my tablet Sony S, while i am watching a streaming of a sport game, appears annoying advertise´s windows. When a click on close button this windows doesn´t close!! Do you know any solution for this problem? Thanks
You will need to be a lot more specific. What app are you watching the video in? Is it in the browser? What kind of pop-up window are you seeing?
The more detail you give us, the better the chance we can help you.
This problem occurs when i see de streaming video in browser! I used various browsers app( Firefox, dolphin). Always with same problem! I put a photo's attachment to see the pop-up that appears in front of streaming video! Sorry for my english, is horrible !
This is obviously not a STS issue because as ur screenshot proves its on Firefox aswell. I'm guessin its an advertisement from the webmasters of this site which will be removed once u pay for this service.
U can try the following:
For Firefox:
Install Adblock Plus (search in the addons for ABP or Adblock) once the red ABP icon appears in the lower left corner there should be no advertisements anymore.
For your STS:
1. Install AdFree. Basicly the same as ABP. Root is required tho.

Is it just me or isn´t that screenshot from a PC and not the Tablet S?

Yep, that screenshot is definitely from the desktop version of Firefox. I see on reason why clicking the X in the top right wouldn't work. I would however agree with Lunat1c that an actual ad blocker is your best bet. Particularly something like AdFree which is very effective and transparent. Plus, it works in any browser.

writing HTML5 Script

I have downloaded JW Player Javascripts to my computer for playing HTML5 Videos in my Motorola Milestone running with Kabaldan's CM7 7.2.0 ROM.The instructions included in the downloaded zip file says to write one script in the "Head" and the other in the "Body" of the web browser page of the phone. But being a noob in this matter I don't know how to access this web browser page and where in this page I have to write them.If any body give me a step by step instructions for this I would be much grateful to them.Expecting a helping hand with thanks in advance,
pnsdhrn.
An HTML document consists of two main tags: the head & the body. Whatever is in the head isn't rendered in the DOM and therefore isn't seen by the end user. Whatever is in the body IS rendered in the DOM and IS seen by the end user.
If you can link me to the download link for the Zip I could further help you!

What are you wanting to use JW Player for exactly? This is simply an alternative to a flash video plugin for web developers...e.g. if you're building a website and wish to include a video on a particular page.

Dear jhjhjhjh,
My intention is to play HTML5 videos in certain websites directly in the website itself without downloading them and watching with playback facility. Also the videos should play without the aid of any flash player applications such as Adobe Flash Player.I suppose you got it.

All you need to do is browse the website in an HTML5-compatible browser - stock ICS browser, Chrome Beta & Dolphin HD all fall under that category as they are all derived from WebKit : )
JW Player isn't a user-centric "addon" for a browser - it's a JavaScript plugin for web developers to use on their own websites to allow for HTML5 video playback.
Am I misunderstanding you? I get the feeling I am...

Thank you dear blend. No you are not misunderstanding me.I tried Dolphin HD,Chrome Beta & stock ICS.They all won't play the videos in the website itslf. All will download the video and playback using the videoplayer of the phone.Instant plyback is not coming.I hear about another browser 'Puffin"which does the instant playback in the website itself. Is it real? And what about it's performance compared to Chrome Beta and Dolphin HD?Please bear with me if I am disturbing you.

P.S. I'm jhjhjhjh - just had my username changed.
If you could send me a couple of URL's you've been trying to watch the videos on, i'll test it myself. This'll give me a chance to reproduce the issues you're experiencing.
I've never tried Puffin as Chrome Beta is perfect for me and I swear by it on the iMac (desktop).
And of course you're not disturbing me - this is a community : )
