Hi, I know that it has been written much about heating issues with galaxy s2, but i just need to know if your phone gets a little warm, around the camera, when you browse the menu, watch videos, view pictures, copy/paste files, and browse the web.
It's probably an annoying theme for you,but I had great heating issues with my phone.I've tried every official rom from from 2.3.5 to 4.1.2 - nothing solves the problem; today i installed Ressurection Remix 3.1.3 and the phone only gets warm when used...it seems like a solution to my problem.
So what about your phone?

I had Galaxy S2 and heating is completely normal. My phone got even 48C hot. Even my friends wondered, but it's quite normal if the CPU usage is high. Don't worry, it won't burn. My Note gets even hotter.

Hi Guys,
I installed the new ICS ROM (4.0.3) ROM with KIES a few days ago. What I have noticed, that certain tasks like taking photos, browsing photos and internet make the phone unusually hot, more like overheating especially around the camera part. I noticed the same thing when the phone plugged into the computer and the KIES is running. I never noticed any of this with the 2.3.5 ROM before. Has anyone noticed something like this with the new ICS ROM? It very annoying, and only restarting the phone solves the problem. Simply closing the programs with the task manager not.
Thanks and have a good day!
You should keep an eye on the task manager when it happens, in my case it was a app that was crashed in the background, but kept running, maxed out the Cpu usage, got really hot and drained the battery quickly.
Get your battery out for a few secs for a reset, and check task manager when it occurs again.
Hey there,
Thanks for the reply. I noticed, that it happens, anytime when I start browsing photos. It gets very hot. Even after restarting the phone. I never had this issue with the 2.3.5 stock rom. I'm thinking to put it back. I can't really see the advantages of using ICS, when I have more problems with it
try reflashing
try some other modem
try cyanogenmod 9 beta
go back to GB if all fails
The thing is that Samsung f*cked up the ICS release.
I have also encountered my phone getting very hot and draining massive battery.
This may be a kernel problem.
Try another custom Rom.
i noticed that too when i upgraded to ICS
so i installed this ROM : Resurection Remix v1.0
the problem went away, and phone is alot smoother now
try it.
The same thing with me. I asked a lot of questions in a lot of forums, i even tried diferent custom roms (omega etc) but i still have the problem. If somebody have tried the Ressurection remix rom must tell us if the problem insists
Hi all,
Long time viewer, first time poster, so do go easy....
I installed the task650's ICS UCLC2 leak CWM + root ROM last night from this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568080
I'm facing some issues and wanted to see if this others were getting this too or its just me.
The phone gets quite hot and loses battery life pretty quickly (dead in <6 hrs). Also, kind of slow and jittery (coming from GB unNamed ROM). I really wanted to get ICS for Chrome (which looked really good on the nexus). But Chrome freezes up constantly and I have to force close it after browsing even a few pages.
Wondering if anyone else has had these issues as well with this ROM or did I do something wrong? Fixes?

My best guess is that you didn't do a full wipe before installing, which would leave all kinds of hooks in the system. I'd recommend a fresh download (eliminate ROM issues), then a full wipe and do it again.
Another conflict...
I also installed the task650 deodexed etc. rom this morning. Since I was running unrooted UCLC2, I could only flash the .zip from the standard recovery mode. (After wiping all I could in that mode)
All seemed well, so I reinstalled all my apps and attempted a CWM backup.
This process started and then stalled leaving my phone at the Samsung Galaxy SII
screen and unresponsive to any attempts to get it into reboot or into recovery mode. After some waiting and battery-remove re-attempts, I finally got it into Odin mode where I could reinstall the unrooted I777UCLC2.exe.
Is this a CWM issue that others have also experienced, or because of my install method?
Hi,
I have a Galaxy S2 on TMobile in the UK. Not rooted, just been upgraded to ICS with the official firmware through Kies.
Ever since then I've been randomly getting a black screen - i.e. phone doesn't respond to any of the buttons to turn the screen on. Only way to get the phone to work again is a battery pull. Haven't installed any apps from prior to ICS, and prior to ICS I didn't have this problem.
As well as getting a black unresponsive screen it seems to get really warm. Not the normal been playing a game warm, but bordering on really hot. When I do the battery pull and restart there's also been a big battery drain - have lost half the battery before and the phone warning is on screen saying it's about to run out of battery when it was 60% charged before.
I'm guessing no one's going to have a simple answer to this (although it would be great if anyone does, but I've searched and haven't found anything) - but any tips on trying to identify what the cause is? Could it be a bad app maybe?
I tried logcat but didn't really understand it (!) and I wasn't sure if it would record what happened before a battery pull anyway. What's a way of recording what's going on that will stay recorded after a battery pull?
Any tips to help get the bottom of this would be much appreciated
Many thanks
Andrew
First backup data and factory reset .
Still a problem reinstall the firmware.
Checkfus will let you download it and flash via Odin .
Or take it to a service centre is the other choice .
jje
factory reset m8 if ur carrying ur bckup frm gb ,than some apps r not fine wiv ics...jus use ur ics wivout ur bckup of apps and download betterybattstat and some apps to c wats draining, ull get some idea.

I am having exactly the same problem. This has started just after upgrading to ICS. (I have an unlocked S2 CSC:XEU). Never had this problem before. I tried hard reset but the problem is still there.
I have upgraded using Kies.
I have the same problem on unlocked S2 CSC:XEU. not rooted...
reset didn't work. full wipe - the same problem

hi, i have the following problems after updating to official ICS,
wifi sometimes gets stuck between on/off
sometimes phone goes to sleep and does not respond
wake up is slower than in GB
after numerous hard resets and re-flashing ICS with odin these issues persist.
I recommend re-flashing the official GB version and wait till samsung sort their crap out.
all these issues are kernel related. the wifi issue is reported to be a faulty stock kernel and the black unresponsive screen also is a kernel issue I faced with some beta kernels.
my tip, before you hesitate to go back to GB, give one of the custom kernels a try. Siyah, Speedmod, ... just for the moment don't tweak anything and make sure you really flash an ICS kernel (!!). Just flash one of these kernels and give it a try, you don't even have to do it with odin and thus increase the counter, but you can use that variant. When you are in CWM, instead of flashing the SU zip file, flash the custom kernel zip which will root your phone, too.
Now give the custom kernel a try and see if your issues are gone.
If you don't like it, just flash the stock kernel with odin and uninstall SU and Busybox, and you are back to stock ICS.
I had the same problem. Kernel. Flash the latest siyah kernel and sleep of death will dissapear

I'm getting the exact same issue running Siyah 3.3.2 and CM9. Also happened with stock ICS.
First few times it happened the phone was in my pocket and I felt it get warm. Only way to recover it was to hold power button in for about 10 seconds and it then reboots. I thought the screen was unlocking in my pocket and it was switching off due to overheating... but
Happened again today whilst I was using the phone. Screen went black and phone started getting hotter and hotter. I now think something is causing some kind of loop that causing the lockup / heat up and the phone is actually still on until I press and hold the power button.
I'm currently trying a "record" with CatLog but I can reproduce the problem easily apart from it happening 4 times in the 4 weeks I've had the phone.
(Its a I9100P if that makes any difference)
Hi guys, I'm running the latest version of Slim Bean with stock modem XXLE8 and whatever kernel comes with Slim. I've noticed that there is a 1.5-2 second delay upon hitting the power or home button to the screen turning on and being ready to use. It's pretty annoying as you can imagine, I've actually figured out what the problem is, my phone is going to deep sleep too early and is taking up to 2 seconds to wake up, I wouldn't mind this if the phone has been left alone for 2 hours or so, but if I leave my phone for 5 minutes I shouldn't have to wait 2 seconds to unlock it. I came to this conclusion by using the app softlocker from the market, which disables sleep, and the lockscreen is perfectly fine with no lag, so should I try a new modem or a new kernel or is there something else I have to try to solve this issue?
There are already some discussions about that problem:

It is a very annoying problem and I don't really understand how a top range device like the Galaxy S3 has such a problem.
I was hopping that the official Jelly Bean update would fix it... If it does not, I will contact Samsung (as should everyone who is annoyed by the wake up lag).

I've read both but neither seem to provide much of a solution. It is pretty ridiculous a phone like the S3 with such powerful hardware suffers from unlock lag. My HTC Desire Z used to unlock instantly... Kinda disappointing.
I'm totally annoyed because of this problem, too.
isn't there a kernel or something where this doesnt happen??
No issues with Omega v34, instant

I've been looking but can't seem to find one. The delay is about 1.5-2 seconds on Siyah, was about the same with YANK kernel.

Hmmmmm I might flash a stock rom and check it out because I don't remember it happening when I was running stock, tho that was for a grand total of 3 days lol.
This has always been a particular issue surrounding the Android software in terms of the optimisation of the OS...Keep in mind that kernels and ROMs with plently of adjustment may also mean plenty of variables, as small settings adjustments may alter and cause detrimental lags and issues as such. I use Phenomenal which is pretty good as there is little adjustments, disabled logs and undervolted...very good battery and response...I would recommend looking at something like that...unfortunately, should you wish not to root your device and keep it as standard, you may look at if there is an app that might be causing your the issue...but please note that slow unlocking/wake is because the device is in deep sleep.

sure, but i own quite a view other android phones and none behaves like the s3, not even the superlow-budget htc one v
i installed the omega 4.2 AOKP rom today, but the lag is there, too....i got back to arhd for now...
theres a app called softlocker, but with that the cpu never gets to deepsleep, my s3 gets warm and the battery drains badly
Okay, so I have s2 i9100. I have installed neatrom lite version, it is jb 4.1.2. I have fully nuked phone before installing this rom and installed dorimanx kernel afterwards. By using stweaks i choose performance profile for my phone. Even though I have disabled animations from developers menu, and I do not use any applications which would eat a lot of processing power, my phone is very slow. It was not this slow before. I mean honestly, every single damn move is with at least a minimal lag, freeze or something. What the hell is going on here? Does JB 4.1.2 on S2 is supposed to be like that.
You guys, I need some tips from your experience write here. I really have like no time for testing roms and maybe you can help me out by recommending some kind of rom, which would not have **it load of bugs and would not lag as much as this one does. I heared about CM 10.2 4.3JB but I am afraid about bugs and all that, so I think it would be a better idea to stick with 4.1.2 or 4.2.2. So, any tips? I would really appreciate some. Thanks you guys.
I highly doubt it is caused by your rom, because almost every user is satisfied Neatrom (me included).
What kernel do you use? And what happens when you use another profile than Performance?

Dorimanx kernel. Same things are happening.
Maybe my phone is damaged or something. A few days ago i dropped it and it was a little bit wet, but it did not turned of or anything and I can use it. About a few hours ago, something weird happened: phone was at idle, sleeping and out of nowhere that sound, when you start charging your phone appeared and backlight turned on... No reason, just happened.
Anyway, do you have any recommendations how to get rid of these issues?
Pull battery out now put in hot place in bowl of rice and leave it there for a week. Water damage...probably mb replacement now mate. Water and s2's dont mix.
I9100/I9300
Well, I used to have a rom that was causing me trouble after I dropped my phone. The battery for example was terrible after it. A full wipe and a fresh install of a new rom (although I'm pretty sure you've made a good choice with Neatrom) cleared these problems.. Maybe you can try that?
Edit: and if you try another kernel?
