If your phone says not allowed than not possible( atleast as of today).
However you can root with locked bootloader

Xperia RAY
Currently running Gingerbread 2.3.4
My phone is locked to the network o2UK and the bootloader is set to LOCKED
I've tried to unlock the bootloader but in the services menu it says 'Bootloader unlock allowed: NO'
My question is, how would i get the bootloader unlocked or are there any 'work arounds' to get root
Thanks!
okay, first... rooting n unlocking bootloader isn't same... root can be done to locked, unlocked, bootloader status : no and bootloader status : yes...

Yes, and in the time it took to write your thread you could have found them by googling or browsing the general section.

How do I know if the bootloader of my z2 is locked or Unlocked?
The Xposed frameworks need unlocked bootloader?
Is there any chance I end up accidentally unlocking the bootloader?
Thanks, and sorry for my lack of knowledge!

Xposed needs root. rooting your device does NOT Require a unlocked bootloader
your bootloader can ONLY be unlocked via flashtool or ADB unlock w/ Provided Unique key
all devices come locked and you can check this via service menu
"#"#SERVICE#"#" (use numbers for)
i unlocked the bootloader with flashtool know how can i know if bootloader is locked or unlocked?

Unlocking an unlockable bootloader. Doesn't make much sense, does it now.

You don't have to unlock the bootloader to have root. I can't unlock my bootloader (bootloader unlock allowed = No) but I've got root.
You can get root a few ways, either by flashing a rooted stock rom, or by flashing a rooted rom for locked bootloader such as Moonwalker or Existenz (look in the Android Development thread for the Z2).
I'm using Moonwalker with white theme. I can recommend it :good:
